An Unforgettable Experience: I hate shopping for furniture. In the past, I typically just purchase the item online to avoid any pushy salespeople, etc.; this time I wasn't so lucky. The item that I wanted to purchase online wasn't available and I was prompted to visit the closest store. I guess you can say that I was dreading this. Little did I know, I was about to have one of the most seamless yet, comical buying experiences that I will never forget. Ashley Furniture, located in Fairfax, provided me with the best customer service imaginable. As I approached the doors I was greeted by, "Irene the Dream", who was incredibly helpful. I explained the situation and showed her the printout of exactly what I was looking for. She told me, without hesitation, that the piece had been sold out but she could show me similar options if I chose to. She also advised me that the store could order the piece on my behalf as they have additional capabilities that customers shopping online do not - I obliged and followed her lead. Her knowledge of the products and their location within the store was impressive. She didn't walk me around in circles or try to sell me something that didn't meet my needs. In fact, she was the one who suggested that I order the original piece as clearly she could tell that I had my heart set on it. This was when Irene introduced me to her manager, "Darlene the Great", and believe you me, this woman is a total badass who believes in putting the customer first and standing behind the Ashley Furniture name. I wanted to ensure that I would be granted the same sale price that was listed online as it had already been marked up within the database. I believe her exact words to Irene were, "Just do it...Get it done." I wasn't even in the store for 10 minutes and was escorted to a kiosk where the order was placed with a substantial discount to meet the sale price listed online/my printout. Within moments Irene placed my order and introduced me to "Rew and his Crew", who facilitated the payment and delivery portion of my purchase. "James with the Brain(s)", processed my payment and "Jenny with the T/ Tea/Block" (actually, Jenny had a few different names but I'm confident that she lives up to each and every one of them. I wasn't sure if she made a remarkable cup of tea, or if her last name started with the letter T but it was ironic when the infamous song by JLo, "Jenny from the block" started to play - naturally, James and I couldn't help ourselves). Regardless, within moments the team completed my purchase and I was on my way. This entire process took no more than 20 minutes; no haggling; no games, nothing. Just pure genuine customer service. This group of individuals was so efficient and truly believed in doing what was best for the customer. I swear if I had seen the ratings on this store I would have never gone there. We bought a bunch of furniture from this locating last month and they said that the furniture would arrive in two weeks. Then the date changed to October 30th and when we called them on October 30th they changed the delivery date to November 7 th. They just keep us waiting and waiting. I wish I had spent some more money somewhere else where I could get my furniture on time. And btw many of my friends who also had terrible experience with them have also experienced receiving either wrong design or damaged furniture. We told the salesperson that we were looking for a white-ish bed frame to match other furniture, so she kindly pointed us to a white panel bed, and with excitement she told us that the item was on sale for just $495. So we decided to buy it. However, at the cashier, she admitted she made a mistake that the bed was not on sale and it in fact cost $749. Then the manager came explaining that they made a mistake and thus agreed to give us a 15% discount on the $749 price tag. We agreed, and paid an additional $150.99 for delivery, even though we were told that they could not estimate a delivery time for us. Fine. Five days later we saw the same bed on sale for $535 on Ashley Homestores website, so I called the store asking for a price match. The salesperson answered my phone and said she needed to consult with the manager. Five minutes later she called back bluntly saying that they could not do price match, with no reason offered. I asked to talk to the manager and she refused, saying that she was using her personal cell phone to make the call (yep, very professional). After finally getting hold of the manager Skip, the explanation he gave was that the online store and the physical store are separate companies and therefore could not match the price on the website, even though the sales terms says that price can be matched within 14 days of purchase. Then if we were to cancel the items, they charge 30% restocking fee and refund store credit only. So yes, I guess we are trapped.. Key takeaways: 1. They dont do price match with the online store or any other physical stores. So the 14-day price match policy is basically BS. 2. Had a horrible experience at this Ashley's. It is very apparent that these guys are only there to get furniture out the door, with little to no regard for customer experience. I'll break down the experience in 4 simple areas: 1. Scam pricing - Ashley upcharges all their furniture in the store and then offers crazy "sales", but every single item is available on Amazon for 1/3 the cost it is in the store. 