Vic, Lois, Humberto and Checko really did a good in our house for the following services: attic insulation removal, attic clean up, sanitize attic, rodent exclusion, air sealing, insulation installation. Vic and his team communicate with us very well, and they even noticed and patched some tiny holes which we will never notice. With some previous remodeling work, we have a lot of holes in the crawlspace and they carefully patched all of them nicely. We really like the new Eco Batts insulation they installed and strongly recommend Attic Bros to other people who are looking for insulation services. read more

Attic Bros came out to our house to remove old insulation and install new insulation. They did a terrible job. They completely covered 12 o f 14 vents with insulation, which would prevent any airflow in the attic. When we approached them about it, they denied it and said the job was done correctly and to code. So, we had to get a Santa Clara building inspector out and he did not pass the job. It was done incorrectly and not to code. They continued to deny this. We had to hire another company to come out and correct the job. In addition to the shoddy and incorrect work, they damaged the sheet rock surrounding the attic access in our newly textured hallway. The worker told us it was not his problem. So, we are left with fixing that also. There is no way we would recommend this company. read more

Ori came to provide an estimate for attic insulation. He was punctual, courteous, and friendly. Unlike another person who gave an estimate, Ori went into the attic, took pictures, showed me all the problem areas, and explained the entire process step by step without having to ask. I truly appreciated that. On the day of work, Vic and his crew arrived on time, sealed off the hallway so that the living areas would not be affected, and did a great job of removing old insulation, cleaning, rodent proofing the attic and outside perimeter of the house, and installing new insulation. They thoroughly cleaned up everything that was in the front yard, including all the leaves that were on the ground; in fact, they left it better than it had been when they started! They also swept and vacuumed the hallway and doorway after removing the plastic. Vic noticed a few things that weren't to his liking, so he had one of his crew work on it until he was satisfied. Our new home had original insulation (circa 1960) that was about 1/4" thick and really not doing anything for keeping our house warm. The house was also sitting empty for about a year so there was a major rat infestation. Michael Barrie, our rep, came and did the most thorough inspection of our attic and crawlspace than any of the other attic companies we had called. He spent over an hour talking with us about what he found, showed us the pictures he took of our attic and crawlspace, and gave us his recommendation. Our decision was very complicated, as most home improvement decisions are, and Michael was very patient in answering all of my questions. He even gave me his personal cell phone number and told me to call him anytime. Even if we decided not to have AtticBros do the job for us, he would be open to guiding us in making an educated decision. We ended up having an extermination company handle the rodent infestation but AtticBros took care of our insulation. They removed all of our old insulation, cleaned up random debris, sanitized the attic, sealed all of the holes, and put in R-49 batts. In our crawlspace there wasn't much to do except clean up old debris which Michael threw into our estimate for a very nominal fee. We had all of our vendors for various home improvement projects lined up during a short period before we were scheduled to move in. So when I got a call the night before the insulation was scheduled to be installed by AtticBros saying that their vacuum to suck up old insulation was broken and it was likely they wouldn't be able to fix it in time, I sort of freaked out. It was after hours on Valentine's Day and the person called me several times throughout the evening to keep me updated on the status of our project. He finally texted me saying that he was able to borrow a vacuum from another company in order to get our job done. I was so grateful and told him this was the best Valentine's Day gift ever! The crew that came to do the work was very knowledgeable and communicative. They did an excellent job and cleaned up after themselves as well. When we first contacted attic bros it was because we wanted our crawl space cleaned and sanitized. We had found a dead rodent underneath and found that there was a possible rodent problem. When they came to give the quote, they talked us into replacing all the attic insulation (rat droppings found), and rodent proofing the house. They told us they would include the crawl space cleaning and sanitizing for free if we had all that done. Original estimate was for 2 days of work. They seemed rushed at the end and ended up "finishing" in a day. The main issue is that they did not clean out the crawl space which is all we wanted to start with. They took out some tarps and cardboard underneath, but there was still rat droppings everywhere and a second dead rat. I complained to the company that they did not clean the crawlspace like we had agreed, and they said that if we paid more to get the ac ducts in the crawlspace replaced they will clean it as part of that, otherwise we have to pay more because he has to send another crew out. Even after months, we still had a rodent issue. I contacted them again stating that they told me the droppings and rat pee attracts rats to the crawlspace, so the fact that they didn't clean it like they agreed to is probably still attracting more rats to our house. We spent $6000, and still are trying to rectify the rodent issue. We still never got our original issue fixed which is a crawlspace cleaning. They also damaged our ceiling during the insulation installation, and the handyman they sent to fix it did not do a great job. You can definitely tell there is damage there, and the paint does not match either. We were so fed up that we were willing to pay them and have them come out and clean originally, but they stopped responding. In the end I had to contract another company and pay another couple thousand to get the crawlspace cleaned out. It took us 11 months to fix our original issue. read more

