Facility Negligence and Flood Damage: After only a week of renting, a pipe burst, causing a massive flood in my unit. Nearly all my belongings--including my television, mattress, magazines, notes, and a wooden-framed wedding photo--were soaked and had to be discarded. Instead of taking accountability, management tried to hide evidence by avoiding email communication and only using phone calls. They acted as if allowing me to transfer to another unit was a favor, while offering zero compensation for my destroyed property. 2. Additional Financial Burden: Due to this flood, my movers had to spend an extra 1.5 hours re-packing and moving my items. This cost me an additional $180 ($120/hour) out of pocket, not to mention the income I lost from missing work due to the delay. They also claimed they "offered" free boxes to help, which is a lie--no one mentioned this, and I had to pay the moving company for supplies myself. 3. Insurance Evasion: I paid for their insurance for May. When the flood occurred on May 28th, they refused to process my claim, forcing me to use my own policy despite the fact that I had already paid for theirs. They essentially took my money for coverage they refused to honor when I actually needed it. 4. Deceptive Billing and Predatory Price Hikes: Their pricing is a trap. I was promised a two-month 50% promotional discount, but they charged me the full amount for June anyway. Most outrageously, by the fifth month, they suddenly increased my rent from $152 to $220/month. I later spoke to an elderly tenant who also complained about being blindsided by these sudden, aggressive price hikes. Do not be fooled by their website prices. This company is unprofessional, unreliable, and predatory. Save yourself the stress and financial loss--look elsewhere for storage.

There are now rats everywhere and they go from storage unit to storage unit. Our property was nice and clean and rodent-free when we moved in. Now many pieces of furniture and clothing have been destroyed. The rats even dragged in bits of plastic and material from other nearby units because the individual units are not sealed. Terrible! We are out of there now.

At the start, my mom briefly parked in an area we didn't realize was not allowed. Instead of calmly explaining or directing us, the woman who sits in a chair right as you enter the facility? who referred to herself as "the enforcer" , immediately began verbally harassing my mom. She raised her voice and made comments such as, "You need to move your car! You can't park there. I don't know why you think you could -- you're so privileged." These remarks were completely inappropriate and unnecessary. My mom was polite and immediately went to move her car. Even after that, the employee continued ranting. When I calmly stepped in and said that my mom was already moving the car and we were just trying to figure out where to park, the employee redirected her aggression toward me, telling me "no one asked you" and making additional rude remarks. We moved the car and parked around the corner, but the situation didn't end there. The employee continued loudly talking to herself about us while new customers were walking in and witnessing this behavior. At one point, she even walked around the corner and stood watching us load our belongings, which felt intrusive and intimidating rather than professional. Throughout all of this, management was present, saw what was happening, and did nothing to de-escalate or correct the behavior. We were respectful, calm, and cooperative the entire time. This was a simple parking misunderstanding that could have been handled with basic professionalism. Instead, it turned into an uncomfortable and stressful experience during an already difficult moving process. I would not recommend this location based on how customers are treated, and I hope management seriously reevaluates staff conduct and training.

I googled RV storage near me and started going down the list. After calling seven or eight places I started to loose hope. Kathy was the person that answered the phone and was incredibly kind, happy and eager to help. All the necessary documents were handled via email and within 20 minutes of calling we had secured a spot. The storage facility was easy to access and get in and out of even with our gigantic rig. If we ever need RV storage again we will definitely return to Scripps Mesa Storage.
