We ordered a to-go order in person. Very quick service! We did not have to wait too long. Chinese takeout can be dodgy at times but we were pleasantly surprised. We tried the sweet and sour chicken, shrimp lo mein, and honey walnut shrimp. The honey walnut shrimp were large shrimp and yummy. The food lasted us a couple days. We came here this past weekend with my family. I was skeptical because of the low Yelp review. When we walked in, it wasn't very busy for a weekend lunch. Our waiter was friendly and answered questions that my aunt and uncle had about the food. This restaurant serves typical Chinese food with some Thai dishes as well. The dishes we ordered were all delicious and fresh. I wish I took pictures because the presentation was very nice. Most of our dishes had hand cut flowers made out of radishes/veggies. My son loved the general tso's chicken and the sizzling beef dish. My mom said the eggplant dish was one of the best eggplant dishes that she had ever had. Picked up our to go order yesterday. The order was mostly accurate, did have an extra set of Spring rolls we didn't order. The COVID measures being taken seemed to be good. Ordered using Grubhub as wife was feeling like Sushi night. Had the spicy tuna rolls, spicy salmon rolls, eel nigiri and fish eggs nigiri and some sea weed salad with two orders of the Miso soup. The total came to around $40 but since I had a grub hub certificate as a gift, gave it a try. This was the closest Sushi restaurant I found that was open close to home. The quality of the sushi/nigiri was just OK, it was as generic as what I could've picked up at the grocery store TBH for much cheaper. But, wanted to check this place out. I found a cigarette butt and chewed on it (and then vomited) in my dish. They offered to refund me for the one dish. Yikes. When I told them I didn't feel comfortable feeding my family the rest of the food and would like a full refund, the lady said she couldn't do that and she'd have the manager call me. Every time I've I hit the Asian Garden for take out, it was for Chinese food - all three times I've gotten the Kung Pao Chicken - extra spicy, Hot and Sour Soup, and twice - the fried egg rolls. Excellento! The time I ate at the restaurant, even though the web site does not mention it - they also have some Thai items on the menu. I had a spicy Thai chicken basil dish and a bowl of Miso soup, and a side of Edamame. Everything was excellent! I have been eating here for years and I always get the same thing, lo mein. I have a severe nut allergy and everytime I order I make sure that they are aware of it. There are only a few things on the menu that contain nuts. however, I ordered my typical lo mein last night and ate it and only to find out there was HIDDEN cashews at the BOTTOM of the container, which led to a hospital visit. There are not suppose to be nuts in lo mein and there has never been nuts in the years I've been eating this. This was almost a fatal mistake. He asked me for the food back for a full refund! So I brought what I had, and this same woman yelling at me in the restaurant about how no one has ever told them everything was nasty- well it was! Not only was the food nasty- their attitude matched the food. People, let us stop using our hard-earned money on restaurants and services where they do not stand by their quality! It's too many times that I have some kind of issue with restaurants and/or services when asking for a refund there is major issue-reluctance, excuse, attitude, ultimately leads to their nasty behavior where they slam doors and yells! I go here frequently because I live fairly close. I actually went here today! The food is delish, but don't look for authentic Chinese food here. It's Americanized. The wait staff are excellent, sweet, and very patient. The only problem I've had with them is that we ordered Chicken and Broccoli and we got Shrimp and Broccoli and sent it back. No big deal. Other than that, they don't slip up at all. I've gotten take out before and it's well-packed and ready in TEN MINUTES. Can you say fast? Haven't tried the sushi here, so sorry I can't write about that. Some reviewers say the Bristow one is better, but it's not (see my review on there). This Asian Garden is the way to go! Don't get the sesame chicken here though. Asian Garden aims to be your local upscale Chinese joint. The food is decent. My father and I came here for lunch, and we got here before they were supposed to open, but they seated us nonetheless. I ordered some hot tea, which came out very warm, but not hot, oh well, it was hot outside anyway. To start, I ordered the hot and sour soup. It was very