We ended up staying at the Atlantic House after changing our plans from the Cape at the last minute, so our options were limited. The biggest positive is definitely the view,it really is beautiful and was the highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the room itself was very disappointing. After a long day of traveling, I wanted to take a quick nap while my family went to the beach. When I pulled back the covers, I found a napkin plus two wrappers and what felt like a pound of sand in the bed. Both beds also had an odor and clearly hadn't been freshly washed. We stripped the beds and asked the front desk for clean sheets. The employee seemed frustrated by the request, and we didn't receive a top blanket until around 11:00 the following day. The cleanliness throughout the room was lacking. The refrigerator had hairs inside, the sliding glass door was covered in tiny lip prints and fingerprints from what looked like a previous family's child, and there were smashed beans left on the table. Thankfully, I had cleaning supplies with me and ended up cleaning everything myself. We absolutely fell in love with the area and will definitely return, but we'll be choosing different accommodations next time. Beautiful hotel from the outside but old and out of date inside. The room: standard size closet; no other storage. Has a mini fridge and microwave and small sitting area. The pillows on the bed are flat pancakes. They give you only 3 for a king size bed. They were so awful, we had to go buy pillows to make it through the rest of the stay. read more

"Partial View" of the Ocean. Gotta say the people are clearly good enough humans. They will do the penguin smile & wave but don't expect much else. At the end are my suggestions for improvement. If you consider two building facing windows with a craning neck against the window, then this place is for you. If you consider old WW2 cotton mattresses from the USS New Jersey to be the height of luxury, then you'll probably be disappointed by the bed; that depending on how tall you are you may need to sleep diagonally, then this place is for you. If you consider a complimentary breakfast to be LITERALLY: two types of cereal & plain bagels with the choice of soured milk so instead you use not as soured half & half for your coffee as well as "same day of use is not expired" orange juice for your cereal, then this place is for you. If you consider having the staff snicker at you as you struggle to open a heavy door against the wind with said bowl of cereal & cup of coffee spill as the door hits you hard; enough so that if I were a weak willed individual I could sue for money, then this place is for you. If you consider the price of this two night experience to be worth more than $650.00 dollars then this place is for you! However, if the price was literally a third less, then this would be mostly acceptable. Perhaps, if the breakfast was served warm with something cooked; instead of everyone's hands in the bagle bag, like you are trying to spread some herd immunity, eh. Due to weather, a big storm, I tried unsuccessfully to change our reservation dates. Equal number of days but shifted. I was charged a one night penalty. Rather than cancel and rebook, I took the loss and found another hotel. Otherwise I would have had to pay 3 nights for a 2 night stay. They've lost my business. Given that this is walking distance to Narragansett town beach, I'd say I'd recommend staying here. HOWEVER, the hotel is outdated. The AC unit is old and makes air in the room wet and smells like mildew. For example, my husband's clothes were in his luggage and somehow felt moist after being in the room overnight. You definitely smell it instantly when you walk in, so if you are someone who is sensitive to mold/mildew spores, etc I'd be mindful of that. I do want to say that the blond woman who seems to work 2nd or 3rd shift is really great. She is very hospitable and attentive. Again, location is great- just measure your expectations as far as the room itself. We would stay here again. Beautiful view if you get a balcony room. read more

Terrible customer service. I've stayed here many times on business, It was always okay but it is really going downhill the past year or so. The last 2 times I was here, there was all kinds of noise at 3 and 4 AM with truck's idling and guys yucking it up in the parking lot, forget about sleeping. I figured I would try again, but this time ask for a room not facing the parking lot. The Check-in lady Debbie was completely unsympathetic to the situation and dismissed my concerns. She gave me a room exactly where I asked NOT to be. She then told me i would have to pay an upgrade charge for any other room in the hotel. She showed me an "upgraded" room which was the same as the other rooms except it didn't face the loud parking lot. She then explained that if I didn't like it I could get out and find another place to stay... she refused to let me speak with the manager, insisted she is the manager and she makes the decisions. This is an old school hotel near Narragansett Beach. The rooms were clean, the location great. The bed was comfortable. Traveling during COVID is tricky. You want to get away, but you don't want people around you. We wanted to go the beach for a couple days since COVID cancelled our vacations. In picking and deciding, only the Atlantic House still had availability. So I booked it. Expensive for three nights, just over $1000 for a king bed on the second floor, with a balcony and ocean view. The staff was friendly, but during our three nights they didn't check the room, change the garbage or replace towels. Is this the way of COVID? We don't know. No one said anything or asked if we needed anything. There is coffee in the lobby and in the room, but we took care of our own coffee needs. We wanted to park our car for a couple hours to go to the beach after check out. We had to be out by 11, but check in isn't until 3 pm. It would be nice if they would accommodate that after dropping $1000. We were told if our car was in the lot after 11, it would be towed. Not the most welcoming position to take. Parking at Narragansett is at a super premium. This one detail is the difference between me wanting to go back there and not. We headed straight home after not being able to find parking at Narragansett or Scarborough. Nice location, clean room. Friendly staff. Expensive for what you get, and no housekeeping for three days with no explanation. Maybe it's different when there isn't a pandemic around. read more

