I've driven past here several times on the way to work, and I was glad that a coworker wanted to meat here. Looking like a slob in front of coworkers is a bad look, so I ordered the Barbacoa Egg Rolls. The egg rolls are substantial, and filled with delicious barbacoa beef, corn bean relish, and cheese. The cilantro aioli was a nice dip. The only miss was that the egg rolls needed another minute in the fryer. I ate one and took two home: they were perfect after a few minutes in the toaster oven. The service was fairly quick, so I had time to ignore my coworker and looking out at the river. This is a good place to relax and enjoy some tasty food. Wow wow wow! Yum yum yum! Super cute little date for us when we both have odd shifts, perfect for meeting in the middle! Not sure where the three stars or lower reviews are coming from. These tacos were flavor bombs. I got chorizo, asada and carnitas. The chorizo, for me, was by far the tastiest. The portions are decent, the folks were very kind, the whole atmosphere invites you to spend time enjoying your food. The location is awesome, you've got a little river behind the place and some outdoor seating as well. I can't think of a single thing to complain about. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. read more

This very authentic Mexican street food is OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend this joint to everyone. My sister and I stopped in for lunch after checking the menu online. My sister ordered the cheese enchiladas, it was a very generous portion plus excellent beans and rice on the side. I had the shrimp street tacos and we also enjoyed the flight of CHIPS. For my review of Atwater tacos I enjoy my burrito I said 10 out of 10 I love the service very kind and the ambience is very bright. I love that they have a patio face in the water that's a plus.. I also love the presentation they have for my food, even though it's in the box to go but you can take to go or you can sit down and eat it whatever how you like it . If you're looking for tacos or Mexican food as best casual, I'll come Atwater tacos in flat rock area. I personally enjoyed more than Chipotle . My boyfriend and I frequently visit Atwater a couple times a month - which says a lot since we're the type to cook at home unless we're out eating at a restaurant. We've visited so many times now and never have we had a bad experience. The staff is always fast, helpful and friendly. The cooks does an amazing job keeping up with business flow and providing delicious food that's not just thrown in a container like other businesses would do. Atwater was my first elotes experience and I've been hooked on them since. I always get it with my tinga quesadilla. We always get our food for pickup since we live close, but the dining area always looks well kept and the outside eating area is also well maintained with a lovely view of the water and duckies. You can also rent paddleboats! (Which we will do one day lol) Will continue to support this businesses read more

No dine-in available yet. I have been wanting to try this downriver spot for months. They have carry out and a small 7 table patio, weather permitting. There are also some tables at the park next to the restaurant. There's a decent view of the Huron river at the park and next the taco joint. You order at one window, they will text you when your food is up, bring your receipt and they will hand it over through their plexi glass. We got 2 mandarin Jarritos, chips and guacamole with a side of salsa, 1 rojo chicken enchilada, 2 chicken tinga tostadas, 3 street tacos marinated chicken, cilantro and onions. I got a text 8 minutes later. The single chicken tinga rojo enchilada is okay, it's annoying since it keeps falling apart every time I try to pick up a small intact piece to eat it. Argh. Each order has a set amount, no a la carte at all, found that after I paid. Each order of the tostadas comes with two tostadas. There was a nasty short black hair in one if the tostadas, underneath the chicken. I was turned off and felt nauseous after seeing the hair. I ate cautiously at first and gave up as nauseous set in thinking about the hair and hoping I wouldn't find anymore in my food. I couldn't stomach eating the second tostada. In fact I was done eating afterwards. The rice is flat, boring and devoid of flavor. Their beans are disgusting. The tostadas are better at Taco Bell then this joint, but perhaps it's all they have downriver. Do come here if you like a Stella way hair in your food. The guacamole is okay, it comes in a big sized tub. Their salad app tastes like marinara sauce, it's mild and belongs on pasta, not on corn chips. Their chips and tostada tortillas are all from a bag. Not fresh, generic. The corn chips are tossed into a storage bin, by the bathrooms, nice. The quality of the food for the prices here are beyond disappointing. It's all so subpar. I would have been more satiated at Taco Bell or a food truck over this overhyped garbage they try to sell as food here. Service was okay. It would have been good to double check that I wanted 4 tostadas, when I only wanted 2 total. The quality of the food here is really bad, embarrassingly and shamefully bad. read more

4 stars because the food isn't always consistent. Usually it is excellent though, but if you're not happy they make it right. The restaurant itself is adorable with a nice (heated) patio right on the river. The street tacos are legit. Steak fries are wonderful, loaded with meat & toppings. Not a big fan of their guac, but their rice and beans make up for it. The flauntas are great. We've tired about everything & the quesadillas, street fries, and flautas are our fav with queso & chips our fav side. read more

If I lived closer to ATS they'd probably know me by name and/ or my order before walking in. I love the food for its fresh ingredients and spices they use, it's so flavorful even without being spicy. But they have wonderful options for heat if that's your preference. The chip and salsa "flight" does not disappoint. Can't recall all 4 salsa options, but there's a habanero, a guacamole option (fabulous) and their original (delish). Flautas are a favorite of mine and you get lots of garnish on top + beans & rice so leftovers or sharing are possible. This time I shared Steak Birria tacos and they were excellent! The birria sauce on the side is So delicious I had it on my tacos, my rice, dipped a flauta in it like it was au jus and spooned up the rest like it was a perfect spicy soup. I just couldn't resist. I've also had the Chicken Tinga quesadillas and they had such a delicious flavor that it makes it difficult to decide what to eat. I'm lucky my friend is willing to share entree's because that makes it easier. The main dining area has seating for about 25-28 at lower 4 person tables and higher bar height seats. There's also an outdoor, covered patio which could hold about the same number of diners. It's right next to the river so it's kind of nice. Always a flow of carry out orders whenever I go. 1 bathroom each guys and gals which are clean, spacious so handicap accessible as is restaurant entrance - no stairs or thresholds. Can't recall doorway to outdoor patio though. Prices are affordable for amount of food you get, $-$$. Staff are friendly, efficient and you give them your name or cell number and when food is ready you pick up at counter. Parking lot is about 10-12 vehicles and off side street, not Telegraph Rd. read more

Update because I finally tried the torta! Atwater is still crushing it with delicious food, and a few effortless and safe options during COVID-19. As usual the tacos, queso, and burritos are all excellent, but if you've never had the torta, you must try it! I did the classic torta with al pastor as the meat choice. The sandwich is a generous portion, and the bread is fresh from a local bakery. Just wanted to shout out this great spot for staying strong during 2020 and stepping up their game. Highly recommend. Let me start off by saying the food was delicious! It is everything I expect of a Taco place. I ordered the Atwater Shrimp Tacos + Chips & Salsa and they did not disappoint. However, everything leading up to getting my food was a battle. The parking lot is incredibly tiny and difficult to park in during a rush. There is no designated area to stand when you enter the place, so if there is a-lot of people in there, you're all just crowded around. Once I received my tacos the lady was nice enough to think of giving me green sauce with the extra salsa I asked for. Didn't even think to ask and she was a step ahead. Good customer service.
