I enjoy having a good business lunch at Attilio's. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The bread service is particularly delicious with the olive oil dipping plate. What makes it even better is the private parking lot so you can avoid finding a metered street spot. You can also order from the expansive dinner menu at during lunch. I suggest the pork chops. read more

Friday was my first visit to Attilios. They didn't appear to have our reservation and the entire staff seemed to be in chaos. The hostess looked and acted unprofessional and ended up saying to the waitress "just put them at a high top and if they don't like it bring them back." Um we're standing right here... So the two of us were seated at a 6 person high top in the bar area. It was very loud and hard to have a conversation, I finally waived down waitstaff to change the tv that was about six feet in front of me playing a show about surgery. Our server seemed indifferent at best. At one point she asked if we wanted cheese on our pasta, which we did, she never returned with it and we never saw her again. We had veal Oscar and veal parm and both were average at best. The bread was good. read more

I like the bar , they have a nice wine by the glass list before dinner . Food is always delicious from antipasto salad to Pasta, entree, and a tasty Italian cookie with coffee To finish. Spontaneously tried attilios tonight with the family - including my niece who is gluten free and my sister who is a vegetarian. Our sever, Brian, could not have been more accommodating, engaging, patient and thoughtful in his approach and made my niece feel like a million bucks. Sincerely some of the best service I've received in years. Food was great, prices were relatively reasonable for the portion sizes - but the service was outstanding and the reason we will return. The decor is dreamy ... soft and welcoming, the staff attentive and accommodating (i needed to change tables) great wine selection, and I have been there 3 times and love the food...two notes ...which keep it from a 5 star .... the music is always SOOO loud, we have to ask them to turn it down each time! Also, each time the fruit flies are invasive around your table (even in winter), I'm not a fan of bugs...so perhaps this wouldn't bother others as much .... read more

We have been to Attilio's probably 4-5 times. The food is always good but not as good as Ilario's or Julie's Place. I named these competitors because of the similar price point. Service, however, needs improvement. While some waiters and waitresses are attentive, others are young and would rather gossip with one another behind the hostess station, watch the crowd in the bar area and flirt with some regulars. Our waitress last night seemed to want to join the crowd in the bar area instead of serving us. Service is always excellent at Ilario's and Julie's Place. Also, the noise level is so unpleasantly high. If you want to have a date night or just have a conversation with your friends, you would have to lean over and shout. read more

Excellent Italian food, one of the best in Syracuse. Veal parm is great, thick and cuts with a fork, very tender. Chicken Saltimbocca was so good, something I would normally not order however it was very good. Small antipasto salad was plenty for two, the meat, cheese, tuna all fresh and tasty. Nice bottle of wine with dinner; 2 dinners, antipasto, bottle of Chianti $100 very reasonable and a great value for the quality of food. We have been searching for a decent Italian place since Rico's changed hands, we have finally found it! read more

Started out on a bad foot when we first sat down here. We were seated and immediately given our bread and dipping oil. Within 5 mins we knew what we wanted but waited and waited and waited some more for any form of life to approach us and announce themselves as our waiter/waitress. Place wasn't busy by any means. 4 people congregated around the hostess podium while 1 waitress handled the tables. We were refused a window table because it was seating for four and we were just a couple. That was followed up 15 mins later with a couple being seated at the window seat by the person that told us it was only for groups of 4. All that aside.... They have good food, so I gotta give credit where credit is due. Everything was delicious from the bread to the salad and to the delicious pasta dishes we ordered. They certainly stand up there with best that little Italy has to offer. Would be hesitant to try again because we were really annoyed by the sluggish service. read more

My wife and I went for our anniversary. Never been there before. It was a bit noisy due to two big groups but that would be my only negative comment about the experience. Unprofessional staff. Uniforms were grungy and unkempt. Jeans and black t shirt can look sophisticated. These did not. People checked on us occasionally but didn't fill our water enough. At the end of the night our waitress came back with our bill wreaking of smoke. The entire staff congregated at the table to split tips and chat for a good 20 mins. This should've been done somewhere else beside the main dining area. Then I look over and someone has snuck in a large guide dog (a comfort dog I assume, which is fine by me) and everyone starts to let it in the middle of the restaurant and parade it around. Had it stayed under the table it would have been fine. Loud and unruly. The food, drinks and the decor were great! Hopefully they'll get their act together. read more