WORST customer service ever! I by accident made a reservation online at 10pm for the same night! I didn't show up because I meant to make a reservation for the following weekend! I got a nasty phone call that night from the front desk worker yelling at me saying I made her wait for me and she had been calling and calling me! It was 11pm I was asleep when I finally did answer I didn't even realize I did the reservation for that night. She just said I can't deal with you now I need to go to bed and told me she would get back to me on this issue! I called the next day to only be told that they need to speak to the general manager about this . I called again on Monday to be told the manager only works wed-sat! So I call again on wed to be told there is no general manager and anyone who answers the phone can help! I wasn't asking for a refund I was asking to be able to book another night in lieu of the night I mistakenly booked! The only answer I kept getting was that's not possible I can't move one date to another! My point is I know I made a mistake but was asking for some customer service to book me for another night and not pay for that since I paid for a night I didn't show up and it's not like I was taking up a room that could have been booked since it was so late in the night! After me being persistent the person who answered the phone today stated several times they will call me back before 6 guess what no call!! The online reservation system should not allow you to make a reservation that late. The fact that this hotel isn't allowing to help me not waste $250 is awful customer service! read more

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE!! If you're looking for a quaint, affordable, well-run and modernized hotel with the MOST BEAUTIFUL view of Narragansett Bay, then you must check out ATLANTIC HOUSE. Stayed here an extended time due to the pandemic, and the Manager, Suchin was extraordinary in hospitality and accommodations. I tell you the pictures just don't do the view the proper justice your own eyes deserve - you have to see it and wake up to the sunrise over the bay for yourself. Not to mention that it's smack dab in the middle of all things: yummy food, coffee shops, leisure amenities, shopping, and beautiful Narragansett Town Beach all within 5-10min walking distance along the bay view sidewalk. My wife and I were looking for an inexpensive getaway towards the end of the summer, and chose Narragansett. If you are penny pinching, then the Atlantic House is perfect because you're getting prime location oceanfront accommodations for considerably less than the surrounding properties. Having said that, the rooms, facilities, and upkeep of the surrounding properties are much better. I should also mention that "continental breakfast" is a VERY loose term at the Atlantic House. read more

I agree with B.B's review below. We were looking for a place to rest our head at night, as all we wanted to do was hang out at the beach. This place can certainly use some renovations, but overall it was great for our use. It's obviously not a 5 star hotel, but it was affordable and clean. We had a microwave, refrigerator, T.V, a working A/C, and while the bed wasn't that comfortable, it was super quiet, and had great views, and location, during peak season at the beach. We had a partial ocean view (even if the window was a bit dirty.) Staff was very nice, and the hotel provided Coffee every morning (which is huge in my opinion) as well as light snacks to start your day like "bagels, or english muffins, and cereal with milk. We brought a few things with us, and had everything we needed for a great 3 days at the ocean. I would totally stay at this place again, and for the price it was not anywhere near as bad as previous reviews I read. Staff was very nice, and housekeeping did a great job as well. read more

The hotel is very old with tough stairs and narrow hall, but it was clean and staff very nice. We had two queens, a micro wave and fridge. Coffee maker and supplies. There was a spacious chest, and large tv. In bathroom there were two bath towels each a hand towel and facecloth each. There was s dryer, soap , caps, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. There was an extra wall shelf that I found very useful. And there was a sitting area with a lamp and table, couch and chair I found it quaint and charming like Narraganset itself. The read more

