Finally visited this spot and it did not disappoint! I recently met a friend here for dinner, and we happened to come during the districts sip, stroll and shop event. It was insanely busy at the restaurant, but we were able to get seats at the bar top - which I think made our experience even better. I'm not sure how it is usually, but the bar was extremely lively and upbeat. I have to say, the bartenders were fantastic and brought awesome energy. I love when it's obvious the fish and chips and was super pleased with the dish. It comes with fries and a small side of slaw. I'm not a big fan of coleslaw, so next time I'll probably try to substitute it for something else if possible. 21+ inside and family friendly outside! read more

Celebrating a birthday, we arrived earlier than our reservation, but the host graciously found us a table. Additionally, this same young man was just as attentive to us as our server Kirsten. The oysters Rockefeller were great! The chargrilled oysters were just as flavorful, but a little smaller. I ordered the seafood grits with a Cajun seasoning that were so so good. Tried the Happy hour for the first time today and I truly loved every second of it! The happy hour menu is good for all of Tuesday and there's some pretty good options on there. My friend and I got the crispy chicken sliders and the Cuban cigars from the menu. We also got the lobster and shrimp dip which was not part of the HH menu but my fave dish from the evening. The drink variety is also great! All around the service was fabulous. We sat at the bar and it seemed like a lot of regulars were coming in which made for a nice ambiance. Came back to try dinner menu! Same amazing service and food!! I had Surf and turf taco amd They were pretty good. The salt and vinegar fried were delicious! We tried the seafood dip, it was very cheese and I wanted spice. I had the house hot sauce and it was just the kick I needed! Can I buy that?!! It's so good! Slide me the recipe :) They only thing we didn't care for were the chicken wings. I would suggest asking for these to be fried hard. They are grilled then fried but was pretty slimy. So I'll start with the pluses first. The ambiance is very modern, hip and fun. I totally liked the vibe! The service was also really great! Super friendly and attentive. The Food and drinks is where I was a bit underwhelmed. The alcoholic beverages we order seemed really really sweet. That says something because I'm from Hawaii and I know sweet drinks lol We didn't get to order past the lobster and shrimp dip appetizer because when we got their appetizer it was REALLY salty. Loved everything! On a gorgeous Saturday evening we needed food after a long drive and found this bustling, pretty and really nice restaurant. After roadside food for 10 hours we wanted really good food. And cocktails. Really good cocktails. All were provided. We sat at the bar as we are wont to do - love chatting with the bartenders and Sydney was the best! Chose mojitos and some Brazilian drink I can't spell let alone pronounce... sounds like Ky-puh-DEE-nyuh? They were de-lucious! The Tipsy Mermaid is one of my favorite restaurants in Zionsville. The Key West theme makes me feel like I'm on vacation, even in the throws of winter. On Tuesday nights, they host "Tipsy Tuesday". Signature cocktails are half price and beer is $5. Wine bottles are 1/2 price. A selection of great appetizers are only $10 during Happy Hour (4:00-5:00) This is where you'll find me on Tuesday nights. And it's one of Zionsville's best kept secrets. This week. I had my usual, a Hot Tin 'Tini, a spicy martini concoction. I love the Medianoche Sliders, which are like miniature Cuban sandwiches. The sliders come with a tasty side of rice and beans. The food is good! I recommend the shrimp tacos and the shrimp and grits entrees. I love coming on Tuesday nights to catch up with my girlfriends. We try different cocktails and laugh. The service is always spectacular, friendly, attentive and fun. The servers wear shorts (even when it's zero degrees outside). I encourage reservations. We had been wanting to try the Tipsy Mermaid and had heard great things about it. It did not disappoint. Parking was readily available on the street and also a few steps away in the parking lot. We had a 4:30 reservation for Friday evening and were able to get seated right away. When you go into the restaurant you immediately get a beach vibe that was quite nice. Our server took drink orders right away and was helpful in advising about menu items. It was a tough choice as they had a whole page of tropical cocktails. I decided to get a coconut lime margarita that was tasty and large. Our appetizer was the conch and shrimp fritters that were delicious. I ordered the medianoche sliders as my meal. It came with a side of fries that were thin and crispy-yum. I chose the Cubano sliders. They have three on the plate but one was quite ample for the meal. You just gotta love the food and drinks here. I have to admit that I am not a seafood enthusiast. I do eat a few things likes shrimp, whitefish and such, but am generally very picky about it. What I am trying to say, that even people like me can find a lot of items on the menu to enjoy. I especially love their brunch items. Food and Drink: Had Tipsy Mermaid for a Devour brunch after church while running errands! I had the chicken and waffles, along with a pineapple-lemonade mix! The chicken tenders were tender and well seasoned. The waffles were fluffy and went perfect with the coconut rum glaze and syrup. I also got some of the sriracha honey for dipping my tenders and it was amazing!!! The meal also came with