They offer surf and turf options. The red snapper was pretty good. The burger was well made and tested good too. Highly recommend chicken wings. They were crunchy and juicy. We didn't try alcoholic beverages but they do offer full selection of different drinks. Pricing: $$ - definitely worth the visit. Father's Day- dinner experience. There were several tables with what appeared to be 3-4 servers, with 1 doubling as bar tender (personality-rarely smiled and could have communicated better with those at the bar), and a guy that sat us and gave us menus (which were for the morning) who later told me he was a busboy who they had him running as hostess tonight. We sat for several minutes before flagging him down for different menus, and then waited another several minutes before flagging down another person to see who was going to be our server-as we still didn't even have water. She wasn't sure if it was going to be her (Teresae) or someone else... so we went ahead and ordered an appetizer and drink since she was there. About 4 minutes passed when the other person showed up to see if we needed a server. It took several minutes to get his drink which came after the appetizer- artichoke dip with baguettes which were decent. From the time we placed our main order- sandwich and snapper, it took about 26 minutes. The waitress never came back to check on us during that time, and we had to flag down the guy that sat us to get a water refill. The food was decent, but something had an aftertaste (maybe the onion rings fried in tallow?), & the snapper was a little salty. The waitress never followed up to see how the food was or ask if we needed anything else. We finally had to get her attention to get a to go container and our check. Having been a waitress for several years, here's my suggestions: A GM needs to be on the premise, communicate to servers after a table is seated so they know it's their turn, staff needs training on customer protocol/service, staff needs to quit touching their hair, wiping their face/nose (especially the guy as I thought he was going to have a heart attack as much as he sweat) and then serving food/drinks/setting the table (wash your hands!), & if kitchen staff is unhappy about something, don't do it to where people can see them... There were a few other tables that waited just as long as us to get service, and sometimes the two girls switched customers after starting with them. Not impressed- no GM/Mgr. on the premise, service was severely lacking, and food was average. This place won't be on my list to come back again any time soon... and then to see the banners in the photo... I had to laugh. read more

Red Board is BACK!!! When it originally opened, Red Board was our favorite local restaurant. Then Chef Craig headed to greener pastures and the food quality suffered. And after two date night dinners with crappy food, we quit going there. I am SO very happy to say, RED BOARD IS BACK! It was Lee's turn to choose the location for tonight's date night dinner, and I was a bit dismayed when he said we had reservations at Red Board. He assured me that there is a new chef, so I was grudgingly willing to give it a try. I had the red snapper with mango salsa, garlic mashed potatoes and jalapeño creamed corn. The mango salsa had a bit of a kick. The jalapeño creamed corn was luscious and had an even stronger kick! What's not to love? Lee had the chicken fried steak, jalapeño creamed corn and onion rings. He liked the steak, and commented that he was happy the corn wasn't swimming in cream. I stole some of his onion rings, and they are dynamite. Super crispy and oniony. I'm so happy we went there tonight. We will be back frequently if Chef Chris' food stays as good as it was tonight. Service there has always been great; that was never an issue. Kylie's service tonight was impeccable. And the food was every bit as yummy as anyone could hope. Thank you Chef Chris. You are AWESOME! And don't you even THINK about leaving Navasota! read more

