Must have ordered the wrong thing. I see that the ratings are generally good but that was not my experience. We ordered 4 beef souvlaki on pita to take out. According to the menu the beff is marinated. In our case they must have missed that step. The beef did not taste of marinage or any spices. It taste like plain beef. Souvlaki without marinated or well seasoned meat is not worth the jaw power it takes to chew it. The serving was large but the pita was a bit stiff and not as fresh as we would have liked. The vegetables were fresh and correctly proportioned. The service was fast friendly and efficient and the price was fair at around 9 bucks. I rated this dining experience at a 3 but a little more attention to preparing the beef would have easily popped it to a 5. We are going to give this place one more try. I called at 8:45 to place an order. The website says they deliver until 9 and they are open until 10. I call to place an order and they say they can't. I ask, "can you accept a delivery order" and they say literally say "nope" with no apology or explanation. Make this more clear on your website. I order Gyros from here all the time, while at work. Green Haven, which is hard, we usually have about 8-10 separate orders being combined as one and Athenos does a great job of getting them all correct. The food is always super fresh and everything tastes great. Today I had an individual order and unfortunately my order was not as I desired....they immediately fixed it and were very apologetic about not getting it correct. I love this place . Amazing Greek food! Stopped by when we saw all the great yelp reviews on our way to Hudson. We ordered the mixed green salad. It came with their home made Greek dressing and we loved it. The spinach spanakopita was a yummy app to start. The octopus was amazingly tender- cut it with a fork like butter. The chicken gyro was huge and top notch. I loved the fresh tender chicken that came with tons of greens and of course the great tzatziki sauce. Get the cheesecake baklava! The cheesecake is made with Greek yogurt/cream cheese - nice and airy with a great contrast to the sweet baklava. The owner stopped by many times to ask how we were doing. Honestly the food is delicious and fresh, and the service was great. All around - amazing restaurant. Only complaint is that it is so far away from Manhattan where we live. Sometimes on the side of the road on a road trip you find a place to satisfy your hunger. Sometimes you find a real gem with delicious food, a nice atmosphere, great value, and impeccable service. Yuuuuum! We were so happy to stumble upon Athena which has a huge menu with traditional Greek/Mediterranean foods and boiled dandelions. Say what? I really wanted to try these especially because I constantly get teased I "eat grass", but I was the only one so it was a no go this visit. Someone please try these and let me know how they are! The fam loved the Greek salad with a creamy dressing versus the balsamic they're used to getting. It also had grape leaves in it. The meals come with a side Greek and it's HUGE!! Can easily feed three people so if you're thinking of just ordering the salad, spend just a few bucks more for a meal and you'll still get to taste quite a bit of salad too! Hummus app was delicious and served with cucumbers a bunch of warmed pita. Spanakopita was well liked and stuffed with spinach. 2 or 4 triangles to an order. Hubs enjoyed the gyro meat (beef and lamb) he asked for alone without the whole sammy for just $4. I was torn between the Vegetarian Pastitsi, the Vegetarian Moussaka and the Vegetarian Gemista which was peppers and tomato stuffed with brown rice and herbs with lemon roasted potatoes. Our kind, beautiful waitress suggested the latter and since those lemon potatoes I saw listed on the sides section of the menu had me intrigued I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did. It was so flavorful especially for such a simple dish! I really loved it! I want to try recreate it at home! The platter was big enough for two sittings! And again, came with the big Greek salad I was able to share with the whole table. Prices were reasonable. Portions were very generous. Lots of sharing at the tables all around the bright, clean Mediterranean decorated restaurant. I believe splitting dishes is the way to go here since there's so many tempting offerings. Was excited to get some Greek for take out after a hard day with my wife and so ordered and drove 20 min to pick up. Waited a few to grab my meal and when I got home items were missing from order and my wife's meal was incomplete. Called and they said they'd "make good next time" just mention the issue. Told them We would not be returning to their restaurant. Spent good money and looking forward to a good meal. I ordered online for pick up because we were driving with the kids asleep in the car and planned to take it to-go to feed them when we arrived at our destination an hour away. Unfortunately, our 1 year old and 2 year old woke up when we parked to get the food, so we decided to go in to eat instead. When we asked the hostess to be seated, the owner stepped forward and announced that he wouldn't allow someone who ordered for pick-up to sit down to eat. First, he explained that it was because the to-go containers would look bad at his tables. When I said we didn't mind eating on regular plates and would happily pay any additional service tip associated with sit down dining, he said that that would mean extra work for them. I offered to put the food on the plates, he said that they didn't want to have to throw away the take-away containers and that we'd have to go home to eat. I told him we didn't live nearby and my girls hadn't eaten dinner yet (by 8:30pm ET), because we had been traveling all day and they'd been napping in the car. He said that wasn't his problem, arguing that he doesn't know any restaurant that would allow people who ordered takeaway to eat in the restaurant. Honestly, I don't know any others that wouldn't. We hadn't done anything wrong. We had ordered and paid for our food and were just asking to sit down to eat that food. The whole thing was bizarre and rude. Additional context: We had been driving for 2 hours after coming off a 5 hour flight with two children under 3 years old. I can't believe anyone who owns a restaurant and prides themselves in good service and hospitality would treat customers that way, especially those with two young children in tow. read more

Found this gem on our road back to NYC after a long day of skiing at Mount Killington. The reviews were great, and after a long weekend of eating greasy fast food, we decided to end the trip with some healthy Greek food! All of our orders came with a nice sized salad to start us off. Just what we wanted, refreshing, delicious, and fresh. They have a unique sauce which we really adored. I had the pastitsio which was simply put scrumptious. The chicken on skewers was solid, and the chicken gyro was a little unorthodox, we were expecting shredded chicken. It was however good regardless. Only criticism, was the bread tasted a little cold and stale. But don't let that stop you from visiting this adorable spot, with amazing customer service. Probably the best Greek food in the area. As with most Greek food it is on the expensive side but you get a large portion and every aspect was delicious. The chicken gyro is sliced chicken and the grilled chicken breast is a chunk of marinated chicken. Both were delicious as was the rice and fries and pita and Greek salad. Ordering online was easy and the order was ready on time. The place is busy and every one seems happy so this place is doing something right. read more

Horrible experience. Ordered "grilled" calamari. Was assured it was grilled. Plus 5 more orders for over $100. Received the order, missed a small salad, tatziki sauce and the calamari was fried not grilled. Called back, the owner assured there was no missing salad, when it 100% was. Also, they asked to take back the fried calamari as well. This is a huge sanitation issue , along with just plain horrible customer service. The owner called me back twice just to argue again. I rarely leave reviews. It has to either knock my socks off or really disappoint me...and unfortunately this meal really disappointed me. It made me wonder if this is what people think Greek food is supposed to taste like? I ordered sword fish kabobs and literally spit out my first bite. It was hard and dry and so overcooked. Completely inedible. The dips were also really not good. The tzaziki tasted just like mayonnaise. I love to support local restaurants but this one needs a culinary makeover.
