She ended up getting the Three Season Chicken and I got Chicken Pad Thai. Her chicken was well seasoned it you could still taste the protein (that's a good thing in my book). It wasn't overwhelmed by the sauce. Same with my Pad Thai. Although my chicken seemed a little dry. However it was still delicious The staff was very attentive and helpful. Cute little place. The server was amazing! She was running the entire dinning room on her own and kept a smile the whole time. The food here was excellent. I love a good red curry. I'd also recommend trying the scallion bites. We were sat quickly even though it was quite busy. The food came out quickly as well. It does not get very loud as it is a smaller place so it is a nice place for a quiet relaxing dinner. Street parking is a little tough on liberty avenue but it is worth stopping in. In addition, I accidentally left my card on the table. The waitress kindly wrapped it with my name on it for me to pick up the next day. I will eat here any day. read more

A friend and I were going to try another restaurant nearby that was loud and packed, so we decided to take a walk further down, and we are SO happy that we came to Thai Cuisine. A charming restaurant with friendly staff and comforting food. Our waitress, Lilli, was attentive, kind, and personable, to the point that everyone who came in she pretty much knew them by name or knew their order. She was just so lovely! The food came out quickly, and it was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. I like a thicker curry, but I didn't even mind because the flavor was so spot on. The crab Rangoons were more cream cheese forward, but the dipping sauce was perfectly sweet. The scallion pancake was CRISPY and slightly chewy on the inside. We got mango sticky rice to go as well which was the cherry on top. They are BYOB, so grab a bottle of wine and a friend and give this place a try! Great Thai spot! Its next to another awesome Thai spot, Thai Gourmet, so I imagine people struggle choosing between the two since they are both so good. I ordered a pretty classic meal, the pad see ew with fried tofu, and their Thai spring rolls. The pad see ew was very good. I heard the portions were small, but I didn't think so. They were pretty great, although prices were a little higher than at other places. Flavor wise, it was great. Not too oily at all, although I would have liked a tad bit more sauce. I loved how they cooked the broccoli (I personally don't like barely cooked broccoli in pad see ew, and they cooked it thoroughly here). Great amount of vegetables. The tofu really soaked up the sauce and was tasty as well, although there wasn't that much of it. The spring rolls were pretty decent too. Not the best I've had, and a bit expensive for just 2 pieces, but they do the job. They were somewhat oily and heavy on the glass noodles. Small container of sauce, but it was tasty. Thai Cuisine is one of the friendliest Thai restaurants I have ever been to. We ate here on a Wednesday right at 4 pm as they were opening for business. Seated quickly and given waters and menus. I was bummed to see they did not offer fresh summer rolls, since that is my go-to starter. I decided to order soup instead. I got Tom Yum Veggie, spice level 8. Served quickly I liked it. I felt it lacked some depth of flavor but wasn't bad for a starter to warm me up. The spice level wasn't too much but mixed with the heat of the broth it felt hotter than it was. For my meal I ordered Spicy Noodles (Drunken noodles) tofu spice 8. I didn't want to go too high since this was my first time. The noodle dish was pleasant. I really enjoyed the many veggies in the dish where a lot of other places lack adding them. The flavor of the noodles was a little bland and the spice level was milder to me. I added Thai Chili paste to spice it up some. To circle back to the friendly atmosphere our server was outstanding. Incredibly gregarious and genuinely accommodating. Our first experience of Thai Cuisine in Bloomfield was wonderful. Upon entering, we were greeted by the owner Lisa. She welcomed us with a warm smile. We brought our own bottle of wine since it is BYOB, and sat in a booth by a window overseeing Liberty Ave. Lili ,our waitress was every bit as friendly and enthusiastic. We began with spring rolls and a plum sauce for dipping. I had chicken Pad Thai with noodles and my husband ordered Viking shrimp with glass noodles. Both dishes were favorable, filling, and delicious. Several times during dinner, both Lisa and Lili made sure we were doing well, always with a smile. Came here for dinner for the first time with a friend. We ordered their steamed dumplings appetizer, I ordered their special of crispy roast duck, and their green tea cheesecake dessert. My friend ordered their penang chicken curry entree and black sticky rice with custard dessert. Total came out a little over $50. What's Hot - Quality. My duck entree was pretty good and had a nice spicy kick to it, as well. It came with broccoli, snow peas, bamboo, and carrots. The sauce was nicely seasoned and I could taste