Bonus points for being directly across from a parking garage, which currently offers the first 90 minutes free! This is a great spot to take friends or on a fun date night. We chose to sit outside on the cute multicolored chairs and loved the view of the park next door. The patterned plates and mason jar-style cups were such a cute touch to make the whole experience feel cozy and homey. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and even the same attention to detail to decor and ambience was applied in there. The service was great -- our server was attentive and helpful, and there was a busser on standby quick to clear empty plates so we always had plenty of table space. We felt checked on the perfect amount throughout the meal, and the appetizer came out before the entrees -- as it should! Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. We realized chopsticks hadn't originally been brought out with our meal, but after asking our server, she brought them over promptly. I've been to the DC location once and liked it, but this location has tons more personality. Came for a solo dinner. Popped in about an hour and 10 minutes before they closed. The vibes inside are very bright and colorful. I love the decor in here. It is so cute and eye-catching. The decor alone makes the entire meal feel like an experience. I was torn, so I ended up ordering small plates and a Thai iced tea. Thai tea: on the sweeter side, but very good - more orange than red or brown.IYKYK Crab and shrimp dumplings: good. I think I would've preferred them with soy sauce instead of the sweeter sauce, but these were good. Great the next day, too. Chive pancake: pretty good. This was my first time getting an entire order for myself and I don't think I would do it again because it's not my thing, but I won't knock it simply because it's not my preference. Tom ka: this soup was so damn good. It says spicy, but it really wasn't that spicy. However, it was incredibly flavorful and addicting. I probably could've had just one huge bowl of that. They charged one dollar extra for shrimp, which I didn't love, but it was worth it. There were three pretty good size shrimp in that one little bowl. This was just a quick run in to pick up an online order. The pad si yu (many variations on the spelling from other places) is usually my go to because I like the flat noodles which reminds of the Cantonese beef chow fun. The noodles with Chinese broccoli and pork were very good. The portion size seemed a little on the small side as it didn't really fill the container. Regardless, food was tasty. I love the decor in here, it's so festive and eye catching. Their customer service is on point, our server was friendly and hospitable. I loved the flaky crust of the curry puffs and the filling was well seasoned, I really enjoyed the dipping sauce that came with it, it was sweet and refreshing. I can't tolerate spicy foods as I used to, so the medium spice for Catfish Dry Curry was good, though next time I will get it mild. Their Pad Thai is pretty good - kind of hard to mess that dish up. Located in Rockville Town Square features perhaps the best Thai restaurant I've been to. This place has outdoor and indoor seating where upon arriving I was sat right away and was handed water and a menu. Luckily I already knew what I wanted so I went with Spring Rolls and Pad See Ew, my go to combo. The Pad See Ew, which is a simple dish that is consists of Wok-Fried Fresh Wide Rice Noodles, Chinese broccoli, Egg, Dark Soy Sauce, and White pepper. It is also similar to Drunken Noodles which feature almost the same ingredients but they use chili & basil sauce instead of Dark Soy Sauce. Classic Thai Dish is certainly a must get every time if you like noodles. Anything Stir Fried to me is always a pleasure to eat! The Spring Rolls are pretty much like what you'd expect. The interior of the restaurant is really funky and fun to admire! I ordered the shrimp fried rice and it was savory and delicious! The shrimp was well fried and I really wished there was more! The fried rice was good but I wished there some bits of meat or small pieces of shrimp mixed throughout. Thai Chef has been on my list of places to visit for so long, and I finally made it! As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted by the host and seated. The space is bright, colorful, and unique. Even the tables and chairs stood out with the colors and patterns. They had a lunch special available, so we all took advantage of that- an entree and non-alcoholic drink for $16. Was disappointed that the pork belly special was sold out. Review of what we did order (from the regular menu) follows. Green Curry with chicken - tasty with very little (barely perceptible) heat (ordered "medium spice"). Pad Thai with chicken and beef - tasty with no heat (also ordered "medium spice"). Although tasty (well seasoned), the beef was very chewy (seemed overcooked). The chicken was slightly better - a bit dry but not excessively. Fortunately, we were able to also get chili flakes and chili paste to amp up the spiciness to the desired level. Chicken Satay was the standout for flavor. I asked for extra meat and got a ton of extra meat which was great but only 3 broccoli. Overall, sauce and flavor 4/5, chicken a little dry kind of wish I got a different meat. I originally came here because I was craving thai food and because I used to work nearby and I had always wondered what happened to the space. Unfortunately I think that I had hyped this place up in my head so my experience ended up being a little bit disappointing. I came here for dinner on a week night so I had no problem getting a table. The staff was nice but service felt very transactional. They have a two hour time limit for you to sit and eat and considering the fact that this isn't an all you can eat spot (it's just a regular sit down restaurant) I really felt the pressure to hurry up and eat. If the busser wasn't in a hurry to clear my plates from the table (sometimes before I was even done eating) then the server was either trying to get me to order when I wasn't ready (she was asking if I wanted dessert and a takeout box when my entree hadn't even gotten to the table yet) or would pass my table many times when it was easy to see I needed a refill on my water. I had asked about the green pineapple mocktail and it sounded good so I tried to order it but I don't drink anything carbonated so I asked if they could just switch the club soda for lemonade and my server said that they don't do any modifications or substitutions for the mocktails so I just stuck with water. While I can understand why it seems a bit limiting for those who may have dietary restrictions. I ordered the calamari and the rocket shrimp for my appetizers. The rocket shrimp was a piece of shrimp wrapped in a spring roll wrapper and deep fried. There were four pieces in total and the shrimp had no seasoning or flavor. The only