2. Horrible Delivery - The delivery experience was horrible, the people were super rude, and they had no respect for the house. They were wiping and dripping sweat all over the carpet and new furniture and ignored the towels we gave to them to stay clean. About 10-15 minutes after delivery, the man re-entered the house without knocking, because one of the guys forgot something! 3. Horrible Quality - All the sofa's are made of compressed wood particles, Ashley is very sneaky about letting people see what's underneath the upholstery. 4. Horrible Customer Experience - This store does not care at all about customer happiness. We wanted to return the couch we bought, because of quality issues and the lady at the store refused to allow a refund, when it clearly says on their website you can return it. AVOID THIS STORE! Ashley Home Furniture stores are franchisee-operated. I'd had a pleasant experience at another store within the state ~2 hours away, so felt it was worth shopping here for a family member. The salesperson was helpful. Once we finalized our selection, there was the usual haggling with the salesperson, as well as store managers Arsalan and Skip. BUYER BEWARE: This store, and its managers, only care about the sale, and not about quality nor service: We ordered three pieces of furniture and on the day of delivery (which was on the correct day but not within the stated timeframe), one of the recliners was damaged (that's ok, these things happen). We did not accept it. We were told that without the recliner, the total on the order would drop and our delivery fee of $150 (which had been originally waived due to the original total), would have to be applied; to avoid this, we'd have purchase a different item. A few days later, we decided to order a nightstand in lieu of the recliner. The refund of the difference was applied properly. We were told we would have to pick up the nightstand from the store ourselves. We received a phone call saying the nightstand was available for pick up. Upon arrival, we were told the nightstand wasn't in. We stated we'd received a phone call, and it wasn't until we furnished a voicemail that they were able to look for and find the nightstand. We asked for the nightstand to be removed from the box before we took possession of it. The nightstand was damaged. The store manager, Arsalan, stated he would reorder the stand and it would be delivered instead of us having to pick it up (that much was appreciated). Three days later, we received a call that a new nightstand was at the store and we would have to come pick it up. Upon explaining that Arsalan had stated the item would be delivered, the individual on the phone rudely insisted that we had to come pick it up. She finally stated that the manager was not in that day, and we would receive a phone call the following day. No such phone call was made. Two days after this phone call, we went to the store and asked to speak to Arsalan. We asked if the nightstand was available, to which he said yes. We asked when it would be delivered, he said, "sometime next week." I asked again, to which he said, "either Monday or Tuesday." I asked if it could be delivered the same day (Saturday), to which he said, "I guess I could deliver it myself after I get off work." We declined this offer and asked for an immediate refund. When we went to the back counter (where transactions are rung up), the nonsense continued. Arsalan said there'd be a 30% restocking fee, and imposition of a $150 delivery fee. When Skip arrived, he was able to remove the 30% restocking fee, but would not remove the $150 delivery fee. The fee is actually $150.99. We asked for the number to corporate, and more hemming and hawing continued; they were still trying to see if we would accept a delivery at a later date/time, despite several requests to put the refund on the card. Ultimately, we left with a refund for under $70, and the most disingenuous excuse of an apology from the store manager. So in summary, they are decent at making the sale, although it was a pleasant experience at a different store that was the reason I walked into this particular store in the first place. Certain individuals tried to do things correctly (i.e., the first refund was processed in a timely fashion), but the overall customer service is so deplorable, that it's hard to fathom why anyone would waste their time and money on a major purchase from this store. UPDATE: I went online and submitted a form outlining the above experience. On the very next business day, I received an email to call the regional customer service center. I called and spoke to Jackie, a customer service representative at the center, who listened and stated she could not refund then$150.99. However, she escalated the issue to her managers, and then she notified me that her managers would contact the store managers and I would receive a call from her (Jackie) the same day. Within an hour, Jackie called me back saying I could take my credit card back and receive my refund of $150.99 from the store. This is where the games continue with this particular store. I called the store, and they verified that my account stated that I was owed $150.99. They required that I come in to the store to swipe my credit card. I live 2 hours away. I asked if they could do it over the phone, and they said no, it was against store policy. I told them that just 24 days earlier, they had processed the refund over the phone. Again, they stated they could not do it over the phone. So I concluded the call, found the emails I had of the previous refund transaction's receipts and called back stating I had found the emails. Then, all of a sudden, they were able to refund me by phone (again). One star is too generous