Aslin has become one of our staples when we are in the Pittsburgh area. We love being down in the strip district anyways and this Brewery just makes it even better. They have a wide selection of beers available and the great thing is their selection is also varied. They have multiple sour options, they have IPA options, ales and much more. They also offer mixed cocktails as well. My go to with them is the volcano sauce. It is a sour brewed with fruit and does not have that weird sour finish on it. Very easy to drink. I did have a glass of their 10:10 which is a barrel aged Brandywine and it is delicious. A little sweet, but very good. My husband had the flat wood monster (oak-aged barleywine) and he loved it! This location is really large so if you have large groups and you're looking for somewhere to eat (yes they have a kitchen so you can get food) or to just grab a drink, this is an ideal location for you to stop by and get out of the heat if you need to and just relax. Aslin is a Virginia-based brewery and I've had their beers several times at a variety of places. I was looking forward to them having a Pittsburgh location at The Terminal. Here's the thing, the beers are decent. But, the brewery falls flat. There no vibe, nothing exciting or fun. The service is kinda lowkey bad. I'm used to brewery life being a gathering of friends (even amongst strangers). It's all just kinda off. Plus, I mean if you don't want to wait on customers or treat them nicely, why work at a brewery? Honestly, this should be a two-star review. However for now, the beers are allowing for the three-stars. I *might* give them another chance next time I'm home for a visit. I want to follow up with a more recent review. I still had a great experience! Have been here several times now with the most recent being yesterday. I actually brought my laptop to do some work and there were several others also working. I ordered the astro zombie beer and the smash burger. All were excellent! Modern, super spacious brewery in the terminal. Order via a QR code. Quick delivery of goods. Cheese curds- tiny little scrumptious bites but the marinara could have been better (boring.) I've visited Aslin twice in the past month. Both times, I've had good experiences. First off, this place is located in the strip terminal and it is pretty big! There is indoor and outdoor seating available. You can either order at the bar or use the QR code at each table to order by phone. On my first visit, I ordered a Bloody Mary and some hummus. The Bloody Mary was one of the better ones I've had, with lots of good flavor! The hummus was also really good. My only small complaint about the hummus was that it said it came with pita, but it was large slices of pizza crust. The second time o visited, I just had a hard cider. I got to explore Aslin Beer Company for the first time earlier this month, and it made a great first impression! Their space is large, colorful, and clean - it's so nice and inviting. There's a lower level, upper level, and outdoor seating area, i.e. there are plenty of seats to accommodate the Strip District's crowds. I personally was here for a nice chill reading event (on a Tuesday, i.e. a quieter night); but I can easily see this being a board game day spot for folks too, since there's so much room to gather and spread out. Plus there are arcade games and pinball machines here already. Basically, I got "cozy gathering vibes" from the place. Aslin also serves an extensive beer and food menu. I especially appreciate the wide range of beer options, because my sensitive stomach can only handle certain kinds of brews. I tried the Corvette Steve and really liked it; it's a sour beer that walks the line between too tart and too fruity (with hints of blackberry, strawberry, banana, and marshmallows and vanilla - very good for the fall!). But definitely don't sleep on the food options; this is some of the nicest "bar" food you'll find in the city. I just wanted some lite bites to go with my beer so I ordered their kale and butternut squash side plate; but after seeing the large pretzels and burgers arriving at other tables, I'll make sure I come hungry for my second visit! This place is massive, with tons of seating which was appreciated on a busy Saturday! You can order right at your table using the QR code, or you can head to the bar. Just a heads up though you can't order food at the bar, so I'd recommend grabbing a table right away and placing your whole order there. We ended up on two separate tabs after ordering beer at the bar and then pizza at the table. The pizza took a little while to come out, so just be prepared for a bit of a wait if you're ordering food. Overall, it's a really cool spot, plenty of fun arcade games, great seating for both small and large groups, and a family friendly vibe. A very open and airy brewery with lots of natural light making its way into the taproom, I have to say it was a nice change to the darker places I've been too over the years... Everything about this place was open and light-filled. I liked how that had some old arcade games and pinball to play with, added to the very young, hipster vibe the place gave off to me. It was another large and open area for