I enjoyed stopping here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. The food prices were really low, and the choices plentiful. I ordered the "healthy breakfast" which had 2 egg whites, wheat toast, homefries, and turkey bacon. The staff was friendly and the meal came quickly. I had no problem finishing my meal within a 1/2 hour so I could get to a nail appointment at the spa next door. The kitchy decorations made me smile, including an ode to their "romeo" club - retired old men eating out. Also, there's a free municipal parking lot across the street, so there's no problem finding parking. read more

I saw this place on doordash after driving by and decided to give it a try. I ordered the 2 eggs, home fries, bacon, and toast through door dash and went it came it was still warm. The bacon was perfectly crispy and the home fries were delicious! Great portion size too! Definitely will order from here again in the future! read more

This might be the worst breakfast I've ever eaten. Crunchy vanilla French toast. Took 25 minutes to arrive after ordering in a 90% empty restaurant. When I asked how my breakfast was coming I was told this item takes a while to make. Really. What arrived was the most tasteless thing I've ever eaten. Right smack in the middle is a warm blob of vanilla pudding, I guess that's the vanilla part. A strawberry on top of the blob and drizzles of Hershey's syrup completed the disaster. This review is in response to the review by Jennifer I of Randolph. I am a regular customer here so it was no surprise I was present when the curfluffel occurred. The waitress asked the customer if she was unhappy with the service she received at Ashley's. By HER OWN ADMISSION, the customer said no she was very happy with the service. The issue arose when the waitress asked why she didn't tip? That's when the customer became aggressively obnoxious. At NO TIME was there so much as a syllable of mention about race. I've seen the waitresses here interact with customers of all races and I assure you they are extremely nice to people of all races. Ashley's is a very welcoming place. Waitresses work very hard and make next to nothing from their wages. The vast majority of their income comes from the tips they receive. It's sad that Jennifer felt the need to falsely play the race card. She has done nothing to help her own community. P.S. I have reason to believe the 80% tipping frequency Jennifer mentioned is highly suspect. read more

This is the kind of place I love to come for Sunday breakfast. The place where there seem to be more regulars than not, that the staff may or may not have been working there for the better part of their lives, and that is perfectly a-ok. Comfortable, just what Sunday calls for. The menu has the usual breakfast fare. Combos of eggs and meats and starch. But then there are the interesting items. I recently had the "Ashley's Skillet", now I don't know who Ashley is but he/she is a person after my own heart. We have been going to Ashley's for several years off and on. It is exactly what it looks like - and that is a good old diner! This is a local diner and it doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles but the service is honest and good. It is a busy place, and if you need someone to hold your hand through breakfast and ordering this isn't that type of place. These ladies are working hard and doing a fine job of getting it to the table hot and cheap. In five years I've never gotten rude service though - not sure what other reviewers are doing to get it. Everyone is always friendly and efficient - which is what I want. I've never gotten lunch here so I can't comment on the quality. I don't usually think of places like this for lunch. Diners are for breakfast in my mind. My whole family of three eats breakfast there for about 10 dollars. That's with coffee and the waitresses will always make sure they ring the order into the register in the way that makes it most economical. I honestly can't even cook a breakfast at home with as much variety as we all order for the price of Ashley's. I look forward to Ashley's breakfast and I've never been disappointed yet! I do wish they were open in the afternoons later so I could go more often. I know this is probably part of what keeps the costs down, but I'm often really in the mood for a tasty diner brinner (breakfast-dinner) and would love some Ashley's around 6pm! read more

Service was friendly, however the food was extremely unpleasant. I left there with immediate stomach pains. Both my girlfriend and I spent the afternoon feeling sick. I'm mad this place actually caught my eye and I'm also mad that I made a mental note to try it here. Bad breakfast etiquette was born here u kno.. I tested my curiosity since Kristin's Breakfast spot (way amazing) was on vacation. Why didn't I trust my gut when I walked into this outdated and shabby place? Service sucked immediately... I felt like we were bothering them just by breathing and being hungry. With our breakfast my mom and I both got a serving of rolled eyes, negligence, bad attitude, rushing us off the table with our bill, and the stank eye... it was on the house! The waitress(es) don't check on you or go around refilling your coffee. They actually poured the bottom of the pot after it sat there and got burnt... smh Food - Ordered the turkey bacon, egg whites, home fries.. which was ok The pancakes (any kind) was trash... hard, tough, waste of calories.. *sigh* I wouldn't come back here and I mean that... As I was heading into work a couple days ago I was getting hungry and looked thru Google for places to eat in braintree. I found this spot and read some of the reviews. I had an hour to kill so decided to give it a go. I looked thru the menu and finally decided on the hungry man. Got it scrambled, with bacon homefries, toast and pancakes. Everywhere else around here I've been to? Frozen. When your go-to omelette is broccoli, spinach, and feta, you find out quickly which places keep their produce in the crisper drawer and which ones just pour out some from the chest freezer. Next: The coffee. It's strong - not bitter, strong. It's fresh. It breathes new life into me, trickles into my bloodstream, knocks on my hungover brain and says, "OI. YOU, WITH THE COBWEBS. CLEAN UP IN THERE. WE GOT ^&*% TO DO." Waitresses. Experienced, observant, friendly, hustle in their step. Been in the restaurant business before, and I appreciate the hell out of that. Back to the food. Fried eggs? Perfect as ordered. Toast? Nice wheat, good rye, tasty english muffin. Home fries? Seasoned, well cooked, and a decent portion - not overflowing the plate to try to stuff you full and trick you into thinking that gorged = happy. Ashley's is a great place for breakfast. It's a really cute, totally pink restaurant with great breakfast items. They do have lunch options as well and specials on the board. It's a small place with counter seating and a handful of tables. You can totally tell some people come here everyday as the staff knew who they were and if they drank coffee or tea. I got the Tuscany omelet and it was delicious! With spicy sausage, spinach and mozzarella cheese ( think) it was good but very filling. Bf got the Ashley skillet was delicious! I almost wished I had order that but I am a huge fan of omelet and love ordering them when I get a chance. The counter adorn pictures of various dishes including pictures o f the cutest bunny shaped pancakes I have ever seen! They were soo cute! Overall, a great stop for breakfast! With SO many great breakfast places in the Quincy/Braintree area, I have no reason to go back here. The food was ok, nothing special. The portions were small. The service was...just strange. We were asked 3 times if we were ready to order when we visibly were not. When someone is actively still reading the menu, just leave them alone a bit longer, yes? Lots of loud talking from the staff. Even if they were appropriate topics (which they were not), you don't need to talk loud enough for every single table to hear you. Or maybe all those repeat customers come in for that? The local gossip and updates on the waitresses skin condition? If that's what you're in to, this is the place for you. For me? No thanks, I'm sticking with Mad Hatter down one more exit in Weymouth, or Newcomb Farms or Wheelhouse in Quincy. read more

