I hadn't been here for years because I rarely eat out locally. A friend treated me to dinner at the Atlantic Sea Grill and what a treat it was! There was a scallop dish on their evening "specials" which we both ordered. It was supposed to be pan seared served over lemon/sundried tomato risotto. We arrived before dinner hour and the risotto was not yet ready. I asked if the dish could be made with pasta instead. They made linguini and served it with the lemon/sundried tomatoes. I think it was a better choice than risotto - lucky us! There were also a few bits of spinach on the dish, plenty of perfectly cooked scallops and a very rich lemon butter sauce. It was so delicious and a very generous portion. I didn't need an appetizer, but I love lobster bisque. It was also delicious and had noticeable pieces of lobster in it. Unusually good. We've lived in Acton for many, many years and tonight was the first time we've eaten here. What a fabulous experience. Businesses should try hard to keep you as a customer. After all, you're spending your hard earned money so the experience should be pleasant and memorable, especially with so many options available. It was immediately apparent these owners are taking their customers very seriously. We were greeted warmly by the young lady at the podium when we walked in and seated right away. It was busy. The menu is solid with the just amount of variety to appeal to most everyone without compromising quality. Our waiter, a young man named Derek, was top shelf all the way. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. He made the whole experience a delight. My wife had the baked stuffed shrimp with sweet potato fries and fried green beans. I had the seafood scampi with a bowl of clam chowder. Both meals were phenomenal. Very generous portions with FRESH ingredients prepared absolutely perfectly. The chowder is made in house and was hot, creamy, and very tasty. The restaurant was spotless and the decor was very understated and simple. It's most definitely not some hipster, new age joint that offers stuff I've never heard of or want. I was shocked by the poor quality canned tuna they use for their tuna sandwich. The menu says there are choices for the entree sides but the menu nor the waitress mention the up charge. I think the simpler your order is here, the more you will like the food. I just go with grilled or broiled fish (usually the scrod) and it is always delicious. It is not inexpensive, but the quality of the food is solid. When you order fish it comes with a choice of two sides and there is lots to choose from. The french fries are up there with the best I have ever had. The coleslaw is traditional style (creamy and sweet). Decor is simple and nautical. I have not been on a weekend, but I imagine it would get crowded as the dining area is fairly small. read more

We've been coming here over 20 years. Always has been good, but tonight was the best! The seafood casserole was the very best I've ever had in 70+ years of eating New England seafood. Better than Pier 4 or Jimmy's - I'm showing my age - better than Legals. Perfectly ( barely ) cooked, but crispy cracker crumbs on top. Exactly right amount of lemon to offset the butter. Green beans excellent as always, but the topper was the huge portion of fantastic onion rings. Wife had the excellent stuffed sole, which was more than she could eat. We both had the crisp lightly-dressed side Caesar, and split the beans and rings. To top it off service was fast, friendly and efficient. Wish I could give six stars. Great!! read more

You would not guess from the looks of this place how good it is. It has a little bit of a kitschy look but the food and truly wonderful staff make this place a keeper. I've been here several times and not been disappointed. The bread (so good...who cares about the carbs), veggies, craft cocktails and fish are all amazing. Also....the dollar oysters are a big draw for me....nothing better than oysters and champagne!!! This place is a little off the beaten path....but so worth it. If ever there was a time to support your local fish restaurant in Acton, it's this winter and coming spring. As the holiday push is over, takeout is a tasty option if you don't dine in during the pandemic. Atlantic Sea Grill has the freshest and tastiest fish and other meals, including Greek dishes. During the pandemic, we ate outside on the patio until mid-October. We have ordered take out since then. Have seen a few people inside dining in the restaurant and bar areas, as it is a personal choice. We ordered seafood casserole, broiled sole (gluten-free) and the fried seafood platter recently. The take out meals are just as generously sized and delicious as when you order in the restaurant. Other favorites are the lobster roll and chicken souvlaki which is a chicken shishkabob on a stick with a side salad. The souvlaki and fish and chips are good choices for a moderate price ($20 at dinner.) Other options are mid-$20s and well worth it in generous portions and sides. Go for it. read more

