The company involved is Affordable Battery Inc. in Fort Lauderdale. I was charged approximately $245 for a battery, then another $70 for installation. Now I am being told I need to pay another $100 to reset my BMW's computer after the battery installation. My total cost is now approaching $500, and I'm also dealing with electrical problems that appeared after the battery was replaced, including issues with my lights and other electrical functions. What concerns me most is that I don't know whether my original battery actually needed to be replaced in the first place. I relied on the technician's assessment because I expected professional and trustworthy service through AAA. If a battery replacement causes problems that weren't there before the service, why should the customer have to keep paying additional charges to correct them? I am requesting an itemized explanation of every charge, documentation of the battery testing that justified the replacement, and an explanation of what was done to my BMW during installation. I'm sharing my experience because AAA members deserve transparency about who is being dispatched to their vehicles and what additional charges they may be asked to pay. AAA -- I need you to address this. Affordable Battery Inc. -- I need an explanation and resolution. I'm keeping all receipts, payment records, communications, and documentation of the vehicle's condition before and after the service. Sonny seemed to be the owner and he had two or three workmen who seemed serious and focused workers. No payment for this surprise. - new control arm - - we asked them to replace it as it had bad rubber on connection - they said absolutely, no problem - a week later we find out they never ordered the part, they don't have the ability to replace that part, like they don't have the ability to do the job at all in any way, no payment for this -blower- - we ask them to diagnose and let us know before ANYTHING AT ALL is done. Remember, we have a warranty that would cover this, so we were very specific about this. Signed the document to tell us if it goes above $150. - they remove one drawer, reach behind it and plug the blower motor back in as it wiggled lose. - $1,000. They charged us $1,000. They said we authorized 6 hours of work. We called the manufacturer to determine the amount of time it should have taken. They wrote out an email explaining in detail that not to just plug it back in, but to REPLACE the whole thing, is one hour of labor. The owner is a liar. The owner is an insecure 70 year old man with a failing business and health and is desperate to make a dollar. Do not go here. Do not trust them. I have to say getting here was quite the feat; as I am not from the area, and Industrial appeared to be a long road of auto shops, a thing I am not familiar with by any means. I was confused to enough where I called, but was greeted by a friendly employee, who said they would meet me outside to direct me where to go. Instructed to leave my keys, I was invited inside and went to the counter, where I registered everything and had a seat in their waiting area across the way. Thankfully there was a television, and some dance movie (Step Up 3 or something) was playing. Even though it was far from the beginning, I still watched since there was pretty much nothing else for me to do. A couple others were waiting for their cars, one had a laptop plugged in. Behind there were some vending machines and the restrooms; I point this out because other places where I have gotten my oil change do not have such extras so this was a good thing. Within the hour, I was out of there, and the girl working the front was super-sweet and helpful. Although I was initially quoted a lower price for the estimate, I forgot this was a larger vehicle than what I am accustomed to so of course required more oil so I wasn't put off by this. Please note there is a surcharge for using plastic, so I was glad I had cash on me. For something as simple as an oil change, I can highly recommend East Coast Auto Service.
