I had an early dinner here tonight and they did not disappoint. I am a "Dumpling Nut" so I had to try their dumpling appetizer. I tried them fried, but that turned out to be deep fried with a crispy exterior. They were good, as was the dipping sauce, but I think I would have preferred the steamed option as the filling was very good. I also tried a link of boudin, which was very good! For dinner I tried their fried oysters... Finally, someone around here that knows how to fry oysters! They were very good with a simple corn meal breading fried perfectly. I was on the way to a meeting so I did not partake, but they had a nice selection of beers for those that did. I was stunned immediately upon walking in to find people sitting at the bar smoking. We had to walk through the smoke to get to the dining room, but of course could still smell it. I had the fried shrimp with dirty rice, which was very good, but we will never stop there again. I had to leave quickly with a serious headache, and now we are driving all the way back to Huntsville in clothes that smell of cigarette smoke. That is the first restaurant we have gone into, in MANY Years, that has allowed smoking. We even left to drive down the road to go to the bathroom. A friend of ours who used to work for the restaurant had recommended this place for ages and we finally got out there from Austin to give the food a shot. I am so glad we did! We ordered the Cajun Boil Pot that included snow crab, shrimp, crawfish, corn, and potatoes. We also got a side of garlic butter and a couple of Miller Lites. OMG, the flavor and heat on the boil were out of this world! It was so delicious I was sad to throw the last shell in the bucket. And you NEED the garlic butter. Trust. The restaurant itself is clean, simple, and laid-back, which I love. There's a big TV for sports, plenty of cold beer, and a friendly owner and staff who clearly take pride in their game, which they have down. 5/23/14 My first visit I gave them 4 or 5 stars. This visit was a two or three. Let me start with the good! Great employees! Great with kids. Wait, AMAZING with kids. There's even a little corner for them to play in! Easel, crayons, chalk! Nice! Definitely don't have to worry about getting them to sit and be still at the table! Now for the not so good/not so bad. The service was just as S L O W as the first time and there were way less people here. We called ahead bc we were a party of 8, well 7 and a toddler and it was a busy weekend. We get there and they have a table ready even though they said we didn't need a reservation. Fantastic! Only 4 people at one other table! Awesome! We should get great service! Our drinks came out in a decent amount of time. Off to a great start. Waiting, waiting waiting. Ok here are our appys but only half came out at a time. Boudin and seafood balls were very good but the cheese sticks were just eeh. Two of us got the salad bar. Nice salad greens! Some tomato slices. No other veggies. About two or three dressings ranch, Italian and ? Waiting waiting waiting! Wait some more! Oh here's our crawfish. Guess they are bringing the other stuff next. Waiting, waiting, waiting. About 4-5 minutes more we get the burger and the toddler's grilled cheese! Whew she was getting restless. She isn't hungry bc the cook? kept bringing her crackers! Another really great lady! They have awesome people here so we don't complain! Waiting..... A few minutes later we get the Chicken tenders and the CFS. Tenders look normal but the CFS didn't look like steak and was very small. The burger looked amazing and he said it was but the fries are the cheap, from a bag crinkle cut kind like they serve at hospitals and schools. :( I really think there is just one cook who cooks what they can in one batch. Example... I'm cooking crawfish. Done. Serve. Now I'm frying the burger and grilled cheese. Done! Serve. Now the CFS and chicken strips. Done. Serve. Really disappointing. Now we all have our food! Begin meal. Our crawfish are no longer hot but we left them covered so they are kind of room temp. We are starving so we eat anyway. They were tasty and juicy but one of us had at least 20 crawfish that were nasty dead, black and broken in his 4 lb order. There were none in mine and only a few in my daughters. We eat crawfish every year, year after year and that seldom ever happens. The size difference was so big that some were very over cooked or maybe they kept cooking bc they sat covered for so long while we waited for the rest. Juicy, tasty but they NEED SPICE! At least offer some spice to shake on yourself. A can of Tony's or something. There was a bottle of hot sauce and a bottle of sriracha (used that) on the table but it just seemed like they were not cooked with any spice at all. Some dry spices sprinkled on the crawfish to make my mouth and tongue tingle a little would be great! The people at the table next to us had the Asian potstickers/dumplings whatever. They looked and