To Go order: sweet daddy roll and a crunchy spicy tuna roll, as well as a chicken satay appetizer. I was told the appetizer came with 4 skewers of chicken on the phone and only got 3. The sushi was good but one of the pieces of the sweet daddy roll had no meat in it at all, it was just avocado (that's a $14 roll). The first time I ate here the crispy basil duck I ordered was very salty, which was tolerable but not particularly good. The tempura was well done, but that didn't make up for the salt. A friend of mine got the Korean sizzling beef at the same time, which looked good, so I earmarked it for my next visit. Anyhow, on my second visit I ordered the Korean sizzling beef and was mortified with what was eventually brought out of the kitchen. The sauce to create the sizzle was decanted by my server onto the hot dish with the meat whilst they were walking through the restaurant. They decanted far too much sauce onto the dish so the whole thing was spitting sauce everywhere. To make matters worse, because of all the excessive spitting the server dropped some of the meat from my dish onto the floor. I refused to have the spitting dish on my table until it had stopped spitting, as otherwise I would have been covered in it. The dish made a complete mess which was embarrassing and highly amateur. No apology from the server whatsoever, only napkins provided so that I could clean up the mess they made. Very disappointed with this complete service failure. The first time I went here was during the pandemic and the service was great and they were being very considerate of the rules of social distancing. They provided everything in carry out and so there was no contamination you could throw the plates right away when you are finished eating. I got the California rolls and they were delicious. I also got miso soup that was delicious. I did get a house salad that had ginger dressing on it and I wasn't a big fan of it but everything else I got was delicious. I had been a few times before and had an ok experience, but my boyfriend and I went yesterday, both ordered dishes that involved fried chicken (I got orange chicken), and the chicken to batter ratio was absurd in both dishes. I could barely taste chicken, it was at least 90% batter. Very poor quality, and $17 for both our meals. Sounds like they're trying to cut corners, which is very disappointing at that price. Yuck! This place reminds me of the stereotype in Chinese food. Low quality food dressed up as a meal with dishonest marketing tactics. MSG gives me a migraine, Ma'am can I get the food without MSG? Sure yes... 1.5 hrs later, worst migraine ever. Are the wings breaded? No ... order shows up with breaded wings. Can you send it back please? Waiter - if I do they will take it out of my check. Asia Nine charged us for services, then gauged us with a hidden fee after we paid full price, and then did not even deliver the food we ordered!!!... Shameful behavior. I would not trust this business in any way, and would be concerned about their health practices when it comes to COVID-19. We just came back from the hospital, as my father who has dementia had to be taken to the ER twice this week, and then endure a hospitalization. He came back in terrible shape, and we had to nurse him to health. In the process of rehabilitating him, we decided to order food instead of cooking, because it has been an extremely stressful week. We placed an order with Asia Nine, and as we were waiting hungrily for an update, we get a call from the business that we have to come pickup the food, or pay an additional $5... What?! We specifically asked for contact-less delivery, because we are in quarantine after returning from the hospital. The restaurant person said that it is because they charge extra if you are more than 3 miles away. Well, we have ordered from them a few times in the past, and they have never called us after we paid for an order to ask for more money. I asked why this wasn't transparently charged in advance, and she dodged the question. I told her to cancel the order, and she agreed. Five minutes later, she calls back to confirm that I am cancelling, and I said yes. A few minutes later, we get an additional charge of $5 on this order by email. Misleading menu on Door Dash! Be careful. I thought I was ordering three orders of sticky rice and I ended up getting three orders of regular rice that was not sweet and didn't have the coconut sauce on it. So I called and spoke with Rose and she told me that I ordered the wrong thing because and should've ordered the one with the coconut on it. I told her I didn't see anything on the menu with a sticky rice with coconut. I only saw one sticky rice so I ordered it. She told me everybody else gets it right and nobody else ever ordered it wrong. But I wasn't wrong. Sticky rice is a dessert! I think they're being misleading because sticky Rice is sweet, period. I am absolutely positive people have ordered sticky Rice from there and thought they got the desert sticky Rice but ended up getting this plain rice.I've never seen an Asian restaurant who has sticky rice on the menu and it's not the dessert sticky Rice. Seems to me like if they don't