Great service and great tree trimming they always do great jobs also cleaning up afterwords

I have used Atlas in the past for tree service and have been happy with their services. I called and left a message many weeks ago about scheduling a repeat visit. I never received a callback. I did receive a call from another tree service and scheduled with them. I needed to get the work done and never got a response to my message for Atlas. I scheduled with the other company and the work was completed. They did a great job. I received two calls on 4/21/25 from Jeff at Atlas wanting to speak with me. (This was a few weeks after the work had been completed by the other company.). Also, Jeff's call came long after I had originally left the message for Atlas about scheduling the repeat service call. When I connected with Jeff, I found out he wasn't calling me about scheduling anything. He was calling me about an employee he apparently is having a dispute with. He wanted information about what had transpired and my scheduling with the other company. I explained how I scheduled with them as I never received a return call from Atlas. I needed to get the work done and didn't have time to wait for Atlas to call me back. Atlas' disputes with their current or former employees are absolutely none of my concern. In my opinion, it was completely inappropriate and out-of-line for Jeff to call me to dredge up information regarding Atlas' employees and alleged disputes the company may be having with them. Bottom line: Disputes between a company and their employees should remain between the company and the employee. Customers should never be pulled into the dispute. In my opinion, Jeff of Atlas Tree demonstrated extremely poor judgment with his decision to call me and dredge up information regarding their employee and potential issues. I won't be considering Atlas / SaveATree (their new name) in the future because of this interaction with Jeff. read more

I always recommended atlas for treating palm weevil to anyone who wanted to treat their palms but for some reason the quality of service over time seemed to go down and a lot of the palms were eventually killed. Each time it seems that they were not spraying the crown and that the systemic didn't do the job or hadn't made its way to the crown. Recently they had been treating my grandpas 70 year old very rare Chilean wine palm. Apparently they weren't spraying the crown and it died. It is so sad and disappointing. The new homeowner said they just were there prior and that the crown was collapsing and that they still didn't spray the crown. Also from multiple people that I recommended atlas said they had to switch to another company because they wouldn't return calls and wouldn't show up when they were supposed to. It's so sad driving down the street seeing my grandpas iconic palm dead. read more

Hate to say good or bad. I have used them over 50 yrs. Fantastic jobs with nary a pine needle left after removing 2 Canary Pines that were tilting. This time waited weeks for price, waited weeks for job date. Part of job was to be done following day. No time given. As i left the following day they called. I told 2 different callers 1:30 that afternoon would be fine. Am home, no show for 2nd part of job . Plus asked them to go back to redo clean up. Still a mess. All and all this is the first time i have been disappointed. And with that, I haven't checked out the lower job to see if it's as clean as when they arrived. Do not want to pay my gardener to clean up after them and their prices. So half & half good & bad. Workers very nice. read more

Below is an email I sent based on my unsatisfactory experience with this company, not as a direct customer but as a neighbor to one that regrettably allowed Atlas access to my property to trim a neighbor's tree. Atlas did not shape the overhang on my property to my satisfaction, and failed to address any of my concerns for a phase 2 effort that I was willing to pay for as a client. "It is not very professional to arrange a Thursday meeting and then not show, but I assume your conflict of interest precludes you from working on my behalf following the completion of your work for my neighbors. I will seek tree trimmers who have higher standards and exhibit greater professionalism. If and when you do perform additional work for the [Redacted], I will not permit any access on my property as it is too disruptive. I cannot allow any more trampling through my yard from which I obtain no benefit, only aggravation." read more

