Disappointing. Uncomfortably cold inside. Really slow service -- was nearly an hour from when we were seated to when we received our appetizers. Were seated at last booth by the bar where we felt a very annoying vibration coming up through the floor the entire time we were there. Were told there weren't any open tables to move to. Food was pretty good, but didn't make up for the otherwise sub-par experience and wasn't really worth the price. read more

The reason this review is notable is that I'm one of the few people who does not enjoy eating out. I can't say enough about the taste of the food here. I'm a vegetarian and I will admit that they could offer some vegetarian dishes on the menu besides ordering sides. I was disappointed at first until I tasted the sides. So delicious!! Also huge portions (too huge). My husband had surf and turf which he loved and Dad had fresh fish which he said was fresh and delicious. Also, for appetizer I had fried green tomatos that were better than I knew tomatoes could taste. Not too much breading. Only downside was live music that was too loud and ruined the ability to have a conversation, especially with a hard of hearing father. Also a bit pricey, but worth it. This is a not-to-be-missed restaurant while you are in the Myrtle Beach area. The food and service are superb. Everything we ordered from the Fried Green Tomatoes with Crab appetizer to the Blueberry Bread Pudding dessert was delicious. The French Onion Soup and Asian Pear Salad were both full of flavor and beautifully presented. Our entrees of Grouper and Filet Mignon were masterful prepared and again, delicious. We really enjoyed the Fried Spinach side dish. This was fresh spinach flash cooked in the deep fryer resulting in a very lightly crunchy but tasty version of this vegetable. When we hesitated ordering it, our server told us we could get it in a 1/2 size order for $3 which was a perfect size for 2. The service was unhurried and very professional. We enjoyed our evening there and will dine there again next time we visit Myrtle Beach. read more

From the ambiance to the ridiculously awesome service I was awed. Our waiter Wayne knew his stuff and every suggestion was delicious. We came here on a Friday and they had a piano player. She had a very nice voice and the volume was perfect. Loud enough to enjoy but quiet enough where you could talk and here the other person. We both enjoyed specials that were perfectly cooked and tastes wonderful. Try the fried green tomatoes and have them add crab. Our waiter suggested this and wow what a great way to start the meal. While most tourist towns are strewn with overpriced culinary mediocrity, the Aspen Grille is a delight in every respect. Chef-Owner Curry Martin demonstrates passion in both his unique dishes and his excellent selection of wine. The fried green tomatoes topped with crab, pancetta, parmesan, and béarnaise sauce is an amazing example of marrying a southern classic with with influence. Simply YUMMY! Also, the Veal Aspen, one of the signature dishes, was prepared perfectly with amazingly delicious scallops, tender veal, delicious shrimp a perfectly complimentary sauce that gets better and better with every bite. Food was great service was great. This will be a must go to the next time in myrtle beach. The fried green tomatoes app is a must have. We were also lucky to have the pork fat sliders which the home made pickle gave that sandwich a taste bud party. The shrimp and grits were very tasty. Also the lamb porterhouse hit the spot but the potato gratin was out of this world. Finally the desert we ordered was the toasted pound cake and that sealed a perfect dinner. My wife and sister-in-law and I, went to dinner there tonight and just loved it! My wife had the surf and turf and I had the filet. It melted in your mouth! My sister-in-law had something that was like grouper , and she loved it. We ate salads before our main meal and were surprised at how fresh, and how large the salads were. And the dessert was beyond good! We had the special, a 10 layer chocolate cake with ice cream and whipped cream. The staff was so nice, from the greeter/hostess to our wonderful server,Dee. We ate at the bar and Skully is a knowledgeable bartender, knows the menu and guided us to fabulous meals 5 times. Chef-owner, Curry, has varied menu and he is very talented. Found this place on Yelp and sooooooo glad we did. Sat at one of the high tops in the bar area as we did not have a reservation and to be honest, it worked out for the best. On the table was a small bar menu with a sampling of appetizers/small plates. We didn't need to look any further. Each offering on the menu looked better than the next so what did we do? Ordered one of each - shrimp tacos, Black Angus sliders with caramelized onions and blue cheese, seared tuna, risotto with spinach and mushrooms, steak tips, and fried green tomatoes with crab. The food was outstanding. We were in heaven! The two bartenders were attentive, friendly and fun. And...my dirty martini had blue cheese stuffed olives - I'll say no more! read more

As an off season visitor there was plenty of opportunity for Aspen Grille to drop the ball. However, from the moment we entered the restaurant Aspen did not disappoint. The southern comfort atmosphere permeates the restaurant from the friendly staff to the soul satisfying food. I highly recommend the sea food dishes, and while fairly generic I sincerely mean the compliment. The catches are fresh and the preparation impeccable. This restaurant will not disappoint. Our first time vacationing in Myrtle Beach. DH & I were looking for a place to get a nice meal. We read all the reviews and felt the Aspen Grille was it. Not much to look at from the outside as it is part of a strip of stores. Yet you walk into a fine dining atmosphere that's tastefully decorated. You quickly forget about plain outside facade. We did not have reservations. Luckily they had a table to seat at us without much of a wait. Mark our waiter was very patient with us, attentive, fun personality, and just fantastic! We shared a bowl of the Lobster Bisque which was different than the normal cream bisque that we're used to. The Lobster Bisque was very good. DH ordered the Crab Stuffed Flounder with Cheddar Grits. He loved everything and left nothing on his plate. I had the Seared Scallops which were perfectly cooked & delicious. Driving by you wouldn't think to stop. We say - Stop & enjoy! read more

