Frequent customers when it was Astoria Provisions and before it rebranded as Cafe Luna. The menu is the same from when it was Astoria Provisions, except some of the specialty coffees seem to be gone. Understaffed and chaotic service. Had to cancel our to go order as it was taking too long (30+ minutes) and our daughter and dog were going stir crazy. Also observed a table who ordered after us, who initially received the wrong meal and then had to go back to ask for the correct meal because that was also taking too long. Ate outside as I had my dog with me hence the side of bacon in one of the pictures but the tables were a bit dirty and clustered this restaurant is a bit far from the rest of Astoria tucked away in more of the residential area but it's so worth it .The food was delicious I recommend the kale salad but would skip the elote fries would come back again and order more ! read more

Amazing experience! This might be my new fav lunch/breakfast restaurant. Cute place, great service, many options for beverage and food and decent prices. No reservations needed. We were seated right away. I came here on a Friday for lunch around 1 and was pretty empty which was nice. The server was very attentive and brought water right away and took drink orders. Was nice enough to give rec based on his favorites and he did not steer me wrong. I ordered the gingerbread latter and chorizo potato egg hash. Both items were amazing! Great flavors I've never really had before. Nice potions and presentation for both items. The decor is a plus and the pricing was decent for all the food you get. I only ate half. I usually really enjoy my orders from Astoria Provisions but I recently ordered the chorizo baked hash from Seamless and it turned out to be freakishly spicy, which would be fine except that it is not labeled in any way and I am kinda dying rn For reference, I can eat anything (including chorizo-based dishes) from many of Astoria's Mexican restaurants, as long as it doesn't have the word "spicy" in the name or a pepper icon. A pretty standard brunch spot in Astoria. There's a good mixture of sweet and savory options, so there's something for everyone here. Unfortunately the AC was broken when we visited. The server was kind enough to move us to a table in the back once there was space, which was a little cooler. I ordered the hot honey chicken biscuit and I thought it was a little dry for my liking (even with the honey). The chicken was pounded a little too thin, so it didn't retain any moisture after it was fried. I wouldn't get this again. I also ordered the coconut latte and that was pretty good. We visited Astoria Provisions on a Saturday a few hours before closing. We order a Classic BLT and the Nutella French Toast. The BLT was ok, but the Nutella French Toast was absolutely delicious. Astoria Provisions has been around 10 or so years and offers hot comfort food on a cold day, they are packed at weekends with almost every table taken so we had to find a space at the back. They don't have a print menu, so we had to use our cameras to read QR codes. Many restaurants think this is clever or cheap way that you don't have to provide a menu. This has always been a big negative for me. But on a freezing day I can give them a pass. Our waitress did not know what an everything bagel was which was a little surprising. It came with different (but good!) bread, without mention. The 'cheddar biscuit' is a standard plain side biscuit cut in half with melted cheddar cheese inside, was okay. But recently, due to many library closures, I took my son to the library on Astoria Blvd and 21st and 14th street and remembered this place was here, right across the street! I like the whole idea of this no contact -contact if it's absolutely necessary and as an alternative in some food establishments but not in restaurants. The online menu was good for ordering but it wouldn't let me checkout and both ordering and payment process have to be done before your meal gets to your table. Looking for help we finally made eye contact with the only waitress who kindly came to help us. This place only has one bathroom that you can't miss because it's in the middle of the restaurant and it gets busy so you might want to get up and wait outside of the WC, awkward I know. Having eye contact with the person behind the bar wasn't easy since he was also alone. I really like our meals but I wish the restaurant has more waiters and waitresses working especially during Brunch hours. I even asked her to check on my oj and she did not check the order at all. It was very rude and we felt like we were treated bad. They had to rush our food, thank you to the bartender, and now we are sick and had to cancel the rest of our plans from our stomachs hurting. She did not apologize at all and just ignored us more. They are understaffed for a Saturday I felt. However even tough I am a cheese lover and a béchamel enthusiast I can safely say that finally I found my match here, this was way too much cheese, so much that I was not even able to realise the flavour of anything else, the truffle flavour was faint and very much masked by all the sauce, the bread was ok but way too fried and the panko it gt pretty hard pretty quick, as it was so cooked. The panko did not need to be there, it does hurt me a lot to say this, but, the béchamel is way too much, they can cut back a little bit so the truffle flavour can shine through..... yes, this dish has plenty of potential is these changes are made for sure. The great part about this dish is that it is listed as a appetiser but the serving is great for a meal. Overall I cannot say f the meal would have been different if proper plates were used, but I will come back eventually to update this review. Astoria Provisions' website over promises and the restaurant itself under delivers. Nothing is terribly bad, but nothing is very good either, which is a shame. The potential is there, if only someone decided to care just a little bit more. The large windows are inviting and the place is filled with light during the day, but any sense of ambiance is killed by the fact that the TV is on with the volume audible and music is playing at the same time. There are no paper menus, but a QR code found on table tents takes guests to an order page for online orders and not a menu. The one server there seemed just as frustrated by this. An individual bottle of water is often a nice touch, but the one set down in front of me beside a comically small water glass was grimy on the outside with visible finger prints as though it had not been run through the dish machine after its last use. The food was mediocre; a grilled cheese sandwich whose bread was dry from being toasted open face and then pushed together rather than being prepared in a pan, the accompanying tomato soup, overly salty. The grilled cheese would have greatly benefited from being cooked in a pan with butter, the soup would have been more enjoyable had it been properly seasoned and puréed until smooth, or had more intentional tomato chunks rather than bits of tomato skin, onion, and herbs. The inexplicable salad that also came with the soup and grilled cheese had a decent dressing, but the lettuce had not been dried properly after being washed creating a pool of water on the plate and preventing the dressing from adhering to the lettuce and shaved carrots. The most disappointing part of the meal were the diced tomato in the salad, which were spoiled. Improving things would not take any additional money, just some effort and care. For a spot that proudly states on their website that they are owned and ostensibly operated by a Michelin starred chef, one could and should expect much better. read more
