If you are looking for true professionals with exceptional customer service I cannot recommend Attitudes enough! I had a "hair emergency" today after visiting a completely different salon and receiving an "uneven" haircut. I walked into Attitudes, panicky and looking crazy, and the beautiful and gracious owner, Linda, listened to my hair woes and took me right back to fix it! She immediately saw the issue and was able to calm me down, tackle the problem and I left feeling like a million bucks and like I had made new friends! I am so thankful for them and I am 100% a repeat customer now! All of their stylists are professional and do exceptional work. What are you waiting for? A bad haircut like me?? Needed a last-minute cut when my usual person was too far and Casey was able to fit me in. She listened thoughtfully to what I was thinking and my concerns with a thin area near my hairline, then spent plenty of time talking about each area and how she was going to approach it. I am absolutely thrilled! It's basically an improved version of my usual cut, with blended layers, lots of movement, and a nice shape on the bangs. Easy to schedule an appointment. Sharon listened to my request, asked clarifying questions, and then proceeded to cut my hair in the style I wanted. Throughout the cut, she verified that she was doing what I asked. Great job! I just moved here and it is often hard to find a stylist to replace the one you had to leave behind. I haven't been to get a haircut since the beginning of 2020. I've been letting my gray hair grow out, just to see what it will look like. Today I made an appointment here, and they were able to book me same day with Makayla. She was very attentive and looked through the pictures I showed her and even managed to squeeze in a style even though I don't think I had requested that when I originally called. Everyone was super friendly, the vibe was very nice, the shop was impressively clean, the pricing is amazing, especially being located in Matthews, and I will definitely be calling this my new home for haircuts and trims. read more

I've always had thin, fine hair that I'm super self conscious about. I left the salon today feeling like a million bucks after Erica gave me fusion extensions. I am soo obsessed with them! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!! This is the WORST haircut ever!!! I do not believe she knew what she was doing and was unable to cut the hair style I wanted. She never said anything. She did not dry my hair completely. Stuck some mousse in it and wisked me out the door. I believe she knew she made a mistake and wanted to get me out of the shop. I asked for a long layered haircut, and showed her several pictures. She turned the chair, with my back to the mirror. She cut my hair in a bob. She cut 22 inches of hair off, which was not what I asked for. read more

Attitudes A Salon has one location in Matthews, allowing us to provide a wide variety of services including: highlights, low lights, color, and haircuts. We also have certified stylists specializing in Brazilian Blowouts, SoCap USA Hair Extensions, & Alterna Professional techniques, with one of our stylists being an Alterna Creative Team Member. The stylists at Attitudes A Salon are continually attending educational seminars in Charlotte, New York, Las Vegas area to ensure that we are following in the latest styles.

Meet the Business Owner: Lynda C.

Lynda's passion for helping make people look and feel beautiful dates back as far as she can remember. She attended cosmetology school directly out of high school, where she developed a love for the beauty industry. Her career began in New York in a salon where she not only was a stylist, but where she helped the salon grow into a well known chain in the area. After relocating to North Carolina in 1995, Lynda established a clientelle in Matthews. In September 2003, she opened Attitudes A Salon in Matthews Station, and 5 years later opened her second location at McKee Farms. She currently employs a full staff of 10 stylists, 2 assistants, and 2 front desk associates. Lynda has taken advanced courses all over the country including New York City & Las Vegas. She has also attended hair shows in Toronto, Canada. She prides herself on being able to offer a wide variety of services for all walks of life.

