Hadn't been to this place since they opened and I won't be back...ever! The place was clean and the guy who rang my friend and I up was nice, but it was the tasteless, nasty food that did it for me. My friend ordered chicken over rice and I tried a little and it was gross. I ordered the six piece Chipotle bbq wings combo with waffle fries...also gross. Then when calling the restaurant via the number provided in their website, my order confirmation, and Apple Maps, someone answers and hangs up once I say hello and proceeds to not answer the phone. This is easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Not recommended at all!! The wife and kid were with me and wanted to try something out of the ordinary while we were in suburban Maryland. We were drawn by a verbal recommendation to Atomic Wings. When we entered, we sat down with a menu and decided what to order. My kid was hungry, so I quickly ordered with the 15 year old-looking cashier. I ordered the 10-piece chicken meal, large fries, and chicken with rice, lamb with rice, and the fried oreos. We told ourselves we'd eat a bit and then take the rest with us. I told the cashier kid to bring the food out as it was ready, not all at once, so my kid didn't have to suffer any longer. Order after order was placed after us, and I swear all those people got their food. I was still waiting 20 minutes later, so I approached another cashier (15 year old disappeared) and inquired. They were confused, and looked up my order (you don't know who placed the really big order?!), finally finding it a couple of minutes later. They gave me everything together. Fine, whatever. Except...they didn't give me everything. I got the lamb and rice and a small side of fries. I didn't know the difference between the small and large, this being our first time. The lamb and rice came later, with no fries. OK, no biggie. Then the fried oreos came. I asked for it last, but no big deal. Then they gave us a 10 wing dish. I returned it, saying it wasn't our order. I figured they got it mixed up with someone else's. It turns out that they substituted (without asking me) the 10-piece whole chicken meal with the wings, hoping that I wouldn't notice. Some lady come by and asked (rather rudely) what was going on. I told her, and she looked at the receipt and told me that they were totally out of whole chicken pieces. So then why'd they sell it to me? She goes on (with attitude) re-stating that they didn't have my meal. I had to ask for a refund, which she did. This brings me to a man whom I suppose was the owner. He was perched in a corner the whole time, watching everything transpire, without interrupting. Huh? Now all of a sudden he's the big boss?? Am I being too forthright here? So they refunded the 10 piece meal. But they still forgot the large fries. Small fries come with the chicken/lamb over rice meals (they didn't tell me that), and they didn't give me one of those small orders. Now, I get the actual fries I ordered late, and only after the three employees have a pow-wow with each other. What the heck is going on?? Talk about a process implosion. And I might have overlooked all of this had the food been worth the wait...it was most definitely not. The chicken/lamb over rice meals were dry and a sad attempt at kabseh or similar. The wings are all a standard flavor...the various flavors they offer are actually the flavor of the sugar-ridden sauce they give you. Why? Why not season it to order? The actual best part of the meal were the fries, and I've had better. So, in the end, I am not sure how this place has four stars. I have reticence giving it one. Yuck! Ordered 2, 20 count boneless wings with waffle fries. After driving the whole way home to eat with my family we find put 20 of the wings we're missing. I called the store back and was originally told the wait was over an hour so I drove back any way and they told me 20 minute wait. This is my first time ordering from Atomic Wings and disappointed with this issue especially being told the manager was too busy to discuss my issue. Nice addition to Hyattsville, especially to have an organic wing shop is a pretty cool concept. We tried the lemon pepper and original hot, both reminded me of Wing Stop flavors minus the extra sauce underneath. The flavors are very similar, the lemon pepper here has more of a tang from the lemon which I enjoyed. The portions however were on the small side, the wings were small (but organic!) yet had enough meat on them. And you can only get them in orders of 5, 10 or 20. This place is within its first grand opening week, and I am saying this both as a precursor and disclaimer. With that being said the service was fast and friendly, the menu options and wing sauces were aplenty, and the wings were actually spot on. The meatiness of the wings were centered perfectly between too much and too little. The sauce options I selected were the Atomic Level Spice Traditional Sauce, the Barbecue Jerk and the Thai Chili Sauce. They all were excellent and the spice on them all were exactly what you would want in a wing sauce if you like spice. Jerk BBQ 1, Atomic 2, Thai Sauce 3 in that order of yumminess. Now unfortunately I did not take any photos of the food {insert sad face} simply because I'd like to revisit this place in a few months. With new places I simply like to hold off on any judgement to ensure the level of consistency with the food and service. And lastly, the wings were good, reasonably priced, and invoked within me a felling of nostalgia with memories of the great wings from a newly introduced Cluck-U-Chicken.... Atomic wings is a small building located in a stripmall very bright welcoming inside. The menu is very straightforward providing reasonable options. I decided to try the "Boneless Wings Combo" it comes with choice of sauce, waffle fries, blue cheese, celery and carrots on the side. My choice of dipping sauce was Chipotle BBQ which was tangy yet sweet. The boneless wings were generously covered in bbq sauce and very tender. BTW the waffle fries taste great with ranch sauce. Let me start with some positives: I was really excited to try this place because it's located in a food desert of mostly lame fast food. The decor is very nice, service was really polite, but the staff was overwhelmed I'd say. I say that because it took WAY too long to receive my order. The good news is that the wings were nice and crispy. Now the critique: I ordered the 3 wings, 3 strips combo. That was a mistake. The strips were slightly undercooked and had a weird texture - like they were over marinated. The waffle fries were just meh. I think it was also a mistake to ask for Thai chili sauce. I am relieved that I got it on the side because there was no heat in that sauce - just cloying sweetness. I may give these folks one more shot for wings only. Maybe. As of September 2017, the deal went bad. This store dropped the Mondays AND Tuesdays half-price deal on bone-in AND boneless wings. As of now, they only do half-price on Tuesdays and only for the boneless wings. So I have dropped my rating down to 3 stars instead of 4 stars. As many folks have said, their service was really slow, but the wait was okay for the bone-in wings on Mondays and Tuesday and I was willing to drive out there. But wing specials are easy to find throughout the area. Other places have half-price boneless wings on Mondays and Tuesdays; and others have half-price boneless wings on Mondays and Thursdays, while having half-price bone-in wings on Tuesdays.
