It was a gorgeous day out so we opted to sit in the outdoor casual terrace rather than their formal dining restaurant indoors. The soft natural almost dreamy haze of the sunlight filtered the view of the vineyard below. The setting and ambiance was really relaxing. I felt like I was in Italy. I almost wanted to lay out on a hammock for "riposo". Food wasn't too impressive (and a bit pricey for what it was) or memorable but service including the complimentary valet was fine. A great visit when in Napa despite the not so exciting menu options. But chances are you came for the views than for their food anyway. So did we. read more

Nothing is better in wine country than a terrace that overlooks the mountains and vineyards. so, be sure to ask for a seat on the terrace when you eat here. We had the prix fixe brunch for $85 each, end it was worth every penny. It starts with a drink of your choice, and I ordered the kir royale. You then get three courses: an appetizer, a main, and a dessert. My appetizer was the sautéed foie gras, and it was so tasty with the grilled cherries. It's clear that this chef knows what he is doing. The duck hash was spectacular. Every bite was mouthwatering. And for dessert, The chocolate dessert was delicious, but if you want to go off the beaten path, I recommend the lavender cake with strawberries and Mille Feuille. The essence of lavender in the cake was so balanced and not overpowering, while enhancing the flavors of the dessert to a new level. That pastry chef Paul Lemieux knows what he is doing. read more

Very very average. Not worth the price at all. The melon soup with lobster was gross. It tasted like a melon smoothie in a bowl topped with two pieces of lobster. Fried calamari was decent. Eat at the Bistro, there is also the fancy restaurant, but that is a different credit card needed :) Good fun time here. The trick is, get here about 11:30am. They open at 11:45 and are a first come first serve seating arrangement. You want the patio. You can't beat the view here. The establishment sits a good distance above the valley, high enough for more than 180 degree views of our beautiful valley. Sometimes you may even see some hot air balloons, but don't count on it. We always enjoy and get the burger, if your not counting the calories, add bacon and avocado if they have it. Everything is super fresh and the ladies always love the fries. They are those nice thin cut ones, so there is not guilt eating a ton, cause you know, they are thin. Burger goes nice with a beer, in fact a refreshing change if coming off of a morning wine tasting and breaking up the day as you are most likely going to be going to more tasting later. Oh, free valet parking too and a nice winery just a walk up the hill. Review on that one later. Enjoy this little slice of Napa. read more

We arrived at 11:00 AM and were immediately greeted by the friendly valet parking attendant. We were able to walk right into the Bistro and picked any table we wanted because we were the first customers to arrive. We sat at a table right on the edge of the patio with a killer view. It was so quiet and peaceful. The waitress immediately brought complimentary olives and water. We started with the house sparkling wine, which was delicious. We ordered the margherita pizza with pepperoni and the burger with fries. Everything was amazing and the portion sizes are big enough to share which is awesome. The service was impeccable, the staff was so friendly and the ambiance is something everyone should experience. The bathrooms are also extremely clean and fancy and the rest of the grounds of the resort are so beautiful. I will definitely be back for another visit soon! read more

We sat outside and had an awesome view while we fortified ourselves for another winery visit We kept it light--my wife went tuna tartare and I had the chopped cobb salad. Yes, the view is pretty, but otherwise this place is not worth the prestige. No self parking, which we didn't realize because there's no "valet only" signage. The valet guy even said they would move our car around if it gets busy. No thanks. We ended up parking at the vineyard up the street and walking down. Average food, drinks and service. I go in to ask for a table for 9, host looks at me (i am Filipino with tattoos) and tells me up to 2 hours wait. It's located inside the famed Auberge du Soleil hotel, which offers complementary valet parking. The bistro has open seating. No reservation accepted. We went in early on a Friday afternoon, so it wasn't too difficult to find a spot on the wraparound terrace. We ordered the duck confit pizza and Mediterranean octopus along with a glass of the house cabernet sauvignon. After my fair share of "bad" house wine, I was pleasantly surprised by it. I thought the spice from the cabernet went well with the saltiness of the thin crust pizza. The Mediterranean octopus had nice texture, but the flavor was little mellow. Good food overall, but you can find better elsewhere in Napa for the price. There is definitely a premium for the view. read more