Atlas was recommended to me by our fence installer. Kamden was the arborist who handled my project. He was professional,knowledgeable and answered every question I had. Since I had such a positive interaction with him, I decided this was the company I wanted to go with. Along with that, the tree removal crew were great! They removed 19 cypress trees from my yard. They were on time, efficient and respectful. The whole time they kept me informed of what they were doing, cleaned up after themselves and were very professional. We had a great experience with Atlas Tree Service. We had a huge eucalyptus tree whose truck was on city open space property but whose branches were overhanging out house and property. We love the tree, but wanted to trim and remove some weight for safety. John Hamilton coordinated with the city's open space division and secured permission to trim the tree. Nate and his crew came out, listened attentively to our thoughts and preferences, provided some education about the best practices to ensure the health of the tree, and worked quickly and respectfully. 2 Stars for showing up on time. The cost was $120 for a 30mins consultation, no report was written. The first appointment was postponed due to arborist being on vacation, the second appt he showed up on time. Received a phone call demanding money, turned out the invoice was sent to the wrong address, needless to say, $120 for a 30mins consultation was expensive. The HOA for our condo complex contracts Atlas to do annual palm-tree-trimming. I've lived here for five years and never had a strong impression of Atlas one way or the other--the trees look maintained, we don't have rats, and there's minimal inconvenience for the residents. This year, though, I got to see how they handle things when they go wrong, and I couldn't be more pleased. While trimming the palm tree closest to my home, one of the branches took a weird fall and just bumped the edge of my window screen, knocking it loose--whereupon it was promptly impaled by the next branch down. I happened to be home at the time so I watched curiously to see what they'd do. Frankly, my faith in humanity was a little low after witnessing a minor hit-and-run earlier in the week. Imagine my surprise when instead of trying to ignore (or worse, hide) the issue, one of the employees, Rob, immediately came to my door with the destroyed screen, took complete responsibility, and set about figuring out a solution that would work well for me. (The fact that he did this without needing to go through any company red tape suggests that Atlas empowers their people to do the right thing.) We ended up needing a little back-and-forth (I needed to consult my HOA since I think the screens are technically theirs) but at each interaction, Rob was friendly and helpful, clearly communicated the next step, and--most importantly--did exactly what he said he would. I was a little apprehensive about delaying anything because a lot of service people seem to have a "weasel out" mentality, but he followed through on every promise. Bottom line, Atlas took care of everything. They brought in a mobile window-screen specialist right away (who did a great job) and within hours (and with minimal inconvenience), my window had a perfect new screen. In any business, mistakes (and minor freak accidents!) happen--it's not reasonable to expect perfection in an imperfect world. However, I'd be delighted if every business handled those unfortunate circumstances as well as Atlas did. read more

This is the second time I have used Atlas for my property, and it confirms that they are the only company I'll ever use to take care of my trees. I have mature oaks, elms, pines and a cottonwood. All of the trees are difficult to access, and surrounded by heavy landscaping. Ron Matranga was the consulting Master Arborist and he took his time to discuss with me the best plan for improving the health, aesthetics and value of my trees. I was given a very fair estimate and a work date was scheduled without delay. The crew, along with Ron, showed up on time, the plan was confirmed and a strategy worked out to meet the various challenges. The canopy guys, Armando and Nikka, were thoughtful of every cut, as well as careful and considerate on where the branches were dropped. The ground crew, Jesus and Greg, were energetic, efficient and thorough in the clean up. I could not be more pleased. The whole crew was professional, polite and pleasant. They showed up well prepared, with good attitudes and ready to work. The equipment, which included a cherry picker, was clean and well maintained. I am grateful for the care and concern they showed to my trees and property. They worked a full day and I definitely got my money's worth. Thanks to them, my trees are beautiful, healthy and safe. For the women out there looking for a reliable tree service company, I can tell you that at all times and by every member of the crew from the top down, I was listened to and treated with respect, courtesy and without a whiff of condescension. I am a homeowner with a very expensive 6' high block wall that surrounds my backyard. I recently realized that my neighbors on one side have two huge, overgrown, 25 ft. trees that were planted much too close to my wall, one of the tree trunks being only one foot away from the retaining wall. It is stressful and alarming to think that one or both of these trees roots could compromise and crack the wall that surrounds your property. To make matters worse, the house where the two trees are located was *just* sold and closed escrow last week. To have to greet your new neighbors with a request that they immediately cut down two huge trees or run the risk of them having to repair or replace a 60 foot section of 6' high block wall was not appealing. Working in the San Diego legal field for 30 years, I am fortunate to have a number of resources available to me when I need expert advice. I began asking attorneys that specialize in land use, real estate and property and neighbor disputes who is considered the eminent local arborist or tree authority that would be qualified to be an expert witness in court should my situation eventually require that. The name that I heard over and over was Ron Matranga, at Atlas Tree Service. I found out Ron was a Board Certified Master Arborist, which is the highest designation available in that field. If you are going to go through the time and expense of having a professional report prepared to take to court with you, you should definitely hire the big guns, and Ron was my only call. I called after hours on a Mon. evening and Ron called me back the next morning. I very much appreciated the fast response, I have dealt with many Contractors over the years and it seems like more often than not you have to leave several messages to even get a call back with most of them. I explained my situation to Ron and he actually pulled up my property and my neighbors on Google Earth (?) so he could see exactly what I was talking about. When I explained the new homeowners had not even moved in yet, Ron gave me several suggestions or options on how to proceed. He was always willing to make an appointment to come out to my home and write up a formal report, but suggested I wait until the new owners moved in and speak to them in person regarding the tree situation and then depending on their reaction, we could always move forward with the formal report that I could potentially use in court in a month or so if needed. (Although I knew who Ron was, he had no idea who I was or that he was recommended to me by several different attorneys) Ron gave me the hourly rate for his expert consultation fee, and I can say without a doubt it is WELL within the range of anyone of his caliber and experience. I can not stress enough how much I appreciate the expert advice, fast response, and time Ron took to patiently answer all my questions and outline some options I had not previously considered. I would recommend Atlas Tree Service to anyone looking for consummate professionals at a more than reasonable price. I am hoping my new neighbors will do the 'right thing' and remedy their tree situation as it relates to damaging my block wall, but if they are not receptive to mitigating damage from their tree roots, I will call Ron back with zero hesitation and have him proceed to do a full consultation/property visit and prepare a professional expert report which I can take to court and hopefully compel the neighbors to remedy the situation. read more

