Excellent service with all new heat pump installation. They were on time, there for two days, took out the old system, moved the new system to the side of our house and answered our very detailed questions over several months regarding the inner workings of a heat pump system. We waited for a new model and everything went smoothly. Very professional and knowledgeable. We also received a similar quote from Capps and it was very difficult to choose between them We also tried to get a quote from Hecox, Someone came and then they never gave me a quote despite my urgings. It's amateur-hour at Atlantic Coastal. Three days after a regular maintenance appointment, the AC drain pan overflowed. A different tech was dispatched and proceeded to tell us the thermostat was somehow to blame. That tech then ineptly rewired our compressor and told us the reversing valve was bad and that the overflow was because the whole AC unit was due for a $10k replacement. After a lot of frustration and worry, I decided to do my own work. I bought equipment to blow out the drain myself and sure enough, the first tech had managed to clog it, because once I did it myself, the system ran fine for the rest of the cooling season. Dry as a bone; not a single pan overflow. There was $10k saved. When it came time to switch to heat mode, the system wouldn't switch. Since I was told the reversing valve was bad, I thought that might be it. So I called a different company. Their tech took one look at the compressor and said "This is wired incorrectly, someone jumped your heat and ac lines together." The tech from a different company rewired it and the system entered heat mode with no issue. They say, don't attribute to malice that which can be attributed incompetence. So when one Atlantic Coastal tech clogs the drain line, then the second incorrectly rewires the compressor before telling me the whole system needs replacement... The nicest thing I can do is attribute it to incompetence. read more

