I had a horrible experience from the very beginning. The access code that I was given was completely wrong. They gave me 3 different codes. The keys on the locks were not the right one. The doors were always getting stuck because they were coming off the tracks or just jammed altogether. A box of ours got destroyed because water leaked on the inside. I needed a small unit and they had good pricing and let me pick from available spaces. There is a dumpster, recycling bin and also a donation bin on the premises which is helpful for sorting trash and donations, which many other places don't offer. read more

I've been renting from Associated for more years than I can remember. It may not be the newest facility, but who cares?? I love that all units are on the ground floor, and most are drive up, which makes it super convenient. The location is great, easy access from the freeway. The staff is VERY nice and work to accommodate your needs. Great place. read more

I have been using them for over 10yrs and other than a break in over 7 years ago I have never had a problem. I switched my locks over then to ones that people can't break into that they suggested, best tip ever! They are great at sending email and calling you when your payment is due thus eliminating excess charges! read more

We have been a customer of Associated Storage at Kearny Mesa since we moved to San Diego 14 years ago. Their facility is clean and well maintained. The rent is reasonable and when it increases, it is a very small amount. They are always at the office to help and have multiple ways to pay the bill (credit card, automatic payment or check in the office). Great job! read more

This is a well-maintained facility, and the staff are competent and helpful (now they are anyway, now that the snarky young women from a few years ago aren't there anymore). Clean bathroom, cold water in office. Easy access off of 163. I mean, that's all you really need for a storage facility. read more

I found Associated Storage last minute for my boyfriend who needed a Storage unit last minute & quickly. They had the absolute best prices and their storage unit was the most professional and clean we have used. The staff is all so friendly with great equipment to help. The unit I chose was perfect and overly large enough for my 1 bedroom apartment. I got a Free Uhaul and Helper ANGEL who was amazing at his job, I picked him and the truck up and he made what i thought was an all day job only take 3 hours, he was friendly and EXTREMELY helpful I couldn't be more pleased. He knew exactly how to pack up the truck and organize the unit. Couldn't be more happier with Associated Storage and will most definitely be referring them to any friends or family and fellow yelpers and using them again in any of my future moves! read more

Dampness and what appeared to be a wet floor in unit we rented caused 2 boxes of clothes and 1 box of books to get moldy. The bottom of the boxes had deteriorated, unknown to me since I didn't check items once they were placed in unit several years ago, until we emptied the unit. I was told that the contract stipulates that Associated Storage is not responsible. Disappointing since staff have always been friendly and helpful. I suggest putting something that will not absorb wetness on floor to elevate whatever you're putting into storage, and keeping items away from "walls". read more

No bells or whistles here. This is the place you would want to rent if you want affordability & stability. No AC or elevators of any kind! Price is consistent. Staff are not personable, just strictly professional which is fine with me. They dont remember your unit number no matter how many times you have been there:( read more

If you've done your research you will notice that this facility is not the greatest as far as appreance. At first it sounds like they have the best prices ..RIGHT?? well a month before you end your half off special or whatever special they are offering at the time. They will send you a bill letting you know you will no longer get a discount and boost it up for $25-$35 more. Yes ...it's true!!! can you believe that. Don't recommend and I suggest you ask this question where ever you go, and read your contract before you sign!! read more

Centrally located at the 163 and Kearny Mesa Rd. I was very fortunate to discover this location and the great service that comes with it. This is not the newest or fanciest self-storage facility in San Diego, but it is one of my favorites. It is located very near the Clairemont Mesa Blvd exit off Hwy 163 and thus is easy to access from just about anywhere in town. There are also several motels, gas stations, and places to eat near by for anyone moving from out of town. All the storage units are ground floor, so no elevators or dollies are needed. Gate hours are 7am-7pm Monday through Friday, 8am-6pm on Saturday, and 9am-5pm on Sunday and the facility is closed on a few national holidays. The office is usually open an hour after until an hour before the gate hours. This is a place to come if you like an easy going staff who will work with you on cost, not require advance notice or extra payment before moving out, and pretty much just let you come and go and do whatever you want without cameras watching your every movement. There is often free candy available in the office. They do not provide a truck for move in, but do have packing materials available for sale. One thing to be aware of and check is that some of the units have some kind of white substance that seeps up from the floor - so it is best to not put cardboard boxes or anything else that could absorb moisture directly on the floor (since over time they get damaged). read more

All of the office staff is very friendly and helpful. My mom has used them for years and when I needed a unit of my own, they actually held one for me for a couple weeks. The unit was clean, there is a security gate that requires a pin for entry and exit, and the price was completely fair. Very happy with them! read more

Only used this place to drop off e-waste, and the process was simple and quick. The service at the desk was friendly and professional.

I had my padlock cut here and an item stolen. I was not contacted to say my padlock had been cut. When I went to my storage unit to put something in it, I noticed that the owner of Secure Self Storage had put one of their locks on my unit. When I asked them when they had put that lock on my unit they could not give me an answer. I'm not saying they had stolen something out of my unit but they sure did help hide whoever did. read more

I am new to Associated, Kearny Mesa location. Just rented a 9x12 last week. Everything good. Unit clean, easy access, you get to pick your own access code, service was fast and friendly. My only suggestion is to make the gate hours longer. Access closes at 7pm. During Summer hours they should expand that to at least 8pm, if not 9. read more

This storage facility is terrific. The women that were in the front office were great -- helpful, happy, and accommodating. The facility is one story -- yay!! -- with WIDE driveways that allowed space for vehicles to drive by as well as to park for unloading. Lights in the hallways were nice, and the doors opened in the right direction for moving items into the storage. Cleanliness and security top-notch! 4 stars because I've never rented a storage unit before and have no point of reference. But, these folks made it an easy, friendly experience. Can't imagine how it could be better. Clean, well maintained facility, and friendly staff with a sense of humor about all the paperwork. It is also very convenient to have a U-Haul store on the property for those extra supplies you need when moving. I can comfortably recommend them. read more