It was the second time we had dinner in this restaurant in the same week during our vacation in Myrtle Beach. It should have something worthy to attract us to come back. However, it became my nightmare that night! It was the birthday party for my family member that night. The reservation we got was a bit late @7:30. Most of us saved a good appetite for the dinner. However, the menu is short, we did not have much to choose from. Everyone in our table ordered 3 course meal, expect me. I had sick stomach:( That's what happened... The waiter was so rude!!! After I told him I need the soup only, he kept asking me "You don't have dinner tonight?" It made the whole table people silent for a while for the awkward situation. What's more...After the entree, it is the desert time. Everyone was brought a desert menu expect me. That waiter even did not look at me. I was totally ignored！！！ The funniest thing is he did not know I and my husband is who paid the bill that night. What would you do if you were me? After a second thought, it was someone's birthday, I didn't want to ruin it. I gave him the tip 15%. I will be probably not going back to Myrtle Beach next year, but I will always remember this restaurant. read more

Best food I've had in Myrtle Beach and even on a Wed night they had live music. Drove around to some other restaurants that had 4-5 star reviews and their parking lots were empty and a bit sketchy. Drove to Aspen and the parking lot was packed with taxi cabs lined up waiting for people. There was a clear reason for this. Service and food was the best I've had in a very long time. Atmosphere was worth wearing a collared shirt, but wasn't overly stuffy at all. Prices were $25-35 per entree, but it was worth it. I suspect that the restaurant has a professional chef (the kind that went to school to actually be a chef, not someone who cooked food for a long time and calls themselves a chef). Next time I'm in Myrtle Beach I'll be coming back. read more

After searching Myrtle Beach for some locally owned restaurants, we stumbled upon this one. The waiter was excellent - very professional and chatty yet not hovering. The food was outstanding - lots of unique dishes with good, fresh flavor. We enjoyed some cocktails as well, which we ordered off the fresh-fruit martini list. They were tasty and poured right at the table. My only gripe (and that seems extreme to say that), was that my husband and I decided to split a bunch of appetizers and small plates, and it ended up being way too much food. We were just about full after bread, one app, and salads, so we had a lot to take home. And we didn't order dessert because that would have put us over! Overall, it was an excellent experience! Pretty sad for me - this was my third trip here and until this trip called this my favorite restaurant for a nice dinner in Myrtle beach. Maybe we were there on an off night - but found the service less than warm (the trainee did a better job than the official server). My scallops tasted off, I didn't finish the meal, and sure enough was sick later. Wine choices (admittedly by the glass) were also disappointing - I tried both Chardonnays and wouldn't go back to either - I guess try the other whites if you go there. I'll give you two stars because you've done a great job in the past - but aspen grill - what happened? read more

We decided on the Aspen Grill based on reviews I read on Yelp. Once again it paid off! We had a 7:00 reservation last Wednesday night. When we arrived there was only one other table seated and a few people at the bar. They had a live singer doing some classics at just the right volume, so it really added to the atmosphere. Our waitress, Dee, was very pleasant and knowledgeable on their menu and wine list. We started with the shrimp bisque soup and I had the shrimp risotto. My wife said the soup was good and my risotto was cooked perfectly. Three large grille shrimp were placed on the top of the bowl. The risotto had some sweet corn in it, which gave it a really good taste. For our entrée I had the NY strip with cheese grits, and she had the scallops risotto. The steak was a perfect medium rare. It was one of the best steaks I've had outside of the high end steakhouses in the city. The grits were the second best I've had. Sorry but none have beat the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta. Her scallops were a tad undercooked for her taste, but otherwise her dish was perfect. For dessert we split a piece of cake that was heavenly. Through the entire meal only one other table came in to be seated. Normally this would be strange, but we discovered early on that the week of thanksgiving is really dead in MB. My husband and I just enjoyed a relaxing and elegant dinner in Myrtle Beach at Aspen Grille. We wanted a nice dinner on Easter and found Aspen on Yelp. Our reservation was ready even though we Arrived early. The hostess seated us and explained the menus. Shortly our waiter Mark greeted us and the magic began! He was thorough in his description of specials and he was very knowledgeable about the wines. I ordered the fried green tomatoes which were some of he best I've had and my husband ordered the sirloin tips appetizer. They could have been a meal themselves and were flavorful and tender. We both chose fish dishes. I had the special of time fish which I ordered on an upgraded risotto at Mark's recommendation. Simply delicious! My husband requested a little twist on the menu sautéed flounder and Mark was bee accommodating and even offered a vegetable that was not on the menu. As sated as we were, we decided to have dessert! The blueberry bread pudding hit the spot! I would highly recommend Aspen Grille! The atmosphere is warm, the food was absolutely the best and the service topped it all off. read more

We are not even done eating, but we felt the need to write a review just to make sure you eat here!! This is, by far, the best meal we've ever had in Myrtle Beach. We've been coming here since 2006 and make it a point to eat out at a nice restaurant at least once every time we visit. So far, we've been disappointed in almost ever place we've tried. Many are good, but none are great. And then we found this place. OMG! The scallops and risotto, such a masterful combination. The surf and turf is melt in your mouth. And you have to try the apple martini. It is the best I've ever had. If you get the fried green tomatoes (and you should), add the crab. It works!! We just finished dinner and are about to order dessert. I may have to come back and update this review, since the waiter just said the bread pudding tonight is blueberry and is "the best you'll ever have." Why wait until next year to come back!! There's always tomorrow....which reminds me, reservations recommended. read more