I have purchased two HVAC systems from Atlantic Coastal. In my experiences with them, they don't stand by their products or their work; they are evasive when problems arise; and they have the most unprofessional office staff I have ever encountered. Both HVAC systems (top of the line models) have failed, one twice. The first time, the HVAC system (less than two years old) flooded the basement due to a faulty condensation pump. They sent out a tech, and denied the problem. They said the water had come up through a clogged floor drain and charged me for the visit. (Yes, there was a clogged floor drain, which contributed to the flooding by not allowing the water to drain; how the water was supposed to come FROM the clogged drain makes no sense.) My tenant and I had both watched the water drip from the HVAC unit. But they denied any responsibility. So two years later, it happened again. The condenser pump flooded the basement. I called the office. Terri, their office manager, first said that they had never been to the house and did not install the unit. I emailed her the receipt. She put me on hold, and then blamed their computer system. Their tech came out to fix it (about 3 hours later than was originally promised), charging $500 because the water pump is not covered under the 10-year warranty. The tech left all the water still on the floor. I called to ask if he could remove the water, because standing water can cause lots of damage. Terri said she'd ask and call me back. An hour and a half later, I called again. Terri said that it was their policy not to clean up damage; that they don't carry clean-up equipment on their trucks. I asked why she couldn't have told me that when I'd asked originally. She said she "doesn't ride in the trucks". I asked why--given the water problem--she didn't just call me back. She said she was very busy but was planning to call me by the end of the day (with a basement full of standing water). She then continued by saying that I should have them service the unit every six months so this wouldn't happen. This is what it's like every time I call their office. The other unit they installed also failed within two years. This time a heating sensor. Again, somehow this is not covered under the product's 10-year warranty. They said they'd come out for $800 to fix it. I cannot urge you strongly enough to avoid this company. After that first flooding incident, I switched over to another HVAC company for another install. They were so polite, competent, and responsive. It was a delight. Yes, Atlantic Coastal will install equipment, but then you're going to find yourself stuck in the situation I've described above. We had the misfortune of having to replace an entire ac / heating system during the summer AND COVID. Jamie had kept our 40+ year old system ticking as long as he could and could have probably kept it going longer, but it was time. We were to the point where our neighbors were complaining of noise because our old one was SO loud. Jamie gave me a VERY reasonable quote on a 2.5 ton Carrier system that has been life changing. To start, the installation was seamless. The crew was professional, safe and efficient. The system is amazing. Our house is COLD. The unit is quiet, so much so that now the neighbor who was complaining is paranoid that HIS is too loud! The best feature that has come out of this is my electric bill. We had this installed in May and have seen IMMEDIATE return. June electric bill was 170 this year vs last year 308 July electric bill was 279 this year vs last year 428 AMAZING!! To say I am appalled, confused, frustrated, and downright mad at this company, is quite the understatement. First, let me be honest and say that the workers are quite polite. I've never had an issue before except for a small part in 2021 where I think we were being overcharged (I think a lot of businesses were strapped for cash because they weren't the only ones we had an issue with), that aside, the workers and technicians are great! So, here is the issue: alarm in our archive room went off and I did the usual by calling to get a maintenance check since that's what we do every 2 years. The water in the pan gets full and it needs to get emptied. Spoke with Trish (sweetest lady) and made the appointment. The day before the scheduled service check, we got a call from the Office Manager, whose name I can't recall because I'm super upset right now, telling us they can't service us because they're not coming on our roof. I explained that the service call is not for any issue relating to the roof and she insisted that they're not servicing us. I was lost and confused but I pushed and pushed to understand why they're refusing to service us when this is NOT the issue we called about. Well, to the OM's insincere admittance, they're just not servicing us anymore and that's that! When asked why, that's all I got. They're just not servicing us anymore. What???? Clearly there's more to the story but we obviously have no clue as to why, which I think is so unprofessional and callous. I would love to rate this company more since the technicians we encountered were great, but I CANNOT and WILL NOT!!! Will that change anything for them? Who knows but this one thing I know, whatever one puts in, that's what they're going to get out. If they keep on this particular trend, no matter how good they are in one regard, the ugly will always show its head and spoil things. It never ceases to happen. I have used Atlantic Coastal Cooling and Heating for years. They have completed maintenance on my furnace and air conditioning units. What I love about them is that they are honest, they don't try to sell me unnecessary items or "create" repairs that aren't needed. Leonard was my favorite technician as he was super knowledgeable, competent, professional and took the time to explain what he did or if I needed something. Louis came out recently to do my fall/winter maintenance and he too was FABULOUS. He completed work on both of my furnaces and was able to solve an issue with one when the furnace wouldn't stay on. He stuck with it and stayed until he was sure everything was working perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend both Louis and Leonard. These men have been in the industry for 20+ years and know what they are doing. They are kind, professional, honest and "really good" guys. Atlantic Coastal came to install an additional system in my house. In doing so they picked up a problem with the existing system. They pointed it out without rubbishing the last company I'd retained, offered to fix it, did so for a very reasonable price, and because it was work that was not on the team schedule, the company president (literally) rolled up his sleeves and did it himself. This comes on top of the plain-English approach they took to talking about my needs and the operation of the system ("Hot air goes in there, cold air comes out there.") that attracted me to them in the first place, and that continued throughout the service. It was a refreshing change from the technical jargon I'd heard - and always found quite baffling - from other companies in the past. On the basis that you only really know something if you can teach it to others, I'd say these people really know their stuff. And I don't hesitate to recommend them. I don't usually write reviews. I called this company midday today to ask for someone to come out the same day to fix my AC unit. Within 4 hours of me calling, a technician was here. Another company I called couldn't schedule someone until Tuesday. The woman I spoke with to schedule the appointment, Trish, is a delight - professional, friendly, and very communicative and responsive to my needs. My technician, Leonard, was efficient, knowledgeable, and personable. He diagnosed the issue and fixed my AC within an hour of being there.The prices were very reasonable, especially for being a last-minute emergency request. I have to say that I am very disappointed with this company. I used this company late March and at the time it was $79 for the service call/maintenance. We spent some money with them fixing some items they recommended. Well I tried using them again but this time it did not go smoothly. Last week I set up an appt for today (Tuesday) from 3-5p. Well apparently after I used them, their prices went up $10. I asked when it happened, she said it was about 3 months ago. Mind you, it was late March when I used them. I get a phone call after trying to reach them and not getting a hold of anyone at 3:07 saying that they had other emergency ac customers and that they had to cancel my appt. I understand things happen as usual, but why call me so late? I waited a week for this appt. Could've gone with other companies and waited the same time but chose not to since we had a good experience with them originally. Well not this time so I will not be using them again. read more

I recently purchased a home and ACCH came in to do a job on the Heating/AC system based on a home inspection. The techs rewired the system completely wrong when they placed the unit back in. The HVAC unit was wired incorrectly. Causing the condenser to come on for AC while the heat was being called for. The heat strip would be energized and run for about 5 minutes, then the AC would come on, causing the air to never get warm/hot enough to satisfying the thermostat, which means the unit would always be on trying to reach it's desired temperature. The heat strip being on for a long period of time drains a lot of energy. This caused my first electric bill at my NEW HOME to be $600!!!! I've called the company multiple times without any assistance to what they did. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this company. I called another HVAC tech to fix the issue -- another $600 to fix the unit. Still waiting on the company to call me back for the error they did on my unit. read more

