Driving home from work my car decided to stop shifting properly and I had not idea what was going on. I quickly googled a repair shop nearby and prayed I would make it. It was after their business hours, so I dropped the keys through the door and hoped that this was a trustworthy shop. I received a call from them around 11am the next day and they helpfully explained what was going on and gave me a fair price for the repairs. I was back on the road later that day! I don't know much about cars so taking my vehicle to a shop I had no prior experience with was a little scary, but I absolutely hit the lottery finding this gem! My cat was veering to the left, and my tire would periodically lose air pressure. I came in, and they said hat my rear wheels were dinged up and dented which explained why I lost air pressure in my tires. They recommended I spend a small fortune on repairing the wheels at their buddy's shop up in etchison, MD down 108. I was skeptical, so I took a closer look at my car! Lo and behold I take a look at my car and overnight it had lost some air pressure, implying there may have been a tear in the tire itself causing air loss instead of a dented wheel. The mechanic was flabbergasted when I told him and almost went white in the face! I said ahah, if the car loses air overnight like this, then it's gotta just be a bad tire and not a bad wheel, right?! He was completely speechless. i was told to bring my car over at 7am on 11/20 to check if i needed front or back brakes this was a week before when i called. got over there at 7am although this is way out of my zone i am 78 yrs old and not use to this early but did it. told the guy why i was there and was told my another guy to come that early well evidently tim had a bad morning and took it out of me. he said they couldnt do that because the mechanic didnt get in till 8am i said fine willing to wait but no as he was on the computer basically ignoring me and wishing i would go he then said i can give you a quote ok. still waiting finally he went and looked at the car handed me a paper for about $1100 dollars and i left very upset that he treated me. maybe i am wrong but dont think so. so tim sorry your day wasnt going well but mine either please dont treat people like they are below you especially in this world and by the way i have had cars worked on by atco years ago no problem. it says on the review i am from san francisco ca i am from gaithersburg md read more

I needed my car inspected so that I could sell it. These guys are about 7 minutes from my house. Making an appointment was easy, and I only had to wait a few days. I dropped the car and waited for it - they said it would be an hour. So I took my little guys in their stroller and found that the sidewalk kept going heading south on 108. I walked for exactly 1/2 hour before it ended. Perfect. When I got back, the car had failed because of a crack on the fog light lens. Annoying, but par for the course for a MD inspection from what I hear. They quoted close to a couple hundred dollars to fix it, since a replacement lens was "not easy to find" for my 08 Vibe. Being a person who likes to research first, I said I'll let them know. They weren't at all pushy about it which was refreshing. I went home and found a pair of highly rated replacement parts, including bulbs, lenses and housings, plus all the electrical components (which we didn't even need) on amazon for $43. My husband installed them without much fuss. We took it back and they gave us our passing paperwork. I know that mechanics mark things up to make money, so I guess I can't fault them too much. I still liked the feel of the place, and it's nice to know there's a mechanic so close to me if I ever need something and can't get my car to our usual mechanic. read more

Super customer service--accident with horse trailer, needed a new rim and tire, so I thought. Called them and spoke with Murph, I was able to bring in my trailer that same day, the guys fixed everything and I was out the door in less than an hour. Bonus--charged me an extremely fair price. I've been going to Atco for the last four years, and I don't plan on going anywhere else. Everyone is super nice and I can TRUST them. They do a great job every time. They advise me of what I need to do and maintain my car. I had some car trouble in the past, and so I was forced to go somewhere near work a few years ago (The car was 24 years old and on its last leg). I called Atco to verify that what they were telling me was true and the prices were reasonable. The auto shop I went to was definitely trying to pull a fast one. I told them what my mechanic (Atco) said, and they "talked to their manager" and gave me a fair price. Atco didn't care that I had to get my car fixed there. They just wanted to make sure my car was safe to drive and fixed at a reasonable price. Who can say that about their mechanic?? I wish they were open on weekends, but I'm still willing to leave work early to get my oil changes and what not. They're super nice. They do get busy at times, but that's a good thing! They are also a little far from me, but again, I'm willing to drive there. I highly recommend this place. read more

It's been said that the true measure of an organization is how they handle problems. That said, ATCO tire--with Jim and his team there--have exceeded my expectations. I'd recently had a recurring problem with a set of tires I purchased just over a year ago. ATCO replaced them once already due to uneven wear and now they have replaced them yet a second time. It was obviously a manufacturing defect and it I'm sure there are many companies that would have not stood behind them or if they did replace them, would have prorated the cost of the tire replacement. But not ATCO! They stood behind their work and what could have been a really bad experience ended up being a positive experience. They are delightful to deal with and they've gone above and beyond in this situation and many others (last minute car care emergencies that they're worked me in for). They do the little things like dropping me back to my place of work so that the servicing of my car can be done while I'm at work and also following up when they say they will. Over the years I've dealt with them, they've built up a trust factor with regard to the quality work that they do as well as their ability to help me prioritize what needs to be done and what can wait until a future servicing. I'd highly recommend Jim and his team at ATCO for any work you need done (they are a full-service shop as well as a tire dealer). They provide quality service with a family-owned feel. read more

We have unbelievable luck with tires it's not even funny. We have tried so many places that I probably know more about tire service companies that at this point I could open up a shop myself. We found Jim from Atco tire a few weeks ago and I'm back again. He is a true professional and I felt like he was looking out for my best interest and not trying to sell me things I don't need. What really stood out was all the people that came in and they knew everyone on a first name basis. Small town America business at its best.
