The seafood is fresh and the portions are a good size, but every time I go in there it seems to be run by a group of high schoolers... Over the phone orders have been incorrect, the tables are almost always dirty, and I watched the kid at the register bring a piece of fish back to the cook without so much as a glove on his hand... The prices are not cheap either, two seafood dinners (a piece of fish with one side) will run you $50 easy. I get the sense the owner of this location doesn't stop by often to check on how their staff is doing. When I visited recently a half an hour before closing time, the staff seemed irritated that they had to take another order and fire up the grill again...mind you I walked in at 6:30 not 6:50 when they close at 7. My flounder sandwich was large and fresh, but tasted like nothing as if no salt or seasoning was used in the fry batter. My wife said the same about her grilled halibut, fresh but lacking in flavor. All in all it works if you are in a pinch and want some fresh fish, but I would not go out of my way to eat here.

The Atlantic Sea Grill in Acton completely ruined what was supposed to be my birthday dinner. I ordered their $40 seafood platter expecting a special meal, but what I got felt like a bad joke. The plate was piled high with fries and onion rings but barely any seafood -- just two small shrimp and two sad-looking scallops that were anything but fresh. They tasted disgusting, rubbery, and absolutely inedible. To make matters worse, they served fried oysters instead of clams without mentioning the change. It was obvious they substituted them to save money. When I asked about the meager serving, my waiter had the audacity to tell me that scallops were expensive. I then spoke with the maître d', who said the chef told her the platter was supposed to include three scallops -- but when he learned I only got two, he suddenly changed his story and claimed two was "normal." The waiter even asked to take my uneaten plate back to show the chef, which made no sense at all since this wasn't something they could "fix" like an undercooked steak. I refused. It only got worse when I spoke with the manager, Richard. He actually dragged me over to their seafood display claiming that's where my scallops came from, as if showing me some raw seafood somehow proved it was fresh. The claim was ludicrous and unprovable. He went on to say that they had recently taken over the restaurant but kept the same staff and systems -- a strange explanation that didn't account for how far downhill the place has gone. He also claimed he told the waiter to charge me half price for my platter, but the waiter denied it, and Richard made no attempt to make things right. I left feeling nauseated from the food and disgusted by the way the entire situation was handled. The Atlantic Sea Grill used to be good, but it's clear that quality, honesty, and customer care are long gone. Between the tiny portions, poor food quality, and evasive management, this restaurant doesn't deserve another chance. If you value your money and your stomach, stay far away. read more

I cannot believe I became one of those people that create an account just to complain , but it seems like the restaurant does not care to hear my complain. I called several times and asked to speak to a manager about their bartender both of them actually and every time I call they say there's no manager around I even told them I can leave my number so that someone can call me back and their respond was you can call back an other day!!! It saddens me to see a restaurant going down just from one employee when the rest of the employees are great for the most part the bartender Jolen or how ever her name is DOES NOT KNOW WHAT the HELL she's doing! It is ridiculous Mo too he knows how to make some drinks but they are awful but he can't bartend at night !!! When it gets busy they both loose it they are both horrible!!!! I was there both Friday and Saturday and trust me Saturday was the last! I am NEVER stepping foot in there again! Jolen is slow can't handle a bar, rude, talks about personal issues at work I mean really?????? That bar is amazing and if they could just keep that sweet young lady Dedra it would work out great! Despite of food are Good, server is horrible. The restaurant was empty but I had to wait by the door more than 10 min, then I went back to my car and came back in, thought the restaurant wasn't ready yet. I came back in to the hall way, then 2 servers who were sitting across the bar with Laptop, screamed at me "sit down anywhere you want!". WOW, really?? The server didn't even bring me the drink menu, but asked me what I want to drink, as soon as I sat down. The horrible service by servers. I could have left to the other restaurant, but I was supposed to meet a friend here, so I had to stay, that was painful. Never go there again. read more

