I am so happy to have found "At Garden's Edge" on the day that my precious cat, Duchess, passed away in my home. I was told by my vet that I could drop her off after she passed at any emergency hospital and they would take care of the cremation, but this seemed so cold and clinical to me. I was very happy with the service Scott provided. I called him in the morning and he was at our home in a few hours to pick up our deceased pet. It was very painful event to go through and to transport our pet's body felt impossible during the wake of it all. He was very nice on the phone and in person. I rescued a stray cat that ive been feeding regularly at the gym parking lot every time i visit because i have a gym membership there. This cat has been living at the gym's parking lot's garden and in the bushes for several months since i saw her. But one day, I finally decided to bring her home after a hard thought because of the coyotes kept visiting the area besides the busy cars coming in and out of the parking lot. I was just worried about her safety that's why i made such decision. She was crying and freaking out when i put her inside my car but i tried to calm her down for several minutes before i drove home. Unfortunately, when i arrived home, she ran off to the street and got hit by a speeding car before my eyes. I held her with my two hands but i couldnt control her movement because she was moving vigorously and scared of the new environment that's why she ran off and got hit. I was in complete disbelief of happened, so I ran off to get her and held her and saw her last breath in my arms. The driver who hit her didnt even bother to stop. I couldnt stop crying and sobbing for days out of guilt because of the terror i witnessed. This cat would still be alive had i just left her at her habitat. Scott, the owner of the place "At Garden's Edge" was very helpful and very compassionate and he calmed me down from my deep sadness. He told me that my intention is pure and kind and i did the right thing to rescue the cat but accident happened beyond my control. We called this wonderful and kind service when our beloved Smokey passed away. They took care of everything even picking up our pet from home. I dealt with a Scott there and he was compassionate, thoughtful and loving when we needed it the most. Smokey was a family member, like most pets, for all his life. I had been calling for services from multiple organizations for two days when it looked like Smokey would need this. All were either not available or way too expensive and only was told that the Humane Society doesn't have a service in LA as the County has control over animal issues. When I called the nearest County service location, I was told they don't provide this service, but they farm out the pets to other companies. I was given two names to call. One, the number was disconnected; the other was closed on weekends. On top of all this their services were twice+ the charge that "at garden's edge" were charging and we had to take our pet to them. "AGE" comes to your home and offers multiple service packages/prices. On the phone and in person "AGE" personnel were very professional and caring of our pet and our feelings. It's odd to leave a review for this type of business but it's also a great idea because of the comfort you get knowing you're doing the right thing and that your beloved fur baby is in great hands. Nothing will take away the pain of going through a natural tragedy or one caused by a horrific accident. However when I lost my beloved Peabee (cat) to a hit and run, it was devastating. The person who hit her didn't bother to stop. When I got to her it was too late. I had lost her. I called animal clinics near me (El Monte) and no one seemed to care. One clinic I had been to before to euthanized a very sick kitty I had, was not as helpful as the first time. They seemed to not care, were not compassionate. I called and called several locations and nothing. I went on Yelp and found Garden's Edge. After reading the reviews I began to call. I didn't get through but right away the owner, Scott called me right back. He was so understanding and compassionate. Talked me through everything, scheduled a pick up time (which was convenient). Scott arrived shortly to pick up Peabee, we talked about how she was, playful and active kitty. He prayed for her, which gave me comfort. It was nice to know she wasn't just an animal. To be understood by another fellow animal lover of what it is to loose a fellow fur baby. After a couple of days, Scott came to bring Peabee back home. Scott and his wife had done a wonderful job taking care of her burial/cremation needs. Point being; Scott and his wife are very sweet compassionate people who understand what it is that you're going through. They don't see you as money/business type of relation. I had to put down my 14 year old lab-mix Bella in the middle of the night. I knew her time was coming, my vet told me Friday her liver was failing but "it wouldn't happen right away" but she started seizing in the middle of Sunday night and I knew I had to do it then. This wasn't how I wanted to do this, I had planned to have someone come to the house...I was devastated. Bella hated going to the vet. Afterwards, as I was leaving Echo Park Emergency they handled my about 5 pamphlets on pet cremation services. I leafed through them all Monday morning and liked the idea of a solitary cremation.
