Asia Gourmet is a fast food Chinese restaurant that is walking distance to Oak Grove train station. There is a small parking lot directly in front of the restaurant. You can easily drive past the restaurant because it appear more like a residential home than a business. When you walk inside, you can't help but feel like the first floor of a residential home was cut out and made into a make shift business. There is a counter for ordering with an open kitchen behind the counter where food is prepared, and to your left is a small narrow seating area for diners. The space is tight with two small tables and about six chairs. We had our food to go. The service was very friendly and food was prepared quickly. To my disappointment, every dish including the bubble tea was sub par. The bubble tea was probably the worst I have ever had. We ended up throwing it away as no one wanted it. It was also expensive at $4.75. For appetizer I ordered the duck bao. This was expensive at $8.75 for two pieces, so a little over $4 per piece. What you get is shredded duck meat with some skin, thinly sliced cucumbers, and green onions. The shredded duck meat was dry and the cucumber not fresh. This was not to my expectations at all. The steamed chicken with scallion sauce rice plate was what had led us to this restaurant. I was looking up restaurants that served Hainese chicken and rice. Normally we would go to Penang or Hong Kong Eatery in Chinatown. To our disappointment, the chicken had very little meat and the rice was plain. It really does not stack up to the places I have had this dish at. We also ordered a braised beef and bean curd rice plate. The dish was okay but the flavor had a sweetness to it. I ate all of the vegetables and the tea egg that came with the meal but couldn't take more than two bites. The same was true with the house lo mein. To our disappointment, the noodle was excessively oily. I couldn't eat that either. I ended up giving my entire dinner to my brother to take home since we knew we would not be eating the food even as leftovers. I honestly wanted to like this place because the person who serviced us was so friendly. But there were clues everywhere. One of the clues, I heard the sound of a microwave going off in the kitchen while waiting for our food to be prepared. I didn't care about the interior which was cramp and dirty. I didn't care about the cheap plastic decor and all the things that was normally have me grab a menu and walk right back out the door. Yelp reviews were overwhelmingly favorable so I boldly ordered away. I really wanted another quick dinner option since this restaurant is not too far of a drive from where I live. But everything about the meal left me highly disappointed and to the point where I can't even give this place a second chance. I am really sorry, this is a no for me.

This place is amazing and it taste amazing as well!! The amazing lady who runs this special restaurant is super sweet and has the best customer service that I have ever encountered at any place. 10/10!!!

Ordered through ubereats. Everything was terrible. The chicken and broccoli had so much sauce it was spilling out the side. The white rice had black seeds in it that looked like mouse terds. It was probably a spice because they were all clustered in the middle but I'm not convinced. See picture below. You be the judge. They gave you a free crab rangoon and a spring roll with nothing in it. Im quite disappointed in this place considering the previous reviews.

    Pad Thai.

I came here for a second time, this time trying the other offerings. I got the Pad Thai for there and the proclaimed Beef Brisket Noodle Soup to go. The Pad Thai was on the spot. Not at all oily, lots of peanuts and scallions, large shrimp, chewy noodles and the crunchy bean sprouts really made my tummy happy. The lime on the side allowed me to squeeze as much citrus as I liked. I really also appreciated the wax paper underneath the plate to soak up any excess oil, though there was barely any once finished. The Beef Brisket Noodle Soup was not a joke either. Even though it was cold by the time I got home, a quick reheat of the soup in the microwave brought the broth back to life. Adding the noodles, vegetables, and beef into the soup added more flavor and delicious. Again, not oily and very filling. I hope to come back again to try something else Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Food: 5/5

    Scallion pie

Awesome place! We loved coming here for their scallion steamed chicken and scallion pie. The chicken was so juicy and tender, nice blend of scallion and sweet soy sauce to make the chicken so much more flavorful after all the chicken was steamed and it's own flavor was very subtle and nice. We also loved the dumplings we ordered, at first we thought we ordered too much food for only two grown ups and a 6 year old. It was not the case, we finished it all and ordered another round of dumplings and scallion pie. The scallion pie itself was so flaky and filled with scallion, got a really nice flavor to it. The ginger sauce that goes with it was to die for. We could literally drink it straight it was so good, a little spicy and sweet with very natural ginger flavor. You could still see the bits of ginger in the sauce. We wanted to buy a couple more of the ginger sauce they just gave them to us for free. Very friendly staff! This cute friendly restaurant is well worth the trip from Boston and prices are reasonable too. Thank you for a satisfying meal as always.

I give my highest recommendation for Asia Gourmet! It is a tiny restaurant with only 7-10 seats. But the food is wonderful! The bento box is economical and yummy! The Yunnan Rice Noodle with pork is my favorite! The location is great! It is near the oak grove station. Yes! Try it now!

    Amazing!

I forgot how swanky looking the place was, and that still impressed. -- Egg Rolls: Cradled in a wicker basket, crisp on the outside, celery, and pork on the inside, a bit dry, but good flavor. A little above average. -- Spare Ribs on the bone: Painted on every surface with a nice char to complement the glaze. A thicker cut than most. Just like last time, they looked like a reheat, but still had very good texture (tender, moist) and decent enough flavor. Above average. -- Pork Egg Foo Yong: A trio of thick patties flooded with light brown sauce. Good crispness underneath. Soft and tender with big chunks of pork that wasn't dried out. Good overall flavor from the fry, the onions, and the pork, as well as the sauce. Near-elite to elite. -- Kung Pao Chicken: A little different here, with much larger shreds of chicken, a little darker than most, less celery and peanuts than most, a profusion of peppers, and pleasing spiciness to the soy-based sauce. Very enjoyable. Above average to well above average. -- Peking Noodles: A little different, and in a good way. More of a fine shred than a crumble, much spicier, and a little gloppier. Good feel to the egg noodles. I don't get this dish often enough to compare, but I enjoyed it. No OMG moments, but no complaints. Solid lunch, flavorful entrees, and I departed with a higher opinion than before. Upping to 4 stars.