Steer clear of this company!!!!!!!!!! I liked this company because it bought out Hubrig, a long time local company.. After working with the representative, I liked the company even more.. this rep. boasted that his company was the only one to do a J manual.. some type of test that shows fancy numbers on which unit is the best for the house.. at the time when I was ready to sign the loan, I noticed the rep. tacked in another 6k to what was an agreed on proposal for 8200 dollars.. he sidestepped when I said this was not what we agreed on- 14,100 dollars that would turn into 18000 dollars after interest. he then said he misunderstood me thinking that I wanted a two system unit since I have two HVAC units. I am deaf myself so I have all the handwritten notes showing that he FULLY understood what I wanted- just a 8k HVAC unit. I got out of the phone conversation with this rep. And the loan officer saying I would do business with another company. This guy said he would work it out with me with the words, "we are the only company to do the J manual".. trailing. This man's name is Christophe Serrano. He said he just joined this company two and half weeks ago. STEER CLEAR!!!!!! I just signed a contract with Cold Comfort HVAC for 8400 dollars for a BETTER unit and service!!!! read more

Short and simple why they are so great. They are reasonably priced (actually, cheaper than most contractor quotes) and they own up to mistakes (they're not perfect, but still quite good) and don't charge you for coming out to fix something that they didn't get exactly right the first time. But most of all, they always give you advice and options on the most cost effective thing to do, even if it means they make less (like advising you to go with another warranty provider though it means Atlantic Coastal will lose your business on that particular repair). Jamie and the rest of the team have never been anything other than professional, on time, and very reasonably priced. Updating my review after the owner personally came to look at the humidifier today and clear up any questions I had. The last few months were frustrating, with the humidifier being installed incorrectly (and the techs leaving assuming it was working), then given incorrect information/expectations about how the humidifier should work. He saw that it should have been connected to the hot water line and immediately corrected it. In addition, he answered my questions and told me what the humidifier is capable of. This company contracted through Lowes. They sent out a service members to do an estimate and then charged based off of the estimate. Their technician didn't even check the electrical work to do an oven installation, let alone the upgrade we were looking for. The price was set, agreed upon, and paid. Their technicians even admitted they would have installed the unit on dangerous outlets if the home owner wouldn't have mentioned anything. When asked to rectify THEIR mistake the owner Jamie refused to even acknowledge the fault of his team and refused any further service. If a professional makes a mistake, they should be expected to FIX IT. read more

Although Atlantic Coastal Cooling & Heating's prices are quite reasonable and their technicians are knowledgeable and professional, their customer service is mediocre at best. Both times that I have had an emergency (once no heat in the dead of winter and once no a/c during a heat advisory in the summer), they rescheduled both appointments for the next day. I would not have an issue with this if the original appointments were late in the day but both were scheduled for 3 p.m. or earlier. read more

I used Atlantic Coastal for a central A/C (w/ heat pump) installation last year, and, having gone through a summer and a winter now, I am very pleased with their work. I live in an old row house with a crawl space attic for duct work, so it wasn't an easy job for them to complete. I received many quotes from companies only wanting to install a high velocity system, but Atlantic Coastal was able to install a traditional central AC system at a reasonable price. When I didn't like the placement of some of the duct work, they worked with me to change it. I later hired them to install a mini-split in the basement, and when there were issues with Carrier (the manufacturer) on the mini-split, they worked to resolve them, and now the basement is also comfortable. read more

We had multiple issues with our furnace going out and after trying out several other companies we used Atlantic Coastal after a recommendation from a coworker. Jamie came out himself to do a quick estimate and diagnostic and worked quickly with our landlord to present options (eventually a full replacement of the furnace). We've had air vent issues in one of our bedrooms and, without fully investigating, another HVAC company told us it was simply an air return/end of the line issue. We were not convinced this was the problem and had Atlantic Coastal come out for a second opinion. The owner, Jamie, came out and helped us to discover that the flex venting in our ceiling was partially collapsed and needed to be replaced. We were quoted a fair price and we were able to schedule the work for the next week. Once again, Jamie came out to do the work himself and, upon discovering that the work was not as involved and would not take as long as originally thought, charged us less than originally quoted. After their work, the airflow was significantly better! Jamie and his assistant worked quickly and were very clean...wearing shoe covers and leaving the room cleaner than when they started! After quite a few recent bad contractor experiences, it was very refreshing to work with such a responsive and honest company! We will definitely keep Atlantic Coastal in mind for our future HVAC needs. read more

Atlantic Coastal completed two separate repairs to my air conditioning system; the first was a minor repair to re-route the drain line; the second was a major repair to replace a part within my Carrier air handling unit. Throughout both, the administrative staff was extremely friendly. During the second repair, there was a several day delay in ordering the part, and the part did not come in until a day after they said it would arrive, which was frustrating. But, once the part was in, the repair work was completed successfully and in one visit. The technician was friendly and explained the mechanics of the repair. The system works great now, without any problem. read more
