I love coming here. They have done a number of small jobs for me. The prices are very reasonable and the folks that work there are unfailingly friendly and helpful. Brian and the staff know what they are doing. I just had them switch CD changers in my trunk. When the one I wanted installed turned out to be smaller than the one being replaced, they weren't fazed at all, and made it work. The changer is completely stable, plays perfectly, and switches among the CDs with no issues at all! Whenever I get the interior done in my El Camino they will be installing my new head unit and 12-disc CD changer. I'm sure they will do a perfect job!! read more

It's rare these days to find a shop that actually takes pride in what they do. Brian is very passionate about his business and I could tell this when I meant him for the first time. I brought Brian my Jeep that I had another shop put together. The Jeep did sound good but I always felt like something wasn't right. I was actually contemplating redoing the complete system. I had Brian listen to it prior to it being retuned. Brian had told me to let him retune the system before changing out anything. Fast forward to the day I brought it in for a DSP retune. I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical that it would sound any better. Boy was I wrong! Brian blew me alway on what he was able to do! After the retune, I listened to my jeep with Brian. I was in shock at the shop, I knew it sounded better but I couldn't comprehend the transformation of the system. I bought a used Sprinter motorhome with a simply awful Jenson radio. I picked up a JVC radio with Android Auto and BT that would still display the visuals when the blinkers were activated from the side and rear cameras. I went to several Stereo Installation shops in Sacramento, and no one was confident about how to make it work. I finally found Auburn Car Tunes, who immediately said they understood what was involved and had experience installing new radios with this type of configuration. Once Auburn Car Tunes began the installation, they encountered unexpected challenges. The radio's connections were different than they had anticipated, leading to a longer installation time. They also discovered the need for additional parts, which had to be ordered. Needing additional parts and the multiple delays were frustrating, but it was no one's fault. What impressed me the most was how the owner, Brian, handled these problems and challenges. A true professional - he was fair and understanding and worked hard to make everything work correctly. Had to replace our stereo in our truck before a road trip last week. Had a few minor issues with install, in turn delaying our road trip by a day, which we were absolutely not happy about, however, Brian addressed our concerns immediately and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and the issues were resolved quickly. I had a Ham Radio install, before the install I inquired if they were capable and able to perform install at which time the representative stated that they install Cal Fire radios and should not be an issue. Waited for vehicle in showroom after about three hours it was ready paid the bill and drove off. Oddly I noted some static on several channels it was picking up engine noise and I wondered if it had not been grounded properly went back in at which time they checked their work and told no issues found, the owner stated to me he did research and found that Yaesu Radios have static problems. Before leaving I was chatting with Company Representative and I noticed that the antenna lead was routed through the door and inquired why they did not go through the firewall he stated to me that the lead was not long enough and if I purchase another lead he would install and charge me. I purchased another lead made appointment at Auburn Tunes but ended up cancelling and decided to do it myself much to my surprise the lead installed by Auburn Tunes was plenty long and it was neatly rounded and zip tied hidden from view underneath carpet. When I called the owner once again, he stated we never go through the firewall and the representative should never have told me that. The reality is you can't win against this guy because he believes he's always right. read more

I called looking for a new head unit for my '91 ford econoline and wanted to keep it within the $100-$150 range. I was told they had many options in many price ranges and that anyone could help me. Sure enough, I arrive with my old cassette player am/fm and the old dash speaker. I was quickly educated about all the options. Unfortunately you cannot just purchase one speaker, they come in pairs. Of course. Haha. Upon more convo and education of the products, I was so impressed on the customer service AND the reasonable pricing, I not only left with a new head unit, but a new set of speakers and speaker boxes.... did I stay within my price range? Hell no, but knowing I not only left with quality product sold to me by a very knowledgeable sales person, I supported a local specialty business. They took the time. They got my dime! Long story short, a previous employee did some shady work on my 66' Caddy and in the end, the owners made it 100% right. These guys did it right!!! I have a manx style street legal dune buggy which had an outdated and broken stereo system. They installed my newly purchased stereo and speakers in my custom manx style buggy and their work was exceptional with attention to detail. They delivered a super clean install at a competitive price and explained how the new system works afterwards. I called Auburn Car Tunes about a week ago and asked if they could install a 12" subwoofer and amp that I owned into my 2017 Honda Accord. They gave me an estimate right over the phone that included an amp kit (since I didn't have one), a line output converter for the stock head unit, and for labor (included price of disabling ANC microphones that interfere with the signal from the amplifier). I made an appointment for the following week and a young man, Wes, was in charge of my installation. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. The instillation looks amazing. The sub box actually fit very nicely between the floor of the trunk and the frame of the vehicle so it won't move around while I'm driving, and the wiring looks very professional. The system sounds amazing, far better than it did before the installation. I'm incredibly happy with their work, and even ended up paying a little less than I was originally quoted. The off/on/volume knob on my 1997 Lincoln Continental radio suddenly quit working, so I checked out three local repair shops for estimates. One gave me a quote which was greater than the cost of a whole new sound system. Another told me that replacement parts for the 23 year radio would be impossible to locate, essentially telling me, "Go away, it's too much trouble." But when I went to Auburn Car Tunes, Ron told me it may take some time to locate parts and, if he could, here's what it would cost. I've been to Auburn Car Tunes twice now. The first time was to purchase a new stereo for my son's car. They were extremely helpful and explained the differences in the stereos. Never pushed for the most expensive one. They listened to what I needed and were able to suggest a few models. Install took a few hours and everything works great! I went back to have them fix my stereo in my car. Again they gave me a few options but it turned out they didn't need to put a new stereo in, they were able to run the speakers off my deck which saves me a couple hundred dollars. I removed all the wiring left attached to the frame. Returned it to Auburn car tunes to see if I could get a refund for the new wire that was left bundled under my frame. Was totally ignored for about 45 minutes until I finally got the owner's attention. he told me the manager was at lunch and would call me back I was in too big of a hurry so I left the bundles of wire on the counter and ask them if they would please think about sending me some kind of it refund or store credit. I never received a phone call back I never got my wire back that I paid for or anything else from them. I had brought my vehicle in for the estimate it was there and they had looked at it so them not seeing the vehicle prior to giving me an estimate was false . The vehicle was with me every interaction I had with them and they had more than enough ample opportunity to inspect it prior to drop off date, to give a more accurate estimate than $350.00 installed. I have felt every time I've visited there location, like there too busy, I'm not as important as what ever their doing when I arrive. Have had to wait patiently for help every time. I have spent over $1000.00 on previous visits. So it's not like I'm a waist of time to help. Could have been a lot better experience, with out much more effort. read more