After a horrendous experience at thier Everett location a few years ago ( check my review ) , I was a little hesitant to try thier new location. And though it wasnt without a couple of hiccups , Im giving the new location a solid 4 stars ! The new location is immaculate and seemingly newly renovated ! The wood floors were gleaming , the open space was very well kept and even the bathroom was clean / orderly ! We ordered the pu pu platter for 2 , pineapple fried rice ( presented in an actual pineaple split in half ) , sesame beef and the food was exdellant !! So why only 4 stars .... Well , I wasnt crazy about the hot and sour soup. I expressed my displeasire to our waitress. She apogized and took it away ( yet it still wound up on our bill) . In thier defense, I'd taken a few sips of the soup and it was only $6 bucks so I let it go . Further, our drink orders took awhile to get to our table ( but once I again I gave them a pass because it WAS busy evening . Im mentioning these things now because they took away from our experience . In closing ( and despite those hiccups ) I'll be back and I encourage you to check it out too !

You can do a more 'Chinese style' dinner by sharing large entree items or you can get your own combo plate. I got the combo plate with 2 crab rangoons and general tso chicken. Food is pretty basic (well I did choose something basic haha). I've been here once around 8 years ago before they renovated to become this more modern Asian style. Friendly service. -- Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken: The classic dish with as many red chile peppers as bite-sized chicken nuggets. Smaller pieces than most, but crisp without being dry, and full of flavor even beyond the spice. Solid. -- Crispy Fried Pork W/ Sweet Sour Sauce: This isn't your daddy's old school Chinese American sweet and sour, and that's a good thing. But first, the pork: thin, flat slices with an even thinner batter reminiscent of tempura-- so light and crispy it crackled like broken glass. The sauce had syrup consistency, golden color instead of the old school red, and more sour than sweet. A spectacular dish if you like sweet and sour, and a good one even if you don't. -- Sautéed Pork Belly with Hot Pepper: Firm slices of pork with so little fat you can eat the whole thing without inspection. TLDR: Potentially…read moreone of my favorite Chinese restaurants in all of Massachusetts! Beautiful interior, centrally located, and delicious, high-quality food. Will definitely find a reason to come back here soon. ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] STIR-FRIED CABBAGE W/ PORK BELLY (5/5) Presentation was phenomenal (in a clay pot with its own burner underneath to keep it hot). The portion was much larger than expected, and most importantly, it tasted incredible. Generous amounts of pork in this, and the sauce was authentic and addicting. 2. SCALLION CHICKEN (5/5) Another great choice. This was a huge portion with lots of tender chicken, and the scallion was present without being overpowering. 3. CRISPY BEEF WITH FRIED DOUGH STICKS (5/5) I was expecting Chinese you tiao but these were actually the small, ultra crispy manhua twists! Paired with the beef, this was a large and unique dish that I loved. The crispiness of the mahua made this a textural delight to eat. 4. MANGO SAGO DESSERT (5/5) Big portion, wonderful assortment of toppings including grapefruit, mango, sago, and popping balls over a creamy dessert soup base. 5. PEKING DUCK (4/5) I think I'm a tough critic since I just came back from Beijing and had so much Peking duck there. We ordered the half portion here and it had a generous amount of meat for not being the full portion. There were an assortment of accompaniments, including pineapple (new to me) and sugar (like the Beijing style) which were welcome additions. The wrappers were steamed well and didn't curl up on the edges. Overall this was a solid Peking duck, but the meat wasn't as standout as I was hoping. 6. STEAMED PORK SOUP DUMPLING (4/5) Solid soup dumplings. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely hit the spot. 7. SAUTEED PEA SPROUTS (4/5) Another solid classic. 8. PORK MEATBALL IN CRAB MEAT SAUCE (4/5) This was the most unique thing we ordered. I've never had a shi zi tou meatball with crab meat sauce before. The meatball itself was large (maybe size of a tennis ball), tender, and fatty, as it should be. It was then drowned in a generous lake of traditional crab meat sauce. If you're not a fan of crab meat then this might be a bit too fishy for you, but honestly it all combined surprisingly well and I grew to like this dish more and more with each bite. I wasn't the biggest fan to start, but by the end I wouldn't have minded getting another one! ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * The interior has the classic Asian style of decor, but you can tell it was recently built / renovated because everything felt new and fresh. * The ambiance also felt more new-school luxurious vs. the typical Asian establishments that are more no-frills with as many tables packed in as possible * You're still somewhat close to the tables around you, but it's not overwhelming during lunch time and we still felt like we had enough space regardless * There's a bar area at the front of the restaurant and then a large, spacious dining room in the back * This is a great place for a date or a meaningful family gathering * Right outside is Boston Common, making this restaurant very well-located for lunch before or after a nice day in the park. While there's lots of parking around the park, a spot itself can be hard to come by, so your best bet might be to use the nearby parking garage instead ------ SERVICE: * Overall the service was great and quick. They did forget our tea, but when we asked for it later they apologized profusely and were quick to bring it out for us * This place fills up quickly so be sure to come early if you don't have a reservation or if you're a big enough group, make a reservation for your desired dining time