thick, but well flavored. My dad had the egg drop soup, which was thinner, but with the lingering taste of hot and sour, didn't taste like much. We ordered the Peking duck and it came out after 25-30 minutes, as Peking duck takes, and it was cooked just past juicy, which is fine. It was sprinkled with some deliciously crispy duck skin, and with a side of sweet bean sauce, scallions and perfectly made pancakes. The service was fairly slow, but I think there were probably two waitresses working, and only a few tables, so that was a bit surprising. In the last month, I picked up food from this location twice. The first time I ordered chicken corn soup, Kung pao shrimp and veggie rolls. There was hardly any corn in the soup. I counted 6 pieces altogether at the bottom of the bowl. The shrimp dish was too "soupy." The second time I ordered the soup again thinking it would be better. I was wrong. We've been ordering 'Delivery' from Asia Garden since COVID began & by now must be in the 20 to 25 orders all around the $50/$60 range and every time they have been Five Star Quality. My wife & I rate them one of the best ever and because of COVID we alway add a minimum tip of 15% and then tip another $5 to the driver. So we don't want to put anybody off ordering but our Order this evening was wrong as we ordered Ribs, House Special Fried Rice, Heavenly Chicken & Sesame Shrimp. All arrived but instead of Sesame Shrimp we received Sesame Chicken ?? ending up with two Chicken dishes But then every single dish was without doubt a " reheat" dry over cooked with really thick sauces . Yuk !! One of the worst orders ever. Most disappointing & after a few tastes we dumped a $60 order into the trash We have huge respect for Asia Garden in Haymarket but if it ever happens again, there will be no review. . . This restaurant used to be excellent, but they've declined in the past year. Portions are reduced, prices are up, which I understand given the challenges of the past year. However, the quality has become more variable and the manager is downright rude. We routinely asked them to give us the old fashioned paper containers instead of the black plastic, and they did for months, even saying they were cheaper, but then the manager railed on me for asking for them (even though no one had ever indicated it was a problem), and insulted me for reminding them to actually put chicken in the moo shu chicken (after a couple of times of basically 11.00 worth of cabbage. ). I have ordered from here numerous times but always picked up. Never had an issue with food quality but this evening I had the absolute worst service from the delivery driver. My address is very weird and sometimes people find it hard to find my home because of it. He called and said he couldn't find it and I tried to give him directions over the phone. He was two streets past my house but was confused because his gps took him the wrong way. The entire time we were talking he kept saying what the hell over and over again to me. After our second phone call he said what the hell are you doing? He was extremely rude and unprofessional and I hope he doesn't stay as a delivery driver. To start, the interior is dated and the booths are damaged and usually not very clean. The servers are friendly and prompt but once you get your food they disappear, there's no refills or checking up. The food itself is pretty low quality. Chicken and broccoli was ordered and the chicken texture was freezer burnt and rubbery, very hard and not at all velveted or tenderized. The broccoli was overcooked and like literally every. single. thing. on the menu the sauce is this deep red, vinegary, overly sweet, ketchupy mess. It's sticky and unappetizing and overwhelmingly sour. I've tried a few menu items like General Tso's, Hunan Chicken, Szechuan Beef and Crispy Beef and amazingly, it's all that one same awful sauce. This is definitely the last chance we will give this restaurant. We have ordered from them probably more than 100 times over the years. The quality of the food has gone down tremendously the last two years. But the biggest issue is how rude they are to customers for take out. If you dare mention that you are using one of the coupons (that THEY regularly send out) you will be lectured incessantly. You will be told you have to order double of certain items and you will be told at least 10 times that you have to bring the coupon with you - in a very condescending manner. If they don't want people using their coupons then they shouldn't send them out. Clearly they are desperate for business because of the very very poor quality, over cooked, over sauced, microwave food they sell.