I had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience at this salon. I had even provided photos of my daughter's hair in advance, so there was no surprise or misunderstanding. Further, the "master" stylist was very rude and accusatory when he approached me about retroactively charging us. Mind you he was the one I showed the pictures to, as well as the one who submitted the payment slips to the young women at the front desk. Changing prices after the fact is unfair and unacceptable. It also raises serious concerns about discriminatory pricing practices. Customers deserve transparency and honesty, not hidden or after-the-fact charges. She told me that she didn't think it was a good idea to bleach the hair in the condition my hair was in because of the many years of black hair dye. What she recommended was for me stop the black hair dye and cover only the gray at the roots only a medium to dark brown and get regular trims of the ends until black was gone which I did. The purpose of the recommendation was that by dying the roots and getting trims was so that can later be able to bleach the hair to a lighter shade. The whole process took me almost a year to get my desired shade. I now have a copper reddish hair and love it. I've gotten many compliments on it and I can get away from dying my grays a little longer than when I had black hair.

I've been here for a pedicure consultation and 3 pedicure appointments. So far, I have not been disappointed. Other than the standard and spa like treatments, there's also services dedicated to those who are diabetic, geriatric, and deal with harsh calluses and dry skin. My consultation with Vay (the owner) was for a couple of calluses and layered skin on a corn in between my little toe and the one next to it. She also gave me my first pedi. The seating was is very comfortable. She was friendly, focused, and thorough tending to my concerns. You can tell this is an art for her and she's serious about her work. I was nervous about it feeling uncomfortable, but totally the opposite. I left with my feet feeling amazing. The callus and corn between my toes was so smoothed out that I was pain free. Haven't experienced that in a very long time. No other salon tried to help with the layered skin, so I stopped going. The polish lasted about 3 weeks and pedi was good for a little over 4 weeks (the smoothness of what's between my toes). The salon itself feels spacious, clean, and I love the layout and color scheme. The music is loud enough to sing along to, but low to where it's not overwhelming. They also offer water and coffee. Despite the prices being a little high, it's been worth every single cent! You can also book appointments with a guest. Set up appointments that include a couple of services as well.

Finishing off with choice of color and polish. The salon was located on the first floor in a quiet building located at the mixed use Revolutionary Mill. Going for waterless pedicure comes with alot of benefits. It is ecofriendly, diabetic and geriatric friendly,calluses and dry skin is more visible to care for, allows nail polish to last longer and reduces the risk of cross contamination. ***Updating*** I was going to just delete this review after I talked to the owner this morning, but figured instead I would use this as a teachable moment for business owners concerned about bad reviews on Yelp. I had posted this as a one-star review (see below). Linda, the owner, called me personally to apologize, and she discussed the issue with her staff and talked about how situations like might be handled better and kindly helped me schedule a new appointment herself despite not being in the salon right now. The takeaway for business owners is: be proactive, discuss incidents with staff, but most importantly reach out to people person-to-person! The owner's handling of this got a one-star review changed to a 5! I know everything is more challenging with covid, but I do not feel they handled things professionally. I was running a few minutes behind on my appointment, so the front desk lady said she had to cancel as my stylist had an appointment at 1, over 20 minutes later. I asked if she would ask the stylist again if I agreed to forego the wash since all I needed was a simple man's hair trim, a task of less than 10 minutes. It would be one thing if she asked Shelly and Shelly said no, but the woman refused to even ask her for me, which was just rude and unprofessional. They've lost my business permanently. Turns out there's a reason they call this place "Attitude:" they have a seriously bad one. read more

I must admit that I have never written a review online - good or bad - but I had to share this experience. My 10 year old daughter decided to roll her really long hair up really tight in a comb all the way to the top thinking it would roll right back out. After two hours of breaking each tooth on the comb with pliers and wire cutters we got that out but the knotted mess that was left was unbelievable. We just knew it wasn't coming out. I called Attitudes since she had gotten her hair cut there a few weeks prior and they let me bring her in immediately. When we arrived I could tell by the look on their faces that this was no easy task. They never let my daughter see their concern and even the young daughter of the owner brought over her new puppy in an attempt to make my daughter feel better. Two stylists worked in between appointments for two hours to salvage what they could and gave her a new haircut that she absolutely loved. When I go to pay they say no charge and Merry Christmas. From the very beginning until the very end, I was impressed by these wonderful people and will always remember what they did for my little girl. read more

