This place is so cool and not cool at the same time…read more.. Here's the bad stuff... 1. Super construction going on and the parking lots are a mess, you don't know to go right or left and I got lost finding entrances even after 3 days.really dirty too. 2. The dirt doesn't stop there. Our first room we were given was so smokey I mean burning eyes smokey. There was a box fan sitting outside the room so I think they tried to air it out but it was like someone burned a cigar in there and just closed the door. 3. After going thru a room swap we were given another room. Fine but there was a dirty rag left in the bathroom counter with hairs all over it. Not a huge deal but still, come on right? 4. The late check out. Went to the front desk night before to make sure late check out was ok since we were at an event that morning. No problem they said you got until 4 with an additional fee. Great right? Nope since our room was a room that was attached to a suite they needed us out before that. Just come on again! 5. The service is just rude everywhere. I mean everyone you encounter! The Rim restaurant guy host in a suit..., I'm convinced was high as a kite. Don't believe me, go there and talk to him, holy! The security desk, rude and unhelpful. Anyone you call on the phone from the room, rude. I'm not expecting Disney customer service, but come on man! Someone teach these guys some customer service skills. So the good.... The resort is really cool. Bowling video games, nice casino, everything to spend a fun weekend. We may even come back just to do the pool and stuff to do there. To wrap it up... Lower your expectations. Your not going to get the cleanest room. Most certainly you will be treated rudely. It's a place that could be so epic but falls short due to just taking short cuts in the customer service, organization and just plain care about your whole experience factor. P.S. you will receive at least 5 text messages telling you about how great their spa is.

Here's an update…read more Grand Sierra Resort - Frustrating Stay Despite Being a Loyal Guest / 5 I have been coming to the Grand Sierra Resort annually for years -- once for my grandson's basketball tournament at the convention center, and again each July for a golf tournament. I consider myself a loyal, returning guest, which made this past weekend's experience all the more disappointing. When I checked in, the receptionist was genuinely kind and helpful -- a real bright spot. She offered me a room upgrade for $45 more per night and assured me she could place me on the same floor as my son, just down the hallway. I was excited. However, she then said she needed her manager's approval. The manager came over, barely acknowledged me, and flatly said no -- apparently reserving those rooms for other purposes. The receptionist apologized, but the damage was done. For a guest who returns here every year, that interaction felt dismissive and discouraging. The receptionist herself was wonderful, but the manager's handling of the situation left me feeling like my loyalty meant nothing. Later that evening around 8:30 PM, we headed back up to our room on the seventh floor and discovered that only one of the three elevators was operational. What followed was a 20-minute wait just to get on an elevator, packed in with other frustrated guests -- on a Saturday night, no less. Beyond the inconvenience, I couldn't help but think about what could happen in an emergency with two elevators out of service. That is a serious safety concern that management needs to address immediately. Outside of these issues, the rest of the stay was business as usual and accommodating. But given my history with this property, I expect better -- and loyal guests deserve better. I hope the Grand Sierra takes this feedback seriously before my next visit.

After nearly 10 months of planning, I expected the basics to be handled correctly. When we checked in, we were given a double room instead of the King room we reserved. I went back to the front desk and was told that because they were oversold for Thursday night, there was no way to move us into a King room at all during our stay. That explanation didn't make much sense--they confirmed they had King rooms available Tuesday and Wednesday, but because of the Thursday overbooking, they couldn't honor the reservation for any of the nights. So even though I booked months in advance and had already arrived, I was effectively bumped in favor of guests who hadn't even checked in yet. To make matters worse, only 2 out of 5 elevators were working the entire stay, which led to long waits (up to 20 minutes to get down in the morning) and added frustration. After the fact, I looked through other reviews and saw that this seems to be an ongoing issue, not a one-off situation. Between the reservation not being honored and the operational problems, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Skip this place.

From the moment I walked in, several employees greeted me with smiles as I made my way to the Players Club. At the Players Club, Michele was incredibly helpful and happy to reprint my players card. She also told me about the 25% buffet discount and explained how to print it from the kiosk. I tried finding the buffet on my own but couldn't locate it. I asked the security guard on duty for directions, and not only did he give me clear instructions, but he also personally escorted me to the escalators I needed to take upstairs. That level of customer service really stood out to me. Once upstairs, Ursula greeted me with a smile at the register and even joked about "ONLY having four hours left" in her shift when I asked how her day was going. I was seated right away, and my drink order was taken almost immediately by Hachib. Hachib was probably the most impressive waiter I've seen in a very long time. He was kind, polite, funny, and genuinely engaged with the guests. He even suggested a drink when he noticed I wasn't sure what I wanted. Watching him interact with the other guests around me, it was clear that he truly enjoys what he does and takes pride in going above and beyond. The food was good, but the service I experienced was phenomenal. Because of the outstanding staff, I will definitely be coming back -- and often.

Atmosphere - We came to the Western Lights Event (5 stars and I added the "business" page to Yelp, but Jim W beat me to the first review). Well if kids do come here, I am sure they are all outside at the cool Western Lights Event. "Lincoln Alley" separates their two buildings. One positive thing I want to say about the cafe restaurant, the workers every one of them are giving 150% working hard.My compliments to them. One thing that I've noticed and it's very negative is that the prices have jumped up, which has happened in a lot of places, but this is a little extreme. For example, they had a senior menu. They cut out approximately 1/2 of their senior menu, which is ridiculous. A lot of the locals come there and many are seniors the options on the menu amount to almost nothing for seniors now.. BRILLIANT SND THOUGHTFUL! Example on the regular breakfast menu they HAD a chicken fried steak it was a big chicken fried steak like all the other breakfast restaurants in the area now when you order that you get a small chicken fried steak, which was originally from the seniors menu a very downsized small chicken fried steak. Once again that chicken fried steak is not available on the senior menu instead they're using that small chicken fried steak for the regular menu. You're paying almost double and getting 1/2 of the value. CHEAP!! Also, throughout the casino, it always reeks of cigarettes smoke at one point I thought it was a very nice casino. Now I think it's rundown. Nobody really cares about anything. They're very few employees working the floor. The escalators going upstairs are always broken my opinion of the nice casino is now that it's turned into a dump!
