We ordered takeout here tonight, and I wish I could give more stars. Great, family owned business. Reasonable prices, and large menu selection. Our 20 minute wait turned in to 1 hour, which was unfortunate. Upon arrival, they were swamped with orders, so it was understandable, I just wish we would have known ahead of time. Tonight we had general tso's chicken, chicken and broccoli, and the curry dish with tofu. All was fresh, and tasty. The last time we ordered takeout we had a similar situation with the wait. I would recommend adding an additional 10-15 minutes (at least) before heading in for pickup.

So first time here. Pleasantly surprised. I drive past this place all the time but never think of them when we want Chinese ... well that changed tonight. We were driving down the road and talking about what we wanted for dinner and settled on Chinese -- got to the light and turned back around to look at the online menu here. You can order online .. but I walked in to order. Pics of inside included with the review. You park outside in the lot and walk to the side entrance. The owners are very friendly. Took a little longer than expected to get the food but I would rather them be busy now than not! Have to say - the food was good -- one of the better egg rolls we have had too. Got the combo lo mein ( no shrimp) - hunan pork (my fav of the night) with fried rice and Kung pa chicken with steamed rice... everything was really good! Remember folks - try something new -- go to a place you may have never tried before just to help out small business even now. Oh... and tip folks. The lady behind the counter was shocked ( but happy) I put a tip on a take out order. Help out business now so we can enjoy for yrs to come! It means the world to them!

Today, I ordered the chicken lo mein and fried dumplings. It was delicious! They serve you a good serving of lo mein. The fried dumplings are awesome!!

This is a very decent take out Chinese and Thai restaurant. Although there are a few booths and tables, it's really more of a takeout place and the ambience doesn't lend itself to dining in. I decided to order the Mongolian Satay Beef since it was in the chef specialty list and also was had a positive mention in other reviews. I wanted some vegetables so I got broccoli in hot garlic sauce. The meal came with a very large portion of steamed white rice. My meal was good, not greasy or too salty and servings were plentiful. I wouldn't order the Mongolian Satay dish, though. Although it was posted as a spicy item, it didn't taste too spicy hot to me and there were too many onions and scallions for my taste. The broccoli was very good, cooked just right and tasty with the sauce. It would have been a full dinner to have just a large serving of the broccoli with rice. I'm not a fan of white rice. I'm not sure if they had brown rice but I didn't see it mentioned in the menu and I wasn't asked if I wanted brown or white. Service was friendly and it was about a 10 or 15 minute wait in the restaurant for my order to be ready. Prices are reasonable and they have a very large menu. I'd try this place again when I want some Chinese or Thai take out.

This little place has been in our neighborhood for quite some time, I don't know why I never visited it before. Perhaps it is the abundance of Chinese restaurants that we have. Or, the fact that I really do not like those grab and go take out Chinese joints. But, a week ago I decided to give it a try and guess what? I'm back again. The former Kentucky fried chicken restaurant has been converted. There are tables and they offer table service. Although I did not dine in. There were two people there both times I went, a man and a woman. Both are extremely pleasant, the woman smiles when she talks to you. She makes you feel warm and welcome. And you can see that they are working hard in the kitchen making the food from scratch. Not the premade foods that you find in many quick fix Chinese. The main reason I went back is because of the dumplings. There is a certain dumpling that I absolutely love. That you cannot find anywhere but on some buffets. They are not your typical dumpling. You know, the ones that are crescent moon shaped and an inch or so thick, the dough is heavy, and the meat inside is a giant clump. While tasty, they aren't my thing. But! Asian café has the dumplings I love. They're different. They're flat. There are about 2 inches long and the dough is paper thin and melts in your mouth. As long as they don't change just dumpling recipe I will keep on going back. I'm a creature of habit. When I find something I like I stick with it. Rarely do I vary off the normal path of my ordering or I get disappointed. The last time I was there I had mei fun noodles, this time I opted for the shrimp lo mein. Needless to say I was not disappointed. I was very happy with my choice. The shrimp was tender, and the noodles dance with flavor. They weren't dry like most places, the noodles and sauce were moist. I have to try the eggroll next time. And perhaps the soup. I didn't do so today because I didn't want to crush my appetite on those dumplings. That was the main reason I went. Asian café is a winner! I plan on visiting this place often. Especially since my favorite restaurant Chinese restaurant has now closed down. Take a chance you won't be disappointed

