Ordered delivery. Food arrived Luke warm; to be expected with delivery. Food was bland. No distinguishing flavors between the different meals (General Tso's chicken, chicken Lo mein or chicken fried rice). It was not bad , it just wasn't great. Make sure you have soy sauce- you will need it. On the plus side: Egg rolls were a classic! Took me back to my childhood days with crispy egg rolls filled with cabbage and ground beef.

Picked up order Honestly I've done better with TV dinners Hot and sour soup: probably from a can by the taste and consistency and they just added unprepared tofu served with not home made crispy noodles Egg roll: again from a freezer and not even fried up right General tso chicken with fried rice: was a compliment to the tv dinner people I really wanted this place to not suck

My first visit will be my last... I ordered off of their website... the lady told me when I arrived that the website is wrong as far as prices go... the prices are now very high for the quality of food. My total was 50 dollars. I paid for a pu pu platter (12.75) and a 6piece crab Rangoon (5.45) The crab rangoons tasted like they had been sitting and were double fried. They was no filling in them hardly. The pu pu platter- only thing I have to say that was good was the teriyaki beef sticks. My shrimp tempura was not cooked all the way through, Still batter. I ordered as well, the orange chicken and general tso chicken and it had a weird taste to it. Nothing was flavored. And my husband got "fried rice" with his orange chicken and it was bland. Nothing in it. Honestly looks like it has just soy sauce in it for color.

The food was terrible I ordered shrimp egg foo young I did not see any vegetables any onions the egg foo young was very fluffy which I like but it appears as though they're using something like cornstarch worse egg foo young I've had in my life

DISCLAIMER: Yes Kevin, this place serves "Americanized Chinese," NOT true Chinese cuisine! :-) I got an order of food from here to go last week - an order of Hot and Sour Soup (with crunchy noodles), Spring Rolls (with a side of House Chinese Mustard), and Kung Pao Chicken (extra spicy). I placed my order from the car on my way home so that I could pick it up and head right home. It was about 7-8 or minutes after I ordered the food that I arrived - they guesstimated about 10 minutes while on the phone. I went to pay my bill with a credit card - and the guy charged me $31 for something that was only about $11! I pointed this out, he seemed confused, so a lady behind the counter took charge and refunded the transaction back to my credit card. Then another guy started to hand me a bag of someone else's food. Once again, the lady caught the error. I sure hope this is not the norm service-wise for this place. I will say that when I got the food home - it was pretty good. Soup was tasty, the Spring rolls were yummy - the Chinese mustard was potent! I was choking and experiencing that deep nasal headrush, a sure sign of some powerful mustard! Just the way I like it! And the Kung Pao was pretty good as well.

Shrimp chow fun $10.50. Good but very greasy. Lots of oil underneath. 9/25/11.

Still in COVID protocol; good doesn't have much flavor. More than likely, will not return.

Subsequent visits were disappointing because of sour past vegetables in the dishes. Too bad.

Good place to get take out in Gainesville/Haymarket. They're quick and minus once when they over spiced an order really consistent.

I cannot believe how awful this food is! By far the worst Chinese I've ever had. Two bites of every dish and I threw it right in the trash.

The portions are incredibly generous, and every dish we tried was delicious. The drunken noodles were packed with flavor, the fried rice was perfectly cooked, the Tso's chicken was excellent, and the steamed fish was fresh and beautifully prepared. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular tableside Flambé dessert--it was both delicious and a fun experience. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The owners were also warm and welcoming, adding to the wonderful dining experience. And don't skip the beer--it was fantastic! Great food, generous portions, outstanding hospitality, and excellent value. We'll definitely be back.

But what we did get was pretty darn good (if a bit pricey)! The style is much more authentic, so if you're looking for something like Hunan Cafe (Greenbriar), or that NOVA institution China King, this is different. Is it better? For the most part, yes. (But I still crave that Americanized sweet, spicy, glazey brown sauce that comes in slight variations in so many dishes). I had the hot and sour soup, Szechuan spicy fried eggplant sticks, Taiwanese rice noodles with fried tofu, and the Chengdu twice cooked pork. Everything was excellent, except....the hot and sour soup. Honestly, Hunan Cafe and China King beat the pants off this place's hot and sour soup. Here, it was a bit too sweet. It had some red chilies in it, but I could not detect much white pepper. And it's a vegetarian version, so no small bits of chicken or pork. I'd skip this the next time I order from here. But the other dishes... amazing! The noodles were light-tasting but still delicious. The eggplant was garnished with cilantro, garlic, salt, and red chili sauce. The twice cooked pork was sauteed with sliced leeks and the same red chili sauce. I think that's the fresh, zingy, spice flavor profile I like that can't be found at Americanized Chinese restaurants. Sure, China King has its place and I'll still go back there when I'm close (RIP China King Fair Lakes and Herndon). And admittedly, I go to that awful Panda chain occasionally because I never learn. The unfortunate thing is, I'll more likely go to these places than Cheng's because of the price. The pork dish was $21 and the noodle dish was $19. My total bill came to $60 before tax and tip. If I need to stuff my face with a Chinese umami bomb fast, I'm probably going to the other places for $15-30. I do want to try the rest of the menu at Cheng's, but it's going to be a drawn-out process for the sake of my wallet. I'd be remiss if I didn't include a comment from my dining partner. She compared the quality and taste of the food at Cheng's to Peter Chang's (either Peter Chang's-Herndon, or Mama Chang Fairfax). A high compliment. But she said the value is better at those places' AYCE options than what we got at Cheng's, and I agree. If you've been to none of these places, you have to try them all at least once.
