I went to the Oakbrook Terrace, IL store to upgrade 2 devices on existing lines. Shawn created a new line of service on my account and added one of the new devices to that line without my knowledge or permission. Because the device was a pre-order, I did not find out until a week later. It took over 2 hours to have AT&T Customer Loyalty undo the FRAUDULENT changes Shawn made to my account. Read the other reviews, I'm not the first person he has pulled this SCAM on. Shawn, the LIAR and SCAMMER also added AT&T Next up to all of my lines without consent. This is a business account. I hate when things don't work. So when my wireless phone had a meltdown a couple of weeks ago- I knew I needed some professional help. Enter the pros at the AT&T store. First of all- I didn't realize that they had moved from their old location on Roosevelt- so know before you go that this is the only AT&T store in the Oak Brook area. Since the address is really no help (at least not to me) this location is on the north side of 22nd Street just east of Midwest Road (across the street from the Nordstrom Rack). There is plenty of free parking out in front and they even have spaces reserved for their customers as they share the lot with others in this small strip mall. As I pulled open the door- I was greeted by at least 3 people who asked what I needed and then sprang into action to get it. I was escorted to the back desk to see if there was anything on my SIM card that could be salvaged (there wasn't *drats!*) while another salesperson collected the accessories that I needed to go with my new phone. I was in and out in about 10 minutes with everything I needed and even had a warm "thanks" as I was walking out the door. Now that's my kind of shopping experience. Most of the time my cell phone works just fine. But when it doesn't- it's nice to know that these folks are close by to help me out. read more

I hate having to go here. I'll make this as short as I can; I cracked the screen on my phone. The nice guy there said order a new screen on ebay for about $20 to come back & he would put it on for me, otherwise it's $100+ for a repair place. So I ordered a new screen and brought it back. He took the phone and went in the back for about an hour. He came back with the new screen on it but the home and back buttons wouldn't light up (I have a galaxy). I left anyways. Well I thought it would be best to call 611 to tell them I had my phone repaired but still wasn't satisfied. The operator proceeded to tell me that the tech had voided my warranty and insurance because he wasn't authorized to take my phone apart. So basically I was SOL. I had to argue with the guy for 20 minutes and try to get a manager on the phone because they were telling me I shouldn't have let the tech fix my phone. Finally they said to bring it back there. When I went back a woman looked at my account and reprimanded me for calling 611 when I should have just came back to the store. I explained to her that I called 611 to let them know what happened so when I went back to the repair center they wouldn't think that I was responsible for the dim buttons. She acted like I had done something wrong. I'm sorry this is long and turning into a rant. Another time I brought a different phone into my local at&t retail store because it wasn't working right. They agreed and told me I should get a new phone & I could either wait 3-5 business days for them to order one or go straight to the repair center because they had one in stock. I chose to go get one. They had given me a form verifying that I should receive a new phone. The man at the counter looked at my paper and told me that it just wasn't possible for them to give me a new phone. The paper meant nothing they dont just "give new phones," at that point I just left because he was being rude which further aggrivated me after a 25 minute drive for no reason. read more

I have very high praise for the device support center, which has twice replaced my HTC One, which was having mild problems, within 2 months. The staff was very nice and helpful, which was unexpected, and provided all the support I needed very quickly. I was expecting a fight and instead got very professional service. Well done. The store also has a large and nice looking layout. It's a nice place to phone shop. Plus, there's comfy seating and a nice tv to watch in the separate support center while they're working on the phones. Or you can play with the new phones in the main store while waiting. Overall, I'm impressed. I'm no corporate fanboy usually, but I'll be sticking to AT&T after visiting this center. read more

It takes way too long to "be seen". This whole put your name on a list and wait that Apple and AT&T has going on seems to waste alot of time. They make it seem like you have an "appointment" and take longer than it does for an oil change. I like quick speedy service and I don't like to see 2 people standing around doing nothing but writing down names at the front of the store. Then 2 cashiers standing around doing nothing while they could be helping you. Efficiency is lacking and that bothers me. Though there are some friendly people there I avoid going here at all costs. I've stopped in here a few times in the past few months. I have two AT&T accounts, one personal and one for work. I picked up my new I-phone here a couple of months back and the service was great. They got me taken care of quickly with my new plan and helped me combine services for work and home. I traveled to Europe for work recently and my crackberry died (no kidding) just three hours before leaving for O'hare. It shut down to reboot and never woke up. RIP. Again, the AT&T store took care of me. I have a great company plan, but still, they hooked me up with a new blackberry Torch and I can't complain. .....well, I could always complain, but who would listen. read more