seating, to go along with a decent sized bar. My son and I had their Volcano brew - the most delicious sour I have had to date. In fact, my son bought a 6er and I now regret not doing the same. The service was interesting - you ordered via phone and someone out the back brought you the drinks. I have done this before and haven't had much luck with it, but there were on top of it here - a welcomed experience. Visited Aslin after doing some shopping in the Strip district. It was self-seating, and they had QR codes at all the indoor and outdoor tables where you would get the menu and place your order directly on the site. While that does make things efficient, I'd prefer to speak to a server when it comes to a beer company so I can get their recommendations and learn more about the different beers before ordering and so I can request a taste/sample before pulling the trigger on a full pour. For those reasons, I kept things simple with the Aslin lager which was easy to drink. We also ordered some bar snacks that were really good - the pretzel and the cheese curds. Instead, I stopped in because I saw they also had a coffee bar, and as I've said in past reviews, the Pittsburgh Independent coffee scene is chef's kiss. So I had to try it. My friends. MY FRIENDS. Go get the coffee. First off, the espresso is pretty solid. I would have liked it to be pulled a touch longer, but the barista politely explained why that would be a problem for the bar, and I absolutely was fine with it. Still a good solid espresso shot, certainly no complaints here. But here's where I really got excited: all their syrups are house made. I love me some Torino, but house made gets my attention every single day of the week and twice on Sunday. I took a spin on their specialty Café Miél, which the sign pitched as tasting like Honey Nut Cheerios. MY FRIENDS. It did not disappoint. I'm not a huge honey person, but the honey and cinnamon complimented each other nicely, yet neither overpowered the other, as both those flavors can do if unchecked. Exceptional drink. We stopped by Aslin for their Mardi Gras celebration on Saturday. There was a band playing on one end of the room and it was so loud that we immediately went and got a table on the other side of the room. The inside is pretty big so good for groups and you can order everything in terms of food and drinks via QR code to be delivered to your table. There's a large front area near the coffee counter, a large area next to the bar on the ground floor with gaming machines, and an upstairs area as well. Our beignets were good and the coffee ice cream that came with it even better. The shrimp po'boy was decent but nothing to write home about. The brunch burger was delicious and I enjoyed my King Baby draft although everyone else found it too heavy. read more

Well...another visit recently and not much better. Except this time there was one server (male, young-ish) who was truly good and very responsive. Kinda cool brewery with uncool servers. The day we went I had been wanting to try this place since it opened, but I hadn't had a chance to stop by as of yet. We walked up to the bar and sat down to order some drinks but the server was kinda b*tchy. She also informed me that they don't accept cash, what!? Needless to say she had a tip jar on the counter which I thought was funny. The whole QR code ordering thing is a joke too. Come on! Are you that lazy that we now have to place our own orders too? Smh! I kinda like this place, but the service was not great and what is the point of coming to have beers and food if we have to do all the work!? Why not just get robots and have them serve us through a kegerator!? I did enjoy my beers, but the whole reason I love breweries is due to the good vibes and helpful and friendly servers. Aslin is a Northern Virginia-based brewery and I've visited their other DC-area taprooms in the past. I was surprised to see a taproom open in the Strip District of Pittsburgh on a recent visit, so I felt like I had to stop inside. Plus it was a super hot day, so the a/c was refreshing! The venue itself is gorgeous and very well done. The menu is expansive and they have several draft options in addition to other wines and cocktails. They have a food menu also that sounded lovely, but I wasn't hungry at the time, so I skipped eating anything. The sour beer I had was delightful. They had a fire alarm go off in the building during our visit, and they handled it nicely and had us back inside in no time. I didn't have a great food experience on my last visit. I decided to venture outside my usual picks (cauliflower bites and impossible jr with fries), which I regret in retrospect. My +1 got a veggie dog, which was a sad little puppy lost in a huge, dry bun. Poor thing. I ordered the Spring Cavatelli without the parmesan and had to put salt and pepper on it to compensate for the lack of flavor. Chipotle chicken wrap 9/10 Super fresh wrap, and a pretty good size too. The Chipotle chicken was shredded, with the consistency similar to a chicken salad. It had a good bit of heat to it, like a medium I'd say. The avocado added some coolness to the bite, and the bacon flavor came through so well. Lot of arugula too, but it was perfect.