Before I go off about the poor reviews by Yelpers who aren't even customers, I have to say what a great job Atlas Tree Service and their team did on our palms in Kensington today. When I called and spoke to the very friendly and helpful Cristal on Wednesday, she put me in touch with Brittany who does scheduling. Brittany went way above and beyond in getting my questions answered and was an absolute pleasure to speak with (her cousin and I share the same name, different spellings though!). As promised, the crew showed up today in a safe and organized manner, and did a phenomenal job on the palms. They were fast, efficient, and thorough. From beginning to end, I highly recommend Atlas. Oh, for those of you who think a business deserves a review based on their drivers, do everyone a real favor and report it TO THE BUSINESS not on Yelp. Trust me, as a business owner, I don't want our crews driving poorly and I want to know about it directly, especially around obviously perfect signal using, speed obeying drivers like y'all. And apparently, no one seems to be in charge, they all laughed and pointed at someone else. I e-mailed the company NO RESPONSE. This company hacks trees that they say they are "Trimming". They have cut back beautiful trees excessively. Their "Arborist" is paid to evaluate trees that he thinks should be "Trimmed", so of course, the trees are trimmed, without regard to the homeowners input. Since I am part on an HOA, I have no voice in the amount that 2 beautiful trees, standing on the front of my property, are trimmed, because this is "Common Area". My HOA's main concern is liability, not ecology, habitat for wildlife, nor scenery. read more

The folks at Atlas came out to rectify a long neglected tree situation. Ron evaluated the trees and discussed a suitable course of action. In fact, he suggested doing less work than what I thought was needed. Trusting his judgment, I agreed. Glad I did. Am still impressed with how good the overgrown pepper tree turned out (and I had wanted it removed- silly me!). Really turned an ugly, neglected tree into something eye appealing. Cost- reasonable. Less than what I had expected. I felt that I could trust Atlas to do the job without my 'supervising' them (had to work that day). And I was right. They showed up as scheduled, took care of business. Everything I'd asked them to do was attended to. Nothing omitted (hate when that happens). They left the yards neat and tidy. Hauled off all the removed trees and branches. Comforting to know one can trust a vendor to take care of business properly. I should add: I'd just bought this place, Had no idea what all trees I had and what was needed to take proper care of them. So Ron freely "spilled his guts" educating me. I was extremely happy I called the Atlas tree service I was totally amazed at the high level of professionalism they delivered. Starting with their estimator John who respected my time by showing up when we set the appointment to walk the property. I am very particular of who works on the property and respectful of my customers safety and cars in the parking lot! They showed up in clean trucks and all staff was uniformed and in safety gear! They had strategically placed safety cones and had a ground crew watch for pedestrians and Uber's. They conducted as thorough clean up and removed all leafs and saw dust. Our neighbor hired Atlas to trim our neighbor's tree that impacts our house and roof also. Ron and his crew handled the dispute with our neighbor who wasn't planning on considering reducing much of the impact on our property originally. The crew figured out a way to reduce the tree enough to Help us out and keep the integrity of the tree satisfying the neighbor. They handled the whole issue with great mediation skills - I know as my career was as a mediator. And the tree looks great! read more