Went here to get my iPhone 4S on release date at 8am in the morning. Got there at 7am and was 16th person in line. I had my contract renewed, data plan added, and brand spanking new black iPhone 4S with the works (screen protector, rubber bumper, car charger) in my hand and out the door at 8:35 AM. It was a very organized and well staffed affair. They had like 15 people working there that morning and they managed the crowd well by only allowing the next customer into the store as soon as an associate had finished with the last customer and sent them on their merry way. While people were waiting outside, staff still came out to pass out pamphlets and bottled water and assure people they had plenty of phones in stock. Steve was great. He was able to successfully transfer all my contact info on the sim card on my old LG dinosaur phone into my new iPhone and installed the screen protector on for me. Yay, no smears and bubbles. Great service and I'll be back there again for the iPhone 5. read more

Went in for a new phone/plan. Was helped by Aaron Lupia who provided great service and attention. Aaron gave me his card to text/call if I have questions. I texted as I was still contemplating giving them my business, and Aaron responded promptly. AS SOON AS I SIGNED FOR THE PLAN, Aaron vanished. I texted a question re my new device; no response. I texted when I got the bill; no response. I texted three times following up with my last text politely stating how disappointed I am that the great customer service I received while shopping around vanished as soon as he got the sale. Every time I have been here I have been promptly help. They can and do get busy, but they take the time to help every customer fully. Wait times can sometimes be a bit long but well worth it for the level of customer service. I have never had a bad experience with them, and I've been there quite a few times. I had to come here 3 separate times to sort out my phone. I've never written a review before, but this entire store needs to be fired and re staffed. I was given totally false information about how to be added as a primary account holder, then when I did what that employee told me to do, they were no where to be found. Then I had the employee who actually made my insurance claim on my phone, and failed to inform me the claim wasn't complete until I filled out all these other steps, so I waited for my phone to come in the mail for days and ultimately had to end up coming back into the store for a third time. And then there was Jackie, whose name I actually remember because she was the most blatantly rude employee I've ever interacted with anywhere in my life. She flat out told me she was too busy, and walked away from me several times when I was requesting help. When I walked out of the store after using their phone, she just stared me down, no "did that work out for you?" "Bye thanks for coming in" - customer service skills 101. I don't typically take the time to share negative experiences online, however, this is the second time that I have tried to warn the public regarding this AT&T store/location. My family has our cell phones, cable, and internet service through AT&T, and we have been loyal and consistent customers for over 10 years. We became concerned as our internet speed has been slowing over the past several years, and our cable bill recently went up to more than $200.00 per month! We walked into the store with the expectation of having a customer service agent help us find a new promotion, discuss other internet options, and listen to our concerns and try to help. We walked into the store, which was COMPLETELY empty and were approached by a less than enthusiastic employee. We explained our situation and suggested starting with the employee providing us more information about our current DirecTV and internet plans. He was unable to log into our account (after we provided the passcode and answered security questions), he also maintained that he could not help with anything DirecTV related. When we questioned the validity of his comment, primarily because we signed up for DirecTV at that location a few years ago, the employee gave us a barrage of excuses including that he was a new employee and just starting working there. To top it off, he tells us that AT&T offers 1000 mbps internet speed, and then tells me that my area only allows for 45 mbps. I understand there are some limitations, however, how can Xfinity offer 200 mbps for a cheaper price? He continued to add that most of the homes in my location have fiber optic cable for the fastest internet, but he was unwilling to investigate further as to why my home is unavailable. The employee was completely uninterested in maintaining our business, and both he and another employee suggested we call customer service to cancel both of our services. Furthermore, the other employee appeared happy that we were planning to cancel our service, and stated "OK great, it's much easier to just cancel the service." Not only did neither employee even ATTEMPT to maintain our business, they were also some of the rudest and worst customer service representatives I have ever encountered. We immediately called on our own, cancelled all AT&T services, and set up a new plan with Comcast Xfinity. Beware of going to this store and trusting a word out of any employee's mouth. read more

