So I had paid 18$ for a shower. I had to go out to my car to find my hygiene and clean clothes . My car being packed due to going to my storage, taking things out to put into my car therefore I had to dig everything out an well when I went back in to take my shower it wouldn't show me what shower room I was supposed to be in . I had went and asked if they could help me and little did I know these showers time out after like 30 minutes . I was told to go talk to the lady that was cleaning the showers . I did as I was instructed and this lady was awful right from the start to me from when telling her my situation . Very very rude , started yelling at me and she shockingly said, " I'm not gonna loose my job over some loser trying to get a free shower "!. I had my receipt (the proof ) in my hand and she refused to look at it . I ended up telling her what a rude unprofessional employee that she was , that just made her start yelling even more . This RUDE & INCONSIDERATE Employees name is AMANDA. I've never been treated so poorly at any public place in my life ! As I went back to the front to explain what had happened , the lady up front even tried to reason with Amanda to open up one of the showers but instead of being any kind of decent, rational individual she started to explain her side of the story which was all switched up and not the truth at all. I unfortunately didn't get the lady working as the cashier in the store that was very polite and tried to help me out with my situation but Thank You I used to love coming to Alamo/Petro especially when I needed to pay for a shower very very sad as I will never be coming back again for anything & I don't recommend it to others due to how I was treated also Its very unprofessional that it's not mandatory for their employees to be wearing their name tags on shift ! read more

This place is a great stop. I was in to meet a friend for coffee and we ended up having these giant pancakes. The server was one of the friendliest people I have met in awhile and she was fun to talk with. The entire casino is set up for social distancing and runs well. They also offer a number of services for truckers including laundry and showers. Overall the place is clean. I will be back here next time I'm in that area. read more

It's a cozy little spot. Poker table tends to be busy throughout the night. Blackjack table has too many rules and the dealers have little to no etiquette which brings out of having very little fun. The bar is nice. Didn't get to try the food but the food looks mediocre when glancing over at orders. More or less, they don't have PPV! A decent (6.7/10) place to shut down and kill some time but be cautious of the tweakers that do roam around. read more

LOVE this Casino! My kind of place. Ride with my husband and we stopped here and stayed in the hotel for a few days, and then returned in for another 4-5 days. Came into the casino several times a day, breakfast buffet at the Iron Skillet was really good. Also had a steak which was delicious. Friendly service and staff in the casino. Lots of machines, and we enjoyed ourselves a little too much if that's possible. Played the blackjack table several times. We won some, and lost some. Mostly sat at the bar playing the other machines, and drinking of course. It's nice that you can smoke inside. There is also a hair salon, CB shop, laundry room, and convenience store. Lots of parking in a well lit area. Definitely felt safe here. Problem is you have so much fun, you don't want to leave! Looking forward to returning when back in the area. So...I am not a trucker, nor am I a lot lizard. From my vantage point I don't have much use for a truck stop other than to occasionally get gas. This one just happens to be a block away from my office. In any event, today I ventured inside for an insiders view of the Alamo. Things I learned today include the following: There are truckers of all walks of life here. There are hookers working the lot. Conveniently, there is a motel attached to the business. Did I mention drinking, gambling and smoking? Romantic dark lighting abounds the inside. They can wash your rig and you can park your rig right here in one of 400 well lit parking spaces. While you get your truck washed, how about a shower? They claim to be "hospital clean". I don't care to know or see the showers unless my water heater goes out and its the last shower in Reno. You can wine and dine at the restaurant. Do you need to get your hair did or your ladyfriend's hair did, they got a salon! Not much of a gift shop to buy something Purdy. Might need to go elsewhere. Got a CB or need a CB to talk to your good buddy, they got a CB shop. How about a doctor? You may need one. They got you covered. You can even get a physical. Tempting isn't it? They even have a chiropractor here! I guess if the need is there, they got you covered. Based on all of the amenities I give this place a solid 2 stars because they have a bunch to offer and cater to a certain clientele. I just don't care for the atmosphere and doesn't do much for me. Be sure to ask to see the basement in the Alamo! I'm sure it will be the most exciting part of the tour. read more