We waited over an hour for food, despite the restaurant being fully staffed and only a few tables of patrons. Once the food finally arrived, the salads and wraps were drenched in dressing, the steak was over cooked, and there were gnats in our Brussels sprouts. We were so disappointed to have such a negative experience after hearing such wonderful things and the restaurant atmosphere is so lovely. Amazing meal! Started with the deviled egg trio appetizer-don't skip it! I ordered the "Texas Ruben" with steak fries, probably one of the best Ruben's I have ever had. Wife ordered the "Avocado Toast", equally delicious. Large portions. Service was on point. Great vibe with some exposed brick/stucco. Rejuvenated 100+ year old building. A fantastic weather Sunday evening and the wife and I in search of a top down, north bound, "destination" drive place, to grab dinner. Small town Navasota seemingly fit the bill, except perhaps on Sunday wherein most places are closed or closed early (5p). This place open until 8p, was mostly chosen by default, though the reviews for the most part, seemingly read well. Very neat, clean, nicely appointed little spot with a up-town vibe. I can't speak to the bar/drinks as we were there for a meal (iced tea/water). Seated quickly, staff was cordial, service a bit slow. When they brought Hawaiian King rolls out in a basket I thought we might be in a bit of trouble food quality wise. I mean really? Previously frozen, store bought-King rolls?? Dinner was about the same. I had fried chicken on cheese ravioli smothered in marinara sauce, wife tried the chicken fried steak with mac & cheese and asparagus as her sides. I'd bet a good sum of money that everything we had sans the asparagus, was delivered institutionally frozen, heated and served. Maybe our two menu choices were poor. Editable, but in my estimation, certainly not chef prepared restaurant quality food. Don't let the white table cloths fool you. It may very well be a great bar, but it is not as a restaurant. read more

Very disappointed. I posted a glowing review a few years back, calling RBT&T a "big city restaurant in a small town". We went there last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. I had read a review saying "they're back." They're not. The service by Jill was great until she turned into a bartender, abandoning us. The ribeye was supposed to be 14 ounces. It might have been 10, about one quarter inch thick. My wife ordered hers medium. I ordered mine rare. When they arrived, we couldn't tell them apart. Both were gray on the outside and pinkish gray in the middle. My onion rings were not as good as the one's I get at the local fast food places. The mashed potatoes were nothing special. I know that beef has gotten expensive but $58 each is outlandish to say the least for less than mediocre steak. On the positive side, the John Daly was delicious and Jill was an excellent server, while she was serving. read more

My husband and I were looking for a nice meal and found this charming tavern on the square! We went at dinner so they had their limited dinner menu. We ordered drinks that were EXCELLENT! The bartender was exquisite and made both drinks to preference! Salads were amazing! Hubby enjoyed the wedge and I had the Janice! Both were fresh and delicious. The bacon was perfect! We shared a ribeye, my husband's favorite cut of steak. He ordered it medium well and it was medium to medium well so we didn't complain. However...it was hardened on the edges and tough. The flavor was delicious and the butter was perfect! The grits were smooth and creamy and had a great flavor and texture! The corn was fresh but the flavor wasn't great! Dessert was super!! Very quiet brunch Sunday morning. The menus aren't huge, but a nice selection of items. Coffee is wonderful and there is an extensive brunch cocktail list. Nice setting with the tables set properly (two forks, knife, spoon, water glass and cloth napkin) like grandma's house every weekend. Eggs Benedict and Good Morning John were the order of the day with hash browns. Both were delightful. There is a full bar for evening cocktails and the piano player is there on Friday and Saturday nights. Haven't been there for that yet, but I'll keep y'all posted. read more

As a former chef in spots like NYC, Aspen and the Hamptons I wasn't expecting to find this caliber of restaurant in this tiny town or for it to be so amazing! Seabass is genuinely perfection from the crisp top crust to the pairing of clams and gnocchi! Grits are top notch, well balanced and a nice coarse and creamy grit. Corn. Whoa. We ordered two. I'm still drooling over it! My husband had the steak and he was thrilled! With foie gras butter on top it really stood out as top 5 steaks ever to him. Deviled eggs: eggs were perfectly cooked and topped off with most delightful flavors. Tuna: Ahi tuna with the purple rice and pickled veg was great, not super excellent (if I am being a super picky food snob) but like 9/10 Kids: small but amazing kids menu. Our son had a superior grilled cheese with fruit, berries at that!! And even he ate some of the street corn! He's 1. Very charming establishment, with a very nice retro feel, without the "ironic" feel you get a some establishments. The food menu is the star. They offer a few classic southern staples, but with a "lil flair" of their own. I had the Sloppy Joe (made from fresh ground steak, in house), while my friends had the burger and the chicken fried steak. We shared the shishitos and chicharrones as an app. Everything we ate was good. Stand out good. Fresh ingredients and flavor-plus recipes are the standard here. Go hungry, and expect to be impressed. On our visit, the chef greeted us and chatted with us, but absolutely blew me away with his hospitality and kindness. Unfortunately I forgot his name (i took too long since my visit to write this) , but i will return to Navasota from Houston to find out. A MUST VISIT when in the area. This newly refurbished area will be a hit if it's not already, in no small part to what this place brings to the overall feel of the area. Kudos, job well done!! Cant wait to go back. read more

