I've been eating at Assemble since its opening week and it's become my go to spot for lunch. My two favorites are the triple decker club and the Chick Pea Crepe + Soup. Went to Assemble for brunch. First visit: group of 2. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated fairly quickly inside. My best friend ordered the Eggs Hussard. She loved it and enjoyed the little melon salad that came on the side. I had the Cobb salad. I should note that I'm a bit picky about cobb salads; I hate it when it the greens come covered in gobs of bad blue cheese dressing. I was not disappointed with Assemble's take on the salad. The greens were dressed in a simple salad dressing. There were stripes of amazing tomatoes, blue cheese chunks, bacon, chicken, hard boiled eggs, and avocado. I ate the whole salad and I was stuffed; and HAPPY. Second visit: Made reservations through Open Table. Again seated quickly and did note that there seemed to be at least a few tables open. Boyfriend had the Hangtown Fry. The oysters were breaded which I haven't seen before with this dish but it wasn't a bad thing at all. I got one taste and that was it. The dish was devoured by boyfriend who informed me later that we WILL be coming back for dinner. Best friend #1 ordered the beignets and French Toast. Ok carb overload but so what. Both dishes got thumbs up. Seriously, she stopped talking so she could enjoy the yummy food before her. Best friend #2 ordered the Eggs Hussard. Consistent presentation of food from my last visit which I take as a good sign. She enjoyed her dish a lot. I ordered...the Cobb salad. I have a rule to try a dish at least a couple of times before really deciding if its worth going to restaurant for. I wasn't disappointed. This time, yellow tomatoes which are a little sweeter than the red tomatoes. Regardless, the salad was filling and delicious. We shared the boiled peanuts. This is a favorite from spending time in the south US and in Hawaii so I'm happy to see this dish making a showing here in CA. I completely enjoyed this little treat and would likely order it with a beer or two the next time. Cocktails included a Pimms cup for me and Bloody Mary's for two others at the table. The bloody mary's looked delicious but I just can't do tomato juice. One sip and I was done. But the two who ordered them both said they were really good. The Pimms cup was tasty and was refreshing. OTHER NOTES: Don't know what the dinner crowd here is like but I would suggest that if you are coming with a group of 4 or more, definitely make reservations through Open Table. You might have to wait a little bit if you don't have them. Service was pretty good both times. We loved Joseph who was our waiter this last Sunday. We had the clams and muscles which were very good but a bit spicy. Then we ordered the chicken pot pie which was not that good. Very spicy for being a pot pie. I ordered the sliders which were very buttery or greasy and it came with a cold mushroom salad which was just okay. The fries were lukewarm. We had brunch at 11:30am. To Whom It May Concern: If you go to Rosie the Riveter's Museum bring your own lunch in your cooler. I was at Assemble for the first time today and had a bad experience. I have severe food sensitivities and couldn't order anything on the menu. I always bring my own food in case that happens. I was not allowed to eat my food there. And the waitress was very rude. No excuse for treating customers rudely. We asked to see the manager and she never sent the manager. Also my husband and cousin who was with me did not get the food they ordered. They messed up the order and the fries were cold. My husband and I will not ever go to your restaurant again. Next time we go to Rosie's we will pack our own lunch! P S The online menu for Assemble is out of date. The menu we saw today was not the same. Still nothing for me to order. Location Location Location! Located on in the old Ford automobile assembly plant on the point of Point Richmond the view is amazing. You can see both the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges. The food and atmosphere are great too. They have a great selection of draft beers and starters which is always good thing. As far as entrees go they are know for their pot pic which had a delicious crust and was just the right size. But the one thing you have to try is their Firto Nachos served and eaten straight from the bag! read more

Hard place to find, yet it's a beautiful place on the water. Nice service, waiter was doing a million things but was a very nice guy. Other than that here's the low down Frito Pie was great but over priced Piña Colada, which I order once in a blue moon was was too strong How do you not carry ranch? Tri Tip Sandwhich was okay at best Fish and Chips were claimed as worlds best but way too bland. The misses enjoyed the mudslide cake and I thought pear crumble was okay at best I just wasn't impressed with the food and menu and really over priced. I've been to this restaurant several times and they were all great experiences.... Until today. On this particular lunch date with my best friend for her birthday the service sucked the food was mediocre at best. Upon our arrival it was clear the restaurant was busy which is usually a good sign. The problem for me is that no less than four employees walked by us without acknowledging our presence. We weren't greeted no smile NOTHING, however when a large party enters they we given the appropriate treatment. Once we were acknowledged we were asked if we were waiting on a table ... Umm yes that's why we're standing by the "please wait to be seated" sign. I'm really disappointed in the service today that everyone was off their game.... To bad I won't be back to see. I'll only be ignored, and treated like my money doesn't matter once, if you don't want it I'll gladly keep my hard earned coins in my pocket! read more