smelled amazing and they were oohing and ahhing between gulps. If I come back I may try those or the étouffée! This place screams "I can be better!" There is so much promise here. Maybe hire another person? Two really great employees here already. It's just painful to see how close to awesome this place is but misses the mark by a few bad dishes and really slow service! Those things can be fixed and you have an amazing place! I really hope the owner sees this! Bottom line, if you're in the area and open to something different try the items the place is named for, ASIAN or CAJUN! Service was a little harried but they were short staffed. Food didn't come out together. Actually about 5 minutes apart. So don't wait for your friends and family to be served. This happened at all the tables around us. They MUST be popular bc it was early Saturday eve and they were out of several items and ran out of even more. During a Saturday mtg in Washington-on-the-Brazos I began looking for a place for some of us (12-14) to grab lunch on a dreary December weekend. Used an app and this place came up...it was close (and I DIDN'T want DQ or a sub!) so after reading the reviews, sharing them with others present and calling to see if they were a) open, b) busy and c) double check the address, we bundled into the cars and careened down Hwy 105... It was terribly close to our venue and we almost shot past it! Yes! It's 'interesting' from the exterior. Yes! It's off the beaten path. Yes! The food was slow in arriving after we'd already received our beverages and YES the meals trickled to the table (but there's only ONE guy cooking back there!!!) but the food...ahhhhhh!!!! The steamed dumplings were delightfully seasoned and piping hot, the burgers cooked to perfection, the Cajun potatoes out of this world, the boiled shrimp sinfully piquant, the rib meat was dripping off the bone in big, moist chunks and the onion rings and jalapeño poppers were perfectly proportioned! The gentleman out front who was also out waiter was very attentive to refills, etc., and I can't WAIT to go back and partake of those generously portioned particulars again!!! YUM!!! read more

This place has food much better than expected from the outside. We have been going here for about two years. They just started steak night on Thursdays. What a bargain!! Since we asked about 4 weeks ago, they have started having a baked potato available on steak night only. It's only open Thursday thru Sunday but is great and we always get good food and service. we had a very mixed experience with this place. The food couldn't be better, but the service was some of the worst, possibly the very worst, I've ever had. Let me get the bad out of the way first, sine the bad service came before...long before the great food. The waitress (some woman with cool, funky red hair and flip flops) wasn't rude, but was definitely cold and not friendly. Everything took forever. It wasn't busy, but it took a very very long time to take our orders and we never got checked on during the meal. The worst part was the three unattended small children that were running wild, completely unattended throughout the meal. I got the impression they belonged to the waitress's as we were the only customers. One of them, an admittedly adorably little boy was literally running circles around our table yelling with mom/dad nowhere to be seen. Dora the Explorer was blaring on the TV just above us the whole time. All total, we were stuck in there for an hour and forty five minutes before we finished our meal. We eat fast, so it was at least an hour and twenty minutes before we got our food. Maybe it would have been faster, but we made the mistake of ordering appetizers when we sat down and she didn't even take our main order until after she brought those out. Now for the good part! The food was fantastic. We had ribs and gumbo. The ribs were the most tender I've ever had. The gumbo was great too and both came in generous proportions. excellent excellent excellent I spoke to one of the cooks briefly and she was very nice and helpful. In short, it's the best food I've ever had at a daycare...That's really not fair. There's at least someone around to monitor the kids in a daycare and keep them somewhat under control, so this was no daycare. Keep the staff's kids at home and improve the service and this place is five stars all day long. read more

Came to have crawfish , there was one server who came to our table 4 times just to tell us she would be back after 30 minutes of waiting we finally get two of our drinks and 10 May bites later the rest comes , finally got to order and the crawfish were the smallest I've ever seen ! Not to mention when it was time to pay its 6.50 JUST for the corn , sausage , and potatoes which we didn't get corn because they were out ! Our bill was 183$ for 18lb of crawfish and the sides I have NEVER. In my life been charged that much for crawfish and the sides are all separate !
