Fantastic Sushi and I've been all over New England, as far as the rest of their food goes (Cantonese/ American Chinese) it's very sub-par. Everything is covered in sauce over salted, cheap meat just poor quality stuff that I would not expect from what I thought to be such a nice place. I will continue to come back again and again for the sushi. Check your order if you're picking up and even if you're sitting in! They've messed up something in my orders 3/4 times whether it be the kind of rice, a certain type of roll or leaving it out completely. So far the best place in the area! Pretty standard sushi and Chinese. I had the Chirashi sushi which was 8 pieces of sushi on top of rice - good fish, definitely fresh and tasty. My bf's red pepper shrimp and pineapple was the best dish at the table - spicy and flavorful, reminded me of panang curry. My mom's "creaky chicken", a house special, looked and tasted a lot like general tso's... not sure what makes it creaky! And my dad's volcano beef was extra spicy and peppery upon request The staff were all very friendly, and it was fairly quiet especially for a Saturday night. Had lunch at Asian Bistro today. Started out OK, but dipped to mediocre quick. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken lunch with a shrimp eggroll. The lunch plates come with a soup and chicken salad. The Hot and Sour soup i chose was good, but pretty spicy. Not a big deal for me, but for sensitive folks it might be a bit much. The "chicken salad" is some iceberg lettuce with a little bit of chicken on top. Not ground breaking, but this fairly simple, pre-dressed salad is actually VERY good. Little did I know would become the highlight of this meal. The shrimp eggroll was a little soggy and not the greatest I've ever had. The Kung Pao chicken dish was where things really unraveled. It would better be described as Salted Kung Pao Chicken. Not only was it very salty, but the mystery chicken bits (cant think of any better description) where previously fried and burnt slightly during that process which was pretty evident. On a side note, the price is low. My meal, including an iced tea was only a tick over $10. With a little bit of work on the food (atmosphere and cleanliness are decent) this place could increase a couple stars easy. read more

Came here with a group of friends for an early Friday night dinner. Service was initially a little slow, it took about 10 minutes for a waiter to come to our table. After that, though, we were served our entrees within 15 minutes of placing our order, and the waiters came by the table often enough that we didn't feel forgotten. Portions were nice and big. I got the house special lo mein, which was very good. I asked for it extra spicy, and I could've used a little more chili oil, but it wasn't mild either. There were some flies in the restaurant but it was nothing that impacted our meal. Beer prices were very cheap, which was a nice plus. The food was great however the service was absolutely terrible..my cousin is allergic to lobster and mentioned it to the waiter and he literally said "then don't order something with lobster" as if she didn't already know not to. Recently went here for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't try the sushi, but the chinese food is a notch above every other take out place in the area, that I've had. I got fried dumplings, szechuan shrimp, and mongolian beef. Everything was well seasoned and full of flavor they even used the whole dried peppers in the dishes to add a solid kick of spice, which is something I would expect from a more upscale restaurant. I ordered take out online and it was a breeze and was ready when I went to pick up it. I will say this however, I also recently tried the winooski location and got the exact same dishes. DO NOT GO TO THE ONE IN WINOOSKI. The difference in the quality of the food was like night and day. If I didn't know any better I would think these are completely different restaurants but the decor suggested otherwise. From reading other reviews on here I question whether the 2 and a half stars is merited for this place. I would venture to guess that some of these people may have eaten at the winooski location. read more

The menu is very expansive, offering Chinese staples, Thai and sushi. I get a real Jack of all trades, master of none vibe from this place. Sushi was okay - just average. Average taste, average presentation. Prices are a bit expensive for the quality of what you're getting. read more

The Asian Bistro is my low cost, yet pretty good food and service, go to option. It's not a place to take out-of-state relatives you want to impress. It's the restaurant you go to because you don't feel like cooking tonight. They are traditionally understaffed so tables will remain uncleaned for a disappointing period of time. The atmosphere is also a bit bleak. Even so, it's still a solid 2.5 in my book. read more

Terrible customer service. I ordered takeout online today not a huge order either. When I went to go pick it up it took 20 minutes for someone to even bother to help me. I don't understand how they can't hear their obnoxiously loud front door every time someone walks in. So once one of the employees asked me if I needed to order I informed him that I placed an online order to which he quickly states he has no online orders. He then under his breath goes what is wrong with our online ordering and then just stands there staring at me like I'm some alien from another planet. I ask him are you sure you don't have my order and he just shakes his head and again awkwardly stares at me...no apology or concern for my invisible order apparently. I then proceeded to tell him forget it and walked out as he continued to just stare at me. I honestly don't understand how this restaurant manages to stay open when the employees have no idea how to run a restaurant. This is definitely the best sushi in Vermont that I've uncovered. The Chinese is good but the sushi is something special considering the total lack of great sushi in the region... and so fresh!?!?! Eh, it's kind of an 'I could live without it place'. The food is just alright, pretty standard sushi and Asian fare. They have a decent lunch special if you are looking to save some money but it's better spent somewhere else. The atmosphere is pretty much non existent seeing as no one is ever in there. The man who brought us to our seat never smiled, mumbles and you got the feeling is wasn't happy to see us and he doesn't want to work there. The waitress was the same way. The sadness just waifed off of her. She never smiled, didn't make eye contact, and it made us feel awkward being there. If these people don't want to work there, they shouldn't. If it's a family business and they are being made to work there, their attitudes are going to drive away business. I'll order out next time, so I don't have to encounter this again. read more

Had to flag down a waiter after waiting over 10 minutes for a waiter to show at our table. Only saw him again when he delivered our food and drinks, then had to flag him down again to ask for the check. No refills of water, no checking to see if our meals were ok. He didn't seem surprised when he asked if we wanted boxes for our mostly uneaten meals and we said no. They seem very disinterested in their customers. I have been here a few times before but tonight I went with a few friends and had the worst experience of our lives. Felt very violated! Our server reached over the table and slapped my arm, I believe to be in a joking way. But was not okay at all! He would not leave us alone, leaned over the booth in a creepy way more than once. We were seated right away, our drinks and food order were also taken quickly, however, our waiter disappeared, we waited 25 minutes for our food and drink refills. After the long wait, the food I have to admit was very good, the miso soup had tons of tofu and the sushi was also very good. quick service and cheap prices, but not the best chinese i've ever had. two stars. i came here on a tuesday for lunch. the place was pretty empty, so i was seated immediately and the server came out right away. i was pleased to see how reasonably priced the lunch menu is -- i had cashew chicken and got out of there for less than $8 (tax and tip included). nice! but you get what you pay for. the dish was saturated with sauce and the rice it came with was very bland (supposedly fried rice -- i couldn't taste anything, though). i'd recommend this place if you want some quick and cheap eats. if you're looking for an authentic chinese experience, though, i'd be hardpressed to recommend asian bistro. read more