I contacted four different tree services to have a 60 year old carob tree trimmed and a younger rubber tree cut down in my yard. Atlas was the only service that followed up with both an email and a phone call. There was no pressure and they let me take my time to make a decision. When we did schedule a day to have the work done, the workers were all on time, very friendly and got to work immediately. They completed the work in less time than was originally quoted. They cleaned up not only everything they cut down, but also all the leaves that had been piling up on the ground around the trees. The old carob tree looks amazing now! It's been thinned out and doesn't hang over the street. Our next door neighbor is extremely happy with it too. Having the rubber tree cut down in the backyard has opened up our yard so much and I'm no longer worried about branches falling on my dog or having to pick up the leaves that fall year round. We have used Atlas Tree Service for almost ten years now and they continue to have such great service. Ron, our arborist knows his pines. He introduced us to our Monterey Pine when we first bought our house and he continues to prune and groom it every two years. They also do the eucalyptus grove in Morley Field. If you have any large trees that need maintenance and pruning then Atlas is the best in town. They are clean and tidy before, during and after the work is done. read more

All this company is interested in is making a few bucks. They came into our area and tore it all up. Cut down trees that did not need to be so they could put a few buck in their pockets. They left a mess and their works were cussing the whole time when the saws were not running DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! read more

We had just moved into our new house with 4 huge (over 60 ft.) 40+ year eucalyptus trees that were in need of pruning. We had Ron come out and assess the trees - all healthy, he said. So, we went ahead and had Atlas come and prune all 4. Now 2 of the 4 are DEAD and 1 more doesn't look so good. The only one that looks like it's going to survive is one that had a hawk's nest in it, so we told Ron not to prune it back too much. We just got through paying another arborist $2,800 to remove the trees that Atlas killed - by over-pruning! Under no circumstances should you use this company! My husband and I are sick over these tress - if we just hadn't had them pruned (by Atlas anyway), they would be alive today - huge, beautiful, healthy trees....now DEAD! My husband called Ron when we first suspected the trees were dying and Ron was supposed to come out and take a look and get back to us...guess what? We never heard from him! Also, the crew broke off my cactus and scratched the hell out of the neighbor's truck when they were removing branches. Please, if you want to keep your trees, DON'T USE ATLAS. read more

This would be a zero if I could! In all the years I have lived in my home I have never experienced a company just not showing up and not calling when I had an appointment scheduled with them! My home is a little hard to find and without fail people have to call and ask for additional directions. That said,Ron never called and never showed up. When I called to ask where they were the customer service agent said she would see what she could do. After waiting another 15 minutes I called AGAIN! Her response was "He has a busy schedule and couldn't find it". They had my phone number and if you are too busy, don't make an appointment and waste my time! read more

We received multiple estimates to remove a 75' tall eucalyptus tree that was dangerously hanging over our neighbors home. In terms of price Atlas actually beat a number of small outfits that I was sure would have cost less money. The guys that came out to remove our tree were super professional and I cant image having used a smaller outfit. What they did to safely remove the tree was nothing short of aerial acrobatics. It was amazing and took 4 guys. They also ground the stump. About 6 months later I removed some of the dirt and found left over stump. They came out the next week and removed what was left for free. We contracted Atlas to trim our monster 150' pine tree and small magnolia tree. Ron came out and gave us an estimate, saying it would take roughly 3 hours (compared to the other estimates of 2 days). He was not joking. His crew was amazing, sculpting the trees beautifully and cleaning up immaculately.