Typical friendly neighborhood place. I wasn't really impressed with much except that our food was out less than 5 minutes after ordering. The stuffed apple pancake had cold apple pie filling in it (cold filling in a hot pancake?) and I'm pretty sure the pancakes were made from Bisquick. It would be more cost-effective and better tasting for them to make their own... Made me miss my favorite diner back home in CT. read more

Came here last Saturday. Small family type place in Braintree Center. Parking was on street and was a little tough on a weekend. We chose to sit at the counter and service was prompt and friendly. I found the menu to be a bit limited. There were a lot of a la cart options but not many traditional breakfast combo meals. I chose a bacon egg and cheese on an english breakfast sandwich and a side of pancakes. L had eggs, sausage and hash browns. I very much liked my sandwich. There was a good amount of bacon and it. I would go back and get it again. The pancakes were okay. Not bad at all but definitely not great. L however really disliked his meal. I tried his eggs and they were pretty bland. The sausages also looked almost microwaved. He wasn't a fan. We probably wouldn't be back since he didn't like it but I would go back just to get the breakfast sandwich. read more

I ordered the eggs Benedict with corned beef hash. It was absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish it but I gave it a good try. The eggs were poached perfectly, the hash melted in my mouth and the sauce was rich and buttery, potatoes were a great addition. The portion was huge and well worth it. The muffins are also delicious. Pretty huge and tasting fresh and warm. This is my new favorite breakfast place! read more

Quality local establishment. I was looking for a SEC on a bagel and Ashley's served up a good breakfast sandwich with a real egg! It was not fancy and it was much better than the processed sandwiches at Starbucks or McDs for $5. This was a quality sandwich that really hit the spot. The reviews say it all. It is a cute diner. A little worn down with a devoted group of regulars. The service is good and the breakfast fare is average. The omelets are the best thing on the menu. They are slightly above average. My biggest knock on the place is their tea selection. All they have got is lipton. Bottom line: It is worth it if you are in the neighborhood or one of their regulars. Yet, when push comes to shove, Kristin's is a whole lot better as Braintree breakfast and lunch diners go. read more

We have recently moved back to the south shore and are looking to establish a list of brekfast places. This place was highly recommended. The food is on Par with Friendly's or any other chain like that. Definitely not anything to write home about. Service is typical, coffee, order, food, check. Pretty straight forward. These types of places survive by getting you in and out., unless your a local in which they'll chat with you as long as you wish while your having the same cup of coffee. Of course it's a local place. Diner's like these usually are. Doesn't really bother me. They brew New England Coffee which I don't like so I will not hold it against them but it was fresh and better then your standard diner coffee. This place is good for families with kids as it's cheap. Also good for people who would rather not make their own breakfast, but want a standard breakfast without having to pay much for it. If you looking for something more flavorful then this is not the place for you. Breakfast has to be my favorite meal so I tend to have very high expectations so I realize that while this place may not be for me, it may be right for others. read more

I love this place. The environment is very welcoming and I always feel right at home when my mother and I eat here. All of the waitresses are extremely friendly, when we order takeout and when we dine in. You can have a great, filling meal for two for only about $25-30! It's a very small restaurant and it's not really fancy at all. It's more casual. If I could I'd only give it half a star. I went there this past Sunday. Because of reviews here on Yelp. We got there, around 1:30PM only to find out that the kitchen was about to close. So we were rushed. I ordered waffles with blueberries. I admit the lady warned me, and told me the blueberries were a pie filling. No fresh blueberries. I have NEVER in my life tasted something as disgusting as that. We got our food, and then we were rushed to eat, so they could all leave. There's NOTHING cozy about the place. It's old, and the inside definitely shows signs of wear and tear. We even got the best seat in the restaurant. I'd never go there again read more