flavor came from the dipping sauce which was a sort of house made duck sauce and they were pretty greasy. The calamari was cooked well and not overly chewy. It did have quite a bit of breading and although the flavor of the seasoning was good it was more salty than I can handle. I ended up sending back the calamari and asked for a Tom Yum soup. It was a small portion but it had a good amount of vegetables and three or four pieces of of decent sized shrimp in it (you can choose what protein you want in your soup). The soup had a nice tangy flavor and there was enough spice to taste the heat but not overwhelmingly so. For my entree I ordered the Tom Yum Chicken Fried Rice and asked for the spice level to be mild. You can definitely taste the Tom Yum flavor and the mild spice was just enough for me to handle. I will say that my experience had been disappointing enough to the point where I just boxed up my rice and left because I just didn't want to stay somewhere I am being pressured to hurry up and leave. I have been here a few times -- twice for lunch with colleagues and most recently for dinner -- and the food has consistently been reasonably good. This time, my partner and I started with Tom Yum soups, which were flavorful and nicely balanced. I ordered the Breast of Duck Curry, and my partner had the Massaman Curry with pork. Both dishes were excellent, rich in flavor, and generously portioned. I love the vibrant decoration and space that they have created. I had jasmine tea, and my partner ordered an alcoholic beverage that she really enjoyed. Service is friendly overall, though it could be a bit more attentive at times -- but the staff is polite and clearly trying. The restaurant felt a little cold inside, though it was a very cold night, so that may have contributed. Parking can also be hit or miss depending on how busy the area is, especially since there's an ice-skating rink right next door, which draws a crowd. I've been going to Thai Chef Street Food since they first opened, and they have never disappointed me. I love the ambiance, the friendly staff, and best of all--the food! Last night, I tried the claypot noodles for the first time, and it definitely won't be my last. It was incredibly delicious, especially paired with the hot, tingling sauce. My favorite dishes have always been the catfish dry curry, Southern Comfort, and the pork salad--they're consistently amazing. I feel welcomed every time I walk in. Thai Chef is one of my all-time favorite spots--I've been here over 20 times, and it never disappoints when it comes to the food and vibe. The Classic Fried Rice is exactly that: classic, comforting, and consistently delicious. I also absolutely love their curry dishes--full of flavor, rich, and satisfying. The menu is packed with options, and everything I've tried has been on point. The drink menu deserves a shoutout too. They offer a great variety of cocktails and mocktails, which is such a thoughtful touch for Muslims or anyone avoiding alcohol. The mocktails are fun, refreshing, and beautifully presented. The ambiance is another major win--bright, colorful, and so aesthetic. Every corner of the place is basically an Instagram-worthy photo op. Now... I do have to mention the one consistent issue: the bathroom. Unfortunately, it has a strong odor, and it's been this way every time I've visited. There are no windows, and while they've tried to mask it with candles, it doesn't really help. It's honestly pretty unpleasant, and I avoid using it altogether. That said, I keep coming back because the food, drinks, and atmosphere more than make up for that one downside. Sunday 10/13/2024 I remember coming across this spot a couple of months ago when I saw an instagram post/story about the best Thai in MD so I had to find out for myself. I made an uber eats order and got the D.U.I with chicken (drunken noodles) $17, chicken satay $10, panang curry with chicken $17, and the rocket shrimp $10. - The D.U.I was slightly above average with a nice spicy kick but it wasn't anything special. Also $17 for the portion you get is pretty expensive. - The panang curry was easily my favorite item and was pretty good when it comes to flavor & taste. - The chicken satay came with 4 chicken skewers and 2 sauces: peanut sauce & a sweet sauce. The chicken satay looked a lot better in the pics when compared to what I got. They were alright but I've definitely had better. - The rocket shrimp looked significantly better & bigger in the pictures compared to what I ended up getting. They came with 4 shrimp and a side of a sweet (& slight sour) sauce for them. I know shrimp can be expensive but $2.50 per shrimp "rockets" isn't worth it to me. Overall, this was an okay Thai food experience but it didn't really do much for me in terms of my expectations regarding taste, look, and flavor of the food (the panang curry was good tho). read more

Just taste like shrimp wrapped in egg roll wrapper and the sauce is just the Thai sweet chili sauce. The pad Thai was good and something i would get again. The Chinese sausage fried rice - like others said was bland and i didn't realize it was going to be so sweet. They tasted like maple sausages, but this may be standard for those kinds of sausage. The service was just okay, it seemed like there was only one server caring for everyone. The other thing I would add is the 20% sub charge is a little crazy. The catfish dry curry had lots of flavor and cooked well with good texture. The Panang Curry had a weird taste to it, did not taste like any other I've had. Didn't taste much coconut nor sweetness. The interior is very clean and spacious with cool decoration on the ceiling. For appetizer, we order the rocket shrimp and for my entree I had the Tom yum fried rice. The shrimp was crispy and when dip into the sweet & sour sauce it just enhances the flavor overall. The fried rice overall was good but not great. The staff was very friendly, refilled our water often, and check in periodically to make sure our needs were taken care of. I very rarely post a negative review but felt compelled to do so because this restaurant was featured on the Eaters Washington DC best Thai restaurants list. The pad Thai was overly sweet but I didn't say anything to my lunch companion because perhaps it was only me. Some of the pumpkin pieces in the shrimp curry were undercooked though the sauce was spicy and delicious. Our server didn't check back with us after the delivery of our entrees. When she did come by with a water refill, I felt it was too late to say anything about the food issues because we had eaten a third. I finally look at my friend and said, "I've had better Thai food in a multitude of Thai restaurants in the area." "Too sweet!" she replied without prompting and thought the other dish was just average. Perhaps it was an off day at this restaurant for these particular entrees because every dish for other tables looked and smelled delicious.