the garlic, which added to the flavor. The duck didn't taste gamey, which I appreciated. The sauce didn't overpower and drain my entree, which is good. My friend's curry dish was nicely seasoned and flavored. You could taste the coconut and there was a nice combination of veggies with the chicken. I also like that they offer brown rice in addition to white rice. - Spiciness. Their spiciness is legit. I ordered the level 6 spiciness for my roast duck and there was definitely a kick. Their spiciness is one that isn't overpowering and can creep up. I love spicy food and have a good tolerance. - Menu variety. They seem to have something for everyone- different meats, veggies, tofu, noodles, soups, different appetizers, etc... - Portions. Pretty decent portions, but not generous. If you come hungry, you won't get full off just an entree. - Service. Our waitress was super nice, helpful, and attentive. When she asked me what level of spice I wanted for my entree, I explained to her my tolerance. She also said their spice was just recently changed and is pretty strong. She said she thought I could handle a level 6, which I did and appreciated. She was attentive and regularly refilled our water glasses. We didn't wait long for the food, as well, which we both appreciated since my friend and I were hungry. Haha... - Layout. There's a nice combination of booths and tables. It's not a large restaurant, but there is space for small groups and a few larger groups. What's Not - Menu variety. Their steamed dumplings appetizer is tsui mai, which is a Chinese dim sum dish. It's not Thai food. Oh well... Something I've noticed in Pittsburgh is that a lot of Asian restaurants tend to fuse their cuisine with other Asian ethnic food, as well. Looks like Thai Cuisine does the same, which I don't like. - Quality. My friend's dessert of custard that came with the black sticky rice was essentially a different form of mango pudding, but something I've never come across before. It was a slight mango flavor, but not a strong mango flavor, which was odd. The tsui mai/steamed dumpling appetizer was good, but I've had better at proper Chinese and dim sum restaurants. Their dim sum tasted like a pre-frozen dish that they just steam and warm up. It didn't taste fresh/made in house. Their food isn't bad, but I've had better. - Parking. It's in Bloomfield, which is not easy to find parking. At least there are some bus stops in the area, which might be helpful. Most parking around the area is permit parking and/or paid parking. Because I came for dinner, I was fortunate to find free parking in a church parking lot, which is permit parking during regular business hours. Be aware of the limitations if you come during the day. - Price. My duck entree is $17, which is pricey. My friend's curry is $15, the appetizer was $6, and each dessert was around $6-$7/each. I love Thai Cuisine because everything about it is consistent! When you are hangry and place an order, you know it will be delicious every time. The spice levels are also consistent. I have probably placed hundreds of Thai Cuisine orders over the last 10. My favorite dish is their green curry with vegetables and steamed tofu. I add eggplant to the curry for an upcharge. The soft baby eggplants really make the dish. You can choose white or brown rice. Their veggies are fresh and they are cut so beautifully! Pad See Ew with veggies is my favorite of the noodle dishes. I get spicy #5 usually and it is pretty hot for me. The portion sizes are huge. Don't skip the crab rangoons either! They are sweet and savory and the sauce to dip them in is awesome too! This past time I got the stir fry eggplant with veggies and steam tofu. Obviously I love any eggplant dish from here! lol This dish feels fresh and healthy and I love it! It's cute to sit inside and you can take your own wine. I want to say the corkage fee is only $1? I usually take Rose or Chardonnay to pair with the spicy food. If you order takeout it is ready super quickly and they have a very efficient system. Thai Cuisine has got to be one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. Definitely comparable to the quality you'd expect at restaurants in major cities like NYC or Chicago. I come here if not weekly, every other week. My favorite is the Spicy fried rice. I've tried the chicken, shrimp and vegetable. Personally the Vegetable is my favorite. I always get my food with a spice level between 3-4. 