I can't rate this business (fraud providers) and less. I'm going to be short and concise. This place billed my insurance $300 to xray me and try and sell me on a treatment plan (6 previous dental visits failed to tell me I need this plan) and only concern was upselling me, raping my insurance company AND I still did not get a cleaning. I'm sure the morning business meeting was a good one, hey we got a guy coming in that's going to be moving, let's sell the treatment plan and not do what he came to have done. Also, they never once told me I was coming in for a bunch of BS, and they would not be cleaning (which is the appointment that i scheduled). I will be 100% reporting this business and telling my insurance company of the thievery and deceit they are pulling. read more

Beware of aspen dental billing practices. The will double charge you for services. It is questionable if all the procedures they charge for are even done. It is impossible to tell for sure. It is there policy to have you pay in full before any procedure. When it is all over they will charge you some more. They will not ever give you a paid in full receipt. I do not recommend Aspen Dental. I went in for a tooth extraction that required anesthesia and had a consultation beforehand to confirm everything would be covered by insurance. Due to my financial situation, I made it very clear that coverage was important, and they assured me everything was taken care of not only that, she even called me to said that she had to make some changes to billing, because some things were incorrect, and it looked like everything would be covered. A few months later, I received an unexpected $170 bill for a consultation that was not covered by insurance. When I called my insurance company, they confirmed the charge was from Aspen Dental, not a mistake on their end. In fact, the representative told me that whenever they hear a call about Aspen Dental, they already know it's going to be an issue. Aspen Dental has a reputation for telling patients procedures are covered, only to later bill them with hidden or unwarranted charges. In my case, they deliberately used a billing code for the oral surgeon consultation that they knew wasn't covered, despite telling me otherwise. On top of that, their prices are inflated. Overall, I would not recommend Aspen Dental, especially if you don't want surprise bills showing up in your mychart Not to mention, after reading through other patient reviews, it's clear that I'm not alone, this seems to be a recurring issue with Aspen Dental. They repeatedly assure patients that procedures will be covered, only to later send unexpected bills, all while knowingly using billing codes that insurance will not cover. I went here to have my teeth whitened and was told I would need an initial exam before, but that I could probably be whitened the same day. When I got there they immediately did a full set of bite wings and a panoramic exrays. Then the dentist tells me I have three cavities (I just had my teeth cleaned by my dentist 3 months ago). She tells me she won't whiten my teeth until the cavities are fixed. Then I go to scheduling and they inform me it will be $1000 out of pocket and that the whitening would cost $750. This is twice the price of other dentists in Madison. Fortunately, I didn't get gouged for the exrays and insurance covered them. But I walked out and will not return. I wish I had read all these scathing reviews I should have never went in the first place. read more

I went to go get a retainer due to my wire fraying. I got a 3D scan at the beginning of the initial visit for the retainer. It was arranged that the subsequent appointment in three weeks would then have the new retainer and take the remaining part of the wire off. I get a confirmation a week before the appointment figuring the retainer came in. I show up. I pay for the visit. They want to do the initial scans again. Meanwhile it has been a month, my teeth have already shifted. I did communicate that I will likely be going to another dentist. I then am advised to go to the Accounting Manager to look into a reimbursement. The Accounting Manager tells me I am all good and there will be no refund. Time and money wasted due to poor service and communication. read more

I went there to get new dentures. I also had 5 teeth that helped to hold my previous pair of dentures in place. They told me I needed those teeth pulled. I have since wondered why they couldn't have been filled or crowned or whatever they needed but at the time I just went with it, not thinking to question it. My huge mistake. How likely is it that all five were too far gone to be saved? Regardless as I said I let them be pulled. Just as the dentist was about to begin pulling them, he said "some people need to get posts as well as dentures" I said I doubted I could afford that and he actually shrugged! Then I remembered when I got the first set of dentures I'd been told I was lucky I had those teeth because they'd be a lot of help for the lower denture to hold. Then I got the temp dentures you wear while they make the permanent ones. They were huge and unwearable. Then I got my dentures. The bottom one came out every time my mouth even watered. I couldn't eat with them AT ALL EVER. I also went back several times to have them adjusted because they did not fit properly on top. The dentist asked me to describe how they didn't fit at least three times before I was annoyed enough to say "why don't you examine the fit and SEE what's wrong!"She actually laughed! They never did get it right and I couldn't eat with them on anyway, so I gave up. The other complaint I have is they rotate dentists - I only had the same dentist twice out of four visits. Aspen dental? More like ASS-pen dental I went in for a tooth extraction and it was such an uncomfortable experience. I already have so much dental anxiety as it is and this whole experience just made it a thousand times worse. The dentist pretty much lied to me and told me that I should not feel any pain during the procedure while I was in so much pain. They did not offer me any laughing gas or play a movie to distract me which are things that have helped me at other dental offices. I do understand that it is an affordable dental office and that they were able to get me in right away. Those are the only two positives about the place. If you have any dental anxiety whatsoever I would never recommend going here. read more