Ok people....Theses reviews were scary and concerning but due to peak season and only needing to spend one night this was the choice we had for last weekend. I was pleasantly surprised with our overall experience at the Atlantic House. Clearly this is not a 5 star hotel, but rather a lower end affordable place to be able to stay in a nice area. It's summer time! people are not visiting this area to hang out in their room. This is a destination location due to the proximity to the ocean, block island, restaurants and shopping. This place is A+ for that. We called as we approached the area (prior to check in time) to see if our room was available yet. We were greeting by a friendly voice that said it was and that same warm welcome was extended upon check in. We were given a parking pass, room directions, keys and a map of the area. What else does one need? Our room was clean and bright. It did not smell, the ac worked well and we had a partial ocean view which is what we reserved and our bed was pretty damn comfortable! No disappointments. Now don't get me wrong the place def needs some renovations, carpets decor ect but for what they are working with they are trying to do the best they can. Remember if you want the place to look like and feel like the Tajma Hall you will be paying Tajma Hall prices! (not the kind of play you want to take bubble bath at) The price we paid was of course higher then what the room was probably worth had it been anywhere else in the country but people you are RIGHT ON THE OCEAN! Our room had a working Tv, mini-fridge, hair dryer (which worked fine) shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion and shower caps. I regret not stopping and picking up some cocktails for the room to bring out to sit on the community balcony and people while listening to the ocean. There was no convenient/liquor store in walking distance that we were able to locate ( and were too lazy to get back in the car) So long story short if your used to a 4/5 star resort this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a normal hotel unit to rest your head while in the area for a night or two this place is just fine. It's one of the most affordable in peak season in the area, location is wonderful and it was close to the Pt Judith ferry to Block Island We ate at Trio's down the street- made same day open table resv and it was worth checking out! The only suggestion/complaint I had upon check out was for someone to take a look at the tub drain for it was not draining quickly. The man at the front desk was super nice and appreciated letting him know. He wrote it down right in front of me for the maintenance dept to check prior to checking in the next guest. read more

I booked the king suite with full ocean view & I wasn't disappointed. The bed was super comfortable & clean. The bathroom was tired but clean. The 'fridge was cold & the view amazing! This is not a chain hotel so don't expect that experience but you can tell folks are working hard to polish this vintage jewel! New AC/heat units, TVs, beds & bedding. We were very happy here in room 101, with the sitting room and porch facing the ocean. The morning coffee was good and we had bananas and tangerines. The room was clean and comfortable; the TV, internet, water, heating were all fine. There were periods of hearing little feet running around upstairs, and the wind and surf were noisy at night. (Might be too noisy in the busy season). We stayed for two nights while I did an ancestor sweep of the old RI cemeteries in Woonsockett, Cranston and Pawtucket. We went out to the CliffWalk in Newport the following day before heading home. So, this historic lodging was perfect for our trip. read more

If you need to save money that is the only reason to stay here, the two guys running the front desk had no idea who was in what rooms or who should go where. We booked ocean view with 2 beds, they sent us to king bed with no ocean view. We were moved to a room with 2 beds and no ocean view. At checkout time their computers were not working and told us our final cost should be anywhere between $109-150 (what?????) we opted to check out thru their sister hotel (aqua blue - we heard from friends that hotel was over priced and not worth it). Everything just renovated, modern decor, pleasant, working and clean, good service. Safe, lots of parking. Just can't fault it. Our room was smaller than other hotels we've been to but was fine for us**. I really slept well and did not hear the neighbors. The hallways always clean. Basic breakfast with strong coffee which is all I want. Lots a parking and great location. If you need a pool ( don't know since the beaches here are great) or more elaborate breakfast (dont know why since there's really good breakfast places here) then maybe this hotel is not for you. **Given that it was all just modernized at the Atlantic it might not be the place here to say in this review that I'm a big fan of the older hotels. When I'm on vacation I want different. The last thing I want is a chain hotel, chain restaurant. read more

Made a reservation for a king bed room two months before our trip. Called the day before check-in to confirm and to tell the staff we would be a late check-in. When my wife and I arrived we were given the first room that backs up to the front office, with a clear view to the front door and a full size bed. I asked to switch rooms and was told they were totally sold out. Only after I asked how this was going to be resolved was I refunded the difference for the smaller room (a whopping $33 total for 2 nights). The room was gross - dirty carpets, spiders in the sink. The room was so small you couldn't open the dresser all the way due to the bed being in the way. I paid $150/night + tax. Had better rooms at a Motel 6. Will never stay here again. read more

