Ok, so I feel like my arm was turned into giving this a higher rating than what I felt it deserved. We were up in Gainesville doing Marketing for my company, and one of the guys suggested this as the lunch spot. I've heard about Atlas pizza before and had never tried it. Word on the street is that this place is the best pizza around. It sits in the town square of Gainesville near the rotary. Parking sucked, and was hard to find. I drove the circle 3 times and pulled off 3 side roads before finally nestling into a business parking lot 3 blocks away. Walking in, it was packed. Thankfully we got a booth. We started with cheesy bread. It was certainly cheesy and greasy. The marinara was decent but they don't give you enough for all that bread. It basically was a big cheese pizza cut up into strips and had a side of garlic butter too. Not bad, not the best. I ordered a medium pizza with jalapeños and pineapple. It came out with tons of cheese and decent helpings of the toppings. It was pretty good, but it was not the hype I expected. I listened to my co-workers rave the entire time over the meal and I really ranked it maybe a notch above papa johns (which is still good). I felt pressured on this review where I would've given them a 3 (which is still good). I liked the oversized drinking cups and our waiter did great (although it does bother me when people don't write down my order - I served for 5 years, it's easy to forget something). I still think mellow mushroom is better, and Campanias is the best. Overall, good stop for pizza and the pricing isn't bad at all. Oh my!! My taste buds jumped with joy with every single bite!! I'd first tasted this pizza when a coworker shared a slice. Since then I've had it many times more. Pure greatness! First visit I dined at the restaurant. Breezy day to sit outside but the heaters helped! Each time I get the same pizza. Cali Veggie, the best veggie pizza I've had in a long time! I've tried it as a calzone before but definitely prefer the pizza. All of my visits were pick up after the initial. Their Cobb Salad is complete greatness too. I always get the side Cobb. It has blue cheese crumbles on it but I always get the blue cheese dressing as well. Sooo good! For a side salad, it's pretty big. I've ordered it alone and been completely satisfied with how much it is. Their quesadillas are banging! Comes with chicken, grilled onions and jalapeños. Served with sour cream and salsa. Not sure what made me order it one time but it's great! I've tried the pizza with the salmon on it as well. Not a fan but my friend liked it. A bit "fishy" tasting for me. I've only had one negative experience with them. A bunch of coworkers and I ordered for delivery. I want to say it was 5 or 6 of us. For some reason they thought it would be ok to charge each person a deliver fee. No thank you. Not sure if that's normal or if it was an off day. This same day, more than half of the orders were wrong and my debit card was way over charge. All that but still a 5 star review. read more

By far the best pizza in Gainesville. Calzones are huge and very flavorful. My favorite item is their Cobb salad with blue cheese!

We love pizza! So much so that this is where my son chose to celebrate his 5th birthday. They were able to accommodate a table of 12 with their online reservations. Food was hot and yummy. Dinner 10/05/21. We enjoyed a great pizza at Atlas Pizza. It was a rainy evening so we ate inside. They have a large number of outdoor tables for days with better weather. The pizza was loaded with pepperoni, mushrooms and lots of cheese. They are generous with the sauce too, which we like. The crust was chewy and garlicky. Nothing I don't like about this place except maybe the crowd. Kind of to be expected when it is so good. It is one of those eclectic pizza joints you kind of hope to have at any historic downtown. Only most of the time they are some chain place. This is the real deal. Don't know if in our handful of trips we have found anything they don't do well. Pizzas, calzones, sandwiches and salads. All highly recommended. No draft beer - ok maybe that is a minus but they usually have something decent in a bottle or can. Chips, no fries. Not a deal breaker for me. Seating can be interesting if you have more than 4 which we always seem to have. Parking is also interesting at key times. Still love this place. read more

About a year ago, we are at Atlas a few times (early Fall of 2022). The pizza was as good as ANY I had ever tasted. Put since then, it has been very average. New cook? They began putting too much toppings on the pizza which sounds like a good thing but just overpowered the crust which is what made their pizza so far above average. We have sadly gradually switched to other pizza places. read more

As a pizza place owner for the past 20 years, I know that customer service is very important. I love going to pizza places and trying different recipes. The waitress we had was very rude and condescending! We ordered a large pizza with bacon and pineapple on one 1/2 and veggie on the other 1/2. The waitress put in the WRONG order. We got bacon and pineapple on 1/2 and the supreme with meat on the other 1/2. When we told the waitress about her mistake, she ADMITTED she made the mistake and took the pizza back to have them make a new one. I would have give that pizza to the customer and have a new one made. That was not the case. Instead, we got the 1/2 of our old pizza that was made 30 minutes prior and the new 1/2 of our veggie pizza. How do I know? Because, 1/2 of our pizza, the bacon and pineapple was well done while the other 1/2 was barely done! Then we got charged per item for substituting items on our veggie pizza. So our bill looks like we added items instead of substituting the items. Needless to say, I WILL NEVER BE BACK NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOUR PIZZA IS! Customer service is very important. Came in for dinner one night and liked Atlas. There was a wait so we walked around the square but the wait was very short even though they said it would be longer. The pizza was good and there was cold beer to wash it down. Only downside to Atlas for me was there seemed to be a ventilation issue with smoke seemingly hanging out in the restaurant the entire time we were there. Other than the smoky environment I have no other issues with the service and food. read more

Atlas was a magical Road Trip mishap that we would never take back!!! The place in Athens we had planned to stop at was closed..and then we found Atlas Pizza...wonderful, delicious Atlas Pizza, in the gorgeous downtown Gainesville! Our group came in hungry and ready to destroy some pizza! We were seated right away even though it was packed! We ordered some cheesy sticks to split as an Appetizer. They were delicious!! We cleaned them right up! They also came with marinara and garlic butter suave...both fantastic!!! Next we ordered our main meals, only to find out that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! I had the Meats Small Pizza, my husband had the Philly Calzone, my friend had the Greek Medium Pizza, and her husband had another calzone...needless to say we all left with to go boxes! The food was SO good, but we ordered so so much and refused to waste it! We believe that this may have been some of the best pizza and calzones we have ever had! For college I was doing a social experiment on how people treat people everywhere I went I had to make conversations, give compliments, critic if ask and point is can relationships be worth more than money and power. This is a great Italian place the food is good, and the prices are fair. The cheesy bread is delicious. They also have big salads which I love. The sauce and the pizza are good. The waiter that I got was very good. What is wrong with this place? It would be nice if they put a lighter salad on the menu with turkey, eggs, and all the vegetables. Before you go, I would say keep in mind everywhere is short staffed and everyone is trying their best with the people they have. We've gone several times during peak hours and it has been crowded with a long wait, but every waitress we had was always going, going, going. Be patient or just stay at home and cook yourself. Now onto the food. The Greek Pizza has become my go-to. That one thing I can order each time and each time it slaps. The Thai and potato pizza are good but in my opinion the Greek is just superior. Anytime we have gone the service has been so courteous and accommodating. It's just one of those spots where everyone flocks too then I see people get fussy about the wait.
