Instead of going to the usual place, Keg, my husband and i decided to try out Atlas for dinner prime rib. Plus we had a 2 for 1 prime rib coupon sent to us in the mail through the encore players club, so it definitely didn't take too much convincing for us to give this place a try! It was great that they have online rersevation on their site. As soon as we arrived we were seated. For dinner we had the grilled calamari and we each had a generous 10 ounce piece of prime rib that came along with potatoes and yorkshire pudding. Appy and the main were both very good! Meat was tender and they even gave us extra hot gravy because our meat was getting cold. Service is outstanding here! Very attentive and accomadating. Atlas has a strong social media presence and I was excited to try when my boyfriend and I decided to visit for an early Christmas dinner. He had visited previously and thought the food was great so we ordered the tomahawk steak with scallops, tempura crab, mashed potatoes as sides, and the poke as a starter. The ambience was nice - there was live piano music and while I didn't find it too loud I did feel for some of the other guests who were seated directly next to the piano. We asked for the steak to be served medium rare and they executed perfectly. The biggest issue we had here, was the fat not being rendered properly before being served. For a $120 steak, pre-sliced into approximately 13 pieces, I would say about 5-6 pieces were completely inedible as 3/4 of the length or more, were all fat!! Yes it was seared perfectly but who wants to eat a big chunk of fat on any given day? We only found out that the chef is supposed to render it off when we mentioned our experience to a friend who has experience with cooking steak... if we hadn't asked I would have been left expecting that when you order a tomahawk cut you're paying to have a good portion of it inedible. I wish I had taken some pictures to show what we received. When the server cleared our dishes, she asked us twice if we wanted to pack the leftover steak (aka. the seared fat) and seemed shocked when we politely declined. This definitely left us feeling disappointed in our selection and while the scallops were perfect and the soft shell crab delicious, overall we weren't as excited as we had been when we arrived. I still have a gift card to use up but after that I probably wouldn't come back again. The rest of the food (including the edible parts of the steak) was fine other than poor steak execution, hence 3 stars. read more

A pricey nice out but a decent steakhouse. We had a $100 gift certificate from a gift basket that we won at a silent auction. We went as a party for two. I didn't realize that the restaurant was basically I told the Delta casino. We went in to the casino and then discovered that the restaurant was actually just outside of the casino... so not easy to locate. But we made it! We kept it simple with two appies, two entrees, one side and a couple of glasses of wine. We started with the Lobster Bisque and the Steak Tartare. I enjoyed the bisque - it was flavourful, I liked the dash of roe, and the smoky flavour from the seared scallop was great. I would probably pass on ordering it again. The Steak Tartare was delicious! I'd recommend getting that - and we would order it again if we came. They also served a delicious and fresh oven baked bread. So good. The restaurant boosts that they have the only Josper oven in the city (which I have not verified). It is a Mexican-style, mesquite part grill and part oven. Steaks and a selection of fish are cooked in the oven. I had the New York Strip-lion. It was good but not necessarily distinct or memorable. Even typing this, I can't remember anything uniquely flavourful about the Josper cooked steak. My wife had the Tuna Provençal - Josper style grilled tuna. She really enjoyed it. The dish was a healthy portion of ahi tuna, Mediterranean style vegetables, and a potatoes. A really good dish. We supplemented with a serving of the truffle fries, which were pricey but yummy! Worth the splurge. There was a great selection of quality wine as well. I had a glass of the Bordeaux and my wife had the Inniskillin Cab Sav. Had a great experience last year going to a Dine Out Vancouver restaurant on my birthday so I decided to go to a different one this year. Made the reservations 2 weeks before we actually came to this place and I was very excited. Overall, food was perfect. Our appetizer was flavourful, steak was perfectly cooked, and dessert tasted so good. If only I would rate the restaurant based on their dishes, it would get a 10/10. HOWEVER. The service here was so bad and this is probably the worst customer service I had ever experienced. So we were waiting for our main course (which took 30 minutes to go out from the kitchen AFTER we finished our appetizers) but we're not complaining or anything, me and my siblings were just talking to each other when all of a sudden, our server goes to us and literally stared at me (I didn't call her). So I simply said "oh we're just waiting for our food" while smiling and she told me something about how