One word: Dump! Why you ask? Here goes... We found this place in our Facebook news feed under last minute deals for $99/night. What a bargain, right? When we arrived we went to the room but when I laid on the bed, it smelt odd. We asked the front desk to change the bedding and left for the afternoon. When we got back at 11:30pm, nothing was done. The bedding smelt like someone pee'd on it. I stripped the bedding off and just used the top sheet. After an hour our neighbors showed up screaming and laughing. We figured we would let it go at first thinking bedtime was coming. Well this went on ALL night without management stepping in at all. To the point that other rooms were yelling "please quiet down"! I know the manager or "lack there of" knew what was going on. The girls room was directly at the top of the stairs from her. Needless to say, we checked out at 5am and drove home to sleep! I wish I had reviewed this place prior, we would have never went. This place is across the street from the water but if it wasn't, it would be a pay buy the hour! The location of this hotel is great, right across the street from the ocean, but the room we had not so much. Had to traipse through grass to get to the room, there were no pathways. No view, room was clean enough except for a huge damp spot on the carpet which they said might have been from the mini fridge. The toilet kept running all night. The bed was hard. Worst Hotel ever. We booked for a wedding. Room out dated and run down property. My wife ended up in the hospital during the wedding. After being in the hospital all night and not knowing when my wife would be released I returned to the Hotel. I went to the front desk to ask for an extension. I explained my situation. I was told by the Rude front desk that the maid decides who gets an extension and I had to speak directly to her. Are you kidding me! The maid runs the show.The Maid would not help me out and extend my stay by one hr or even a minute she had no time even after I explained my situation to her so I could secure transportation for my handicapped elderly mother in-law who was staying with us. Thank God for Family. I was able to get her a ride. I was also able to bring my wife home that night. If you want to know the kind of people that run this Hotel. When I experience poor service, I blame management. This lodging experience, was so poor, I'm convinced management does not exist at this location. I booked my room more than a month in advance. When I arrived (11:30AM on a Saturday), there were literally NO guests at this hotel. There wasn't anyone to greet guests. The front desk also had nobody attending. A sign indicated I had to call ext. 112 to get service. Not easy to do WITHOUT a hotel phone. I found cleaning staff down a hallway, which only understood me well enough to know I needed someone that could help me. He led me down another hallway, knocked on a door, and a man came out, who appeared to be unhappy he was awoken from his slumber at 11:30AM in the morning. No greeting, just a yawn as he walked by to the front desk. He checks us into a room that was facing an empty parking lot on the first floor. Reminder, THERE IS NOT A SINGLE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT. Once I got into the room that did not smell pleasant, I called extension 112 to ask to be moved to a room that was ocean view, and above the 1st floor. He put me on hold for 2 minutes to then inform me the upgrade was $33. Again, reminder, THERE WERE NO GUESTS IN THIS ENTIRE HOTEL. Unable to withstand the smell of this room, I agreed and was 'upgraded' to the 2nd floor, facing the ocean. The room was clean, only due to the competent cleaning staff, which was the only reason I was still at this hotel. However, a guest, prior to my arrival, years prior for all I know, did not know how to use an iron, nor an ironing board. I found several iron burn marks throughout the carpet on the floor. No fault of the hotel, just venting about a guest that should not be allowed to wear pressed, firm clothing. Now, onto the plumbing. The hot water, took 3 or so minutes to become lukewarm. I will not blame the hotel staff for this, as I've stated, I'M THE ONLY GUEST AT THIS HOTEL and the pipes were obviously bored. The problem I did have was with the long, question mark shaped faucet that was about 12 inches higher than the sink in the bathroom. This resulted in everything in the bathroom receiving a shower that did not wish to shower. Including, but not limited to: the mirror, the toilet, the floor, and guests wearing clothing that was dry prior to sink use. The security was a short 5 inch tall rock which conveniently propped the side door open to allow guests (or GUEST in my case) to enter and exit the hotel at will. This also allows for unwanted guests to do the same. Let's include axe murderers, or anyone else that simply wanted to get out of the cold. When 'checking out', I was stalked and greeted at my car by the same cleaning staff member to present me with my bill. Obviously the greeter / front desk attendee could not bother with a check out before 11:30AM (I checked out at 8:45AM). In closing, I could never consider staying at this location again, just for the security reason alone. With my other experiences, I'm willing to take my chances at a competing business in the future. read more

Go someplace else Please!!! Now on7/14 I get a E mail from booking.com that I was a no show!! REALLY??? Who was she talking to ?? If I wasn't there how do I have the parking pass?? I was not offered a 226 room for 100 !!!!!!!!!! offered a room that you were supposedly going to charge me 160 or 180 for this all comes from your staff for 100 and it was a take it or leave it deal !!! There were so many problems with this place that nobody in there right mind would have stayed !!!!! It wasn't one mistake , it was more like 7 or 8 before we even checked in!