This is for the bar/restaurant only, but this is where it took me to check-in. The food really is only above average and overpriced, although I thoroughly enjoyed my dry rose. (It's nice to enjoy a rose as much as a white or red once in awhile). Our pizza was a bit burnt and nothing special as far as pizza was concerned, and the ahi tuna was standard hotel fare. The most inexpensive red wine was $16 which was a bit much when drinking wine at reasonable prices in exquisite wineries all afternoon. Service was excellent, and it was probably the best view that I've ever experienced in a restaurant. It was beautiful and hot and it was nice to have a table overlooking the glorious hotel pool area in half sun-half shade. If you are looking for the top of the class yet casual spot to take a little winetasting break, look no further, seriously the view overseeing the Napa Valley is incredible. My friend and I started our winetasting with a beautiful lunch right here, enjoying plenty of sunshine out on the deck sipping their house sparkling and tooth-picking their delicious olives, the creamy silky bubbles washes out the olive's salty brine to create a perfect harmony. For starter, we had a Smoked Salmon & Fromage Blanc Tartine ($13), filet of smoke salmon beautifully arranged on the toast with a little micro-green. Toasty, crunchy, and very savory. That appetizer really goes well with their Sunchoke Soup (seasonal, $11), a generous mini-pot of velvety soup, hot but doesn't burn you tongue, garnished with diced croutons for an extra dimension; a very fitting dish for the winter days. Their Prosciutto Fontina Pizza ($21) topped with Arugula and shaved Parmesan cheese was baked perfectly-thin, the cheetah spotted sides with a bit of salt crystals and the "crunch" sound effect elevates the elegant balance of the ingredients topping this pizza. It's also big enough for us to pack up a few slices to-go afterwards. Amazing Views, disappointed with service... We stopped into the Bistro after a day of wine tasting planning to have a cocktail on the Patio and then have dinner. We ordered 2 small plates with our cocktails and then were going to order dinner. Our server was nowhere to be found and drinks were empty. Frustrated that tables around us were receiving service, we decided to just get the check and go back to our hotel for dinner. We went here last Sunday and unfortunately the Auberge main restaurant was only doing a tasting menu brunch and not a la carte lunch menu so we had to go to the Bistro & Bar to get lunch. The patio was full and you couldn't make reservations so we sat inside until an outside table was available. Unfortunately nothing was available near the side with the best view while we were there. The food was EXTREMELY underwhelming. I felt really bad for bringing people here. Honestly I would only come back to have drinks and not food if you could get a better seat on the patio. I still do want to try the next door main restaurant of the Auberge resort. We ordered burgers which were pretty tasteless and way overcooked (we did ask them to make them med and med rare), the fries were cold but would have been good if hot, the tuna poke wasn't good at all and the ahi tuna open faced sandwich was ok, but not great. So sad, I thought this would be my new spot to bring people in between tastings. read more

We had been told about Auberge before we left Portland so after leaving Domaine Chandon, we make our way to the Silverado Trail. As we get close to the Trail we can see the Inn on the side of the hill. Complimentary valet parking took care of the car while we ventured inside. The restaurant had just closed so we made our way to the bistro/bar. Hoping to sit outside, we were told the wait was 45 minutes. No worries...we would just sit at the bar and have a drink. We took our seats, ordered drinks and an appetizer and before anything even arrived were told our table was ready. The views are amazing!! You can see for miles. Normally when frequenting a place that charges $15 for a margarita, I feel like I'm way in over my head. But I didn't here. Sure, the food and drink was expensive, but it was worth it. The servers were great and I didn't feel like they were looking down their noses at us. The $74 tab for two drinks and three appetizers was much more than I would have paid elsewhere but the stunning views from the balcony and the unpretentious service was well worth the cash. read more

I ate in the restaurant once and had a mediocre experience and was told by friends that the Bistro was better so I gave it a try. My friend and I shared two items on the menu: duck confit pizza and the Auberge burger. We specifically ordered the burger extra rare and I'm not kidding, the burger was well-done. Both the pizza and burger were so terrible that we didn't eat more than a bite. We didn't feel like going through the process of turning anything back, but I would have thought the waitress would have noticed we barely ate - nope. The best part of our meal was the bread. The view is good but honestly, a little overrated. The tablecloths are tacky and the black iron fence is unattractive. I would much rather eat at Bardessono. read more