Can't do 0 stars so this is it! I was an a t and t customer for the last 10 years and as you can tell from my past post regarding this company I am not a happy customer. I was having issues with my phone and I had brought it into the store once again to try and get some assistance. There was somebody working at the counter with the name of Joe who said he was the manager at that location. I figured things were going south as soon as I realized that Joe the manager could not figure out how to open my phone to get to the battery.. After he tried various things including a new sims card rebooting the phone wiping out all of my address book, his solution was to take me over to the showroom and have me buy a new phone. Without looking at my account. I have been paying for insurance he did not even bother to check if you could just simply get me a replacement phone. After that I walked out and I call the AT&T customer service line that turned into another fiasco! I told the customer service rep that the phone was not working properly her answer to my issue was that there were cell towers located five and seven miles away from my house that were causing the issue and that I should just wait for 3 or 4 days and it should come back on somebody will call me. I told her that this was my business phone and that I needed to get it up and running as soon as possible to which she replied to me well sir we are busy here and they will call you in a day or two. That was it I made the change I am now a T Mobile customer they have paid off my phone bill so we'll see how this goes good luck if you're going to use AT&T they have really gotten bad over the last year I used to be a pro AT&T customer saying that I don't have any issues with them that my phone works great that all changed. Hard to tell which is worse, AT&T's process for the simplest of retail exchanges, or the complete apathy of the employees working there. In fairness to the employees, if I had use that stupid tablet app and its pages and pages of inane procedures to sell someone a device, I would probably lose the will to live also. Make an appointment, would be my piece of advice to soften the blow that entering this location is sure to deliver to your morale. To AT&T, your procedures are so awful, that you are pushing customers to buy phones from ebay retailers for much cheaper, and just doing the setup themselves. So, I would focus on making phone sales less painful than buying a used car. To AT&T employees at the oakbrook location, I actually feel bad for you, but try to communicate with customers who walk in, just how horrible the process will be and try to make it easier on them. read more

AT&T is not offering anything for their longstanding customers. I have a Family Plan with 5 phones and have been with AT&T for 15 years. I recently went in to update our 5 phones. 3 phones are on the NEXT plan and 2 phones are not in contract. When I went into the store to update my phones I was told the $.99 5c phones with a contract would require a $25/line/month charge for any contract phones which also included a $40 upgrade fee. WHAT? They try to tell you you are getting a phone for $.99 yet you will pay over $600 for an outdated phone after 2 years! So they suggest the NEXT plan because there is no upgrade or monthly fee since you're not in contract. So you can pay the taxes upfront (about $60 in Illinois) then (one option) $32.50/month and after 12 months you turn your phone in and you start all over again. Sounds great...except that's $390/Year for a phone you don't get to keep. Not to mention if you lose the phone or it gets damaged/stolen you still have to pay full price for the phone, not just the 12 months. They will not take the phone back with any damage! Just a year ago AT&T offered $.99 phones with a 2 year contract with no monthly fee. They do not care about their customers! They want those phones back after a year so they can sell them as "refurbished" online after customers already paid $390 plus taxes. These new plans are a WIN WIN for AT&T and a LOSE LOSE for their customers. Better yet, the only way to justify their decision on the new plans was to say "all the wireless companies are going to these plans." Good job AT&T! You are a follower! Be a leader and offer better plans for your customers! read more

This store is terrible They do not know what they are doing, I tried to return a iPhone cord and they did not know how to do it. They were asking for my account password. Didn't ask for it when I bought the cord why would they wanted when I needed to return it. I asked for the manager and she knew less. The rest of the employees were sitting down and more interested in the football game then anything else. I returned the cord to a different ATT store. There are a large number of reps who once they leave the current customer they look like deer in headlights. The system of checking in initially put me at ease but after a while it seemed too complicated and removed the necessity for employees to greet or ask people if they need help. So I have been to 3 AT&T stores this week and an apple store, the first two were beyond a headache, employees didn't know what they were doing, kept refusing me from making purchases and didn't want to dig further into my situation, apple just wanted me in and out. Had to drag my dad with me to the third store because of the issues since he's the main person on the account. Was greeted by a very kind security lady went and sat down, greeted by a very kind check in person who listened to mine and my dads concerns, he did incorrectly add my name to the list (whatever Maggie can be confusing I guess) waited about ten minutes and same guy came back over, logged into the account, verified I was an authorized user (which both previous stores denied) listened to my problem, provided several answers and realized my phone was suspended (due to being stolen) immediately offered a new sim card for my new phone (later realized was not needed) and fixed my phone and account in a matter of minutes. read more