Have been going to Atlantic Sea Grill for years without issue. However, our visit last week was a disaster. Arrived at 6pm with a reservation yet no service until 6:10pm. Ordered food then our waitress never checked in again. Talked to another individual repeating our request for prompt service since we had to leave by 6:55pm. By the time 6:55pm arrived, no one had approached our table since 6:10pm so we left hungry and extremely annoyed. Will not return and will no longer recommend Atlantic to anyone. When we called the next day to complain, they promised a callback - but guess what - no one did!! read more

Just renovated and renewed. New but known owners with former owners there to help them along. Excellent choices, always fresh and good portions. Very welcoming staff and servers very happy to have you there! Moderately priced and dependable quality and customer service. From families to seniors there are selections for all. Food good, service spotty. Came here twice during a vacation. Lived nearby for 25 years so I know the area. Service was great one meal, really rude the second. Had a good lobster, and the fish and chips is done so well, but there are some bad servers employed here. They need training. We came here for dinner (there were 8 of us) and we were blown away by the new updates. The place looked great. All 8 of us loved our seafood- it was cooked perfectly and the portions were good size. My husband had a cocktail from the bar and so did 3 of our friends. All awesome. There will be plenty more trips to the Sea Grill. read more

The owners, meanwhile, had apparently decided their role for the evening was less "run the restaurant" and more "be its most important customers." They remained comfortably seated and dining while our server repeatedly stopped tending to the handful of actual customers to see what they needed. And they were STILL comfortably seated enjoying themselves when we finally left -- eons later than we should have because the service was painfully slow. Honestly, congratulations to them. By all appearances, they had a lovely dining experience. It takes a special kind of talent to understaff your own restaurant while somehow overstaffing your own table. We've been here multiple times, and every single visit has had the same problem: food comes out at random intervals, something is missing, someone is forgotten. At this point, consistency is their thing -- just unfortunately not the kind you want. This visit, our server genuinely seemed to be trying (so yes we did tip her appropriately despite the terrible overall experience), but she'd been put in the ridiculous position of serving paying customers while simultaneously waiting on her bosses and their family. There were only a handful of occupied tables, yet after serving one, she'd seemingly report back to the owners to see what they needed next. Meanwhile, their kids were running circles around our table the entire time. I have a kid. I run a business. I'm all for enjoying your own establishment. But if your family dinner requires so much attention that the paying customers become supporting characters, perhaps DoorDash? Then came the David Blaine portion of the evening. Seven people. Drinks? No pen. Dinner orders? Still no pen. Just raw confidence. A beer disappeared entirely. Dirty wine glasses arrived. Then everyone's dinner came except mine. Eventually, the grand finale appeared: I had ordered an appetizer AND a dinner. What arrived was the two combined. Ta-da! Two meals become one. Normally, I'd laugh it off. But this wasn't a one-off - we've had timing and missing-food issues basically every time we've eaten here. Which is a shame because, again, the food is really good. The kitchen deserves better. The servers deserve better. The customers deserve better. The owners? I'd mostly like to nominate them for an episode of Kitchen Nightmares and watch Gordon Ramsay explain the concept of "paying customers" at his preferred volume of profanity. We've also heard the owners aren't particularly receptive to criticism, so we're fully expecting a defensive response rather than any acknowledgment that perhaps - just perhaps - the recurring problems might have something to do with the people running the place. It's quintessencial central Mass. bistro dining, where the waitress is the bartender, the maitre d' is the owner, the empire and mid century china is mismatched but matches the food that is presented on the dishes, and where that food is delicious. Many, but not all, items on the menu are gf, several are vegetarian, and one main and one dessert are vegan. We tried the well-balanced "Red Skies at Night" cocktail and would have it again. We also tried some of the new dishes that are rotating through the menu. The gf seasonal watermelon and feta salad is a particularly savory example of this summer favorite. Crab salad with avocado, hard-boiled egg, and real remoulade sauce, was a nice interpretation (served on a period luncheon plate). The main course artichoke spinach cheesecake was outstanding. Among the desserts, the gf chocolate mousse, which was served in an old-fashioned metal sundae dish and garnished with a fresh violet and real whipped cream, was rich and delicious. We will be back.