eggs your way and mine were just right - not overly cooked and not runny either. Customer Service: I sat at the bar and my bartenders were very attentive, and personable!! Great customer service all around especially when I asked their usual favorites before ordering. Parking and accessibility: It's the Zionsville area...if you know you know. It was somewhat busy but it was brunch time after church and there was still snow everywhere from the storm. Seafood tastes better with foodie friends. I was fortunate to meet up with some fellow food lovers for brunch at Tipsy Mermaid -- some who were Yelp Elites and some who were Yelp agnostics. We had a great time, and Tipsy Mermaid seemed like a great place for a small group to meet. They will happily split checks here. I got the Shrimp 'N Grits, which came with a nut-free pesto sauce and three grilled shrimp. This was not my favorite, as I expected the grits to be creamier; the grits were more like thick, lumpy mashed potatoes. The shrimp were a little overcooked, too, which was a bummer. But the good thing about dining out with people who love food and who love to share their food is that you get to taste other food! I got to taste the Conch & Shrimp Fritters (amazing!), the Louie's Caesar Salad (pretty good, but they pack it into a small bowl, and it's difficult to eat without spilling croutons and parm shreds all over the table), and a coconut rum crepe (yum!). They have lots of crepes here, both savory and sweet. The service is top-notch. We were taken care of, and our whole dining experience went smoothly, even though we had multiple tabs and people coming in late. A friend and I had dinner here on a weeknight and were glad we made a reservation because they were busy. The atmosphere is fun and bright and has a great island vibe. The servers were friendly and did a great job. The cocktail list had some interesting options but I ended up going with a classic lime mojito which was really good with a nice fresh mint flavor. We shared the coconut crack conch, and we were a little surprised that it was just coated in plain batter with some coconut sprinkled on top of the fried conch vs coconut incorporated into a coating. That said it was cooked nicely and reminded us a bit of clams. The sauce reminded me a bit of a bottled spicy duck sauce and was somewhat sweeter than I prefer. For my entree, I had the island life shrimp tacos with grilled shrimp. There were only about 2 shrimp per taco and they were tasty, but the bulk of the taco was an extremely sweet sauce, that reminded me of some bottled sauces I've had, rather than a fresher tasting grilled pineapple salsa. This plus other condiments made it impossible to pick the tacos up due to being so messy/drippy. The blue corn chips reminded me of those that I've had from a grocery store bag. Obviously I definitely wouldn't order these again. I might come back to get a cocktail and try something else as others seem more enthusiastic about the food based on their reviews. read more

Four of us went back to the tipsy mermaid in Zionsville. We have been there several times. It has an old Key West field to it. It's decorated super cute. We had the fish spread and buffalo shrimp for appetizers. Both were delicious. One couple had the 305 fish pasta. They said that was absolutely delicious and they've had it several times. We split the blackened mahi tacos. Oh my gosh they were awesome. I should mention the service was outstanding. Noah was our server. What a great job he did. The manager even stopped by to check on us. We would probably make it our regular go to place for lunch and dinner but we live on the southside so it's a bit of a drive. I highly recommend it. I was actually quite impressed by this place. It's a Key West inspired restaurant, that had the summer vacation feels. It was very clean inside as well which I always love. The food wasn't anything special but everything was cooked very well, and came to the table hot, I was not disappointed. The coconut syrup glaze was the star of the meal for me, I even took some home. The mimosa flight was maybe 6/10 the blueberry one wasn't good to me but I did enjoy the guava and key like ones. Easily a dozen appetizers as well as entrees to choose from, all full sized portions and off of their regular menu. Love the white beach decor, nautical light fixtures and bright paintings! Hubs had the lightly batter shrimp with buffalo sauce and Gorgonzola crema; I had the Hemingway ceviche served with more than enough blue corn chips. Dinner choices were surf & turf tacos and the coconut crusted mahi-mahi. Both were delicious! Dessert we both ordered the key lime pie, I mean how could you not!!!! We went for Happy Hour and $10 appetizers. I have been craving coconut shrimp but unfortunately it wasn't as good as expected. It was fried shrimp with coconut on the top instead of in the batter. The sauce wasn't my favorite either, it was a spicy sauce with habanero and I prefer a sweet pina colada sauce. Jin's got the Cajun Oysters and Cuban Cigars and said they were both really good. Decided to try something different today and headed to Zionsville to the Tipsy Mermaid, and it did not disappoint. Brunch menu items only as it was a Sunday. Decided to go with the Breakfast Club BLT and my brunch partner went with the B Cafe Steak & Eggs. I opted out of the guacamole on the BLT. It was excellent with perfectly cooked bacon and toasted/grilled sourdough bread. I chose the fries as a side which were very good. My brunch partner enjoyed the steak and eggs, saying it was "yummy". It looked great Service was quick and polite, even though they were quite busy.