I honestly do not know where to start with this review because I have not had one decent encounter with this location or its associates. The nightmare began with Muhammad whose job was to process a trade in and start a new service for my husband and I. Not only did he complete a trade in for a phone that was not eligible, he lacked the knowledge about several promos and deals which were clearly outlined online (and he even at one point told me to screenshot it, in case we didn't get the discount applied, we could fight it...). After almost completing our service prior to understanding his mistake, he charged us for tax and a down payment on the phone. When we realized the mistake he made we decided to cancel everything (after being there over an hour). He told us we would be refunded within 48 hours. I waited 3 business days and still no refund. I went into the store and spoke to Jasmine, the manager who did not apologize once, and defended her employee saying he wouldn't have done this (even though I had a receipt to validate an ineligible trade in, and paid down payment). Come to find out the associate did not cancel the line, and therefore the downpayment would not be refunded until that was corrected. Jasmine then "fixed" it, and told me if the refund did not show up within 5-7 business days to call her and she would fix it day of with an immediate refund and I would not need to come into the store. After 7 business days I call to speak to Jasmine, who is conveniently on vacation for the next week. I spent hours waiting for the other manager Brian, to call and tell me "its a waiting game" and he couldn't do anything about it except pass it up to the District Manager...then putting me on hold and reading an email (he should've prepared with prior to the return phone call) that he could resolve it in store next day. I will be going in tomorrow to get my "immediate" refund. Wish me luck! Oh, and dont waste your time coming into this store. I wouldn't even recommend At&t as a service anymore (after over a decade of being with them). read more

I'm in a love hate relationship with AT&T in general. I'm sure everyone has that problem with their service providers. I do have to say the customer service with AT&T trumps T-Mobile IMO. I never pay cash for anything. I'm a debit girl all the way. Recently though I've had dolla dolla bills on me for some odd reason. Also, as lot of us know, times are tough. AT&T customer service was uber helpful and let me extend my bill and split my bill in half. How nice! Only problem was I had to go in the store to pay it because of the cash vs. debit dilemma. And in the past, AT&T has "accidentally" taken money out a day or two early. Thanks, jerks. Anyways, I went in to this AT&T store and told them I had to make a payment and they directed me to a payment kiosk in the back of the store. This would have been super simple had I been paying a normal bill but it didn't wanna work with me on the whole split bill payment negotiation I had goin on, so back to the guy at the counter. This guy redirected me to a man in the front of the store who "checked me in" and told me to wait for the next available service rep. At least they had a comfy little couch and a TV while I waited. Wait wasn't long, maybe a couple minutes and I was approached by the same guy I've now talked to threeeeee times. He wanted to take my payment, but didn't have change in his drawer and was asking why I didn't want to just put the extra cash into my account for the next bill. If I was able to do that, I probably wouldn't be in this split bill payment extension thing to begin with. I found it a little rude that he asked that in front of other customers. So he went on a man hunt to find a drawer with change and we had to switch. In the end, payment made, receipt given, phone still working. When I went in 2 weeks later to make another payment, I of course had to re-explain I had to make payment to a human being, not their kiosk. This is when the guy told me the kiosk will take any dollar amount. To which I re-informed him that I needed a human because of my situation. He sighed and looked uber put out that he had to walk to a register with me and take my payment. When he was done he didn't even say bye, or thanks, or have a nice day. In my best Michelle Tanner voice, " HOW RUDE!!" They did what they needed to do, but I think I'll check out the AT&T in Elmhurst next- unless I read any unhappy reviews on that one too! read more

The manager of this store Jose martinez is very helpful and customer oriented. I love this store as I feel that I am always taken care of and they are very helpful in addressing my needs. I would recommend this store to anyone. Their technical assistants know what they are doing and will address all your concerns very efficiently. Overall experience is awesome! read more