they cook their food on the spot (which is good) BUT she also told me how "sorry this restaurant is not a fast food restaurant" and we were all so shocked. I was so offended by her comment but I just smiled and nodded cause I don't really want to bring it up to her for saying that because I know how busy she might be. But then she continued to disrespect us the entire time and continued her rude behaviour towards us and I was very pissed by the end of the night we had to talk to the manager. She then came to us after she talked to her manager and didn't even say sorry about her attitude and she told her manager that we were lying and that wasn't what she said. Our friend then talked to her alone and she was still denying the entire thing and didn't even say a single sorry and she was smiling at us while she's walking away. I can't believe that the management is not doing anything about it and the manager simply couldn't talk to her properly. I was so disappointed about it. Would NEVER go back here again. read more

I took my mom here for an early Mother's Day dinner. Overall experience was 5/5. We live close by and would definitely come back again. The complimentary bread was baked fresh in a cast iron pan and very good. For the 2 people we ordered: - 5/5 Baby Kale and Spinach salad. The salad was prepare at the table. It was a semi warm salad since the ingredients were sautéed and then put on top of the greens. In late 2017, Atlas Steak + Fish took over the former location of EBO in the Grand Villa Casino to bring us an upscale steak and seafood house centred around their specially designed, mesquite-fueled, Josper grill. Arriving early on the weekend for their dinner service, we got a very nice table which faced out towards the piano and bar area. We were pleasantly surprised to have a pianist playing a mix of pop hits while we dined and we had a fun time trying to guess the names of the various songs he was interpreting with his own style. After reviewing their tablet which contained their drink menu, we opted for the Imperial Pear ($8 for a single) and Zen Cucumber ($8 for a single), both of which were quite refreshing. Our friendly server also brought us out some pan bread with blue cheese butter. Let me tell you, this bread was really good! I didn't want to get too full on the bread but it was served warm in the cast iron pan and had a nice, light crispness to the exterior while the insides were fluffy and perfect with the creamy blue cheese butter. While you can get your Caesar Salad ($14) prepared tableside if you have at least 2 orders, we didn't really want 2 salads so we just opted for 1 salad (which isn't prepared tableside). It was a good thing too because this was a rather large salad that we wound up sharing between the two of us. This was a fairly traditional Caesar salad with heart of romaine, parmegiano-reggiano cheese, and a light Caesar dressing. If you enjoy steak and seafood, you'll have no problem finding something you like here. As with most traditional steakhouses, sides are extra so you have to give some thought as to what should accompany your main. The West Coast Bouillabaisse ($30) was simply amazing! The seafood here (including black tiger prawns, mussels, clams, salmon, and rock fish) all tasted so fresh and I loved how big and plump the mussels were. But the real winner here was the rich and creamy San Marzano tomato and lobster broth. For our side dish, we picked the Josper Roasted Vegetables ($8) which had a nice mix of asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, and Brussels sprouts. Not exactly a "wow" dish but we felt we needed to get some veggies in our meal. This is what I came for... the 16oz Chili Rubbed Cowboy Rib Steak ($65) from 40-day aged certified angus beef. They recommended that it be prepared "medium" due to the amount of marbling but I asked for "medium-rare" and I'm glad I did. It was cooked perfectly and sat on a "warm potato salad" which really isn't what you think it is. The meat was so tender, juicy, and flavourful... damn! Even though we were super full, we opted for dessert. They're known for their baked Alaska but we needed something a bit lighter so we went with the Frozen Trio ($10) which turned out to be Early Grey Ice Cream, Peach Sorbet, and Dulce Gelato with strawberries and pineapple. Overall, dinner here was really good and the atmosphere was great for a date night. I think part of the appeal for us was the table location as we were able to do a bit of people watching and we weren't too close to the piano that it was too loud (we did see a number of diners seated at tables that surrounded the piano eventually move to quieter tables) but we were close enough to be able to see him tickling the ivories. We came back to try their lunch service in mid-December and managed to sit in the same lounge area. We were lucky that the same piano player was there so we enjoyed our meal with some live music. First off... drinks! We liked the Zen Cucumber last time so we ordered it again and paired it with an El Diablo with Sauza Silver Tequila, blackberry carbonated ginger ale. As it was close