So apparently My husband and I don't appear trustworthy. This evening after eating dinner at The Asian Buffet, one of my favorite Asian restaurants to frequent (despite the rapidly deteriorating decor and restroom facilities), we attempted to pay our $27 bill with cash. One of the $20 bills was the old design. The cashier refused to accept it. She used the special pen to check for counterfeit, and while it made an obvious mark, she still refused. They called the restaurant owner who also told them not to accept it because it was an old style bill. We had quite the back and forth "discussion" in which I quoted from the U.S. Federal Reserve website that "All U.S. currency remains legal tender, regardless of when it was issued," and they had no right or reason to refuse. We went back and forth for quite awhile. Finally I told her if she wouldn't accept my money, then she needed to give it back to me. She refused to give my money back. Ultimately, and against my better judgement and all principle, we offered to pay the bill with a credit card. She still refused to give us the cash back and refused to accept our credit card because in her words - she didn't know if it was legitimate credit card. I'm not going to lie. I was pissed. I wasn't out of control, but I was angry. The cashier called the police, which we welcomed at that point. A very professional and polite police officer arrived quite quickly, assessed the situation, made the cashier return our cash and accept the credit card. We had a nice conversation with him. He gave us back the bill, told us he could see the pen mark and had no reason to suspect it's validity. He told us that sadly people try to pass counterfeit bills pretty regularly, but they're usually $100 bills, not $20 bills. He suggested that we have our bank check it just to be sure and asked us to give him a call and let him know how it turns out. He said it was quite obvious from our conversation with him that we were "upstanding folks" and chalked it up to a possible language barrier. I respectfully disagreed. That cashier understood everything we were saying without any doubt. I remember saying repeatedly throughout the whole altercation, "This is absolutely ridiculous." That young woman had the audacity to unnecessarily and without cause perpetuate a scene and call the police - all over a measly $7!!! Bottom line for us - we will NEVER, EVER go to The Asian Buffet again. read more

I have been to this Buffet many times over the years, as it is near my home. Some of my prior experiences were decent after a hard day of band camp, But I will be describing my latest experience at this very desperate restaurant. When I walked in, I realized just how hungry I was, I saw the chicken and steamed broccoli and my taste buds instantly started to tell me to Eat EAT EAT. I quickly grabbed a plate and dived in. Tasty Lo mein, Juicy beef and chicken and broccoli in brown sauce, Crunchy and succulent spring and egg rolls, Buttery and delicious crab legs. when I sat down, My food almost fell off the full plate. I was so exited to fill my mouth with this amazing Chinese food! At first, I put the beef and chicken into my mouth, I felt my taste buds dancing with the brown sauce. I allowed them to explore the grand Lo Mein noodles, I felt the flavor of the spring and egg rolls run around my mouth. I was in Heaven, But, 5 minutes into my first plate, the flavor felt different, and odd. While my tastebuds were dancing with the brown sauce, I felt an unpleasent tang, the brown sauce, amidst the dancing, proceded to take out a Katana sword and viciously stab my taste buds. The Lo Mein noodles began to strangle the flavor on my tongue, and release a doughy, rotten flavor. The crab legs pinched my flavor receptors and let out an old, decaying smell squeeze out of my stomach. and the spring and egg rolls started to let their retched smell of rotten lettuce ooze out. My Taste buds were viciously murdered, and my stomach and mouth reeked of rotten food and death. The exit of the food was not pleasant either, to say the least. At first Asian Buffet seems very nice and cheap, but Deep down inside, It is a rotten place, they will seduce you their sheer variety of Chinese food, but don't be fooled, The brown sauce will trick your taste at first, but when its true colors decide to show, It will stab your tongue with a rotten and jagged dagger. 2/5 stars I would have given it 1/5 stars, but they have Coke products, and Coke is better than Pepsi. read more

Do not dine here if you wish to be treated well. Servers dont talk to you or even smile, but when we showed up with a group of 8, they hovered over us during our meal, made us pay BEFORE we finished eating, and then "reminded" us that we needed to leave a tip. (I have never stiff a server on a tip, and had dined here many times before and always tip for good service). Complained to lady at the front door and advised we would not be back after the way we were treated. Her reply? "Sorry". Obviously she was not. This is a typical Chinese restaurant except they offer more of American style fare compared to some of the other Chinese restaurants in the area. One thing they offer is sushi and hibachi that is included in the price of the buffet. I normally order from the hibachi which is stocked with with fresh vegetables, meats, and seafood. The sushi is prepared while you watch and for a buffet isn't bad especially when it's at an AYCE Chinese place. If your looking for top notch Chinese probably not for you but if you want a good selection at a great price you might want to try it! read more

Definitely one if the better asian food buffets in the Dayton area. They have fresh-made sushi there and a stir fry area as well where you can choose your ingredients and sauce and they cook it up for you there. Not very expensive. Gets quite crowded during dinner rush. read more

Best buffet in Montgomary for sure. Love the food, and we go often. But many don't speak English, and if moved to their country, I would learn the language first. The young male manager gives awesome customer service, as do the wait staff--but cooks give attitudes. read more