There aren't many companies doing business in Santa Cruz so I was pleased these guys would come over the hill. We had old insulation to replace that had been infested with rats. From my first call, in- person estimate with Jordan, bid, acceptance, scheduling, and work day was excellent. Great customer service. We were in need of having our old blown-in attic insulation replaced and of having our HVAC ducting cleaned. I sent a quote request to several of the companies listed on Yelp to have the job done. Dianna was quick to respond to my request and scheduled Mike to come out and provide us our quote. When Mike arrived, he greeted me and made sure he understood my needs and then got right to assessing the attic and the ducting. Mike took laser measurements of the space in my attic to make sure he had an accurate measurement of the space (something none of the other companies did), gave me a thorough rundown of everything he saw during his inspection, and then provided me a quote on the spot. The quote wasn't the cheapest nor was it the most expensive of the five quotes I received for this job, but I wasn't concerned as much with the price as I was with the quality of work to be done and of assuring the company I hired was licensed, bonded, insured and had a good reputation, which Attic Bros has all of. Mike was able to schedule the job to start and be completed 3 days from the day I received my quote. This was a huge plus for me because we were on a time crunch to get the job done. On the day the work was completed, Jose and his team arrived on time and began working immediately. Within six hours of their arrival, everything I hired them for was done, and done thoroughly. I have been so happy with my experience with Attic Bros. From initial contact and setting up an estimate to the professionalism of the home inspector to the crew that did the work to the follow up appointments with David Ramirez and communication -- everything was really smooth, professional, and accurate. They are reasonably priced, extremely responsive and very nice. We had an infestation of rats in our attic and they were able to provide a detailed report of what should be done and how they will do it. The crew was thorough and efficient. After the job was done, we still heard rodent movement that turned out to be a rat trapped inside the attic after everything was sealed up. I immediately got a follow up visit with David. He was fantastic - super nice and helpful and let me know what the issue was. He set traps and as soon as I heard it go off later that evening, I was able to contact him directly to let him know. He made time in his schedule to come by and get rid of the rodent. It was such a relief. That customer service alone makes this company excellent. The office staff are great too and are so helpful with setting up consultations and follow-up appointments. So, we had a bigger project, dealing with asbestos, taking out all the ducts... it took a bit longer than we thought but I am happy with the amount of communication that was kept throughout the process. I do think that there was some scheduling miscommunication, but that honestly could have been because they were working with us(tenants) and the landlords and a rental agency, so it would have been confusing to know who to contact, so I don't lay blame on Attic Bros as it was a complex situation and legally I think the tenants aren't the ones you are obliged to contact with schedule updates. I am happy to report that when we had a funny smell coming out of our vents they sent someone out to deal with it and he figured it out and dealt with it same day(no need to schedule down the road and come back and deal with the smell). It no longer smells like musty burning so thank you guys for dealing with this. Honestly, this is a complex business to be working in and I'm just glad to have clean air to breathe and the asbestos is out of our house, so thank you guys for the service you provide. read more

My experience is very mixed. The original inspector was great, took his time with inspecting both my attic and crawl space, explained what he saw and explained their services. They were by far the most expensive estimate I received, but seemed to be the most thorough. Boy! was I disappointed to say the least on my scheduled day for service. They were supposed to arrive between 8-10 am. 10:45, no one, not even a call. So I called. I was told they would be here in about an hour. They arrived after 12:30. This crew went to work, but the attitude was that they really hated their job. The person that was in charge of the crew seemed like he would rather be anywhere else. Needless to say, they did not finish the job on this day. They completed the attic, but broke a ceiling canned light, put a crack in the ceiling, disconnected my heating ducts that were attached (I knew I had some that were disconnected and damaged) but they did not reconnect the ones that had been working that morning. It was the coldest two days (37º in the morning) I had without heat until my heating guy could come out to reconnect them! That cost me an additional $400. I was very reluctant when they were to come back again, but fortunately this two man crew ~ headed by Vic ~ were the complete opposite. Vic and his partner, completed the crawl space in record time themselves! Were exceptionally professional, showed me pictures of before and after, which the other guy showed me 1 picture of the damaged heating ducts (that I was already aware of). I am supposed to call for a re-check in about 10 days. I hope it is Vic that comes back. He took pride in his work which I appreciated. My hats off to him and his partner. I give Vic 5 stars ! All I can say is that I hope the other 'team' learns from Vic how to be on a job. read more
