Because of that familiarity, I sometimes forget to slow down and acknowledge just how hard these ladies work. Every visit, they show up with genuine smiles and a clear dedication to doing their jobs well--and it shows. Shannon, the Shift Manager (pictured), and Dez, the Property Manager (not pictured), do a fantastic job hosting the weekly drawings and always manage to make them fun and engaging. Jen, the bartender (not pictured), will happily serve up your beer, spirits, or whatever your poison of choice may be--hopefully they've got your favorite on hand. And last but definitely not least, Maria (PM) (pictured) deserves a huge shout-out for keeping the casino floor and restrooms absolutely spotless. It never goes unnoticed. The casino itself is non-smoking, which is a big plus, but there is a designated smoking area out back. In the winter, the fireplace adds a really nice, cozy touch. Between the weekly drawings, men's and women's appreciation days, swipe/free play days, and bingo, there's always something going on. Definitely worth checking out--especially if great customer service matters to you as much as it does to me.

My 1200th review! And what better way than to review one of the better hotels that I have been to…read more I've stayed in just about everything over the decades; from the rinky-dink roach motels in the middle of nowhere to the more elaborate high-end hotels with premium valet service and high thread count sheets. This takes me to the city of Fernley, Nevada (about 30 minutes east of Reno on I-80) where my lady and I booked a one-night stay at "SureStay by Best Western - Fernley" from Friday 6/19/2026 to Saturday 6/20/26. Since I made the reservation via-Priceline (which I have booked a ton of trips with), this simplified the whole process. Total cost which included tax + XCover Protection came out to around $135. We arrived around 6:45pm as finding this place through Google maps was a breeze. Once parked, we made our way into the front lobby, provided the front desk receptionist with my last name, and we were given two key cards complete with the Wi-Fi password; all in less than 2 minutes! Once we entered our room, it smelled clean and came fully equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, 40" LED TV, king size bed w/four plush pillows, two nightstands w/lights on each side/charging ports, plenty of storage with two full size dressers, and a closet for hanging your clothes. The bathroom included an iron/ironing board, a 15-minute light timer, and excellent hot water pressure for the shower. Out of all of the amenities, everything exceeded my expectations with the exception of the heater/air conditioner as that was a bit loud and the TV which lacked many channels but no big deal as we were only there for a night. The exterior grounds were well-lit after dark and felt quite safe. I was able to park my vehicle directly outside of our room as this hotel had 24-hour surveillance cameras. One very positive perk was the swimming pool which was enclosed and climate-controlled at around 105°F. This may sound scorching hot but once in the pool, it made the whole experience quite enjoyable; especially since I love swimming. I took advantage of swimming on both Friday evening and Saturday morning. Finally, the complimentary breakfast options were quite amazing as they offered scrambled eggs, country potatoes, sliced ham, oatmeal, toast, muffins, yogurt, cereal, hot cocoa, coffee (w/creamer packets, half & half, sugar), tea, apple/orange juices, and waffles (on Sundays only). I also wanted to add that they have a decent working ice machine and vending machine. The primary reason why I booked this particular hotel was that it was much less pricey than many of the hotels in Reno. I also wanted to add that you have a ton of retail businesses & eateries, all within less than a mile. This includes a Walmart, Dollar Tree, Panda Express, KFC, Domino's Pizza, Raley's, Starbucks, a tire shop, and even a couple of casinos. My lady and I went to the Silverado Casino (only about 1/2 mile away) and ate at the Ranch House Restaurant. With the excellent service, competitive price, amenities, and close proximity to gas, food, and services, I am giving the "SureStay by Best Western - Fernley" an above average four-star rating.

The lady from the front desk is such a rude human, if you ask for something except an attitude to fallow. The kitchen was horrible god forbid you have serious surgery and need to bring food back to your room. The kitchen lady is the absolute worst person I have ever came across, truly have no idea how she even works for people a hotel . She screams at you if you need to bring food back to your room. Not normal behavior at all. What if the small area had no where to sit? Where do you go? Your room you would think but here its a huge problem. We had 13 people all together not in one room. So bringing some food back would give other guests a place to sit an enjoy there food. Only 4 small tables... She was an absolute nightmare to deal with. If u want to just throw your money away and leave disappointed come here. The website is soo miss leading we were excited at first but when u pull up it just gets worse and worse. Just like the other reviews say just keep driving the extra 30, its so much better. clean, better sleep, no nasty smells, no nasty attitude ... oh and you can bring food back to you room without a fus.

We met our tour guide, Fanci, at Cafe Whitney at 11am. She was great and gave us some interesting facts about the Whitney Peak Hotel building while we had delicious ahi tuna tacos with a wonton shell. From there we walked over to Crafted Palette. We had not known about this place and what a hidden gem. We had an amazing wellington pie and a cherry pie. Crafted Palette features local artists and offers sip and paint classes. From there we went to Wild River Grille where we had amazing bruschetta and pork belly. The GM also gave us a great tour of the building and some of the history behind the restaurant and the apartments above, once a hotel (Marilyn Monroe was a guest while filming The Misfits!) We next journeyed to Papa What's Cooking for red beans and rice, with a side of cornbread. Both excellent. Finally, we wrapped up the day at Sierra Bakery and Creamery, where the owner creates all the ice cream recipes himself and we were able to chat with him. Great guy and great ice cream and treats. My friend wound up buying a quart to take home. Reno Food Tours is a great way to spend an afternoon. Our guide, Fanci, was great and gave us lots of fun facts about various buildings and some historical information and lore surrounding the biggest little city. The restaurant stops are the tour do change up every so often so we definitely decided we would go again. Highly recommend as a fun way to enjoy the city of Reno.