to Christmas-time, they had a winter set menu available ($35 for 3 course meal) which included this Butternut Squash Salad as well as a main course of turkey breast with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts and dessert. The squash was quite tender but made for a filling appy. I decided to order from their regular lunch menu because I wanted to try the Lobster Bisque ($10) served with seared scallop and roe. To be honest, I think this soup lacked the rich lobstery punch that I'm used to and the flavour was too muted. The Turkey Breast turned out pretty good and I've always got a soft spot for Brussels sprouts. Odd since I never enjoyed them as a kid. For my main, I opted with the Mussels and Frites ($19) OMG, these frites were amazing! They had a nice crispness to the exterior and they were sprinkled with a cheesy mayo-type dressing. The mussels were served in a cast iron skillet and accompanied with chorizo in a tomatoey broth. For the dessert in the 3-course meal, they brought out Crème Brûlée with Chocolate-Dipped Biscotti. Overall, I've been quite pleased by the meals that I've had at Atlas. Personally, I prefer the dinner menu offering and enjoy the live entertainment that they have in the lounge. read more

I was quite happy with my experience here with my family. It has a high-end ambiance but they don't treat you that way. However, the prices are a little up there. Our server was very attentive and patient and was very approachable. From looking around at other guests, kitchen staff is more than willing to come out and answer any questions as well. I was happily surprised to know they started their done-our season menu earlier than the official start date! My family ordered a variety of dishes, and I was thoroughly impressed with the both the visual and palatable quality of the food. There was a bit of a hiccup in one of them, but it was dealt with swiftly and very professionally as you would expect from a place like this. I ordered the striploin form the dine-out menu and it had a little too much of a spicy kick to it for my personal taste but it was still very well balanced with the rest of the plate. Our first time here was fantastic! We came to celebrate a birthday, and our server was amazing. She provided lots of great insight on the menu and gave us some food recommendations. We ordered the Angus Beef Tomahawk Steak as one of our main courses, and the Baked Alaska for dessert. The Tomahawk was super tender and juicy; it was cooked to perfection. This was supposed to be great a pre-thanksgiving dinner with my family. Turned out to be below our expectations on this night though. I would usually come here during lunch for my business meetings and it has always been a great experience, but going on evenings of weekends is probably not a good idea....The restaurant was quite packed this evening. The evening started well. We were seated in less than 5 minutes and our server did very well in taking our orders. She served the usual bread and blue cheese butter to begin with. The bread was moist and warm so it's something that most people would surely love. Then things started to go downwards. It took approximately 30 minutes of wait from the time we finished our bread till we got our steak. Then when we got our order my prime rib was no longer warm. I think the kitchen had to prepare a lot for that huge group at the end of the restaurant that they cooked all the steak together. I noticed that some steak sitting on the counter waiting for the servers to get them and serve them to the tables. Nothing against our server because she was awesome and was very helpful, but I felt that since the restaurant was full and there was a huge group then the steaks weren't served right away. I didn't mind complaining about my steak anymore since I didn't want to wait for another 30 minutes. Anyway, we spent more than $160 here. Serving size was very decent for the price, but the long wait plus my cold steak affected my feeling towards this restaurant. And the dessert also came quite slow as well. All in all, took us 2 hours from the time we came in till we left. I just hope that this is not the usual case during dinner here, otherwise people would shy away from this place. What a great steakhouse experience! Kind of a splurge especially for a restaurant outside of downtown but portions and values well worth the dollar. We had the tomahwak to share between 3 with 3 sides to share are we were stuffed! The complimentary bread was a plus since the steak takes about 40 minutes to prepare. Service was amazing, Bridgette our server was pleasant and paid attention to the things we mentioned. When we had told her we weren't a fan of the blue cheese butter she brought out traditional butter and mentioned that our Mac n cheese had blue cheese and suggested we request for a different cheese. We wouldn't have realized this if she didn't mentioned it and though it was really great she paid attention and suggested an alternative. I was here for an anniversary dinner. We were seated after a short wait. After we placed our order, I realized many of the customers ordered