We met our Aggie grandson and his new wife last night at Red Board, as we frequently meet them in Navasota for dinner. We had never visited Red Board because it's kind of expensive, but we figured it would be fun for a celebration of their new marriage. If's a very comfortable place, nicely decorated. We made reservations and were seated immediately. We were able to converse and have fun even though there was quiet piano music, which was really nice. We started at the bar because the two of us were a little early. We a drink at the bar. Once we were seated, we had the stuffed quail and also deviled eggs for starters, both good. The quail was outstanding and very different. Then we had a couple of New York steaks, the chicken fried lobster tail and one diner only had a salad. The steaks were wonderful. The chicken fried lobster tail is very different, but I don't think I would order it again. I loved the orange flavored sauce that came on the side. The waitress told me how delightful and delicious the stuffed tater tots were with it (they are on the menu together with the lobster tail.) Turns out they were out of tater tots so I ordered the grits. I was not pleased with the grits and neither was my grandson with his. There was some kind of meat in them that was gray and we couldn't identify and we didn't like the taste. I thought the wine pours were kind of light, but maybe not. We had two creme brulees for dessert and they were great. Altogether, a very successful and happy evening! read more

Family of four we were impressed with everything until the food came out. The Sweet tea was not drinkable. The pre-made burger patty was unflavored, but it was edible. The pulled pork was edible, but the coleslaw was horrible. The Devil made the Drums. They were so hard, the crust was charred and hard. We are very happy to support a restaurant nearby serving high quality food, service and fine dining menu. We have had their take on shrimp cocktail which was smoked and chilled. Surprisingly Delish. Also tried the Deviled eggs and quail poppers - really good. Their mushroom soup and shrimp bisque were spot on. The steaks were cooked to perfection. I had the New York strip "Pittsburgh'ed" medium rare. For dessert we have tried the tiramisu and crème brûlée - each were excellent. Highly recommend! read more

We stopped here for lunch after some mid-morning shopping, and our table of seven was seated right away. The railroad theme was really neat, and the details captured our attention! Our waitress was quick and started us off with waters. We also ordered the Brie cheese appetizer, which turned out to be quite small! Just one cracker and a slice of cheese per person. Lunch arrived quickly, and our table ordered a variety of dishes, including mac and cheese for the kids, tater tots, a grilled chicken chipotle burger, a fried jalapeño burger (which was initially forgotten but brought out later), a wedge salad, and pork lettuce wraps. While we didn't have any major complaints, both the burger and sandwich were lacking in flavor. They could have used more seasonings and spices. Additionally, the salad was essentially a side salad, served on a dessert plate and in a very small portion. Nice place overall. Would try again! read more

First, we dropped in for lunch with a group of 30, and they did a FABULOUS job handling us, getting our food out quickly, and bringing us our checks. Truly top-notch. Everyone loved the food. We ordered all sorts of things, but I had the Brisket Reuben with Jalapeño sauerkraut. It was a flavorful fusion of German and Texan cuisine, and my side of chili-seasoned tots was a great pairing. Got to finally try Red Board Tavern and Table tonight for a date night-- overall had a nice experience! The ambiance is more formal but still comfortable- people still dress very casually despite the food prices. They have live music which is nice! We started off with the crab tart- flavor was good- The texture was kind of like a mix between a crab cake and crab bisque- more creamy than a crab cake. Then we split the ribeye with the creamed spinach along with the lamb shank. Cook on the steak was pretty good- slightly over from medium rare- however the flavor was very good! The lamb was tender but tasted more like beef- not the usual lamb flavor- tensor though! The succotash was good- a little too salty for our taste but I liked the combination of the veggies and also enjoyed the polenta. We really scarfed down the blackberry cobbler which is how we ended our meal. Our waitress was super friendly! Great service and overall a really nice date night! read more