Started with the brussels sprouts, they were tastefully flavored. Then we ordered the grilled prawns in the butter sauce which were charred to perfection. We ended up splitting the Assemble Italian sandwich with fries and loved every bite! I'm not sure why I decided to come back a third time after two disappointing experiences. I won't be back for a fourth. The food is a constant disappointment, lacking flavor and quality. The service is sub par. The prices are frustrating, especially once you've eaten your sad, disappointing food. The Chicken and waffles came with a few tiny, thin, dry, and flavorless chicken strips alongside a waffle that could have come from a hotel serve yourself buffet line. Avoid the housemade sausage. It comes in tiny little oddly-flavored patties rather than a casing. The available fruit was pineapple, dragonfruit, and kiwi. That's it?! What is the most sad part of this restaurant is it's wonderful location right along the bay trail. It would be so nice to walk or bike to a place along the trail with quality food, but this is not the place. Stay away, unless you are just coming for the Mountain Hardwear Employee store passes.. July 17th - came for the mountain hardwear passes and figured I'd order food to avoid the awkwardness of asking how little I can buy to get the passes. The fried chicken was very small. The bacon was forgotten on the Cobb salad, which was also way over dressed. The service was mediocre. I really hate this place. read more

I work right around here so I often ate at the Boilerhouse (the previous restaurant at the same location) and was so often disappointed by inconsistent quality. I AM SO STOKED ABOUT THE CHANGE! I finally feel like there is a place I can go most every day for lunch and find something healthy, reasonably priced and tasty. The other day I ordered the tuna melt on a homemade English muffin. The tuna was perfectly moist and flavorful (detected a hint of Jalapeno) and the English muffin was so incredibly fresh and just the right amount of chewy. I often go with a big salad for lunch so was happy to see that Assemble kept the same large portions as the BH. The Chef salad is generously portioned and full of deliciousness. I've tried a couple of the desserts and have been blown away. Chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream...yum! Also, something that is incredibly important to me, the coffee is great. Enough about the food, the service has improved immensely. Whereas at the BH it wasn't clear if you were going to be served or had to order at the counter, at Assemble you are greeted immediately by someone who seats you and are quickly approached by your server. Each server I've met has been very professional and polite. Always with good recommendations from the menu. The changes to the interior are awesome. Gone are the clanky metal chairs in favor of some nice wood ones which are incredibly comfortable. The new bar they built is beautiful and looks out over the water. The whole place feels much more open and peaceful (without all the clanking). So happy about the change and I can't wait to try more things on the menu! read more

This was the first time going to Assemble and I made reservations on Yelp, which was really helpful! The menu was a good brunch mix and the biscuits and gravy caught my eye. My guy ordered the chicken and waffles, which was a little underwhelming (more like chicken strips and a waffle) and he kept eyeing the burger across the way. Overall, the service was quick and friendly, but our server seemed to not really want to be there and she forgot to put in my order of beignets. Great experience, but wish I had the beignets and also wish the server actually wanted to be there. read more

(Caveat: I did review other's Yelp comments before eating there, so perhaps my impressions are a little modified from what they might otherwise have been.) First, I liked it. I found the food to be subtle and focused upon the ingredient flavors, rather than overwhelming spices. I had the chicken pot pie, which had an excellent flaky crust filled with fresh vegetables, and came without a rich sauce that may have masked the inherent flavor. For example, the baby carrots were very good and distinctly different from the mature ones chopped up inside. I also enjoyed the riblet appetizers beforehand, which had I think a molasses and bourbon sauce--again with some reserve. Finally, I additionally tried the macaroni and cheese, which tended toward the lighter side (if that exists) with a blend of white cheeses mixed with pasta. It was not too salty or artificially yellow/factory cheese that we have become used to. The service was professional and unobtrusive, and every need was met with quiet competence. The Paloma cocktail was excellently prepared as well. Pricing was a little stiff, FYI, but the value was there. Overall, I found the entire experience to be understated but good. I have grown weary of in-your-face flavors and showtime staff; this occasion was a welcome relief. We invaded Assemble today at 1:30 with 5 adults and 2 babies. Overall it was a great experience. The Cocktails were tasty and innovative. For the mom of the group, they had multiple creative non-alcoholic options. Our food was fun and tasty. Desserts were fantastic. They presented the two 1-year olds with a composed meatball sandwich plate of bread, cheese, and meat balls for their eating. Oh and TWO highchairs! That is a score. I'm writing an update to my earlier review of Assemble. Great location over looking the Bay, nice owners, perfect to stop by for a drink after a bike ride on the Bay Trail. The food has become mediocre with a very limited menu. Good appetizers, drinks but dinner is limited. I liked their old menu much better. They have also cut their hours back. I latest experience was absurd and needs to be changed if Assemble wants to remain customer friendly and a stop over fit visitors of the museum and cyclists. There is an outside patio that has communal seating. 2 long wooden tables and 3 comfortable seating arrangements with seating for 4 people. Most of the time I've only seen two people sitting there with 2 empty seats. I came off the Bay Trail, stoping by for a beer, I asked a couple whom I did not know if they minded if i sat there. They said sure and we had a great conversation then my husband joined us for a drink. The waitress would not split the bill even though we were separate parties. Other people on the patio also though this was absurd. This policy works also mean that anyone sitting on the communal tables also would have to split the bill. I can understand not splitting the check inside but outside on the patio- Ridiculous!!! Unfortunately, the owners were not there to complain to. The waitress/ manager was rude about it and our waitress told us she is only 21 years old to give her a break! Huh??? Bring 21 is an excuse for being rude to a patron in the hospitality industry?? Bottom line-don't sit with anyone you don't know on the patio!!! read more

