My husband and I visited the Ashley Furniture store in Falls Church, VA on Saturday 04/04/26. An older woman named Rowa greeted us at the door and said she would be assisting us. About 40 seconds later, she came back and asked if we had seen anything we liked. We told her we were just looking around, we had come from another location to check on a specific couch but hadn't made a decision yet and wanted to explore our options (a sweet lady called Elizebeth was helping us there). She immediately began insisting on taking our information and repeatedly said she could give us a good deal on the couch. After speaking with her manager, she came back with a price she described as very good. We politely asked her to give us some time to look, but she became increasingly aggressive. She made comments like, "You will never find a better deal, that's for you, not me," and emphasized that she wasn't pushing because of commission, even though we hadn't brought that up. All we wanted was a little space to make our own decision, but the experience became very stressful. It felt like we were being pressured into making a purchase. She continued asking for our information while we were trying to talk things over, despite us asking her to wait. Her behavior came across as pushy, rude, and unprofessional, honestly one of the most unpleasant sales experiences I've had, and I say that as someone with 8 years of experience in sales. What made things worse was that she initially offered us a specific discounted price to get our information, but after we provided it, she claimed she couldn't honor that price. When we pointed out the inconsistency, she became louder and more agitated. We explained that our interest depended on the discount she had originally offered, which only seemed to frustrate her further. In the end, we decided not to purchase the couch specifically because of this experience. This type of behavior reflects poorly on the store and should not be encouraged or rewarded, especially if commission is involved. I hope management addresses this and encourages a more professional, respectful, and relaxed approach with customers instead of one that feels intimidating and aggressive. read more

My husband and I had purchased bedroom furniture and a dining room console from Ashely Furniture earlier in the year and had an excellent experience. We wanted to buy a new dining room table and chairs in the same style as the console so they matched. We called ahead and they told us the dining room table was being discontinued but they had one on the floor. We drove to the store and found the floor model, which had some wear and tear, however we wanted to purchase it despite the flaws as well as six chairs. Rowa was very helpful when we arrived. She checked with her manager on the pricing. Then we were told that the 6 chairs, console, and dining room table on the floor HAD to be purchased as a set. We explained we already had the console which is why we'd made the special trip in the first place for the matching dining room table. She again checked with her Manager and he said again it MUST all be purchased as a set. No explanation (was this corporate policy? him just playing hardball and thinking we're idiots who want two identical consoles and will capitulate?) We never found out as Rowa herself was sent back to us to deliver the messages, the Manager didn't even give us the courtesy of an explanation, even though he was pacing back and forth not helping anyone at the time. My husband left our phone number in case the store actually wants to make rather than lose money on that set (which is in the very rear of the store and most people wouldn't even see it unless they were looking for that model -- like we were). The store lost a couple of thousands of dollars today and certainly our business forever. For pieces that will not sell or will be sent to second-hand retailers for a fraction of the profit they could have made today. The salespeople here have consistently been friendly and helpful (as Rowa was) but the store is very poorly managed. Do not recommend shopping here for furniture. read more

The salesman (Kabeer) was incredibly attentive, but no pressure at all. He didn't force anything on me, but was close enough when we had questions. I'm happy to see that there is a business manager responding to feedback. Maybe this is how I'll finally get my question answered about when my bedroom set will be delivered. It's been over two months and no one, except Stephanie, has returned the multiple calls I've made trying to get an update on when my furniture will be delivered. Nick was an excellent salesman and then he fell off the face of the earth when we had subsequent questions about the delayed delivery. I've been a loyal Ashley customer for over a decade. We went there to sit on couple of couches we liked online but always good to actually sit on them and decide which one is most comfortable before purchasing. We came, we sat, we left, and we bought online once we got home as we planned. Sales people are friendly but as they told us they work on commission so of course they'll hover somewhat even if you tell them you're just looking. It's a little annoying but I guess that's part of the game. If someone is helpful in the store, you can provide their name when you order online and I think they get a commission. Okay experience so far, they said the couch won't be delivered for a couple months and we know that going in and are okay with that. I'll update this review in a couple of months once we see how things go. Based on some other reviews, I'll be watching you closely, Ashley so you better deliver (pun intended). read more