The atmosphere was so pretty and unique, and the Ciaopinno was delicious (a fancy seafood soup, full of different fresh seafood and flavorful broth). The glass of pino noir was also great. I REALLY wanted to love this restaurant. I've been wanting to try it since they opened up in our little downtown Navasota.... Today, I finally got my chance to try it and, boy, was I disappointed. My family of 4 arrived at about 1pm on this beautiful Sunday. The place was packed. After a few minutes, the hostess found us a table near the kitchen. Our waiter saw us after about 5 minutes and came to take our drink order. Along with drinks, we also ordered the deviled egg appetizer. When the eggs arrived, we commenced to trying them, and, well, our palettes did not appreciate them. Others may really enjoy them; we did not. Our lunch orders should've arrived shortly after the eggs, but they weren't. So we waited, and waited, and almost got fed up enough to throw money on the table and leave. The waiter never showed back up after dropping off our appetizer, as I think he was pulling double duty as the bartender - to whom, I'm not sure, because the restaurant was all but cleared out at this point. My kids were now hangry, I was thirsty, and my husband was past the point of perturbed, as he'd been staring at our lunch entrées in the kitchen window for more than 10 minutes. He finally called over another employee and asked her why our food had been sitting in the window so long, instead of being delivered to us. She gave him a line about the warming lights, then grabbed the food and finally delivered it to us. I don't really want to review the food, as I feel like it would've been much better had we received it straight from the oven, grill, etc. I do know that the meat in my sandwich had a chewy consistency by the time it arrived and the bread roll it was served on was soggy after soaking up the meats juices while waiting under the warming lights. My husbands chicken fried steak was super chewy, which I don't think was from sitting in the window, but the cornbread it was served with was delicious. My son seemed to love his pulled pork grilled cheese and my daughters chicken tenders were cooked perfectly. Overall, I just really felt like it was a chore to be served in this restaurant. Maybe we arrived too close to closing time for the waitstaff to really show some care in they're service. I thought an hour was more than enough time though. Or maybe we just caught the restaurant on a bad day... I'll probably end up trying Red Board again. It is right up the road, after all. Hoping our experience today was a fluke and that we'll have a wonderful experience next time... read more

Nice atmosphere. That was all. Prices are extravagant and food was mediocre. My friend's salad was exceptionally small and lacked any of the protein that was advertised on the menu. This was raised to the manager who did offer something else. However, we were told that the protein was finely chopped and that we would still be responsible for a half-charge for the salad. A bite was missing, which was enough to know there was no protein in the tiny overly priced salad. The manager eventually agreed to not charge for the first salad after a long discussion. We ordered something else which was 'ok'. One final note. It was VERY difficult to carry a conversation with the trains constantly passing the restaurant. read more

Not sure what happened tonight, we arrived for a 7pm reservation and they sat us after setting up our table. We ordered drinks and an appetizer to start. The drinks took 20 mins, meanwhile other groups were sat at nearby tables and we watched their appetizers and start to arrive. We had to ask about the deviled eggs appetizer which had not yet arrived even though other tables who sat after us received theirs. When we placed out entree orders they were out of multiple items including the Ruben sandwich and the chicken fried steak. The salad and soup ordered by 2 members of our group were received and then we waited and waited. Our waitress told us 10 more minutes and brought us bread, this was around 8:30 pm. At some point the waitress came back because one of the sides had run out so we selected another and then waited... At 9 pm we stood up and paid for what we ate and left. The food we had was good, but waiting over 2 hours for food was unacceptable. The service of the staff was very friendly and we could tell they were very flustered by whatever was going on this evening, but unfortunately it spoiled our Mother's Day. read more