We had to hunt the waitress down for refills & then when she brought the check (before we were done) she tried to insist we pay her right then. We brought it to their attention at the front (after being asked if everything was ok) & they said they would talk to her about it & for me it was over but while we were waiting for the cashier to finish ringing us up the waitress came flying around the corner raising her voice. At this point I asked for the managers name to call back on Mon. I received a few looks followed by the run around about when he would be available. My family and I have gone here quite often. Tonight we go there and there is an angry woman because none of the employees are listening to her. She saw a worker place a dumpling that was sitting on the countertop back into the pan of dumplings, without gloves on, contaminating the whole pan of dumplings. Hence her hands and the countertop were both dirty. I never saw the employees bring out fresh ones as customers continued to put them on their plates. The people in the booth next to us were putting on an r-rated show with each other and there were grown male customers walking around bare footed. I have been going here since they opened and I have always enjoyed my food so today I went with my son for lunch after we got done we were sitting there talking and then I seen a COCKROACH!it came out of the sugar holder on the table we went right to the desk and told them and took one of the ladies back there and she seen it and killed it then they didn't even say they were sorry! On July 3rd, 2013 Me and my partner were visiting this restaurant. While we were dining she alerted me there was a cockroach crawling on the seat behind me. I immediately jumped up and alerted the waiter. (She understood English just fine the entire time we were there mind you) All she did was nod and say ok. She walked away and started helping the guests upfront. No one apologized, no one squashed the darn thing NOTHING!! I filed a complaint with BBB. I live in Dayton and have been here 2 times in the past 4 months, which is 2 times too many. This is close to many hotels on the Miller Lane strip and I want to warn everyone to stay away. The only reason my wife like the chineese buffets are the crab legs that are offered. Our first visit a few months back was on a Wednesday evening and the crab legs were rubbery and soft from sitting in the water way too long. We thought perhaps it was just an off night for them. We returned the other night on a Friday evening thinking they would be a little busier and therefore the crab legs would be turning over a little faster and perhaps be better. WRONG, my wife said they were worse than the first time around, and the melted butter to dip them in was even worse. It tasted more like butter flavored oil than butter. The kids tried the pizza and it wasn't much better, cold and dried out cheese. If you must go here I would suggest to stick with the grill, it's not too bad, Fresh veggies and chicken and beef are the offerings and they will grill it while you wait. just wonderful. this is just about as good as you can imagine a chinese buffet. they have a mongolian grill and some of the best buffet sushi. a bargain where the only thing it leaves me wanting is squid for the grill and alcohol (at least bottled tsingtao) for customers who want it. i'm glad to see it busy and hope they can stay for a long time to come! read more

This is by far the worse dining experience I've ever had. The staff were extremely rude and obnoxious. I went to enjoy a meal with a friend of mine and while she was still dining I decided to go outside for a cigarette. The staff chased me down claiming I was trying to leave without paying mind you my friend was STILL sitting there dining. The man at the front desk then exclaimed to me I shouldn't have left and never apologized either(I ended up giving him a piece of my mind as any New Yorker would). I am from out of town and I will never EVER eat there again. They should really work on being more customer friendly and less rude and disgusting. I have never wrote a review for a restaurant before but I had to for this time. I think this was the worst Chinese buffet I have ever had and I eat Chinese food all the time. I thought with all the great restaurants in this location that this would be a great one as well. Boy was I disappointed. Especially because I live only a couple of miles from here. I went there at about 3:30 pm and several of the main dishes were empty. No one seemed concerned to refill them. I waited until finally they brought out some fresh food and it still didn't taste good. The food quality just seemed sub par. Food was cold and the egg rolls were greasy. We were on vacation to visit the Air Force Museum. Really wanted Chinese and this place was close. Worst food I have ever tried to eat. NO flavor, no heat, no spice. General Tsos Chicken was so hard you couldn't cut it. Variety was poor. Frog legs looked sick, no one was eating them. Some of the hot food was cold. Afraid to eat that, don't know how long it had sat out. Even the pepper chicken was not spiced enough. Food was bland. Waitress never asked to refill drinks until we were ready to leave. Didn't ask if we enjoyed the food (even after seeing plates half full of food.) Really disappointed. This was my second time here. I love buffets, and did like this one until i was overcharged. I went with my family, and our bill came to $44. My husband left a $6 tip, so our total was $50. But when I looked at my account a couple of days later to see what cleared, I saw that Asian Buffet had charged $60. Why did my bill jump $10 mysteriously? Did they change the amount of my tip from $6 to $16? And unfortunately, the receipt that we had didnt show the tip, so I couldnt go back and ask what happened. Beware!!! Party of four got charged $36.45 for lunch on a weekday. That was AFTER we used a 50 cent off per meal coupon. The original bill was $38.45. After I got home I thought the price just didn't seem right so I called back and asked the guy how much four lunches should have been and he said "$31.20 including tax and then $29.20 after the coupon." We'd all had water to drink. I told him where we'd been sitting and described the server. He said maybe she'd 'accidently' charged for 5 people because that would have been around $39 but he'd check into it. He called me back about ten minutes later and said she'd mistakenly charged us for drinks but they'd caught the error at the register and she'd tried to return the overcharge to us. How does she 'accidently' charge us for drinks when she's the one refilling water glasses? And how does the guy in the front catch the error when he doesn't know what we're eating or drinking? Further confirmation that their story is a lie is that after I paid her (and a good tip to boot) our party of four sat and talked for ten to fifteen minutes before we got up and left. AND the server was near the front door and thanked us for coming and told us to have a nice day. Sure, when she'd thought she'd gotten away with over charging us by $7.25 she was very friendly I certainly can't recommend a place that regularly tries to get away with over charging their patrons. I caught them once before charging an extra $5+ that they couldn't explain. I drove back to the restaurant and got my $7.25 back yesterday. Won't be going to Asian Buffet again. Their food isn't anything special. Not bad but not great. But their regular policy of 'accidently' overcharging their customers is totally unacceptable. read more

I think I should write a review for this restaurant. I was hesitating to go to this restaurant based on other's reviews. But due to a friend recommended restaurant closed during the July 4th weekend, I picked this one as a replacement. I was glad that I did so. The food is fresh and has a lot of varieties including crab legs and frog legs. The place is clean and each table has a lot of surrounding room. And the price is attractive too.