I actually like this casino. But I dropped a star because of the horrible, disconcerting customer service (if the woman who confronted me even worked there!) First the things I like: It's a small, but clean casino/hotel/market, restaurant/shower station/hair salon that caters to truckers and commuters. When I lived in that area last year, I would sometimes pop in before work. The servers were always friendly, ready with a big bottle of water. I always felt comfortable there. I never tried the food in the restaurants, but it always smelled good. However, yesterday morning I had an unexpectedly rude experience: I had been playing a machine that was $6 a spin. On my second spin, I got some free games and the machine gave me back over $400. Nice win, but not even a hand pay. I went to the only exchange machine to cash out. I made my exchange then went to sit down at an empty machine. The machines around me were empty too. As I was putting my winnings in my 'winnings wallet', a young women confronted me and demanded to see my ID. At the same time, a big , older lady with a bad 'bee-hive' hair cut plopped down on the machine next to me and proceeded to just stare! I told the younger one that I was well over 21, so why did she want to see my ID? She said she had the authority to do so, and demanded to see my ID. I made her wait as I was securing my funds in my cross body bag (which never leaves my side in a casino) and proceeded to get my ID out. She took a look at it and then said thanks. But with the most condescending attitude. Such bad customer service! I wonder how they torture customers who win real $$?? read more

WOW! Unbelievable service. I'm stuck in the area for the whole weekend. I get a beer at a table in the bar finished it then went to the bar and asked for another beer. The bartender said " You either pay your tab or switch it over." I said you can switch. She got me one and told the waitress. (Both seemed unhappy.) I continued to drink my beer and over heard the bartender say that I wasn't playing. The bartender then went on break. The waitress watched to bar. I asked to pay my tab so I can get a card to play the games. I also asked for another beer. 15 minutes later I got my tab of two beers and no refill. I told the bartender that I asked for another beer and she said I need to speak up. (I did, miscommunication.)She was very dry the whole time. Wow ok. I paid and got $300 out of the ATM for the blackjack tables. I asked how to get drinks and they called for cocktails. I played for awhile and they switched dealers I then said "I guess I'll go to the bar to get a drink.".He said "sit down". He then asked for cocktails. Again the dealers call was unanswered... I started to grab my chips and he said "sit down, I will make sure you get a drink". I said no, cash me out. I cashed out my chips and asked for a manager at the service desk. He didn't get one and said he would get me a drink. No thanks! Never again!! The employees have terrible attitudes and seem to hate their jobs. Customer service is apparently not important. I'm sure you are flooded by truck drivers and don't need to have it to keep the business going. Location is the apparent only key here. So here I am, sitting in yet another truck stop yet this isn't one of my transcontinental road trips (motorcycle is in the shop getting fixed about 10 minutes away). There are some really nice truck stops (Wyoming) and there are some pits (no comment). First I wander in, get my hair cut by a nice lady named Giselle. I walk out with a good hair cut, no muss nor fuss nor a wait for a Saturday, a good conversation and a much better price - $12. Second, hit the restroom. Bright (well lit), plenty of paper towels and best of all, smelled clean. Third, I want some breakfast. It's now 9:20AM and I'm hungry for some eggs. So off to the Iron Skillet I go. Ewww (in a good way) buffet. Real slabs of bacon (not thin slice, but slabs) with biscuits, gravy, eggs, breakfast burritos, french toast, salad bar, etc. And then I'm back for seconds. Love the ever flowing coffee. Fourth, it's always good to hear laughter, the service folks having a good time and the greeting of people by their first names. Makes for a much friendly experience and overall, it's a very positive atmosphere. Friendly waitress, Carmen. Always stopping by (not interrupting!) and seeing how things are going. Great great great. Overall, pretty good. Got some chores out of the way, some work done and a belly full of good food. Going to walk out spending less than $40 and be very happy about it. read more

They can talk to you which is helpful, some casinos only allow mutes. Played with 80 bucks got up to 375,got inpatient and lost it within 15 minutes. I've given it several chances now, based upon it's reputation as a "locals" casino. However, haven't won so much as a plug nickel here ever. Almost comical in a diabolical sense how fast this casino can part you with your money. Don't let that down-home, folksy trucker stop image fool you. Maybe the house reasoning is to rake the truckers and send them packing as quickly as possible? Who knows, but time to find a different gig. As of this review, Blackjack still pays 3-2, but they've cut other favorable rules such as doubling on any first 2 cards. They also used to have a small number of manual-reel slots, which they've abandoned for all-video multi-liners. There now seems to be a better play-value at even the larger resort properties over this one. The adjacent Super 8 Motel lacks and isn't a good value either. Nexxxxxt. read more