Not only do they look great, they taste great. It's always great to find a location that takes pride in their mixed drink selection. The only flag I have is if you order the Honey Bee Martini be prepared to feel like a bee is stinging you every time you take a sip. I enjoy spice, but even this had enough kick to make me savor it periodically. Disclaimer: Taste the flower at your own risk. Remember the saying, "Curiosity killed the cat". - Food: 4 / 5 Appetizer - When you think American cuisine, what do you picture? A hamburger? Hot dogs? An American Flag on the back of a Ford F-150 with a bald eagle in the driver seat? Even though all those can be true, I think of Crab Rangoon. Even as a non-crab person, I do enjoy popping one of these bad boys into my mouth after dipping it in the provided sauce. Nicky's uses a homemade pineapple sauce that adds just a slight tang on this small delight. Entrée - Bread wasn't the greatest creation of mankind. Actually, it was spice because that allowed Thai food to flourish. It has always been of my opinion that if you know how to use spices, then you can make any dish pop. We had the Pad Phet and Basil. Both dishes were absolutely flavorful and made each bite as enjoyable as the last. If you get a box, make sure to get two and a paper bag for reinforcement because if you have sauce left, you are going to want to pour that over your leftovers. Dessert - The sticky rice mango is definitely an interesting dish, but it had something in it that tasted like half and half and ruined any flavor that the mangoes held. The ice cream saved that sweet taste, but the sticky rice that lay below reminded me of a Rice Krispie treat that you found in a corner of your kitchen that was there for months and a friend dared you to take a bite. Disclaimer: You cannot eat the banana leaf...don't ask how we know. - Service: 4.25 / 5 When dining with someone who has a food allergy, you always worry about cross-contamination. Luckily, at Nicky's, even without disclosure, we had no issues at the end of the night. However, as the restaurant gets busy, the service definitely becomes slower, but if you have a great companion you honestly don't notice it. Nicky's also does a great job of not rushing you out the door as soon as the dessert has been finished and it seems each server helps the other servers if it becomes really busy, which isn't a bad system. It's worth noting there are standard charges including a pre-calculated tip, which is fairly common for restaurants of this style. - Vibe: 5 / 5 Nicky's is the exact reason why I started doing food reviews. By that, I mean I wanted to find interesting restaurants where you could sit down with other people, have a great conversation, enjoy some good food and just relax in the unique ambiance. - Overall: 4.25 / 5 My momma always said, "Thai food is a great indicator for a vibe check" and for my own personal add-on, "Great Thai food is how memories are made". If you are ever on the fence about certain people in your life, take them to Nicky's. By the end of the meal, you'll know where they stand. Recommend? Why is this even a question? Of course!

I noticed several people didn't have reservations, but those with reservations were seated first. My tip: if you don't have a reservation, get there right when they open. The restaurant itself is stunning--beautiful atmosphere, charming garden setting, and the perfect place for a special night out. Our server was fantastic, attentive, and recommended a wine that paired perfectly with our meal. The food was incredible from start to finish. The Khao Yum (17-ingredient mixed salad) was hands down my favorite and something I'll definitely order again. For our entrées, we had the pumpkin curry and beef tenderloin--both were flavorful, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. To finish, we shared the coconut milk ice cream with jackfruit and the mango sticky rice. The perfect ending to an amazing meal! Overall, the food, service, and ambiance exceeded our expectations. It's easy to see why it's so hard to get a reservation. Definitely worth the wait, and we'll absolutely be back. Highly recommend for a date night, celebration, or anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!

We had a horrible culinary experience the past couple of days driving through West Virginia, Ohio, and western New York. Pittsburgh was our last stop before heading home and Kiin Lao and Thai Eatery made up for all of the culinary disappointment this weekend. Let's talk about the ambiance first. Everything about this restaurant was quite beautiful. When I say beautiful, I don't mean it in an elegant way, but an artsy street vibe way. It is hip, clean, and we'll put together. You can tell a lot of love went into the decorations and into every piece of art on its walls. The service was pretty good. The server herself was attentive when needed and left us alone when needed. The food was AWESOME. We got the papaya combo with the Thum Mak Houng option, curry puffs, grilled pork shoulder with sticky rice, and Pad Gra Prow Street Style. The papaya was "lao-style" made with fermented shrimp paste. If you love deep umami flavors, this is it for you. The papaya salad was pungent and sour and savory spicy and just so satisfying. We asked for a 6/10 spiciness and they came with the heat. The chicken skewers that came with it was flavorful too. A little bit of char on the chicken would've brought it over the top. The curry puffs were so comforting and had that south Asian flavor profile that was very welcomed. The curry and spice blend did not overwhelm the potatoes. Instead it enhanced the earthy potato flavors in the best way possible. The menu said that it came with a cucumber sauce but I don't think we got that. What we got was a more like a honey sauce. The sauce was good in itself but didn't pair well with the puffs. The grilled pork shoulder was delectable. The meat was tender and it was seasoned perfectly. Again, more char on the meat would've brought it to a new level. The only gripe I have with this order was the sticky rice. The amount of sticky rice you get with it was so small I thought it was a joke initially. Nope, it was not! I thought the Pad Gra Prow Street Style was OKAY. I would've made it a little saucier. Despite this, my significant other absolutely LOVED it. Pad Gra Prow was my significant other's favorite dish when she lived overseas. She said that this was the best Pad Gra Prow she has had on this side of the world. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would definitely come by again when we are back this way.