3 has a nice kick to it, where you can still enjoy your food. I made the mistake once getting a 7 and couldn't really enjoy it because my nose was running. If you're one that likes that kind of spice I suggest getting a 7. The chicken Green Curry is also another go to item. Filled with plenty of vegetables, nice size pieces of chicken and the sauce is very good. The owner is the friendliest person I've ever met. So I've never had Thai before. My best friend, Jess dragged me here on a Thursday night, and I'm SO glad she did. As I knew nothing about Thai, she ordered a Thai Iced Tea for me, and it was creamy and delicious. Kinda like a Yoo-Hoo and iced tea, minus the chocolate. I ordered a second one, even though it was extra. I didn't care. We ordered the special appetizer, Soft Shell Crab. So worth the splurge. It was perfectly cleaned, unlike what I've had from Wholey's before. There were two sauces accompanying the crab, and both suited it's crispness perfectly. Jess made a few suggestions on what to get for the entree, (our waitress was in training, but still was awesome) and I decided on the Param, because I love peanut sauce! You could customize how hot you wanted your dish, but I was being a sissy that night, and decided to go with a 3. It was perfect. Jess got Yellow Curry Shrimp. I ate half of hers, too. Oops. Came back to my favorite restaurant for dinner after not being here for MONTHS (is that a sin?) and I was SO excited. We had to start off with the crab rangoons- of course. Thai Cuisine has them down to a T. They were perfect and the sauce was awesome. I wanted to try something different, so per our wonderful server's suggestion- my friend and I split the eggplant entrée with beef and the spicy basil noodles with chicken. We ordered both at a whopping 11 (1-10 heat scale). After talking with our server about Thai heat levels, he informed us that if we enjoy spicy food we should order above the "American 10". He told us that "Thai hot" is a 15. We took a chance with ordering it at 11 (I normally stick with the 5-6 range) and it was a good decision! The food was AWESOME and wasn't too spicy at all. The eggplant dish was amazing- the chili garlic sauce was OUT of this world and of course, they are always generous with the sauce- which I adore. The spicy basil noodles were amazing.. I have been dreaming about those noodles ever since. When it comes to Thai food, Thai Cuisine is where it's at. We sort of stumbled upon this restaurant because the restaurant we first went to closed all of a sudden for the day. It was the day before Thanksgiving. We were hungry and we found this place on Yelp. Walking in it wasn't too busy because they had just opened around 4 or 5pm. We were greeted and seated immediately. They gave us really good customer service. We thought they were really nice here. Even when other customers walked in to get seated or to pick up take out we notice how pleasant they were. We usually get the same things at Thai restaurants. Fresh Summer Rolls and I get the Pad Se Ew. They didn't have fresh summer rolls here at the time. They do sometimes but not all of the time. They just had fried spring rolls. We didn't want that so my wife ordered a soup and I just ordered my Pad Se Ew with Tofu. My wife's soup was really good she said. It was full of vegetables and a good taste. My Pad Se Ew came out shortly after. The taste and spice level was good. I liked it a lot. Tonight we ordered pad thai, pad see ew and the fresh thai cuisine rolls... The noodles were mostly tasteless and greasy. The spring rolls were filled with ice berg lettuce and they literally sliced the shrimp in half that they put inside. 35 dollars for 2 tastless noodle dishes and an app of iceberg lettuce is a bit much. Probably one of the most underrated Thai restaurants in Pittsburgh! We used to get takeout from here all the time when I lived in Shadyside! I visited last night again after a few years and everything we had was just as a good as I remember it from a few years ago! We started off with the Crab Rangoons, Pulled Pork Steamed Buns, and the Chicken Satay - everything was absolutely on point! The pork buns were scrumptious and juicy and enveloped in this pillowy steamed bun - this was a special so they may not have it all the time, but when they do, be sure to get it! The crab rangoons are notches above most other Thai restaurants we've been to, and the satay was well cooked, juicey, and not tough or dried out at all. The peanut sauce is lighter than most other places, but still packs a ton of flavor. For our entrees I went with the Spicy Egg Noodles with Chicken with a 5/10 on the spice level. The noodles were thin, similar to a chow fun style of noodle, but packed a ton of flavor. I appreciate that even their stir fried noodles are a tiny bit saucy so they don't "dry out," especially when you eat them the following day. 10/10 on flavor and being true to the spice level! Also, prices are most definitely fair for the amount and quality of food you're getting. Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming! I've been wanting to try both Thai Cuisine and Thai Gourmet since they're within a few blocks of one another. My verdict is that I prefer Thai Gourmet, food-wise anyway. However, there's no doubt that the overall atmosphere is much better at Thai Cuisine. Thai Cuisine feels cleaner and better decorated. In terms of the food, I ordered curry and it was okay. I thought it was very mild in comparison to Thai Gourmet. My husband ordered Hawaiian fried rice and also thought it was ok. It smelled smoky but lacked the taste to match it. One thing I really did enjoy was the fried chicken dumplings, but the downfall is you only get four (and they're tiny!). Thai Cuisine was about average to me. This is a review for delivery/take out only but: the Pad See-Ew is da bomb. (I had other awesome adjectives to describe it but Yelp would likely not approve). Thai food in general is such a go to take out - but that dish especially keeps well, esp as leftovers for the next day! Excellent flavor and they have a spice scale that fits all tastes. Twelve years later, I am so happy and impressed that this spot has continued to maintain such a high standard of quality and service. The tom kha veggie soup, fried rice, and noodle dishes taste exactly as I remember and the owner is so kind and welcoming. I've long since moved away to another state, but this spot is never far from my mind and always one of my first stops when I'm back in town. I never want this place to close. It is a spot that makes my mouth water and my belly rumble. I love to find reasons to go, like I need a better reason than, dang this is good food. I love that the decor has really transformed since the remodel years ago but the food has stayed the same. I honestly love it. It is hard to just pick one thing on the menu that I love because, honestly it is all so freaking good. This trip we came because I had a friend visiting from California and was craving Thai food. Of course this was the spot that we recommended. IT is so close to my house that I come more often than I should. Starters: Thai Spring Rolls (fried): Fried spring rolls stuffed with vegetables, glass noodles. Served with plum sauce. I mean their fried springs rolls are fantastic. I think that they were 2 in the order so if you are looking to feed a group it would be a good idea to pick more from the menu. Filling but I could eat the order of two myself, and I am not that big of a sharer. Thai Cuisine Rolls (fresh): Fresh rice paper stuffed with lettuce, basil leaves, and vermicelli noodles. Served with Thai Cuisine special house sauce. These were also good. We added tofu to the rolls. They also come with only two rolls but are a bit bulkier so they are more sustainable for an appetizer. We asked for these rolls to be cut in half to help us divide them up more evenly with the group. This worked out nicely for all of us. Fried tofu (personal favorite/fried): Crispy fried tofu. Served with a peanut sauce. Personal favorite. I love fried tofu and Thai Cuisine does a really good job. Not to crispy and not too much breading. Just the right amount of fried to make you want to come back for more but not worry about the calories. Main Dish: Panang Curry: Broccoli, bell peppers, and basil leaves in a coconut curry sauce. Heck yes. This is what I get all the time. I add extra veggies and chicken to mine to make it a more filling dish. I love the sauce and could drink it if that wasn't super weird or possibly give me a bad belly ache. The veggies are always crisp and tasty. I like that you also get a choice for brown or white rice. I usually like brown but sometimes will mix it up if I am feeling peckish. I would suggest a nice even spice level of 3. I do not like to not be able to enjoy what I am eating so a level 3 is just up my alley. I love it here. I think that more people should try it out. They are also BYOB so we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine for a glass fee that was really reasonable. They even brought us out a nice bucket of ice to chill the wine in. My only slight complaint is that that Pad Thai changes depending on who's cooking that day, so it varies. In general, it's a really nice little restaurant. For a time in Pittsburgh, I lived within walking distance of Thai Cuisine and frequented this spot on the regular. It was never usually crowded upon my visits, but after walking by multiple times after moving from Bloomfield, it looked like they had a steady stream of customers each time when I passed. One of my favorite things about many restaurants in Pittsburgh is the BYOB-so economical and allows you to bring a wine that you already know you will enjoy in addition to having paid about 1/3 or more less than what one would pay at a restaurant. The decor is modest but service has always been warm and efficient. I definitely enjoyed the booths which I find less and less at ethnic restaurants. What you are really here, though, is for the food. I've tried a variety of options here over time: the thai spring rolls (crunchy, sufficient veggie filling), the mixed vegetables with chicken, the spicy basil with chicken (spicy but not overwhelming for my palate), the pad thai with chicken (saucy, noddles cooked perfectly, generous portion of chicken), and the spicy basil noodles with chicken (at a 7 this was perfect for me and provided some heat without overdoing it-very flavorful). I get Tom Yum everywhere I go and this was on the bland side as well as the veges being totally raw and not brought to temp w the broth. The sauces for the apps were nothing more than unflavored syrup. I got a special, the crispy trout, which was prepared well and actually had some strong flavors but was served on a bed of chopped iceberg salad mix you get at the store.