We were on our way to Quincy for a weekend and upon leaving home our rear seat DVD players wouldn't turn on. With a three hour drive ahead of us and two small children who love their DVD's I was in need of some quick help! We called Auburn Car Tunes and asked if we could drop in to have them look at the problem. We had already been told by a place in Roseville they were "too busy" to do anything for us. When we arrived we were greeted quickly and the crew of 2-3 guys got right to work. They checked the fuses and found the problem quickly. In all we were only there just under an hour and we were back on the road with WORKING DVD players! Hooray! Even better was the fact that they didn't charge us an arm and a leg like they probably could have in our situation. They charged us for a half hour of labor and nothing more. So cool!! I had a terrible experience several years ago with an install of my Alpine head unit. There was terrible ignition noise. When I asked them to fix it they refused because I hadn't purchased the head unit from them. Recently, I decided to replace the head unit. When I opened everything up, I was shocked: they had wired the power to the ASHTRAY LIGHT!! No fuse!! No wiring back to the fuse block!! Pure laziness!! No wonder I had ignition noise!! I think they should stick to retail and let the professionals handle installs! Don't frequent this business!!!! read more

They suck. My stereo was cutting out. It was installed on a Harley softail. All new equipment and was on the bike for maybe 500 miles, the crossover were falling apart. The owner said he would try to warranty them. The owner talked shit about the install so I Said fix it. $300 bucks later and about 5 miles down the road and the stereo still doing the same thang. The owner is one cocky asshole. He asked me to call back about the crossover warranty which I did three times and never received a return phone call. I'm guessing he pocked the money. This was no low end system it cost me around $1500 for a small system, all purchased and installed there. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

I was referred to ACT from a buddy of mine that knows the owner. I went in with a very small budget and asked (Brian) if they would be willing to complete an install, but with my supplied parts as I can get them on the internet much cheaper. Basically, I would cover labor. Brian (The owners son) said, "Sure we can do that, but, hey, give me a chance to get close on price" I of course said "Sure, that's fair". Brian is a really nice guy but always very busy. It seams that this store is either under staffed or simply just too busy. Sad to report, despite my 2 in office visits and my 3 emails asking for the promised quote ( over a 2 week time line) I can not get a response and still have no quote. I would be happy with a simple " Ya know what, we're not the right business for your needs". Needless to say, I just emailed them with " Thanks for trying". I had Auburn Car Tunes install a custom fiberglass enclosure/sub/amp and related accessories in my new Audi S4 to improve the sound of the bang and olufsen system that it came with. Since I'm a ways away, I scheduled a meeting with Brian to discuss options. He was on time, knowledgeable, and provided good customer service. The quote was emailed later that same day and then he followed up with a phone call to discuss. Once details were finalized i scheduled the work, which was completed on time and actually a few dollars under the quoted amount. The installation was done professionally, and everything looks like it was done at the Audi factory. The sound quality is amazing and I couldn't be happier with the result. I went in one day, when my car radio was no longer working, and the owner himself came out and diagnosed the problem for me, he explained what he was doing in language I could understand, and helped me learn just a little bit more about how my car works. Then he installed a used radio to replace the old one. All at a very affordable price. What really impressed me was that about a week later I had a problem with the radio, and he fixed it completely free of charge. He even helped me with some other minor repairs to my car that were not even related! They have truly impressive customer service, really a great place. The owner is very enthusiastic, he really loves to talk to his customers a lot. The whole place has a very different feel and vibe than a large chain would.
