Real solid Chinese American takeout. Moved here from NYC where I had at least Chinese American takeouts close by to order from within a few blocks. Each had their best dishes. I tried a place in Brentwood and a place in Franklin both were terrible. You would have been better off getting the frozen stuff from Trader Joe's. I lost hope until I stumbled upon Asian Taste. Chicken with mixed vegetables was great. Good sauce, white meat chicken and vegetables still had some crunch. Fried rice was great had a good wok fire. Spare ribs were tasty. Don't let the cover of the book fool you. This place is actually one of the best Chinese places that I have tried between Franklin and Spring Hill. Their dumplings are oh so delicious. I have had Thai and Chinese dishes here. They are all good with a lot of good portion. I am doing a 3 star because this is the 2nd time that I have ordered way early on "BeyondMenu" during lunch to not have my order ready on pickup time. Today I ordered an hour early and came right on time (11:50am). I had to wait for the people in line which is understandable, but after taking 10 minutes for me to finally get to the counter, they didn't have my order ready and was still "working on it". I asked them what is the use for me to order an hour early. He said that if they made it too early it would be cold...which was a bunch of crap because this was at least 15 minutes after it was supposed to be done when I got it in my hands. With the Pei Wei near Whole Foods gone, New China in McKay'a Mill closed until schools open, and a mad hankering (look it up) for Chinese, we opted for Asian Taste. The menu is very similar to New China's, so it was easy ordering our favorites. Not only was the menu similar, but the taste was very close to New China's. The General Tso's at Asian Taste carries more heat than New China's dish, but I'm mild fluctuations like that can be expected. Asian Taste has, for now, become our source for Chinese takeout. I found them on Yelp and it has been an unbreakable bond sense. The food is always fresh. They have the best take out plastic containers. The restaurant is always clean in my opinion. Food was ok - beef if that's what it actually was was really weird ,,, my issue with this place is how unbelievably rude they are to customers.... We even asked them if they could not be rude and they got even snippier.... All we did was going to pick up an order and pay for it and the managed to act like complete jerks ... no soy sauce or anything in our bag ... Best Chinese take-out I've had so far in the area. Portions are generous. I didn't expect much meat on the $8.99 dinner combo, but there was actually enough for two people. They don't skimp on the fried rice. Our serving contained mixed veg and plenty of egg and chicken. Most places just sprinkle some soy sauce the rice and throw it in the wok, and you're lucky to get a scallion here and there. Can't give full marks on the fried rice, as I would have preferred char siu pork instead of chicken. All the sauces we tried were tasty, and there were no weird bits in the chicken, a bit of a rarity these days. We will be back! read more

We have been pretty disappointed by the Chinese takeout in Franklin thus far. So that is why Asian Taste gets 4 stars for being solidly good! We ordered online and then picked up our food. The soup was good, and the rice fresh. I liked that my fried pieces (sweet and sour pork) were not over cooked like some other places have done. I would say this is an A-okay three star place to get your typical inexpensive Chinese takeout, but in the context of what else is available in the area, it is 4-stars in its category. I want to try their Orange Chicken and Genera Tso's next. My husband had the General Tso's tofu and felt it was as good as other places locally. This is my 2nd time being here and I actually like it. I honestly wish I could give a 3.5 rating cause I think that 3 is too low. I work in Franklin and like to stop by here for lunch. I think it's a great blend of value and flavor. I've ordered Kung Pao chicken and Shrimp lo mein off their lunch menu and always spend less than $7 after taxes. The flavor of their foods is just right. Not overly saucy like a lot of Chinese places can get. The hot and sour soup is also perfectly flavored and not too bland or salty. The only downside I have is that, the crackers that come with my soup are always stale and the shrimp in my low mein was overly cooked. Other reviews prompted me to try this place located in a strip mall in Franklin. In my experience, the food was what I expected based on the venue - cheap, fast, mediocre Chinese fare. I tried the General Tso's chicken with the lunch special that included egg roll and fried rice. The chicken was excessively breaded (way too much) resulting in large clumps that were served in an excessive pool of sauce. The egg roll was "OK" as was the fried rice. The soda selection: Red Bull, Sprite, Diet Coke, Coke, Seagrams Ginger Ale, Fanta (Orange, Pineapple, and Peach), Mellow Yellow, Minute Maid (Watermelon Punch and Lemonade), and Dr. Pepper. They also have Sweet, Unsweetened, and Hot Tea. The top dishes are: Sweet and Sour Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Pad Tai, Singapore Mei Fun, Shrimp Lo Mein, Dragon and Phoenix, Happy Family, Chicken w/ Broccoli, Chicken w/ Mixed Vegetables. Top appetizers: Crab Rangoon, Chicken on a Stick, Dumplings, BBQ Spare Ribs, and (probably the number one thing people love on the menu) our egg rolls. If you don't trust me or think I'm just trying to give this restaurant a good rating, come on and give us a shot. Based on reviews on this site I see we have a higher rating than PF Chang's and Panda Express. You shouldn't let the name "Family Run" decide where you go to eat. We have become a fan of this place, but oddly, I've never stepped foot inside. We order to go through the yelp app as they are very near our house, and I have an awesome hubby who has done the picking up. I am a fan of the steamed pork dumplings and the chicken lo mein - and you get a lot for your money. What's especially great about that is when you are ordering to go anyway, you can try and bunch of stuff and then have leftovers to take to lunch afterwards. Have also had the cashew chicken and beef and broccoli, both very enjoyable as well. The smaller entrees come in the standard Chinese take out boxes, and larger entrees like the cashew chicken, etc. come in a plastic container that even reheats in the microwave. Both the general tso chicken and vegetable lo mein were delicious. The combo meal is a great deal and comes with a good portion of both chicken and fried rice as well as an egg roll. Everything tasted fresh and was not overly greasy. They claim not to use MSG and I'd believe it. My meal did not leave me feeling sick, bloating and regretting my decisions like some other Chinese places do...The chicken consisted of large pieces that were tender and not dried out. You can order online or call in. To my knowledge they do not have delivery but my food was ready for pickup in 15 minutes.