It saddens me to give such a low rating to Atlantic Sea Grill, what had been one of my favorite restaurants since my family moved to Boxborough in 1991. New owners took over about 1-2 years ago. Pros Food-Let me say this: food is still pretty good. Not as good as before overall, but still good. Portions are smaller, but that could be a pro in terms of eating appropriate amount of food sort of thing. Ambiance-new paint on walls, artwork easy on the eyes, nice new bar (not for me really, but I miss the old set up, but that's my personal nostalgia) Service-barring the huge CON below that is the reason for my low rating, there are some nice people working there. Not like the long standing old timers like the blonde woman with glasses who is now at Papa Razzi or the guy with glasses and an earring, but they are just fine servers. Cons Patrons-Okay, the average age is l about 75 most of the time. It's always been like that, that doesn't really bug me at all, but I know it bothers a lot of people, so I put it up for your benefit. I think it's sweet but whatever. That Waitress- short brownish hair, glasses, super duper obnoxious. Pushy. Joking in a too familiar way. Roughly. Like this lady was either my server or was there the past 3 times I went to Atlantic Sea Grill. I'm telling you I love that place. Great memories with my family, extended family, good friends. The attitude of this woman has totally soured my thoughts of the place. And I feel like she holds grudges too. Like I'm clearly unhappy about this situation as I type, but in person I was continuously giving the benefit of doubt. I'm a delayed reactor, any way. OMG, what a hidden gem ! Let me start by saying the place super clean snd nice decor snd our waitress Bonnie A++++engender the bar tender was nice even tho he just wanted to use our pepper LOL . We started out with steamers which I was dying for and no one piece of sand not 1. Then we both got stuffed shrimp and my sides were jasmine rice which was amazing and asparagus which cooked perfectly. My BF had pasta and onion rings which are cooked homemade omg yummy and the pasta was just a butter pasta so my BF asked if he could spice it up not just butter and he put a spin on it snd my BF loved it ! My wife and I were very excited to try this place out. We called ahead because my wife has a latex allergy, and wanted to be sure that they didn't use latex gloves in the food prep. They said they did not, so we wanted a reservation. They assured us that we didn't need one, and would be seated promptly upon arrival. We got there, and ended up having to wait quite a while, about 45 minutes. Two other groups came in after us, and were seated first. When we were finally seated, we were placed at a table that had not been cleaned off yet, not given menus, and were ignored by wait staff. We waited about 15 minutes until a very large group came in. They were seated and given menus before our table was even cleaned. We knew we would end up waiting forever for our food, so we left without ordering. It also seemed like there was no wait staff out on the dining floor. I saw at least 5 waiters, but never at the same time. It seemed like they were hiding out in the kitchen. The host was also busing tables as well as taking care of any new patron arrivals. There was also a party that came in about 2 minutes after us, and were still waiting when we walked out. They were told it would be a 20 minute wait. We were there for just over an hour, so they had been waiting for an hour. It just seemed mismanaged overall and this review is based solely on service. read more

The food is good. Lots of butter, so if dairy is not your thing, there are the usual fried seafood, steak (pricey) and grilled options. Not very many kid friendly options and were not very accommodating to providing kids portion seafood options when we ask - especially in a town desperate for more family friendly restaurants. Got the pasta - very buttery, 3 shrimps, 3 scallops and 2 lobster pieces and linguine for $26. Have been there 4 times - we always get the fried calamari and mussels. Specials were good. Service was friendly but the lady we had tonight was either very distracted or busy. Took our fork with the bread plate and when we got our entree, it took another 5 minutes to get a new fork while our food was getting cold. It was the same wait for anything we needed. It was a long wait to get our entrees and we were very hungry. The patrons come early to this place. It was packed at 5pm. We were glad to have gone early or we would be there into the night waiting for a table or for our food. Not sure if we will be going back there anytime soon. It's pricey without the value of the pricey atmosphere even with the nice renovations. They need to improve the upscale want-to-be type of service to match the price. read more

Just went Friday and had a very pleasant meal with my wife. Good food and drinks, staff was fine. Saw they offer $1 oysters Sun-Thursday 4-6 pm so we went back Sunday to the bar and got some shellfish. Nice bartender, the crowd was fun and we have a new spot. read more

For years they've taken reservations only not to honor them when you arrive. We called for reservations, assuming that in the covid era things had changed. They took our reservation and said see you soon. Upon arrival, this waitress barked at us that they weren't taking reservations and had no tables. When we turned to go (sick of her rudeness yet again), she grabbed my arm!! Since when is it acceptable to manhandle your customers? I called the manager and got an apologetic but what can ya do speech. You can get rid of this horrible woman. We have been customers for years but would have come many more times if not for the risk of sitting in this woman's section. Honestly, I'm relieved. Writing this review after at least 5 dinners here in the past 3 months. This has become our favorite restaurant in the area. Every meal we've had has been fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable, warm and inviting, with several cozy bar seating options. The fam that owns it is just as warm - no pretense here just welcoming and friendly. Excellent choices are mixed seafood grill, baked stuffed shrimp, grilled salmon, seafood casserole, baked schrod. Tuna tartare app is also amazing. Prices are fair for this high quality. read more