Enjoyed this place on a very cold and misty day. After we toured the nearby Rosie the Riveter Museum we came here to warm up. Enjoyed the shrimp, fries, and virgin marys. I especially enjoyed the decor with the holiday lights. Service was ok; prices a tad high but all in all a good experience was had by all. I will be back. read more

Drinks - Great. Service - Great. Bay Area standard usually require fresh, tasty food. I don't think they got the memo. I had a burger, came with a small green salad. It was okay but overcooked. I could have gotten a more substantial and cooked to order from Barney's for less than $12. A friend had steak, spinach and okra. The okra was battered, frozen and fried. The steak was so chewy (tried it myself) that I could easily have chewed until next month if I wanted to eat all of it. They took her meal off the bill, but that's not the issue. I went here with my mother and a few friends on Mother's Day, and enjoyed it very much. Very interesting space (in a building which housed a Ford assembly plant way back when), nice staff, very good food. The restaurant is right across from the Rosie the Riveter/WW II Home Front museum (that's how we ended up at the restaurant), which is well worth a visit. There are also nice walking/biking trials nearby along the waterfront, and lots of parking. read more

I couldn't find a reservation on OpenTable (and we kept calling and calling with no answer), so we just showed up right when they opened, and they were able to accommodate our table of 4. The place filled up pretty quickly, so I would recommend you come right when they open! Their fresh squeezed OJ is DELICIOUS - makes their mimosas and screwdrivers awesome. Their coffee is also pretty good (Mr. Espresso). I had their frito pie and a side of fries. I wish I had asked for them well done because they were pretty limp and pale. They could've used some crunch! Husband had the assemble plate with bacon, eggs, sourdough, and home fries. He ate every bite! I wish they had given more sourdough - I didn't get a chance to steal any of it! Our friends had the bacon and spinach plate and they enjoyed it. Wish they had beignets (they sadly didn't have available), and the atmosphere was pretty cool! I'm a fan. What a great find! The best part of this cafe, and really what sets it apart from any other pretty good Bay Area brunch spot, is the physical space itself. Beautiful view, lovely windows and tons of light, awesome open interior with all the fixings of the old "boiler room." The food was good. Philly cheesesteak and cappuccino. Pot pies looked great. I've been going here for a long time, but I doubt that I'll go back. The menu has changed and gotten pricier. I had a new menu item, the Chicken and Grilled Peach Salad. Not worth the $17 or $18 dollars. Bland skinless and boneless chicken, lots of spinach, nuts and cheese. The dressing was decent, but definitely not a memorable dish. Discovered this place by accident while cycling on the Bay Trail. What a happy accident! A few days later we went for Sunday brunch and sat outside in the bright sunshine with a beautiful view of San Francisco Bay. I had the smokey bacon scramble, which was served with some home fried potatoes. Delicious! This is an ok place for brunch, but it's quite overpriced. Given the price-point, I expected more. They could not accommodate gluten free restrictions. (Note to restaurant - get some gluten free bread, please.) We ordered some fries for our baby. We specified that they were for the baby. The waitress didn't bother to let us know that my sandwich comes with fries. The extra fries were $8. My son barely put a dent in them. The service was just ok. We went for a dinner date night, which is rare with a new baby. Levi was our bartender and server. to keep it short and sweet, he made the experience amazing! He whipped up a specialty drink with fresh muddled blueberries, vodka, and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice amongst other things, it was delicious. We had the clams and mussel appetizer which, was delicious, although I would have love a larger portion. He allowed up to try the peanut, which had great flavor. I had the trout and my boyfriend had the sliders, both were to die for. Very well prepared and the flavor profile on each was unbelievable. I later had the El Diablo cocktail, which again with fresh ingredients was delish! We ended the night with Key Lime Pie.....I have had many Key Lime Pies in my life and it is the one desert that truly enjoy whenever I can. This was hands down the best Key Lime Pie I have ever had. I ended up pulling the manager over to compliment him on the experience and he shared information about the history of the restaurant, the chefs, and the pastry chef. All around a great night.
