Very put off by receptionist. Called saying I was interested in a quote to cut down trees based on suggestions from neighbors. First question asked was if I was new customer, I said yes. Continued to ask me about 5 more questions about my needs, then cut me off when answering what part of San Diego to say sorry, they can't accept any new customers. I understand not being able to take care of new customers, but should probably address that sooner in the call. Very, very off-putting. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. If you're looking for a company to trim your trees, look elsewhere. Atlas strikes again. A month or two back our neighborhood was blanketed by a notice that Atlas will be in the area to do work for the city, ensuring trees are 6 or 7ft (I forget) above the sidewalk. We figured we were safe since our sycamores were pruned earlier this year (by a crew with an arborist on site this time, to partially fix what Atlas butchered last year) and all branches are sufficiently high. But no, we came home today to notice some branches cut that shouldn't have been cut, and some that aren't even over the sidewalk. So apparently under the guise of city work they decided they were free to cut branches squarely over our property? Not to mention it's a horrible time of year to prune sycamores, which is why we did it at the beginning of the year, not in the middle of summer just as hottest part of the year is coming. read more

After an 'online-onsite-at site' search of seven different tree trimming services, taking me over a month of due diligence, my neighbor contracted Atlas Tree Service to clean up and trim his two dangerous Date Palm trees (provided I would incur a minimum of $500.00 of the cost). Bullied into no other alternative, I agreed. For the first time ever, I was hosting my five grandchildren during the Christmas holidays and had hoped to provide them with my yard being a safe environment in which to play. For approximately 15 years, these trees' root balls have trespassed over onto my property, gradually destroying our shared fence. Additionally, their dead fronds have blocked out my air and sun space killing some of my own very expensive giant birds of paradise and giant yucca. Their spiked thorny stubs laden with dangerous critter bacteria have dotted my ground. Atlas Tree Service, under the direction of Elias the project manager, was willing to take on the job under the most difficult of circumstances, difficult not only because of these massive , unkept, dangerous trees, but because of the illogical, irresponsible demands of the owner of these trees. Elias, in his dedicated fashion, used the utmost of patience and psychology toward the owner of the trees; after months of owner initiated frustration, Atlas successfully accomplished the job. I now have a front yard that is no longer dangerous in which to sit or play.. My neighbor's trees (for now) no longer have dead fronds and spiked stubs. I have Elias and his crew to thank. Elias's professionalism, his patience and dedication with dealing with the illogical owner of these trees, his multiple times to the property before, during and after the job, (for which he was not paid overtime,) was way above and beyond the amount for which Atlas was paid. Atlas Tree Service employs honest, dedicated, efficient, hard working, logical, tireless men. They take enormous pride in their work. Elias and his crew deserve 10 stars. read more

I have worked with Atlas for around 30 years! Wow...unbelievable we're both still around after all that time! I trust them and call them for any and all houses we have lived in. Ron has been the guy I've dealt with since day 1, and he is incredibly knowledgeable. Elias is there, as well, and I like him, too. They have appeased neighbors and saved the life of a favorite tree. The most unsafe operation I've ever witnessed and are on the fast track to killing a bystander. From the placement of their no park signs to the sleeveless arborist yelling profanities at the young man who is trying to move his truck out of the way. While still cutting and dropping palm fronds on him. One which struck his head. Cops and ambulance came and I'm still in awe at the acts that I saw. I will NEVER recommend Atlas and hope the whole crew is terminated. Such a shame and I hope they have fun with the lawsuit that is pending. I spoke with HENRY atlas and never received a call back or anything. Find better guys. read more

One of the worst experience of my life worst costumers service no care for anyone's Safety property I was sitting in my car parked when the truck blocked me in even said hi to them I figured they would have been working on power lines no uniform guy in the box to go up was in a sleeveless shirt no sign on the truck or saying no parking , next thing I know 10lb Palm tree branches are falling all over my truck from 4 storys up caused severe damage to my truck Honk my horn to let them know the response was fk should have moved Your truck , I said you could have asked me I didn't know ,we don't need to ask you to move ,you saw that we are here I had no idea I got out of my car , tell them to pls stop he said he wasn't going to stop both really aggressive yelling sear words at me continuing to cut and drop tree branches on my car and even hitting me in my head and scratching my face luckily 4 witnesses took action and called the cops and ambulance to help me the company just left and continued to cut trees on top of people's cars even backed in to the tree with the guy on top the looks like they had no idea what they wear doing or possible my under the influence I would never recommend using this company they are on the way to killing someone still in shock at how they handles the situation ,a simple sir we are going to be cutting a tree above your truck can you pls move would have prevented this whole situation instead he chose to smoke his cigarette and not care about anything , I've never done a bad Yelp review this is my first but I hope you learn and terminate the crew find better nicer good people that act like they care about safety and the job they do! read more

We hired Atlas service after talking with Ron, their estimator, and doing a walk around with him. We explained what we needed and he said it would take about a day. The tree workers came and went with little disturbance and did a very professional and clean job. They did exactly what we asked and the yard and back canyon area (which is really steep) looks great. Wow... what a difference a few years make. A couple years ago Atlas came through our neighborhood as city contractors trimming the palms. They were extremely nice, took the time to look for birds and nests, and lowered the palms slowly onto the road to ensure they did not crush our plants below the tree. So great that I wrote a five-star review. This year they came through with foul mouths and reckless abandon, not caring what they cut or where it landed. When we asked them to lower the palms slowly to avoid crushing our plants under our tree (since they said they HAD to do the trimming) like they had just done to our neighbor's they told us they could not and too bad about the plants. We finally got them to agree to skip our tree and they left for lunch... leaving all of the palm fronds laying in my neighbor's yard crushing his plants!!! Did not even make an effort to move them into the street or onto a truck. I would never hire these guys in this state of employees, and frankly am not happy that my tax dollars are going to pay them via the city contract. Just a complete 180 for a company and unfortunately, it was in the wrong direction. read more

Nick inspected our brush piles, he was on time, polite, took the time to answer our questions and called as requested to let us know when the crew would arrive. We had one pine removed and the remaining 3 cleaned up and trimmed about 2 weeks ago on our backyard slope. The crew put down tarps and wrapped parts of our house and yard to protect it as they carried the tree parts out to the front. This is our 2nd experience with Atlas and they did a great job again.
