    General Tso's Chicken

Ordered egg fried rice and there was no egg to be found and rice was very bland and the chicken was not cooked in the center was still raw.

General Tao's, veggie friend rice and chow mein with veggies.

I tried the food after new ownership tonight. It's better. The friend rice was fine. Could use a little more flavor, maybe garlic and ginger. The chow mein was good. I added extra veggies. Egg rolls were fine. I asked about the pot sticker but they do not make them in house, so I passed. The General Tao's was not so great. It had too much breading on the chicken and the sauce was just average. Previously I considered the food there unbeatable. This time I plan to try more items. I would plan to do take out. The workers are yelling back and forth to the kitchen so that kind of ruins the ambiance. Service was great!

    Won ton appetizer

Very disappointed!!! We ordered a n appetizer (10) won ton and there no meat in it. The pork fried rice had no flavor . The egg drop soup was the only tasty food out of order.

Another view of the tiny shrimp that menu says are Jumbo.

We decided to try Asian Grill again a few months ago. It used to be our "go to" Asian restaurant but we gave it a break for two years after experiencing a pesticide or chemical taste in the food a few times in a row (might have been whatever they were cleaning their pans or utensils with). On the positive side: no more pesticide taste in the food. On the negative side: we used to get dinner plus a lunch out of the dinner portion. Now the dinner portions have been cut way back and are more like a large lunch portion. Ok, I can accept that. Portion size is on par with many Asian restaurants. Here is what is disappointing and while I will revert back to Moon China in Ocotillo. The thing I like best about Asian Grill was that their Jumbo Shrimp really featured Jumbo shrimp always. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a shrimp dish and the shrimp were maybe a medium. This week, I ordered and they were very snail, many the size of bay shrimp or barely larger. The menu still says "Jumbo" for every shrimp dish. I took pictures this time. The shrimp both times tasted like frozen, pre-cooked shrimp that was re-warmed. The texture was like shrimp that has been cooked twice. It was nearly flavorless. One had the big black vein (poop sack) in it. I did not eat that one. In the past, it tastes sweet and fresh. I wonder if the owners sold to someone who is cutting back on portion size and quality? Or if a manager cane aboard that made those changes? In any case, I won't be back -- at least not for shrimp if at all. I hope they see this and revert to how they used to be and maybe we'll go back. Photos attached.

First time trying this place. Will not be back. Food was tasteless. Not much sauce or meat. Lots of onions. Waste of money.

Good value and convenient for something different than my usual food. I have only done takeout. The inside seating is limited and spartan.

Parking was a breeze and seating was spacious. I like the interior a lot and the service was quite good (seeing that it was only one person taking down the orders and cleaning! very fast for that). For the food, we ordered chicken fried rice, fragrance tender beef, fish-flavored eggplant, boiled fish with pickled cabbage, and dry fried green beans. All of these dishes were yummy, in particular, my parents love the boiled fish with pickled cabbage and fragrance tender beef. I do think there is solid sichuan spice flavor. This is a great place to get Chinese food in Arizona :) **something to note, there might be a heightened salty flavor in some dishes so be wary haha We always visit!

We were also very happy with the value that we got for our food. We ordered a Kung Pao Chicken lunch special, a Chicken and Vegetable lunch special, and the Golden Fried Prawns appetizer. They have nightly entertainment and comfortable seating that make this the perfect outing. There is plenty of light and it is the nice casual vibe for lunch or dinner. We thought the salt and pepper pork was too dry or overcooked. And it doesn't seem fair to rate general Tso as it's a fried dish and by the time you eat it 40 minutes later, it's not crispy anymore. It was pretty good as we threw it in the air fryer to crisp it up. The staff was friendly and our food was ready in about 12 minutes. I can see why this place is popular.

Their food is consistently the same no matter how busy it is, most recently during a heavy dinner hour - prime time. Yes, expect to wait, we started the 30 plus wait time out side and then inside in the small waiting area. It's not fancy by any means. TVs with a game on, servers moving about, and a steady stream of to go orders. We had King Pao Chicken, Beef with broccoli and Mongolian Beef. Also Wongs fried rice & appetizer plate and soups. I had hot & sour soup, absolutely delicious, a little spicy as it should be. My Mongolian Beef was probably the best prepared, very tender beef and flavorful I've had, and always consistently the same each visit. The other entrees severed were equally flavorful, tender meats and served fresh & hot. Servers are kind and knowledgeable of each dish and offer suggestions of their favorites. The seating area is in need of updating but very clean, as are the restrooms. But it's about the quality, quantity & consistency that keeps me returning. Just go!

Ok so check this out…read more.. I was omw home from my sister's house and had a mad craving for Chinese food, specifically the eggplant dish that most Chinese restaurants offer. I called about 2 places while I was on the road trying to find it. Those first 2 places didn't have eggplant anything and they didn't know what I was talking about. Now how in the hell do you not have it let alone not know what I'm talking about?! Needless to say, I can't remember what the names of those places were, but clearly they are not worth remembering. Moving on along here... Wei Wok Chinese Bistro was the 3rd place I called and thank God they had it!! I placed my order so I could pick it up before going home. They even had a house special fried rice that has everything in it. Check out the big shrimp they throw in it!! No skimping here! When I got to the restaurant, they had it ready and it came right out of the kitchen. I paid for it and couldn't wait to devour it when I got home. Let me tell you, this is the real deal and I was so damn satisfied I think I may have danced around my kitchen island, lmao!!! The weird part is, I never liked it in my younger days, but now I am all about it! Thank you, Wei Wok, for your awesome service and fresh food. I will be keeping this one in my rotation for any future eggplant cravings. And no, I can't hang with spicy dishes, as I have mentioned a thousand times, lol. A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.
