    The txt I received 13 minutes after unnamed employee swapped out defective eSIM card

    Today, at this CdM AT&T store I was "slammed" with the "HomeTech Protection Plan" without my consent? We received a txt, 13 minutes after swapping out a defective eSIM card, that the plan had been added for $25 monthly! They never asked or mentioned an insurance plan for home devices? Isn't this illegal?

    Incorrect store hours.

    Where do I begin? First of all, DO NOT waste your time here. AT&T corporate should be clear that the customer service in this location is far below what I would expect of corporate standards at an authorized retailer. EPIC CUSTOMER SERVICE FAILURE. 1) I showed up today at 10am after checking the store hours on Yelp which state a 10am opening. Apparently, the store opens at 11am. I waited because I was in the market for a new iPhone 14 Pro Max. I have been a loyal AT&T customer for over two decades. 2) While I was waiting I called the store to see if hours where available by phone. They were not. I tried to make a one-on-one private appointment as suggested on the voice recording, and I found that the website was not secure and blocked by my AT&T mobile security. Another problem. I have already suggested the edit on Yelp. 3) At just minutes before 11am, I opened the door and entered because I saw the employee was seated at the desk. There were no store hours posted, so I thought maybe she was late to open. She quickly and curtly informed me they were closed. Just a suggestion, you might consider keeping the door locked until opening so as not to confuse customers who are able to enter. I waited outside the door for 3 minutes while I waited for her to allow me to enter. 4) She opened the door without a greeting or an apology. She was exceptionally rude and simply asked what she could do for me. Isn't it just common courtesy to greet your first customer of the day let alone a best business practice? 5) I could see that she was uninterested in making a sale let alone a customer connection of any type when she quickly SWIPED THE NAME BADGE OFF OF HER SHIRT and held it under the counter!!!! Are you serious??? I asked for her name multiple times, and she vehemently refused to give it to me. She was the only employee in the store, so it won't be too hard for management to determine who opened on Sunday, April 2. 6) I let her know that her store hours in Yelp were incorrect, and she said it wasn't her fault followed by the smart remark, "Show me." WHAT?! I mean this is a phone store, she should have been able to pull out her own phone to check it if she needed verification. More importantly, she should have simply acknowledged the error and apologized. Again, this is shocking unprofessional customer service on display. Although I have never personally seen AT&T's onboarding manual, but this employee missed customer service and sales page 1 best business practices. 7) Since she was not going to help me, I asked for the name of her manager. Initially, she would not give that name to me and told me that I could call her at the store in the morning. This is not a conversation I want to have over the phone. She reluctantly gave me Brenda's name. Brenda has helped me in the past was very helpful, very courteous and very interested in my business. 8) I told this unnamed employee that I was interested in purchasing a new phone. She proceeded to tell me she couldn't sell me a anything because she was locked out of the safe. After realizing that I was getting nowhere with this unnamed employee who clearly knew she was in the wrong, I went to a corporate AT&T store to get the help I needed. The service at the 17th Street location in Costa Mesa was exceptional. 9) Camila was the employee.

    An absolutely horrible store with uniformed staff. Avoid if you can. Went to Best Buy to get and new phone and update my AT&T account.

I was a bit hesitant at first because the cost seemed high, but I agreed to it. After getting my phone fixed here, there were so many things that went wrong: 1. The brightness was set at max at all times, even when I tried to turn it down 2. My phone began dying at 30% and couldn't hold a charge I took it back a month later to address the brightness issue. This was slightly fixed when he reseated the display, but still wouldn't dim as much as it normally should. This was within warranty so I was not charged for this service. I came back soon after (within 3 months) to get my battery fixed and they refused to help me replace it stating that I had no receipt (which they never provided at the time of transaction, but have my bank statement). They also said that I had to pay for a new battery if I wanted it to be replaced. Even with my inflated battery, I did not have the issue of it holding a charge or dying before it hit 5%. I am very unsatisfied with my service at this repair shop. I did not believe people when they said I should just get my phone fixed at Apple, but after this experience I will definitely not return.

Having some bad luck where I ran my phone into a fire hydrant the day before, my screen broke and I wanted to get it fixed. I called ahead of time and was told 3 pricing options based on 3 different screen qualities. I came in, settled on the mid tier screen and was told it would be 15 minutes, which was perfect since I was on a time crunch to get this fixed. Strangely the technician told me completely different pricing for the top tier screen than what I was told on the phone before I called - about $100 more. Strange, but since the mid tier screen was the same price, I didn't say much and just went with that. The technician removed my screen and then went into the back room to grab the screen and then told me "oh whoops, we don't have the screen you ordered." It might be delivered around noon, but I can either put your old broken screen back on or you can do the real expensive or the lowest tier screen. I inquired about the price of the top end screen since I was told a diff price on the phone and somehow magically oops - oh yeah, it is what they told you on the phone. At this point, do they even have different screens or do they just bait you? Are prices arbitrary?The trust was slowly eroding. Since I didn't trust them to put my broken screen back and not further break the phone (try putting a broken piece of glass back on without it cracking more), I begrudgingly told them to put on the "Apple" screen (is it really Apple or OEM?). After they were done, they had a discount posted to take some money off for a 5-star review. Seriously? They also had a sign that if you're not happy with your experience to let them know, so I opted to just be up front. I called the manager and explained the situation. He asked what I thought a good solution would be; I mentioned if they gave me "Apple" screen for the mid tier screen price, I thought it'd be fair considering that's the screen we originally agreed to, before the technician removed my screen without checking inventory. The manager baulked at my suggestion and said they'd be losing money that way. He ended up giving me a discount and said I didn't have to write a 5-star review... All in all, I thought it was a pretty poor customer service experience and since they seem to incentivize good reviews with discounts, I'd be weary of trusting the reviews for this place. The repair itself seems to be holding up fine--so all in all, I wouldn't necessarily steer clear, but just be weary and get your pricing in writing and make sure they don't remove your screen before checking inventory.