Ok so we had a gas leak in our house and the gas got turned off until the next day when someone could come out to look at it. The kids and I needed showers for work and school the next day. So I took them here to take a shower. So as I'm telling the guy at the counter what happened. He was more than happy to help us with getting set up. I guess when you are a trucker you have some kind of points, card, token, something that makes it easier to get a shower there then what I had to do. I didnt know what to expect walking into them but they were really clean and very well kept. They were as nice as going to some hotels, but way cheaper for just the uses of a shower. When we got to the shower area we started talking to one of the guys who worked there and he changed our shower to the largest one that they had. It was really nice of him. They had nice clean towels just like you would find at a hotel. (we had brought our own) they had a built in hair dryer, soap, shampoo just like at a hotel. The kids thought this was great! The staff was great! There was also a casino, restaurant and a gas station. read more

First off, I'm a local. Drink at the bar quite often and the ladies over there are great!!! My complaint is with the food! Had beef tacos about a year ago, they were cold and gnats came out of the meat. NOT GOOD. Told Management and some changes were taking place. Haven't considered eating there again until today. My very first time at this shit hole of a casino, I went into the convenient store that's connected to the casino with my 4 year old child to pick my husband up when Sherryl (a pit manager) came up into my face yelling that she would call the police on me if I didnt leave the property with my child and she would give me 1000$ fine. I never was on the casino floor with my child I was in the convenient store. She was cursing and yelling and making threats to me in front of my kid and husband. A poker dealer ray told me to report her to Brett who runs the poker table. Another dealer seema, doesnt even know the rules of poker and allows unacceptable things to happen at the table. People will bet and then take their chips back after they already made the bet which is illegal and then she allows other people who aren't in the hand to talk. My friend and I visiting Reno yeaterday. We decided to stop and see what Alamo is all about. The waitress this ahort thing and very skinny was taking our orders. I ordered seabreeze and told her how to make it. She brings me my drink that looks like seabreeze. I tasted it and it was not what I ordered. It had pineapple. I quickly got her attention to let her know im allerfic to pineaaple. What did she do brings me malibu rum with pineapple and splash of cranberry. We were done with her at that point We asked for check and she charged us extra for drinks and didnt even bring back the amount of money she was supposed. When my friend asked how much my drinks were she said $6 bucks for each even though she messed up big. So he told her no. It was supposed to be house vodka and she argued no its supposed to be rum. Nothing really negative or overly positive to say about this place. It is your typical Petro truckstop but with a small casino added on. It offers the usual buffet restaurant that at times can be good but don't go in expecting great. Petros used to be the best place along the highway to stop for a meal but over the past 4-5 years it seems to have gone down hill a bit. The showers are nice and always clean which is a plus. But for the most part all Petros (and their partner TA) consistently have the nicest showers. I should note that I haven't used Pilot or Loves showers in quite some time so they may have improved. The laundry room is small but most of the time not crowded. All the washers amd dryers work great. No need to go thru multiple drying cycles to get a load dry which, if you've ever used other truckstop facilities you know what I'm talking about. There is also a nice, large tv room located upstairs with plenty of seating. There is also a Dr that has an office upstairs if you need to update your DOT physical. I have never used the service so can't speak to quality or price. Downstairs there is also a cb shop and barber shop. Again, I haven't used either so they may be tops and they may stink. The lady that cuts hair almost always has a customer so I'm guessing she's good. The cb shop seems to be closed all the time so (or at least when I'm there). The casino seems to be pretty nice for a truckstop. It offers table games-poker, blackjack, craps- and tons of slot machines. There is also a Gaming center there so if you like to play the horses or bet a game you can do it here. Otherwise just grab a large advance and strike it rich at one of the games. I'm sure you will have better luck than me. If not you can drown your sorrows at the small bar that is in the casino. The lot is pretty good size so you can almost always find a spot to park. All in all I like this place. It's clean, friendly staff and always good for a laugh just people watching. read more

We were staying at the hotel next door and went to the casino to gamble. We had been playing for awhile and wanted a drink. No one had come around so I found a male employee and asked about getting a drink. He sent the cocktail waitress over and we got a drink. A long time had gone by again and the cocktail waitress was nowhere in sight. My husband went to ask for the waitress so we could get another drink. We were told by that same male employee at the casino for the waitress and he rudely said you don't just get drinks around here every 10 mins that's not how it works. My husband told him that it had been way longer than that and he said oh well, again that's not how it works, you don't get free drinks whenever you want them. We were blown away by his statement and rudeness. We have gambled at other casinos before and have never had to request a waitress or waited for a waitress to come by to ask if we needed anything. Don't waste you time or money at this casino. What a horrible experience. read more