I came in late for dinner on a Friday night. The bar was hopping, playing great 60-70 music. I sat in dining room, it is subtle elegance - very nice. The service was exceptional and the steak was perfectly cooked. I "upped" to the Caesar Salad and it had fresh Anchovies, a very nice touch, tasty! I was very pleased with the experience. On Friday, June 9th, four of us had dinner here to celebrate a birthday. As is our custom, the birthday gal picks the restaurant. I had never been here before. While there are plenty of 5 Star reviews, I was a little leery because the negative food reviews were extremely negative. Well, apparently they have corrected the problems because our dinners were delicious. The bread (small warm loaf) is served with olive oil. The diced garlic, parmigiana cheese, basil and oregano are served on the side so you can mix in what you like. Very good! The salads were fresh and crisp (Caesar $3 extra and bleu cheese crumbles $1 extra). Two of us had the Salmon with Champagne Dill Sauce ($25). The sauce was tasty without being overpowering, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. The Veal Cacciatore ($20) and Chicken Francaise ($22) were thoroughly enjoyed by the other two in our party. Wine was $7 for a glass of Riesling and a bottle of a nice red wine was $30 - right on par with most restaurants. Our birthday gal got a free dessert. She chose the carrot cake and we shared it - delicious! The only slightly negative was the service. We started with a smiling server who brought our water, wine and bread, but as soon as I mentioned we had a coupon, the smile disappeared and she was not as attentive. (By the way, they only take the coupon with the bill, not before, so I would not mention it ahead of time again.) The coupon was only $10 off. Our bill was $150+. Perhaps she had customers who did not tip appropriately, but that is really no excuse. The busser was very nice and he cleared the dishes in a timely manner. The restaurant was full by the time we finished eating, so we gave her a very generous tip since we took extra time to open presents. We were seated at a window table. The dining area is small and the embossed tin ceiling is high (20 ft?) keeping with the age of the building. This yesteryear décor (which we all liked) does make it a bit noisier than some other places. However, I have been in brand new restaurants that were noisier than this one. In any case, this was not an issue for any of us. Bottom line: The food is great and I am looking forward to eating here again! read more

What a huge disappointment. Started with the saddest looking calamari steak app. Skimpy and cooked to death. When ordering, both my brother in law and myself asked for pasta that was not over cooked. His side of pasta was a mushy mess that he tried one of and left there. Mine was supposed to be the Syracuse famous style of cavetelli, broccoli, garlic and olive oil with mushroom. They put it in front of me and the entire contents was one big blob melded together. It all shifted because it was literally floating in over an inch of water. I asked the waitress to take a look after about ten minutes of figuring out how to try to eat it. She came over and took it in the back, drained the water out and gave me the same blob of cold overcooked mess. When she came back later to see what we might need she was very curt saying "What's wrong? You didn't eat it, you look like you don't like it!" That's not what you should be saying to a customer. How about maybe "Let me take care of this personally and make it right or maybe you'd like to order something else?" The worst part was my husband took two bites of his skimpy veal Marsala and started immediately feeling sick. He ran to the men's room and got very sick-I had to leave the other two couples there to drive him home as we pulled over two more time for him to get sick. Unbelievable. Rude, arrogant, unprofessional and lousy food on top of food poisoning. What a night. read more

We had Thanksgiving dinner here yesterday. It was an outstanding meal. The turkey was cooked to perfection and all the sides were delicious. It was truly a treat to enjoy Thanksgiving without all the fuss! The service was friendly and accommodating and we ordered the family style dinner so we even had leftovers to take home. A group of us who have been friends for 50 years meet several times a year to share a meal and catch up. We went to Attilio's last Monday. I am a long-time vegan, and usually end up having a salad and French fries, as that's the only vegan option. Not this time! I talked with our server when we arrived, and he brought the chef out to talk with me. I ended up telling him to surprise me, as he was very aware of what eating a plant based diet means. I had a cup of delicious pasta Fagioli soup followed by an amazing pasta dish with a marinara sauce and grilled vegetables. I'm not sure who was happier, my friends or me. They always feel sad that I have such a hard time. The service and food were absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back! read more

