I know this might to be fair to the server but I live on a fixed income and its not fair to me neither. We come through town once a year, and we always eat here, sometimes twice on the same trip. Real chile relleno mom loved it, and the wife and I loved the carne asada. Definitely will eat here again. It had been a year since we ate here. My husband wanted Mexican food and it sounded good to me so off we went to lunch. I ordered fish tacos and he ordered a chili relleno and beef enchilada. I was confused about my fish tacos. The fish was in uneven chunks and there was a large piece of what looked like tofu on each taco. I asked our server what it was and he said it was queso fresca. The fish was okay though the smaller pieces were very dry. The coleslaw was tasty but I really wished the queso fresca had been grated. The rice was dry but the beans tasted good. The food wasn't very flavorful, just okay. The mild salsa was very watered down and a light taste of tomato. I had chicken deluxe enchiladas, with rice and whole beans. It comes with sour cream and guacamole. The best thing was the guacamole. The service was good, and we were sat right away, and our order taken quickly. Reporting on my one visit, one a trip to Susanville. Overall would definitely go again when in Susanville. Well-prepared food served by a very nice staff. I personally wouldn't order the chicken Tacos al Carbon again - I'm used to soft corn tortilla tacos and stayed away from the crispy-taco options, though I hadn't experienced "wet" corn tortillas. I found them a kinda greasy, leathery thing to have around my grilled chicken, would just go with crispy next time, but that's probably just how "wet tortillas" are supposed to be. But all the ingredients were good and fresh, and I liked the chips and salsa (OK, salsa was probably from a jar, but not at all bad), and the friendly and prompt service. read more

Got the recommendation from a local to go to Mazatlan for lunch while on work travel. Great suggestion! Really extensive menu with a ton of options for just about anyone. Great chips with two salsas of varying spice levels. I opted for a super tasty bowl of tortilla soup that was chock full of diced chicken, cheese, avocado and tortilla chips in a flavorful broth. I also had two mole enchiladas with beans and rice. Oh, and they have Modelo Especial on tap, which I cannot pass up whenever I see it, since it tends to be a rarity. I was so hungry I gobbled it all up before I even thought to take any photos, so you'll just have to take my word for it. My server Jose had no joy, no interest in serving us. It's hard when you feel like you are bothersome to the server. I'm upset I can't give this place zero stars, it doesn't even deserve one. We came here since we don't think there are many other Mexican restaurants around here... it all started when we asked for a high chair and got a broken one, asked if I could get one that wasn't broken, and I was told no that that's all they had and just left me there standing lol. One waitress took our order and a few minutes after a waiter came to take our order, but we told him someone else had taken care of it... waited about 30 minutes for our food, place wasn't packed whatsoever...got one order wrong and when we told them it was wrong, the waiter goes, asks the waitress who took our order what happened, and then comes back and tells us that WE ordered the wrong thing ? Then he says "well do you still want the other dish". My husband wasn't going to wait another 30 minutes so he just said no. Food wasn't anything special, service was worse. No one ever went to ask if we needed a refill on our drinks or if everything was okay. Just a letdown overall, horrible experience. I rarely ever experience bad service, but this one probably made up for the bad experiences I haven't had in restaurants lol. DO BETTER! read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. A month ago we ordered a platter of rice and beans and two sides of salsa for a party, and we decided we wanted to again for a party today for my dads birthday. We ordered over the phone and had the entire order repeated to us. Keep in mind we already knew what the price would be because we ordered this a month ago. We get to the restaurant to pick it up and had an argument with the lady at the front, she claims we didn't order beans. How in the world would a platter of rice and two sides of salsa cost $58.72? It wouldn't. When we ordered it last time it was $58.72 for EVERYTHING. All we asked was to please be given the beans as well because we paid for it and she kicked us out because she said we were wrong. Never coming back here again.