tableside salads and desserts. There was also tableside service for the peppercorn sauce (certain steak orders). This is definitely a place worth visiting if you want a food presentation during your meal. We started off with complimentary bread and a side of blue cheese infused butter. I found it interesting that the restaurant would serve that flavour of butter. I did enjoy the combination. For appetizers, we shared some kusshi oysters, steak tartare and lobster bisque. The oysters were fresh and kusshi oysters are my favourite oysters for their clean and delicate taste. The side of lemon was wrapped to prevent seeds from falling into the oysters when you squeezed the lemon. Nice touch to details there. The steak tartare was very good and went well with the crispy fried dough (gnocco fritto). Lobster bisque was smooth and creamy. The seared scallop was a nice touch although I would have loved a piece of lobster as well. Scallop was cooked perfectly. For my main dish, I ordered the Bay Area cioppino which was a good medley of seafood in a tomato broth. By this part of the meal, I was too full to enjoy soaking the broth in some bread. I did take a bite of the basil crostini but I think bread would have been a great option if my stomach was a bit larger. I took a bite off the tomahawk pork chop that my husband ordered and it was moist and tender. For dessert, we shared a baked Alaska after people watching a number of customers ordering the dessert. It was neat to watch our dessert prepared at tableside. The baked Alaska filling of lemon sorbet and raspberry coconut ice cream was delectable and by far the best prepared baked Alaska I have tried in recent memory. The service was top notch throughout our meal. Our water glasses were never empty. Our server stopped by throughout the meal to check in. We had a member of the party with an allergy, and she was so happy to accommodate us. She mentioned she had written the allergy protocol for the entire restaurant. She was so so amazing. Sara also provided provided excellent advice when we were torn between two appetizers, and we are SO glad we listened to her. The clams and mussels with chorizo were absolutely amazing. The Caesar salads were delicious as well. The only thing I was not too fond of was the butter/cheese mixture that came with the bread. It was a bit too strong in taste and overwhelmed the taste of the toasty bread. We got the tomahawk steak, and it was slightly over cooked at medium well rather than medium rare, but still delicious. They provide a level of dining worthy of a special occasion, a tad pricier than the Keg standard but you get a lot more upscale feel in service, with the decor and ambiance (it's bright! We came here to try their prime rib special. The restaurant was quite busy on a Sunday around 5:30pm so I'd recommend reservations especially while they are offering this special. The dinner started with a loaf of bread served in a hot (very hot) pan. The server didn't mention the pan's temperature so my fingers weren't happy for a few seconds! Loved the bread as it was fluffy and came with a yummy butter. For a starter, we had the grilled calamari. I liked the saltiness and flavour of the calamari, which was tender and cooked well. The steaks were a good portion size but didn't compare to other prime rib steaks I've had. I thought there wasn't enough flavour in the steak itself and there wasn't enough sauce to compensate. We were here for dine out. My husband really enjoyed the evening but I found it very disappointing. It used to be the restaurant EBO and we really enjoyed EBO. The restaurant has been thoroughly remodelled and is a bit more upscale than EBO was. I really hate the seating arrangement for parties of 2 now. It seems like the majority of the seats for 2 are bench style seats. When I go out for dinner I do not like to have strangers about 6" away from me so I end up hearing their conversation and they can hear my husband and myself. If I want to have dinner with 6 people I will make arrangements to go out with my friends. The service was okay but it is severely lacking from what it used to be at EBO. It was a Saturday night and it was very busy because of dine out but the service was just adequate. As I mentioned we ordered off the dine out menu. My husband had the smoky tomato bisque and he said it was outstanding. I had the Caesar salad and I must say that I've had better Caesar salads on dinner buffets. It was so bland and boring certainly not a Caesar salad that I would expect from a better restaurant. We both had steaks. They were tender and cooked as requested but again I did not find it to be anything special. I could feed 6 people for the price of one of their steaks and I know it would taste much better that what I had last night. For dessert my husband had the cheesecake and I had the parfait. The parfait was very rich. I cannot see paying their regular prices as I thought the food was okay but nothing special and I really hate sharing a table with 4 strangers. I really miss EBO but from reading the reviews it seems like I'm obviously in the minority. read more