I was searching for a new dentist in town -- a place with flexible hours. I went in late last month for a check up and cleaning. Altogether, it took a little over an hour. The atmosphere was nice, clean and they had modern equipment compared to what I have seen. The staff were kind and provided preventive information. My appointment began with completing new patient paperwork, followed with X-rays. What stood out to me was when they had me test a new Oral B electric toothbrush. I had never used one before so it was a neat experience, and it saved them from needing to brush my teeth (what I'm used to getting at a cleaning). I rated the electric toothbrush and noted who prepped it for me. They told me it could be purchased in their office, then had the dentist review my X-rays. This part was nice because the images were displayed on a monitor in front of me and the he explained what he saw to me--no concerns (whew!). Following that, I reviewed my charges before wrapping up my cleaning. My insurance covered the X-rays and cleaning, and there were additional charges for the electric toothbrush (which I thought was interesting and opted not to get) and a topical fluoride. I didn't expect to pay that much out of pocket, but since I slacked on dental maintenance for the last couple years, said what the hey with it. Only go here if you plan on being ripped off. I initially chose Aspen because they promise no surprise pricing and offered a free initial exam and x-rays. The staff was courteous but the appointment felt less like a dental exam and more like an assumptive sales transaction. They get you in the chair and then try to charge you from everything from an electric toothbrush to Invisalign retainers. After the 'free' portion of your visit you'll be taken up front and given an estimate loaded with fluff and non-essentials. Its a complete turn off and if it hadn't been the end of the year and I had 'use it or lose it' flexible spending money I needed to use I would have walked out after the free portion. I really wish I had. If they make any changes, (like my hygienist did during my first appointment) they will not have you sign a revised bill for those services and if you contest them later they will not refund you appropriately. I had to file for a contested credit card transaction because their unhelpful office manager Jessica would not admit that they don't document changes to treatment plans appropriately. Even that will not be for the full amount I am owed. During the payment process they will not confirm which services are considered medically necessary or cosmetic i.e. covered by FSA or out of pocket. The staff actually providing the work are very nice when they are not sales-pitching you. I did have cavities filled here and they feel just fine. But I can't imagine how price gouged you would be if you walked into that office in pain and were at the mercy of these people. There is not thoughtful advisement - they just throw EVERYTHING possible at you. Aside from the major issues, scheduling and keeping an appointment is also an issue. They will make you confirm every appointment 3x or more or threaten to remove you from the appointment time. I can understand wanting this for an initial patient appointment scheduled online. Dr wang is honestly one of the best dentists I've ever had. He never makes you feel bad about your teeth and the state they Are in. He's also the only dentist that has knumbed me wo pain from the needle in my gums. It was awesome for him to be the only one to tell me that the real issue was my unaligned teeth. And just a side note for anyone this location takes the dental savings cards which saves you a lot of money and pages for itself at the first visit!!!! Saved me 30-40% read more

I chose Aspen upon a recommendation from a business associate. I needed a denture along with the implants to secure. I was not aware that they could not do their own cbct scan and therefore had to go to Waukesha to have this done. Needless to say 6 months later I call to see what is going on as I had not heard anything from them and probably still wouldnt have had I not called. They tell me the xray did not turn out and that another would be needed. This procedure has well crossed the year mark and I have now requested a return of money that they have had of mine for over a year. They also stated they may not be able to refund for the poor scan as it was performed/ really? I stated had I purchased defective merchandise I would get a refund therefore I expected that from them. They told me insurance wouldn't cover the full cost of my basic cleaning and fillings replaced--something that surprised me and that I clarified at the time. Insurance has since informed me that this was incorrect, and that Aspen charged me even though the insurance had covered the full price. Aspen also listed the wrong tooth to be filled, tried and failed to fill it two full times before managing it (causing me to leave 30 mins after they promised me I would be out), and my teeth still hurt almost a month after the basic cleaning. I've been to the dentist twice a year for most of my life and have never encountered such incompetent dentistry. I now understand why people hate the dentist. They are in place to make money, not to care for your teeth. Go elsewhere. read more

The people that work there are fine. I was told to get a root canal and I went, only to find that making an appointment to get it capped/crowned would be impossible. They sent me to voicemail every time and told me to call back "within hours of operation"-I have always called within their hours of operation. I left messages only to be called back an hour to hours later, when I had engagements to attend to. I called 6 times. Called a different Aspen dental and was told I needed to have a cleaning before I could get crowned. now I am stuck with a temporary filling and calling every dentist that I can to try and sort this out. read more

Had appointment for all X-rays and a cleaning earlier this year. The appointment was standard, but when I had told them I just had all of my X-rays completed less than six months ago, they refused to have those sent over and insisted that I have them done at their office. My other dental office had no issue with doing this as long as it was in a one year period. I wasn't super happy about it but I obliged. Called last week to ask them to send my last X-rays to my current dentist, was told that I'd be given a call back and no one called me. I called them again to ask for my records to be released, and now I'm being told that I have to go into the office to sign release forms. No apology for not getting a call back, and no apology for inconvenience. They don't really care about the patient and that's the main reason I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