for this awful service! read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT purchase furniture from this location, or any Ashley store for that matter. My family ordered furniture in October 2021, with an estimated delivery of mid December 2021. Two weeks before that time frame, the store contacted us to let us know that our entire bed set was discontinued (minus the nightstands that had already arrived to their warehouse), and that our dining set/sofa set would be delayed to late January 2022. Since that initial delay, they have been calling us regularly, roughly every 4 weeks to delay the shipment another 6-8 weeks, always "due to COVID shipping delays". It is now March of 2022 and we still do not have our furniture. We ended up purchasing our bed frame from another location and as a courtesy to our Fairfax salesman, who specifically requested this, did not cancel the nightstands/reorder them at the second location. Til this day, the Fairfax location is essentially holding our nightstands hostage until the rest of the order (the dining set/sofa arrive)- which, at this point seems to be never. I have called both the store and the corporate distribution center, and their only "solutions" are for us to pay an additional $80 for a split delivery of the nightstands only, or pay $45 to pick them up from the store unassembled. They are holding our nightstands as they are discontinued/unavailable from other locations and are quite literally trying to milk us for even more money than the $5k+ we already have paid (they are still estimating our delivery to be March 23, which is also "subject to further delay"). We have the bedframe and dresser, but no nightstands. We were initially so excited to furnish our home and the prices we negotiated upon purchase in Oct. 2020 were fair. However, this experience has been and still is a complete and total nightmare, and, to top it off corporate is no help either and the second location we went to is quoting us over $1000 more for the same items. Pretty decent layout and selection. The sales team is more laid back here than typical places I've seen. They're pretty easy to work with when it comes to financing. I ordered a sleeper sofa last year and even though it was $500 less than the accepted amount for full year financing, they let me do it anyways. A year later, I buy a table and chair for even less and they let me do it again. The woman I worked with to buy the table spent an hour with me to find the right benches (unfortunately the counterheight benches with no backrest were discontinued) and additional time to pick out a chair for my living room. Zero pressure whatsoever. Today, I'm picking up my table and when I couldn't get into the vending machine (cash only), a random sales woman went out of her way to grab one for me from her car (just after she attempted to buy one qnd discovering they were sold out). I'm sure part of thi niceness is just building rapport to secure sales, but this is the right way to go about it. The sofa I've had for a year is used daily and is still in great condition. UPDATE: The customer service experience that doesn't improve. The wonderful sectional in this review is barely used. It is placed in the Sunroom and the armless chair section only gets used occasionally when I have company. So over the last 15 months, maybe it's been sat on less then 5-10 times. Well, at the beginning of the month, 2 of the springs popped through. I went into the store that day. I was told by the store manager it is out of warranty and there was likely nothing they could do. After some insistence on addressing the issue, he suggested I submit an email with photos. I did just that later in the evening. I received a phone call from the store the following day stating I would hear from someone in 25-48 hours - I have heard nothing. I sent a follow up email 1 week from the initial email - no response. He also told me the order should be in the next day, and regardless he'd give me a call on Monday. Monday comes and goes. No call. Tuesday, I call the store again, and Malcom is with another customer so I'm waiting for a call back. I asked for the number to the district manager, since the store manager can't be bothered to update his customers. I was told this is a Franchise location and the only number they have is the customer support with Ashley Furniture Corporate team. I called the customer support number, and all the could provide me with was an updated date to when they think the couch should be here. Now it's up to May 8th.....and I'm not holding my breath. The team at this Ashley Furniture location was extremely helpful with helping my roommate and I find the right couches for our new place. Hasan was very friendly and knowledgeable of the items shown in the store. He worked with us for 2 hours (even stayed 30 minutes past closing time) to find us the right deal. Once we found the perfect couches, the manager and other customer service representative (Rashad and Jayda) took excellent care of us with setting up the payment and delivery information. Overall, our first experience purchasing furniture was very pleasant thanks to the team at this location. Our excellent experience doesn't stop there. Two days after our purchase my roommate looked at the couches online and saw that the couch she had gotten had dropped significantly in price. During a phone call to the store, our options for price matching and refunds were thoroughly explained to us by a woman named Maria and we set up a time for my roommate and I to come by the store and modify our purchases. Several