Where to begin? Husband and his family have been going there for years. Don't ask me why. On my visit prior to this, I found a 12" black hair in my salad. Yes- delivered direct from our waitress. YESTERDAY. 5/7/2016 Day before Mother's day. Deliberately arrive by 4 pm to avoid crowds, make it comfortable for my fragile mother-in-law. Hostess- wearing Panama Jack hat- has never smiled once at us. Never. Check-in desk area so dark it is a hazard. I look at chairs in waiting area- yellow/orange cushions are filthy even in the dark, so seeing them with a light on is a horrible thought. However- ask MIL to sit down. Panama Jack [maybe it's her Jimmy Buffet Tradewinds hat?] cannot seat us for several minutes as she is changing from lunch to dinner menus, complaining to herself. I still contemplate chairs, then realize we will never get MIL out of them. Meanwhile, we are being knocked around by patrons going to/from bathrooms, coming/going out of restaurant. Ask for a table near windows, because even in front area, blinds are closed and lightbulbs are about 40 watts. Hang-on- the food description will eventually arrive. We are finally seated next to the banquet room. There is a 1/2 wall dividing it from the main dining room, and curtains cover the openings. No nice glass panels... We are immediately assaulted by SCREAMING children, running around. Waitress arrives.. we ask for waters, bread, another place setting, please keep dessert menu at table, put dinner orders in + 1 appetizer. Waters appear. 20 minutes later, the waitress asks how we are- um... we *aren't*. She explains stuffed mushroom app just takes SO LONG!! And also she is so busy she doesn't even have time to say hello to her friends. We also see she is serving tables on the other side of the restaurant. Restaurant is * filled* with wait staff, other people served/eating before us. Grab another waitress and ask for bread, at least. She rolls eyes- clearly knows our waitress is less than useless. Bread appears. Our waitress- now 45 minutes into our service- says she will put in our dinner order. ??? However, as she has lost/misplaced/flushed her order book down the toilet, could we please repeat our order? Salads arrive. MIL and I have decided to take ours home and tell waitress so MAYBE she will be smart enough to bring them in boxes at end of meal- but she insists on bringing them. They sit on the table for over an hour- with all the dust/debris from people rushing by/banquet room curtains wafting, etc. One hour in, dinner is served. Husband received 2 softball-sized meatballs, 1 pound of pasta and 2 quarts of marinara. MIL has veal Francaise. I receive 2 flattened chicken breasts, each covered with a square of unmelted cheese, floating in a quart of brown gravy. (Previous experience there with tomato sauce caused violent agita.). One bite- chicken is pure rubber and might be undercooked. Or, overcooked. What do I know? It is too dark to see. The waitress is a good 30 feet away and cannot be hailed. Side of 'zucchini' arrived. Black olives, red peppers, onions.. I guess the yellow stuff was zucchini? Cold, not roasted properly. By this time husband is in hysterics. MIL declares mushroom app has filled her up, no room for her entree. Oh!! My mashed potatoes are OK. Get small piece of MIL's veal- stringy, swimming in wine and lemon juice. The sauce was not properly reduced. If the food is made on the premises, avoid it. If it is pre-cooked and re-heated- they don't know how to use a microwave. Waitress returns- how is it all? Hand over my plate and for first time in my life say 'do NOT replace'. Husband ordered a side of fries at beginning of meal and then when the softballs arrived. TWICE. They never arrive. This special dinner cost us $39.85. Waitress asks if we would like to speak to manager? My dinner was comp'ed. If I call to speak with owner, s/he will only offer me a gift certificate. Like we will ever go back there??? . Hoping the chicken was actually cooked, because the opposite is too terrible to contemplate... Their overall rating for quality and taste of food, service, cleanliness, staff behavior is a zero. I really would appreciate a check for $39.85. And yes- the Yelp review remains. read more