understand what sticky rice is, maybe they shouldn't serve it. Maybe what I ordered wasn't the wrong thing because as far as I'm concerned, sticky rice is a desert and that's the way I've always seen it in other Asian restaurants. Maybe it's written on the app the wrong way and I'm not sure if that was purposefully fully done or not but all I know is someone should've offered my money back, and they did not. Sushi is my middle name. You can always find me at my favorite sushi restaurant. So, when I heard that there was a new sushi place in town, I had to give it a try. It is called Asia Nine and it is located in Downtown Crown. Luckily, I had some friendly Yelper's who decided to join me. Think gold leaf decor, warm saki, and sushi. But, don't stop there...we had flaming beef( see the great photo), pad Thai, chicken teriyaki, and fried rice with chicken and beef. One diner got spicy drunken noodles and another ordered the beef noodle soup. I thought the California rolls were good. My fried rice was excellent. There were large pieces of chicken and beef. The pad Thai was very tasty and was served with enough for two. The chicken teriyaki had great flavor and was very tender. The drinks were very popular,from the warm saki to the mojitos. The service was stellar. There were at least two wait staff seeing to our every need. The manager gave us a warm welcome. This restaurant is a nice addition to the Downtown Crown. read more

I feel bad posting this review, considering the good times i have had at this restaurant in past. I have spent hundreds of dollars hosting my friends and family at this place. However I have had a really bad experience with new (and young management) at this place today. The new manager doesn't know how to do her job. In the past i have ordered meals + lots of drinks from asia 9, while my kids order from & pizza place next door. In the past, the manager had been cool with it, as I was giving them lots of money through my business. The new manager doesn't want this anymore. She clearly told me that she does NOT want my business. She told me to pack my food i had ordered from Asia Nine and go to Palador restaurant next door. I advised her that she is going lose a very high profit margin liquor orders that I was making. She told me "rules are rules". I tried again, by telling her that she will make zero dollars on an empty restaurant seat in her place. She was fine with it. I gave up and resolved never to dine at this place again. Listening to your customers who are giving you money should be first priority. read more

I'm giving 3 stars because the food here is honestly to DIE for. I mean sushi, Thai and Asian cuisine in one place with outdoor seating, what more can you ask for?! They lose stars for the constant hit or miss service they offer. Some days it's great and others day I'm not sure what you call it. Had a mishap today with the way my sushi was prepared, asked one of the servers if she could help fix the issue and she said well I can just bring it on the side. I would've been okay with that if that made sense for the dish I ordered but it just didn't. I needed my sushi remade long story short. I then asked to speak with a manager to ask if the recipe had changed seeing that I've dined here 3 times in the past week and not until today was something different. The manager, Jesse, came out quite abrasive telling me he was told how I was unhappy with the food and that we already fixed the problem so what else can he do for me. Well okay...... cool I'll just let them win this one. He offered free dessert but I don't want free dessert, I wanted to know why the item had changed.. was it me or a new menu update. Whatever, free stuff isn't always the solution sometimes a simple explanation in a proper tone of voice is all that would have sufficed. All in all, great food. Service could use some work. As a mega sushi fan, I'm delighted to have Asia Nine in my neighborhood. I'll get right to it what folks want to know. Prices: Mid-range. It's not cheap, but it's not break the bank expensive either. In my opinion, it's absolutely worth what you pay. The portions are generous and the quality is excellent. They also have some happy hour and brunch options that are affordable and fun. My housemates and I went to the all-you-can-eat brunch to try as many different things as we could manage eat in an effort to get a good feel for the place. The verdict: Seriously Delish! Sushi/fish: excellent quality fish, good flavor, good color, good presentations, some unique rolls/options. Not as broad a selection as some places I have been (a good selection though), but I have a hunch that over time, we will see the menu expand in all the right ways. Favorites: Give the Toyko roll and the salmon skewer appetizer a shot (seriously, I could eat plate after plate of those skewers...) Thai/Curry: I was particularly impressed with the Panang Curry - exceptional flavors and textures - this dish was really masterful. I was also a big fan of the Drunken Noodle. It walked that fine line between spicy and spicy; a great slow building burn here that won't destroy your ability to taste the actual spices/flavor, but you will definitely