Went to Aspen Dental for a handful of appointments when I got my new insurance. Never had a cavity, but they tell me I have 4 after a 5 minute "cleaning". Within 3 years, I've had to had 3/4 replaced by another dentist already, including one needing a root canal because they either didn't get all the rot, or the filling wasn't binding correctly. My current dentist told me the filling looked like it was over 10 years old. Will be seeing Aspen Dental in small claims court. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! read more

This Aspen dental office (E. Washington only,) doesn't stand behind their work. I had over $5000 of work done the past six months. I had problems with the cap they did on tooth number 12. I went back to have it checked almost immediately because a thin piece around the gum had came off. They checked & said it was "OK and that can happen". Problems continued and became more & more sensitive to warm and cold. I informed them at least two additional times during visits. I made an appointment only to go in and insist they do something about that tooth. I was told I would have to pay $174 before they would even look at it. Also, I was told, to my extreme surprize , "no documentation" of my prior complains in my record. I will have to have that Aspen $1775.00 unguaranteed cap work undone and redone at a different dentist. Huge double expense for me. I most definitey would NOT recommend this Aspen dental clinic on East Washington Ave. I want to make it clear, my review is only this individually owned Aspen Dental Clinic. read more

I don't recommend this place at all. I thought I needed to switch dentists due to state insurance changes. I arrived for a standard dental checkup (no issues with my teeth), saw a technician who quickly took X-rays, saw another technician who checked for soft areas in my teeth, saw a dentist who pronounced my teeth okay. I was there for less than 40 minutes. Then they said, "Make an appt for a teeth cleaning," and I was shocked. I mean, the ENTIRE reason I made the appt was to have my teeth cleaned!! And they want me to take off work AGAIN? The manager came in to the exam room and said, sorry, that's their policy. I said, that is BS, and walked out. I will never go there again. read more

One visit was on a Saturday, which was very convenient for me. I'm very satisfied with the work. Also, Danielle is very conscientious and positive. I have been embarrassed about my teeth for a long time but the staff never judged me or treated me with anything but respect. Where to start?! This office has given me so much stress. At my first appointment with this office, the staff was all friendly. The hygienist was complementing me on how nice my teeth are. The dentist then comes in and says I need a lot of fillings. I was in such shock by this that I did not know what to say. The dentist leaves almost as quickly as the amount of time that she looked in my mouth. I ask the hygienist many questions to which she couldn't answer. I then ask to speak with the dentist again and see why there are so many. She didn't even poke around in my mouth, so I wasn't sure how she knew this. The hygienist leaves and comes back to say that all my old ones need to be redone. I ask why and she said that they are old. The dentist did not even come back in to speak with me. I get ushered to the finance guy who puts together payment plan options for me and wants me to sign all these forms. I've never been at a dentist like this before. Not long after my appointment, my husband goes for his appointment. He comes home saying that he has a new filling and all his old ones need to be redone also. He has recently come to America and not originally English-speaking. All his dental work he has had done, has been in the short time he has been here, so I know his fillings are all pretty new (about 1-2 years old), so I find it hard to believe fillings need to be redone "because they are old". The new filling is believable so a couple weeks later, he goes for his follow up appointment to have that done. After that, we decide to seek care elsewhere because I question the honesty of the dentist. This was in February. Fast forward to our cleanings at our new dental office in November. I am told I have zero fillings needing to be done and all my old fillings are fine and actually am told it is not good practice to just redo fillings because you have to grind down the teeth a bit to remove the old and put a new one. Then my husband has his appointment and all looks well too. I was just going to leave my issues with Aspen Dental at that, but then we get a bill for my husband's cleaning at the new office. I check with insurance who says they cannot cover my husband's cleaning because he has gone over his allotted two cleanings/year. I check the claims to find out that Aspen billed our insurance for my husband's cleaning and then for another cleaning when he was under the impression that he was getting a filling only about two weeks later!!! Why would an honest organization give a patient a teeth cleaning and then again another at the same office only two weeks later, knowing that is all insurance covers for the year?? And my husband does not know now if he even received the filling he was under the impression he was meant to get. I feel like we were taken advantage of with his language barrier and staff was not good with being upfront about the treatment plan either and why the treatment plan was needed-even to myself. I feel like they were VERY in-depth about how we can pay for it though! I really feel like the integrity of the office is in question and the medical billing to insurances could be considered fraud. Commercial dentistry at its worst. I felt like I was on a used car sales lot. Went in for a chipped tooth and cleaning (which didn't even get completed because your first visit is only a consultation) and left angry with an estimate of nearly $3000 AFTER my insurance coverage. I kept saying that my first priority was to address the chipped tooth, but the estimate included so much unnecessary pricey stuff including an electric toothbrush (even when I mentioned I had just been gifted the SAME EXACT model.) I understand they want to get "your whole mouth healthy," but I am used to a dental clinic that will address the issues on the forefront and then work their way down the rest of the list. Aspen Dental is nothing more than corporate dentristy where company policy and revenue come before the client. I will never go back. I sincerely hope that I do not get billed for the 14 x-rays I had initally denied. One last complaint: have lead thyroid covers and lead glasses available for clients when completing radiographs. I had to ask for the thyroid blocker and they don't even have lead glasses on hand in the clinic. read more