After customarily forgetting to eat during a day of wine tastings, my buddy I were famished. I was threatening to hop a fence and eating some grapes right off the vine when we came upon this place. Surprisingly unoccupied at prime dining time, we were warmly greeted and ushered to the balcony terrace at AB. We quickly realized how lucky we were to have made our way here. AB would easily top my rec list for those that want to enjoy some rarefied Napa air (and views), without having to stick up a bank on the way to dinner or "The Laundry." No reservations means any plebeian off the street can have a Michelin quality experience complete with a picturesque wraparound terrace with breathtaking views of the valley below. Booking yeah! I was accompanied by a fellow ostreaphile so we quickly took down a half dozen West Coast oysters. They were cold and salty like a bushel of wintry mermaids. The hand pulled prosciutto pizza was a well-executed followup, although I prefer the crispy NY pie myself. Surely the pièce de résistance, however, was the steamed Manila clam dish. Littlenecks doused with a sweet, slightly spicy, and citrusy gravy and soy caramelized pork belly. I succumbed to the urge and into the sauce when my freedom fries. Anyone that comes to Auberge Bistro will be pleasantly surprised by the service and food. We left, with our gills a little less pale, to join our friends back in town for one more round. I was fortunate to stave off hunger without having to resort to grape leaves for another day. Hasta mañana. ------------- Follow-up Review This place was so good we decided to return with a group of eight. This time the meal took a more family style small dish kind of affair. The heriloom tomato and mozzarella with basil, bone marrow, more oysters and prosciutto pizza, and the cheese platter kicked off the afternoon. Our friend brilliantly ordered the Rosé, one wine we hadn't seen much of in Napa Valley on this trip. It was a hot afternoon and this particular Canard (Calistoga, Napa Valley) was delicious and refreshing. We were on our way to another tasting followed by a BBQ at a friend's house so we were just stopping in for a snack. This place blew people away again. The bistro was overpriced in my opinion. I don't mind paying for food if the food is made correctly. After we took our seats the waiters immediately served us water, which is a plus, however, after our entrees came, I noticed that other people who came in after us were also served almonds and olives upon arriving and we were not. Our water was not refilled on this hot summer day and when our burger came it was overcooked. We asked for medium rare and it came to us medium well. I expect to have a perfectly cooked burger for $25. The chocolate torte was good and very moist, however, due to the over priced food and service, I will not return. read more

I stop here whenever I can while I'm in Napa/Sonoma. The view is incredible, and the food is delicious (and relatively more affordable than the restaurant next door). They serve some olives to munch on while you order and wait for your food. I usually go just to kill some time and enjoy the view, rather than eat a full meal. The slow cooked hen egg is DELICIOUS. Charcuterie/cheese plates are dependably good. Do not skip the Auberge Torte. Just get it. read more

At first they didn't have seating outside on the patio which was a bummer because it was so beautiful outside but the bartender let us know immediately when there was an opening. This bistro has a great view with fairly normal items prepared nice ingredients. The price is not expensive at all. Pasta was rich, pizza bigger than I thought. The ahi tuna tartare was much too salty though. Actually nothing beats a 5 dollar ahi tuna bowl in Hawaii. It was a nice experience with the staff being totally professional. Ok so I was feeling fancy and happy (could've been all the wine tasting) unwinding at our table on the terrace of Auberge. Before sunset, we were greeted by a welcoming waiter and spectacular views of the Napa Valley. Such an impressive place it was only fitting to indulge in a bottle of wine. The choices were endless, pairing a red wine with a swanky plate of cheese and fig. It's definitely a posh place so you need to be prepared to spend like a rich socialite or else stick with the free olives and share the fries and pizza like I did. Feeling a sweet tooth? Splurge on the Filo Wrapped Chocolate Dumplings; simply decadent and romantic. This is a perfect spot for a date, anniversary, group of close friends, brunch or a last stop from wine tasting. They paid attention to us and checked on us not too much and not too little throughout the evening. They had a redwood in the middle of the bistro. Gorgeous and the patio has an amazing view. Go to the bistro if you want to save some money. I look forward to going to the restaurant next time we visit napa. Everyone in town recommended it although its VERY pricey.