Attitudes makes you feel like you are home and a part of one big family every time you walk in. Each stylist is very experienced and continuously work on their skills and education. If you are not satisfied with something, owner Lynda Carlson and manager Erica Deppas make sure that they do everything they can to ensure that you are happy before you leave. The stylists never care if you want to try someone else within the salon as well. They have different level stylists too so it is affordable for everyone and there are always promotions. Each stylist is also very knowledgable about the product lines for home care of you new "do" and they take the time to work with you so you can get the "fresh from the salon look every day". Attitudes is also a kid friendly environment and all of the girls are great with children cuts. They offer services for weddings and other special events as well including hair and makeup. I moved to Charlotte, 5 years ago and was very lucky to find a salon five minutes from my house that has such a cool vibe and the people even nicer! The owner (Linda) is a wonderful, honest, professional person whose number one priority is to provide client satisfaction...the customer is always right mindset, which is no longer the case in today's business market! My stylist is her daughter (Erika), who is a top level stylist and definitely lives up to her title. I love that she is young, fun and always has different ideas on how to change up your look, she ensures to take the time to learn latest industry techniques by traveling to beauty shows/events which keeps the customer up to date on new trends/styles...fun! The best thing about the salon is the warm and inviting feeling you get when your there...it's just a welcoming/happening place! And you get cucumber water in the summer and hot coco in the winter! Yesterday was a very lucky day for me, I made my first appointment with Attitudes A Salon. I've been growing the blond color out of my natural gray hair for about 8 months now. I look like 50 shades of gray and blond, what a mess. I had a last minute invite to a wedding and was in panic mode. HELP! Maranda made my appoint for the next day! Well I can't say enough about everyone, Linda (owner), and Gaby the stylist made it a team effort to get the blond out and a beautiful shade of gray in. Love, love the color and a great haircut. Coming from someone who had never (before Attitudes) gotten her hair cut from the same stylist twice: Love Attitudes! The stylists are great, personable, knowledgeable, and (most important for me) honest. I love that they listen to what you would like to do and they give you an honest opinion. Every time I go in, April K. takes what I would like to do and makes it better! I now have fun with my hair because I trust April and all of the stylists--I know I will always walk out of their salon happy (and probably laughing from the great conversations!). You walk in to a beautiful salon with a cheery and pleasant receptionist to greet you. I had the pleasure of having Taylor give me a whole new look but cutting 7 inches off my hair and giving me a style that is perfect! I enjoyed a glass of wine while having a laid back an calm experience. I wasn't rushed and get ready for this one..... my stylist was on time!!! Casey at Attitudes is amazing! I followed her from another salon and she is the absolute best. My hair is long, thick and there is a LOT of it. Casey perfectly highlights, cuts and styles it into wonderfulness. I have naturally strawberry blonde and Casey is a total experienced pro at coloring red hair. Personally I like it a brighter red and she makes it the perfect natural red color. I have seen many of her happy blonde clients as well, if thats your jam. These girls are the best! They go above and beyond...I called them with a hair disaster (I got a round brush twisted and really really stuck in my hair). They took me in right away and worked over 3 hours (of that an hour and a half past closing time) getting the brush and the tightest most massive knot out of my hair. And Taylor did an amazing job with my new haircut! I never thought anything could be done with it after that disaster but she worked wonders on it! Seriously the best salon I have ever been to. I have been going to Attitudes since it first opened. One of my friends introduced me to Lynda years ago. I have thick, coarse hair that's difficult to color and cut and she has worked wonders in coloring my hair and finding the perfect cut. I even moved out of state for several years and couldn't wait to come back. Everyone always makes me feel welcome and comfortable there. I would highly recommend Attitudes! I have had 2 amazing experiences here with Gaby. She cut 10 inches off for me the first appt and did a balayage, she listened exactly to what I was looking for and it turned out just like the picture I brought in. I recently got my hair brightened up a little with her and a trim. People compliment the cut and color so much and some people have asked to take pictures of my hair as well while out.