days later we went back to this location and worked with Rashad, Maria, and Malcolm on taking care of our requested modifications to the couches we had purchased. They were very time-efficient and transparent with what they were updating on our purchase and my roommate and I left the store with no lingering questions about our transactions at the store. I am in the process of moving from my current house to another house near this Fairfax area. A week ago, I passed by this store and got helps from the staff to select 2 sets of furniture for purchase. They were very friendly to help me to make the purchase. But, few days later, my sale of current house is stall, which hinders my further house purchase along with this furniture purchase too; so I was in a strange position that I can not purchase this furniture and have no place to put them either. I called the service phone number to explain my situation, and the staff explained that there is a company policy, which worried me quite a bit. But at the same, I was suggested to present my case to the manger to seek additional help. I purchased a sofa and loveseat at this location and the saleslady was very helpful in selecting the pieces that suited with me. One of the things she did that no one else does was that she sat with me on the couches as well so that I could get a better picture if the furniture was big enough to seat the number of guests I had. Unfortunately after purchasing it, I took the dimensions home and realized they would not fit at all. I was afraid they would charge me a restocking fee but the manager was very helpful and took care of my issue. They are a bit pushy when it comes to selling furniture. A few weeks ago we ordered a sectional couch for our basement from Ashley but the chaise lounge part of the couch was too wide to fit down the basement stairs--our fault for not measuring properly. The deliverymen took the sectional back with them on the truck and we were given 3 options: return the couch for a partial refund but we would be charged a restocking fee equal to 30% of our original purchase, return the couch for a store credit, or buy something of lesser value than the sectional and have the remainder we had spent on the sectional refunded to us. Lawrence, Malcom, and Medhi were very patient and helpful in assisting us to get this resolved and we really appreciated it. We ended up finding a coffee table and end tables that we liked and the rest of the money we spent is being returned to us---very kind of them since it was on us for not measuring better. read more

She was helpful (measured couches and tables as needed) and knowledgeable about the sofas and coffee tables we were looking at. I liked that she wasn't afraid to get on the floor to look at table legs and she literally whipped out a measuring tape to help measure a sofa to see if it would fit in our living room. My fiancé and I bought our first couch at Ashley Furniture HomeStore, with the help from Deka. We were on a budget and didn't expect to find a sectional for less than $1K, but we did at Ashley's. We found a beautiful blue sectional on a huge sale for $800. They provide free shipping for orders over $900, but we were not in the market for anything else. We looked at some of the coffee tables and fell in love with a modern, dark wood coffee table. The coffee table was marked at $750 but we were given a discount to meet the shipping costs. We walked out spending $1,100! Deka was very helpful, professional and patient with our choices. She knew out personal styles and communicated honestly about what she believed we would like best. She didn't suggest the most expensive products, instead she suggested coffee tables that fit best with our sectional and our personal styles. She let us measure, sit, take as many pictures and leave with free pillows that day! The owner of the store was professional, kind and expressed he was happy to work with first time furniture buyers. He said if we had any issues with the furniture to return it, come back and pick out something new. I will follow up on a review once we receive the furniture, but if the sales and management team is as great as the delivery and set up team, I'm sure it will be a great experience! read more

Horrible, Horrible customer service. We spent over $5,000.00 and this store never once ever called us back after multiple attempts to have furniture delivered. The bedroom set was broken when they loaded the furniture into the truck for delivery and we kept getting the runaround with the furniture pieces and delivery. The warehouse is a disgrace and the store never even once wanted to attempt to please the customer. We were told time and time again that we would get a return call but those calls never once occurred. I spoke with multiple managers and while they admitted it was AFS fault, they never once attempted to try and make us happy. After the terrible reviews, you would assume the corporate office would reach out to customers and apologize for the terrible service. I contacted Corporate and never got a response. This is a testament to what type of company this furniture store is. I will never shop there again and have told everyone I know to avoid this company. It is a shame that AFS does nothing to correct the terrible customer service this store provides. read more

I recently purchased a sofa. The sofa arrived as scheduled and while it was not totally perfect it was acceptable. The sales person and the office manager were helpful. I think the price was reasonable. I would go back to this store. read more