Visit June 16, 2018: Stuffed Flounder: this dish comes with one side order for 16.00. Our waiter mistakenly included fries with our order (which were delicious). The flounder was delicious, but you only get two small pieces, if you are hungry I wouldn't get this unless you add extra sides. Had we not gotten the extra side of fries - this would NOT have been enough food. One of us had carrots (nice chunks but a little undercooked) in yummy maple syrup butter and the other had the oyster sauce green beans (very good). We waited over 3o minutes for our food and would have appreciated a nice roll or some bread and butter while we waited. Staff very friendly. Love the remodel. Was there 5-6 years ago and it was very dated. Hot Tips for Management: 1.Serve rolls or bread when guests are seated. 2. Add an additional side to the Stuffed Flounder Entrée one is NOT enough. 3. I've been there many times over the years, but have never before posted on Yelp. Maybe that's because they are so consistently good that I've taken it for granted. From the chowder to the lobster to the fried seafood, this place does it right. And with their fairly recent renovation, the place looks as good as the food. It used to be that the Boston suburbs were known for a plethora of good seafood restaurants, but maybe the preponderance of Legal Seafood has chased many away. Ok, the main message is that we still enjoy going to ASG and it is still the first place to consider when going out, but need keep an eye on where things are heading. The service is still attentive and polite and a few of the old staff are still around. The drinks are still strong and you get your money's worth. The fish is still fresh and tasty. So what's missing? Well, I can't quite put a finger on it, but little things, like the size of entrees and appetizers. While here in America we oversize just about everything, ASG is starting to serve under what would be a good and fair portion. For example, last night I order the Mixed Grill with Swordfish, Salmon, and Shrimp. You used to get three pieces of each that were of fair size. Last night I got two pieces each of the swordfish and salmon, but only one shrimp. Also, the grilled veggies consisted of only a quarter piece of zucchini, three pieces of red onion, one strip of red pepper, and a quarter piece of summer squash. Not exactly filled as this is veggies we are talking about. So, as I started, I still will go (the food tasted great), but keeping a view as to when it just isn't worth the cost. read more

We just celebrated my Mother-in-laws 95th birthday here. There were 34 of us. We sat in the private back room. We had appetizers of calamari, wings, meat balls and oysters. They were delicious. Dinner choices for the party were: salmon, whole belly clams, steak, chicken and scallops served with butternut squash, rice or fries. EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection and we ALL got our food at the same time, hot. The wait staff was cheerful and did a great job, we wanted for nothing. We told the waiter we were in a rush, and they quickly took care of us. Had a dozen oysters that were great. I had eaten lobster rolls from earlier trip to Boston and preferred those over the ones here, only bec the ones I like best are simply lobster and garlic in melted butter on grilled garlic bread. This is more of a lobster salad, like a chicken salad (oh, that's not fair! Just the style!) But if you love your lobster rolls that way, these were fab! Huge pieces of lobster. It was great. We ordered 2 cups of clam chowder today to go. We were greatly disappointed by the chowder. It used to be so rich and creamy. Now it's an odd shade of green. Overly potato-y and celeried. Strong taste of bacon. Which is ok but few clams and no clam juice taste. It had a noticeable gummy thickness. It should be more buttery as well. And the price was surprising at $8 a cup. read more

I keep giving this place a second chance because the food is decent. However, the service is arguably the WORST I've ever experienced. They are continually understaffed and there's almost never a waitress to be seen on the restaurant floor. I'm presently at the table as I write this... ordered an hour ago... took 30 minutes just to get drinks... management does not seem to care at all and the waitstaff certainly doesn't. Restaurant is half full so there's no excuse.... still waiting for my salad! This is our first trip out to Massachusetts and what a jewel we found in the place. As soon as we walked in you could smell the fresh seafood. You can also see the fresh seafood in the back. Our waiters name was Derek and was pleasant. To begin i had a pre dinner drink a berry Moscow mule and it was delicious. Appetizers were a crab slider and calamari. For dinner my daughter had a 1 1/4 pound stuffed lobster with candied carrots and sweet potato fries. I had the stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes and a side salad. We finished off with bread pudding with ice cream and a caramel custard. Can I just say OMG. The fish and lobster melted in your mouth like butter. We had so much food and the bill was extremely reasonable. If we ever come back to Massachusetts I would come back no question. read more

At 7:30 I had to ask the hostess where our dinners were because I couldn't find our waitress. Most food was not hot. No excuses, no apologies, no sign of the manager, not even a soda comped for waiting over an hour for food that took 20 minutes to prep. Food would have been much better if served fresh.