I was so excited to celebrate my birthday in Syracuse with my mother,father and a few friends. I wanted a change of pace from the typical Syracuse restaurants we go to. We found this restaurant, and made a reservation. Excited as can be, we got to the restaurant 15 minutes early to be ignored by the hostess and other employees. When we inquired About our table, we were told it was being set up and we still had 11 minutes until our reservation time. We looked into the dining room to see our table fully set and ready, with no issues. 10 minutes passed and when we again inquired about our reservation yet again, the presumed owner told us to settle down and wait a few more minutes for our reservation. Finally, after being quite patient, we were seated in the not so busy dining room. We were seated abruptly, and we heard the man who seated us under his breath say "these f**ing b***ches". We not only heard this, but customers around us also did. We sat there for 10 minutes with NOT ONE employee ask us for a drink order. So, I got on my phone and began calling other restaurants *begging* to be let in for a last minute dinner. We finally got one restaurant to agree. The 7 of us stood up, took our coats, and walked out. Not one employee seemed to notice let alone care that a party of 7 had left their restaurant. We could not have been happier at the OTHER resultant we went to. I will NEVER step food in this resultant again. DISGUSTING how they treated paying customers. read more

Great meal! Very simple and sophisticated, NYC-style downstairs room with Greco-Roman mural and off white decor. Very large portions, the pasta pie (signature dish) had delicate flavors and the creme brulee cheesecake was honestly, the best cheesecake I have had in my life-- because it was so light! Lunch sandwiches and pasta entree came with nice salad and great bread with accompanying oil, garlic and cheese. Budget friendly for lunch. Nice, large parking lot. Enjoy!! read more

I decided to come here based on the suggestion of a client. I came herewith 5 people. The service was great and i can say nothing bad. It was a Wednesday night and relatively slow. We ordered calamari which was ok, however the others at the table felt is was good. The stuffed banana peppers and greens were amazing. It did however take quite a while to get the appetizers. I ordered the haddock francaise which i would never recommend to anyone. I could taste the egg batter and the butter wine sauce was wine and flavorless. I have had francaise sauce and this was not good. Not to mention that the fish was battered with the skin still on the bottom side of the fillet. Other things ordered were pork chops that had this nasty brown gravy drizzled on top. The woman who ordered it said it was gross and didn't eat it after 3 bites. The chicken meal with red peppers and mushrooms sauce was too rich and the other two had veal saltimboca and shrimp with del franco sauce i believe neither thought much of their meals. Basically this was nothing to sing home about. Its a great quick stop with ok food. Dessert i ordered the supposedly homemade chocolate cake with chocolate frosting drizzled with chocolate sauce. I opted to have strawberries and raspberries served on the side and an extra drizzle on caramel sauce. The cake was moist however the frosting tasted like the chef just bought a container of betty crocker and frosted the cake. The strawberries and raspberries weren't fresh but thawed frozen variety. If you are looking fir upscale this place is not the place. Also when you walk in you have to walk through the bar to get to the dining area. Once in the dining area the noise is so loud from the bar that you can barely hear. Not the best but not the worst. Wont be back. When i eat out i really prefer better food than i can cook at home. i frequently visit this restaurant for lunch. every time i have been there, the food is excellent and the wait staff were friendly. Last night I went with my family. The bar was so loud that we could not here each other. Our waiter was in blue jeans and sweating. Food was still excellent. I would say the atmosphere was not what it has been in the past. A group of us went for work at the new location on James Street. We had reservations yet, we still had to wait for them to set up a table for our party of 7. No big deal. We were seated and ordered. Our soups, salads and bread arrived promptly. However, we sat for over an hour to receive our lunches. When they arrived some items we burned while, others were cold. They apologized and explained that their kitchen computer had died. Understandable but, all in all it wasn't a great experience and I don't think we'll be back even thought it's within walking distance from our office. read more