feel the heat. The Staff: Friendly, helpful, smiles and laughs. Good service, timely. Good folks. The Environment: Clean and fresh, interesting decor, and a pretty sweet bar area if you're into that. I came here for an outing with my family because I live nearby the Crown Shopping Center. Honestly, this place is just okay. The ambiance and environment as another reviewer put it is a solid 9/10! I agree that it is a gorgeous restaurant, even though it is small. Everyone's food tasted good, nothing to write home about, and the bill ended up being very expensive. I will say that the presentation of the food is very well done, my dad's meal had a huge seashell in his bowl! I'd say maybe try it once, but then head to a more authentic Asian restaurant in the future. It really isn't anything special. read more

We tried to love this place, we really really did. The pros: - the decor is interesting and comment worthy - tons of seating, and the host(ess) is very quick to seat us - it seems that no matter how busy it is, we can usually get seated within 15 minutes - the staff is polite and prompt However, the cons really makes it hard for us to make this a go-to spot: - the menu is a schizophrenic mess; there is Thai, Chinese, and Japanese all on the menu, and the fusion items just aren't that great. The thing is - each one of these types of cuisines have a very strong flavor profile and when you try to "fuse" these items together, you either get a mishmosh of flavors that don't *quite* to together, or they try to temper for the flavors so you get a very bland and pale imitation of the real thing - even when sticking to the more traditional dishes, it's still just not that great. It's OK and I wouldn't kick it out of bed, but I'm also not going to go out of my way to order average Kapow or average lo-mein That said, if you're in this new Downtown Crown area, and all the other restaurants have too long of a wait, this is a decent fall-back. Visited after some heavy drinking a few doors down during the day. Service was solid, they got the order right, just not too much attention when needed. The selection of good is pretty good. For Asian fusion, they definitely have a little bit of everything. I had their sushi and also drunken noodle and they tastes just as I would have expected. It's been a long-term goal to try every food establishment at Crown. Asia Nine was sadly one of those places. I came here with my cousin for happy hour and we decided to sit outside because of the perfect weather. Whe then checked Yelp and apparently according to a Yelp tip, happy hour was indoors only. We asked the male sever if we could still participate. He said "normally we don't, but I'll allow it for you guys." Hooray! After 5 minutes, the sever completely forgot to bring the happy hour menus. We then asked the female sever, who told us that happy hour WASN'T Mondays to Wednesdays. The first sever immediately came with the menus and it clearly stated that happy hour was Monday to Friday (4:00pm - 7:00 pm). So we really weren't sure what the female sever was talking about. For the happy hour, we ordered the Dynamite Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll. The Dynamite Roll was by far my favorite sushi offered and was quite scrumptious. Spicy Tuna was mediocre at best. We then got to the main course: Lasagna and 007 rolls. First complaint was that both rolls were incredibly mushy and warm, ruining the taste. Second, we found two eyelashes on different rolls. Overall, I wasn't impressed. Apparently the entrees here are pretty good. But honestly, Yoyogi Sushi is a 5-minute drive and offers higher quality sushi and entrees for about the same price. The same apparently goes for Yuraku in Germantown. So I most likely won't be coming back here. Oh and on top of that, I had a massive stomach ache right after. After living across the street for over a year, we finally made it to Asia Nine. Why did we wait so long?!? Everything was delicious! The Kapow chicken was spicy and had such interesting flavors-the menu called it Thai comfort food. I would definitely order this again. The red curry with beef was very flavorful, but we wished it had some mixed vegetables to add texture. The chicken teriyaki was exactly what our picky teen expected, and he ate nearly his entire serving. There are a few guilty pleasures in life... and this place is one of them for me. Location and Feel: Asia Nine is nestled in the center of Downtown Crown Plaza in Gaithersburg MD. With a Plaza that is filled with food options from AtoZ this Thai restaurant has to be one of my favorites. The atmosphere during lunch is perfect as they have a shaded outdoor patio and as well as a large open seating area indoors. Forward to Happy Hour or Dinner time, and the unique/exotic wall to wall decor makes for a Romantic and somewhat classy evening dinner and drinks spot. The Food: I LOVE Thai food. I have had the opportunity to try many Thai restaurants in the DMV area, everything from small hole in the wall shops to larger well known establishments. The food at Asia 9 has to be some of the best, most authentic tasting food I have had. The dishes are always flavorful and fresh.
